3 ‘Dark’ Lessons Darth Vader Can Teach Us!

Dancing in the Void by Cherie Roe Dirksen HEADER

The Geek That I Am

I’m a Star Wars junkie.  I grew up on it and even had my very own personal Luke Skywalker figurine.

As I entered my adulthood I never grew out of my lust for sci-fi.  When I jetted into my 20’s George Lucas brought out the prequels to this trilogy and I was back in exo-politics heaven again.

Thankfully, my husband is also a total Star Wars fundi (a South African word for ‘expert’), so we have sci-fi marathons on the couch together and totally geek-out.  We just recently had one of our back-to-backs and it got me thinking.

Poking About the Dark Bits

So, in the movie, the ‘Dark Side’ is still part of The Force (God/Source/Universal Energy Field or whatever else you want to call it) but it is the negative scale of emotions — giving into anger, fear, betrayal, vengeance, etc.

Those emotions spiral us down a path that leads to great suffering and pain.

So what can we get out of our darker side?

  • Fumbling in the Dark — We all experience great loss and sorrow but to linger in the past does not serve us (nor did it serve Anakin Skywalker who later became Darth Vader).  The good news is that life’s hardships often make for life’s most important lessons and elevating stepping stones to self-realization.
  • Peering into the Dark — It’s okay to face our dark half and experience our darker emotions.  We all have to face the dichotomous nature of self at some point.  The key is to accept our selves, be in a place of non-judgment (especially when we face our shadow self — read more about that HERE) and rather adopt an attitude of compassion and understanding.  Know that we all have our moments but what defines our character is how we act upon them (unfortunately ‘ol Darth took the path to destruction).
  • I’m Not Afraid of the Dark — Then the ultimate lesson we can take from Darth Vader is acceptance of what is — not being afraid of the cycles of life and death and acknowledging the eternal nature of spirit.  This is something that Vader the young could not adapt to, especially when facing the death of a loved one.  His rage, fear and anger overtook him — everything seemed so ‘unfair’.  Vengeance was all he sought and the fear of loss (caused by unprecedented attachment) clouded his vision. At the very end of his life his own son showed him that love, compassion and forgiveness was the only path to true freedom.

Yoh!  Thanks George Lucas for bringing us this silver-screen gem.

Why Nothing Truly Matters!

Chaoskampf Demiurge by Cherie Roe Dirksen HEADER

Dissecting The Tao Te Ching

For those of you who are not familiar with this ancient little Chinese treasure written by Lao Tzu, the ‘Tao Te Ching’, I would like to introduce you to its many frabjous wisdoms.

For those who are ‘old hat’ with the Tao — maybe this will serve as a refreshing reminder or even a tiny glimpse at a different perspective.

In today’s blog, I will be looking at teaching no. 11 (crikey!  I sound like a school teacher!!!).

“A wheel is useful, because of the hole at the centre of the hub.

A clay pot is useful, because it contains empty space.

Doors and windows are useful, because they are gaps in the walls.

The value of what is there, lies in what is not there!”

Dude, how cool is that?

Nothing Can Be Everything

The way I interpret this pearl of pensivity is that there is value in everything — seen or unseen.

In a world where (predominantly) what can be seen or proved  is the only truth, this Lao Tzu diamond demonstrates that we shouldn’t be throwing the baby out with the bath water!

The unseen is just as valuable and palpable as the seen.  Just like the Tao.

What is the Tao?

It is the great mystery.  The absolute principle underlying the universe, uniting within itself the yin and yang and signifying ‘the way’, or code of behavior, that is in complete harmony with natural order.

Mmmmmm….what a beautiful concept.

“Vision is the art of seeing things invisible.” — Johnathan Swift

And what is life without a bit of mystery?  There are so many questions that we as humans will probably never get answers to and perhaps that is alright. We need to make our peace with that.

The very essence of enigma is a tantalizing and playful state and, of course, joy is your purpose!

3 Factors in Every Human Awakening

Escapism by Cherie Roe Dirksen HEADER

“Spiritual Alchemy is a journey which flows in three parts: awakening (seeing the truth); activating (cleansing and purifying); and anchoring (integration of all the wisdom and lessons which came before, so that you can step fully into your authentic self).” — Eleftheria Kakambouras

A Course in Magic

I recently had the honour of completing a 6 week course with holistic therapist and empowerment facilitator, Eleftheria Kakambouras (click HERE to find out more about her).

This powerful and magical journey took the group through claiming our inner God/Goddesses, beautiful guided meditations that got us in touch with our authentic selves and cleared past life and lineage blockages, healing the wounded self, merging with our sacred masculine and divine feminine aspects and paved the way for prosperity through using our innate wisdom to tune into thriving.

The Triple A’s of Awakening

I love Eleftheria’s statement (as quoted at the beginning of this blog) about the spiritual journey flowing in three parts.

“The more real you get the more unreal the world gets.” — John Lennon

Let’s take a closer look at that:

  1. AwakeningSeeing the truth.  Many of us have had our eyes pried wide open during our awakening.  It’s not an easy experience seeing the world for what it is — an illusion (dreamt up and applied, usually by indoctrination or subliminal programming, to the masses by external forces).  It takes guts and courage to move past the anger and feelings of resentment that flood us when we realize we have been misled and lied to.  The beauty, however, lies in the world of magic beyond the veil of the illusion.  The mysterious path of truth that leads us to the Tao (the ‘Whole’ or Creator Force — whatever you want to call it).
  2. Activation —  Cleansing and Purifying.  This part of the journey is getting stuck into peeling back the layers of the onion (us)…or should we say peeling the artichoke to get to that juicy little heart.  We have to release and let go of what no longer serves us.  This transformational process can take us months or, more often than not, years (sometimes even lifetimes) but because we seem to be in the quickening energy (an accelerated epoch of planetary evolution), it’s taking quicker than previous lifetimes.
  3. AnchoringIntegrating the wisdom and lessons which came before.  Once we have cut back the ‘dead’ bits of our past and have ditched the excess baggage, we can step into the phase of acceptance and responsibility.  Everything that has happened to us on our souls sojourn has a lesson, a tasty little tit-bit for us to take and learn from.  When we get to this part, we can look back and glean the pearls of wisdom that our past offered us, take responsibility for the parts we’ve played and move into a new timeline of responsible and joyful co-creation.

We truly live in remarkable times.

Even though, when we look at the news especially, it may seem that we are nowhere near bringing about Heaven on Earth — there is something innate that tells us to stay on track because our seeds are growing and we are raising the vibration of this glorious planet.

Keep with the program — your very presence on this Earth has made a world of difference!

Reality Check: Disempowering Facebook Quotes that Lead to Waiting for ‘Soul Mate’ Reunions

Reality Check HeaderLast week I told you I was taking strides out of my comfort zone and pulling carrots from my derriere (you can read it HERE — Do You Believe in Magic?), well, here’s the first ‘episode’ of Reali-Tea Check!

I’m hoping to make it a regular feature here, so do stay tuned and remember to SIGN UP or follow the blog (in the sidebar).

I’m going to be digging into a facebook quote that was doing the rounds this week and why, if taken the wrong way (I’m not too sure if there’s a ‘right’ way but maybe you can chime in with your take on it), it could be very disempowering.

Enjoy!

Do You Believe in Magic?

Heather with Blue Butterflies by Cherie Roe Dirksen

I’m not going to be talking about the kind of magic that sees rabbits being pulled out of hats or pretty pink-clad fairy princesses riding on unicorns pulling candy-floss out of their arses.

No.  Magic exists, it just might not be in the shape or form of what we’re told magic is.

Magic is something unique and individual.  Miracles happen too, they’re just in the eye of the beholder.  Beauty is as paradoxical as magic and miracles but beauty exists, doesn’t it?

Beyond Your Boundaries Lies Wonderland

I am doing a 6 week course with the multi-talented, Eleftheria Kakambouras (you can visit her beautiful site HERE), and she said something that really stood out for me, ‘Magic happens outside of your comfort zone”.

Ooooooh — love that!

How profound!  But what does it mean?  Does magic even exist, I mean really?

Well, like I said before, I do think magic exists — it’s going to be different to each individual according to your beliefs, filters, experience and perspective.

Magic Redefined

What is magic for me?

The dictionary definition for magic says it all:  “The power of apparently influencing the course of events by using mysterious or supernatural forces.”

I find magic in synchronicity.  When you start to pay attention to synchronicity and how these ‘meaningful coincidences’ can change your life, you’ll start to rethink your definition of magic.

What about telepathy?  I have a few friends that share this awesome ‘magic’ trick every now and again.  It may not be your conventional idea of telepathy but we sure as hell read each others minds from time to time and across vast distances.

Magic is about bridging the seen and the unseen, however that looks in your universe.

So, what Eleftheria said about magic happening outside your comfort zone is all about pushing yourself beyond your own limitations — what you believe or think you are capable of and/or what ‘magic’ may really look/feel like to you.

The ball is in your proverbial court.

Try to conceive magic as going beyond your boundaries of what is ‘real’ and hoisting your ass out of comfort and normality (thanks for that pearl of wisdom, El!).

Fear Versus Magic

My phobia has been filming myself.  I’ve done it once or twice before and absolutely hated it.

That was so outside of my comfort zone because I had to deal with how I sound (eeeek) and all the idiosyncrasies of how I pull my mouth or flick my hair (yes, a bit OCD, I know!) or just what an absolute idiot I can be (now I just call it mad and proud!).

Magic Come Forth and Carrots Be Gone!

The magic arose for me whilst I was filming.

I am attempting to put together a series of vlogs for Youtube, so, I knew I had to face this demon and step out of my cushy little world of typing behind a computer screen.

I started off by video journaling every day (baby steps) — just little 2-3 minuters about my day or anything that popped into my head.  As I continued to do this I realized I was actually starting to become more ‘loose’, fluid and confident — a little more of ‘me’ in there.

I always felt that in the past, when I filmed myself, it was like someone had inserted a giant carrot up my backside because my ‘performance’ was so stiff and contrived.

Finally my ‘magic’ had seeped in and I was outside my ring of comfort and actually enjoying the results.

You Define the Magic

This is what I mean about magic being what you bring to it (how you define it not what society says it is).

A few weeks ago I would have told you it would take a miracle for me to be comfortable in front of a camera and now I am actually liking it!

I hope that this ability will open new and exciting doors for me — even if it is only to be able to truly express myself (all carrots removed).

Abraca-fecking-dabra!

Magic is what you make of it.  If people laugh at you for believing in magic — let them!

Are you having fun with your version of magic?  Yes?  Well then that’s all that matters.  Leave them to create their own reality without magic — there should be no judgment from either side.

How do you step out of your comfort zone and experience magic? You can make a start by asking yourself these questions:

  • What is it that you’re avoiding?
  • Is it something that makes you feel uncomfortable?
  • Do you know that this is the one thing that could unblock a lot for you?
  • Perhaps even lead you to greater opportunity?
  • How could you plot a course to overcome it bit by bit?
  • Are you willing to give it a try?
  • Are you willing to look at the world in a new light and experience magic of your own making?
  • Can you think of 3 things that happened in your life that had a magical essence about them?  This could be dreams that have come true to situations that turned into miracles when you thought the worst would happen.

See if you can give magic a more personal meaning.

I have managed to record a short and sweet blurb on following your bliss for all my readers out there who are more keen on watching than reading :D.  You know who you are!

“Of all the spiritual and self-help books I’ve read, courses and workshops I’ve attended and inner work I’ve done – one question keeps popping up:  What is my purpose?  With equal vehemency, I’ve also found that the answer to this question is always and emphatically:  Joy.  Joy is your purpose.”

I’ll be discussing the steps you can take today to recognize and follow through on your passions.

  • Ever thought of leaving your job to do something you really want to do?
  • Been too scared to take the leap?
  • Finding it hard to take action?
  • Or perhaps you don’t even know what you want to do?
  • Maybe you don’t know how to make the transition?

I may be able to help.

Of all the spiritual and self-help books I’ve read, courses and workshops I’ve attended and inner work I’ve done — one question keeps popping up:

  • What is my purpose?

With equal vehemency, I’ve also found that the answer to this question is always and emphatically:

  • Joy.

Joy is your purpose.

Why You Should Start Loving Money Today!

Beach Fun by Cherie Roe Dirksen

How About Singing a New Tune?

Love is an amplifier — when you feel love it’s the most powerful energetic vibration in the universe (IMHO).

When you feel lack it brings more lack.  Ergo, shouldn’t we start packing up all our preconceived and deep-seated feelings that money is the root of all evil?  How about we start declaring that we LOVE money.

Did you feel a shudder just then?  It’s difficult for a lot of us to say that we love money!

It’s especially hard when you’re on a ‘spiritual’ path — aren’t you supposed to renounce money?

Why think that?

Money is a Tool — Nothing More, Nothing Less

Money is our current form of energy exchange.  It is a useful tool to get what we need.

The only ‘evil’ is what you do with the money.  We need to start getting VERY clear about why we want the green stuff.

If it’s to impress someone outside of yourself or gain some sort of prestige, you’re going to hit a wall.

Here’s a quick guide to check in to see if you’re wanting money for the right or wrong reasons (I use the terms ‘right and wrong’ very loosely as they are only perspectives — but I think you’ll know what I mean):

  • To want money to prove to your friends/parents that you’re successful — not so good reason (you’ll be out of alignment when you seek fulfillment outside of yourself).
  • To want money to travel the world and experience different cultures, etc — good reason (you’re doing it for yourself).

It can sometimes take the slightest of tweaks to align yourself with your true desires.

If you’ve always wanted money to buy a house and find that deep down inside you’ve wanted this desperately to impress your parents, well, try to align your new desire for a house to satisfy your needs (i.e. I want a house so that I can plant a sustainable garden and/or feel like I’m part of a community).

Manifestation, as far as I’m concerned, needs to be in line with your spirit (i.e. your specific journey).

Letting Go of Brainwashing

If you’ve had blocks regarding money now is the time to chuck ‘em out the window!

Money isn’t to blame, you are.  Harsh, yup…but for those of us who have money blockages, we need a cold bucket of water dumped on our heads now to snap us out of this cycle.

There is a fear of success, did you know that?

Why would you fear success/wealth?

  • You may fear the tax man. Being rich means a lot of taxation and paperwork, right?
  • You may fear what people think of you if you were loaded (how do you view the rich — with loathing? Contempt? ‘Oh, he’s such an arrogant bastard, rich son of a b**tch’…bingo!  You are going to subconsciously worry about mirroring these beliefs and not want people to say those things behind your back).
  • You may fear the wrong type of attention you’ll get when you’ve got a fat bank balance (you know, the vultures come a-hovering).
  • You may fear that people will then only like you for what you’re worth or what they can get out of you. There is a fear of being taken advantage of.
  • You may fear that you’ll go off the deep end and wind up sipping cocktails, snorting coke and dancing with loose naked men/women on yachts and totally neglect your spiritual path.
  • You fear that money truly is from the devil and all it will bring is material, superficial pleasures that will lead to pain.

I’m here to tell you…bullshit.

You can actually be a really nice person and be rich…lol.  There are plenty of them in the world.

Dissecting the Nonsense We Tell Ourselves

If you can’t tell a genuine friend from a blood sucker by now, money is the least of your problems and growing a backbone may need to take top priority.

If you fear inland revenue, you’re always going to — whether you’re rich or poor.  Bonus is, if you’re rich you can hire an accountant.  So, don’t use that excuse as an obstruction.

If you fear what other people think, then you need to read this article and give yourself a kick up the arse: 9 Truths to Stop You  From Caring What Other People Think

If you really think money is from the devil, you may want to navigate to another site at this point.  People created money and it was actually a rather splendid idea — it solved a lot of problems that bartering alone couldn’t solve.

If you fear what you may do if you are rich (as in getting jacked up with too much honey and funny business) I think you’d know by now what kind of person you are.  You’re not going to suddenly change your tune if you get money and if you do, well, then there is a massive lesson in it for you that you had to obviously experience.

Just don’t let the ‘what if’s’ be your crutch.

Energy Exchanges and Changes

However, the true test is to not become attached to money.  If another system comes along that works better than money, great!  Just don’t see money as the enemy cause the only person you end up hurting is yourself.

Your perception of money could be the very thing holding you back from your wealth.

Declare every morning without guilt, shame or any other crappy little negative nuance, “I LOVE money”.  Remember to mean it!

If you feel constricted in your solar plexus (stomach area) or anywhere else you need to deeply go into why you feel anxious about declaring your love for loot. Be honest with yourself — there’s a lot at stake.

When I first tried declaring ‘I love money’ I felt really agitated in my solar plexus and I went on to discover that I felt a lot of fear around success (most of the above list was ticked!).

Then I got clear about it and realized it was all nonsense and stuff that I could chuck out quite easily.

Money isn’t the problem — people are.  Money can be a great tool for both good and evil.  The choice is yours.

Trust yourself to be a human being who wants the best for all humanity — abundance is our true birthright.  Start believing it!

By the way, ‘I love money’ can be used for anything you want to manifest.  For example:  ‘I love being healthy’.  Use the word ‘love’ as your new amplifier and trust in divine flow.

Why Rejection Can Be Our Saviour

Sorrow by Cherie Roe Dirksen

You’re Such a Reject!

Rejection is not something we take to kindly.

Rejection, for most, is something to be avoided at all costs and if encountered we tend to slip into self-doubt, shame, self-flagellation and a variety of other negative emotions.

The thought of entering a situation that could lead to rejection makes us feel vulnerable.  Eeek!  Another word that sends shivers down the spines of the most hardy.

But why?

Vulnerability — The Gateway to Testing the Waters of Potential

What is interesting is that vulnerability can indeed lead to rejection but rejection only ever equates to not being in vibrational alignment or frequential match to what we think we want.

We should not take rejection personally.

In other words, when we experience rejection it is actually the universe saving us time and trouble when something is not in alignment with our destination.

We may not see it at the time and pine for what we think we ‘lost out’ on but we need to realign with the truth that it wasn’t meant to be in the first place and something else that is a frequential match is on the way.

Sometimes we are so hung up on the rejection that we miss the opportunity that the rejection made way for.

Savvy?

Embracing Rejection

Now you can face rejection with the renewed optimism that it is a divining rod that will eventually lead us to that bountiful spring!

Allow yourself to be vulnerable when you need to test the waters of a potential desire.  If rejected then allow yourself to hold your head high as you stride over to the next potential.

Rejection ultimately leads to refining your path.

Warning: 4 Reasons Why You Should Avoid Venus Fly-Traps

Girl with Flower Banner

“If everybody minded their own business, the world would go around a great deal faster than it does.” — The Duchess (Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland)

Hmmm, yes.  What is it about human nature that keeps our noses continuously stuck in other people’s affairs?

In my short and humble opinion, there are 4 possible reasons that instantly spring to mind (and they all involve a Venus Fly-Trap).

  1. The Smoky Mirror (a definite trap!)
  2. Avoidance (another trap that doesn’t involve Venus but a sticky void and a particularly intriguing dance.)
  3. Self-Importance/Ego (just like an irritating fly that won’t go away — where’s a trap when you need one?)
  4. Drama Addiction (the fully grown Venus Fly-Trap, or, perhaps more of a ‘shut your trap!’)

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall — Who’s the Smokiest of Us All?

Let’s take no.1 — that smoky mirror analogy.  People that volunteer themselves to get entwined in the business of their fellow man, usually have some characteristic of what they are judging about others lurking about in their own foggy behavior.

Sometimes we hide these attributes so well, that we can’t seem to see those attributes in ourselves.  This takes a lot of introspection to weed out.

Next time you find yourself judging someone else’s behavior, try to see if there is any essence of ‘you’ in the opinion.

The ‘smoky mirror’ (smoky = hard to see through, mirror = others reflected in us) is not going to be the case every time you identify or see a particular unnerving trait in another but the projection of our own inadequacies sure does tend to happen a lot, so be aware and look out for it — best to nip this mannerism in the bud before the bud turns into a fairly peckish Venus Fly-Trap and makes a meal out of you.

Dancing in the Void (A-Void-Dance)

No. 2 is similar to no. 1.  Avoidance is just not being able to take responsibility for your own short-comings, so you deflect the attention to make yourself look and feel better.  In other words, you know you’re a gossip but you make sure you let the world know what an even bigger tittle-tattle Peggy-Sue is.

Now you’ve safely fudged over your own issues.  However, before success settles in just remember that you’ve  got to face your shadow head-on or that Venus Fly-Trap is gonna get ya!

Shoo Fly —  Don’t Bother Me!!!

“…nothing kills the ego more than hilarity and humility…”

Good ‘ol no. 3 is that juicy little shit-stirrer — the ego.  The ego thrives off drama and misery and putting itself ahead of the pack.  Sticking your nose into someone else’s business is ego-fodder.

You can make yourself better than, slimmer/tottier (I’m sure I just made that word up!) than, prettier/handsomer than, cleverer than, more successful than so-and-so just because it gives your ego those 15 minutes of superiority— even if you don’t say it out loud.

The silent ego is just as dangerous as the overly loquacious  e-goo (terribly gooey and all that jazz).

Just like the sticky residue in the Venus Fly-Trap — your icky e-goo can get you into some sticky situations if you are not aware it’s rearing that self-important head (down boy!).

When the ego has you by the short and curlies, you tend to compare yourself and you’re usually the one that comes out on top.  However, don’t be fooled!  The ego is cunning and manipulative and can make you feel less than too.  Both are a trap and both are easily avoided with the light of your illuminating awareness.

Have a good laugh at your ego if you find yourself in its throes — nothing kills the ego more than hilarity and humility.  Show the ego who’s boss — they key is to control the ego and not to let it control you.

The Amateur Dramatics Society — Putting on a Show Near You!

“Remember that taking offence is a choice.”

No. 4 is like the smorgasbord of the lot — you can find a little bit of each trait in no. 4 — the drama addict!

Have you noticed how some people cannot live without drama?

There you are trying to get off the wheel of karma and leave your drama at the door while others are trying to hook you back into the cycle.

There are some people who will purposefully go out and purchase a ravenous Venus Fly-Trap, stick their finger in the jaws of the plant and howl when it clamps down and draws blood.  If you are one of these eager consumers, I wish you luck on your journey and can’t quite understand the pay off.

However, if you are someone who wants to keep a potting shed full of petunias rather than a carnivorous plant, take my advice and set your boundaries.

If someone is trying to lure you into drama, don’t try to run away from them (fence-sitting is just not an option anymore — you know it will always come back at you until you face it), don’t confront them with the ego (as in start an argument — you will then have stepped right into the trap and fed the drama) — simply speak your truth or stand firm in your conviction (whatever that may be) and walk away if appropriate.

Empowerment is always about standing your ground and not letting people overstep your boundaries and doing that in a way that does not provoke aggression or submissiveness.

You’ve got to aim straight down the center and tell it like it is — speak your truth and straight from the heart.  If you offend someone, that is their choice and they will have to deal with it.  Remember that taking offence is a choice.

The Long and Short of Your Schnozzle

As you probably figured out by now, this article has got very little to do with Venus Fly-Traps — disappointing, I’m sure.  So, what’s the moral of this tale?  Live and let live.

You can powder your nose, you can blow your nose, heck, you can even pick your nose if that’s your thing — but whatever you do, keep your nose out of other people’s business.  If they want your hooter present they’ll ask for it.

How to Use the Void to Manifest

Bluebirds by Cherie Roe Dirksen

New Energy, New World

You may have noticed that the Mayan ‘end of the world’ calendar has come and gone (21/12/2012). We are now supposedly in ‘Year 2′ of this advanced and illustrious new age/paradigm/Earth.

Can you feel it?

Or are you feeling more like you’re stuck in a void with endless karma and drama being flung at your feet?

The Roots are Strong

The good news is that we are in a new energy and in order for the new to emerge the old has to die — and it’s dying hard!  What does that mean?  Well, in a nutshell, old energy is going down kicking and screaming.

It may look like the negative, base, ‘Mad Max’ war-ridden world is winning but it’s roots are rotten.  Smoke and mirrors are being used to prop up these decaying, useless ways.

The new shoots are still young but their roots are strong and fixed in integrity and love.  We have created another realm — it just needs our full attention now to manifest itself.  It’s going to happen one soul at a time — cheesy but true.

‘Okay, so what does this mean practically for me today?’, I hear you ask.

Understanding the Wind Down to Wind You Up!

When an old system winds down we get thrust into clearing out and preparing for the new — something like moving house.  You usually end up throwing stuff out, cleaning your butt off and scaling down dramatically — this is a great metaphor for when we shift into a new paradigm.

You have to get rid of the old baggage to step into a new world.  So a lot of you will have found yourself doing copious amounts of emotional, karmic, mental and physical clearing the last few years.

So, when the end of 2012 hit us we were at the bottom end of winding down…then came the void of 2013.  Boy!  Did any of you feel at a loose end the WHOLE year?  Well, I sure did.

We overcame!  Now we’re almost half way through 2014 — the promised year of manifestation.  However, some people are still stuck in the void energy.

The definition of void is empty space.  This is good news!  Here you can create anything you want — even more void…as in ‘avoidance’ or a void dance!  So use the void wisely.

The void/darkness is the gateway to all mystery and manifestation — the door to understanding this universe we’ve created.

Using the Void

In the Tao Te Ching you can use the Tao any way you want — it is empty but inexhaustible.

What is the Tao?   In Chinese philosophy, it is the absolute principle underlying the universe.  It is a combination of yin and yang and signifies the way that is in harmony with the natural order.

Is it hard to use the void?  No.

Here’s what to do:

  • Align with your thoughts.  Thoughts create everything in the universe.  What are you thinking about the most?  Be completely honest with yourself.  Can you see how you are consciously or, as the case may be, even unconsciously bringing about manifestations in your life that are aligning with what you think about? Okay, most of you probably know this point by now — it’s ‘old school’ stuff but it’s of primary importance and here’s why:  Manifesting has become increasingly more instantaneous!  Holy crap, my hombre!  Hold onto your hats…
  • Manifest wisely.  Instant manifestation can be dangerous for some and great for others.  This is why getting clear with what your mind is harping on about is of the utmost significance now.  We’re in a potent manifesting energy, where you are going to have things pop up with much more speed than before — good or bad.
  • Use the void as your clean slate.  What does this mean?  Get clear today, hell, even right now, on what you want to see unfold in the next 6 – 12 months.  Be specific, write it down, read it out every morning and take action where you can — then detach from the outcome and watch out for synchronicities that will point you in the right direction (read more about that HERE).  Most people don’t even know what they want to manifest so they just leave it to fate.  Wake up call!  Fate is you unconsciously manifesting whatever you’re thinking about the most!  So you can become a conscious co-creator of your reality or you can subject your life to your random and vague inner dialogue.

Are You Manifesting More Void?

The biggest trouble I’m seeing at the moment is people who say that nothing is manifesting in their life.  Wrong!  If this is you, you are manifesting too but you are in the void and therefore you are manifesting more ‘void’ when you say or think that ‘nothing is happening’.

Take a look at that phrase, ‘nothing is happening’.  So be it — your wish is the Tao’s command!

Get it?  I hope so — happy manifesting!

Feel Like a Rug Has Been Pulled Out From Underneath?

The Boys by Cherie Roe DirksenI’m here with another sneak peek that I was able to grab from the producers of the When Everything Changes, Change Everything: Highlights from an Extraordinary Spiritual Renewal Retreat with Neale Donald Walsch DVD, which presents a huge number of the tools in his book and how to apply them into real life situations.

Ever Got Your Hopes Up For Nothing?

One attendee felt like he had lost it all. He was a filmmaker who had mad passion for his film, only to have his project be picked up by a studio. All his dreams and aspirations looked like they were finally going to come true. Contracts were being drawn up, production schedules being set. He felt he had finally made his big break.

And then, one day, it all stopped.

The studio dropped his project, and it was deemed “impossible” to be made even by another studio due to the specific type of project. He felt his dreams shatter. He said he understands that he should be okay with it and move on, but it’s easier said than done. “How do you let go?” he asks.

Neale offers these words:

Sometimes we confuse purpose with function. And we think that our purpose is to achieve something and that there’s only one way to function that out. But if we get very clear, we get very aware that the fulfilling of a purpose does not require the performing of a specific function in a particular way. There may be other ways to meet that same purpose.  Most people because of the limited perspective that they hold confuse function and purpose. And when the function is taken away it looks as if the purpose can’t be fulfilled.

Neale also explains what happens when we realize that there are other ways to fulfill our purpose than just one, and explores how to determine what one’s purpose is.

Waiting For the Right Door

It’s important to remember that just because one door closes it doesn’t necessarily mean that your idea is not sound — there are plenty of other doors that will make themselves available to you when you are in alignment with your purpose.

Sometimes those doors also don’t look exactly like what we expect — so it’s also important not to try and control the outcome (i.e. ‘I only want a pink door with oak finishes‘ instead of allowing: ‘I trust the Universe’s door will be the quickest way to my success’).

We sometimes give up just before the right door is about to open.

Is Today the Day to Take Charge and Change your Situation?

If you are at a loss as to how to navigate the changes in your life, I recommend this informative and memorable time with Neale, all packed into a 7-disc DVD set of highlights from his Spiritual Renewal Retreat, which has just been released today, Thursday, April 24th.

Obviously nothing can compare with attending one of Neale’s retreats in person, but these highlights, filmed at an actual live retreat, give you the next best thing.

White Poppies by Cherie Roe Dirksen

I mentioned last week (you can read it here: Do You Want Something to Change in Your Life?) that highlights of Neale Donald Walsch’s Spiritual Renewal retreat based on his book When Everything Changes, Change Everything will be released soon on DVD.  It is now scheduled to come out on April 24th, and I’ve been given a sneak peek to what’s inside.

I’m bringing this to you in hopes that, if you may be going through something similar upon your journey, it may provide some level of support.

Dealing with Death

One of the attendees tells their story about their grandchild. Her daughter was extremely excited to welcome a new baby into her world. But then, seven days later the baby passed. The grandmother has begun to cope, but her daughter still mourns. The grandmother desperately wants to make her own child feel better, but she is at a loss.

Neale counsels:

Emotional or physical pain is simply a physiological experience. Simply an objective experience you are now moving through. Suffering, however, is your decision about it. Suffering is your announcement that what’s happening right now should not be happening. As soon as you agree with what’s happening, your suffering will end. Your pain may not, but your suffering will end, even as the pain goes on.

Neale then explains the difference between pain and suffering, and offers his thoughts on why one’s passing – especially one that seems ‘too soon’ – occurs.  He also helps this attendee with suggestions on how to deal with seeing her child suffer.

  • What change may be going on in your life that leaves you feeling hopeless?
  • Is it something you wish to change?
  • Or perhaps someone you care about is going through change and you wish to change their hopelessness?

We must always remember that it helps to hold compassion, patience, and love regardless.

About Time Header

“For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin-real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.”  ~ Alfred D’Souza

Movies and Revelations

Don’t you just love it when a movie hits on a spiritual epiphany?

I was watching a flick called ‘About Time’ when something profound cuffed me upside the head. It’s actually nothing new — just another perspective of that elusive pot of gold called present moment awareness.

Brain Enemas and Rosy Tinted Specs

I felt like some zesty lemon juice had been poured through every wrinkled crevice of my brain — cleansing out all that old fluff that seemed to be impairing my vision.

Most of us are aware of ‘the present’ and just how important it is to stay grounded and supremely concentrated in the moment because this is where our joy lies. We know now that future yearning (or fretting, as the case may be) and past residues keep us forever longing for our bliss, like a carrot being dangled in front of an ass (yes, deliberate use of ass as I think we can all relate to feeling like one from time to time).

The thing is, we sometimes feel bogged down in this world full of chaos but we can always don our rose-coloured glasses to be able to see the beauty in the maelstrom.

But how can we effectively live in the moment?

Living This Day Again

For those of you who haven’t seen the movie, there was a scene where the time-traveling father says to his time-traveling son that the one thing he’d learned about being able to repeat history is going back and living the same day over twice.

Seems pretty strange, doesn’t it?  Who would want to repeat the same day again?

However, his son tried it out and on the first day he hustled and bustled through a typical working day, missing out on all the delights that could have been because he neglected to see that each moment was a gift. He then went back on the same day and things went differently. Because he had already lived the day before, he knew that every obstacle or worry in his day would be sorted out so he approached this day with joy and ease.

1. He delighted in his encounters with people.

2. He put people’s minds at rest that everything was going to be alright with resolute authority.

3. He treasured every sacred moment with his wife and family.

4. He had fun. The scales had dropped from his eyes — the world hadn’t changed, how he experienced in it had.  Life wasn’t about one drama after another, nor was it about worrying and fearing the future — it was about relishing the moment and truly living each day as if it were the last. To take things as they come and know that all things will pass, so all will be well.

A New Recipe for Life

How many of you stress about death (not just your own but people or animals you love), worry about situations, get anxious over things you need to do?  I’m guessing quite a lot of you.

I’ve been having my fair share of problems lately ranging from family to business but the one thing that keeps on boomeranging back to me is just to let it be (thanks to The Beatles for pointing that one out!).

Be in the world, not of it — don’t sweat the small stuff.

Point is: You create your world and a good place to start is to be grounded in each moment. Be present in your life and don’t let events just take place around you. Be the event!

Here is a list of things you may need to allow:

1. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.  Alchemize your negative situations by finding the diamond in the rough. Diamonds are produced by coal being under extreme stress — turn your stress into a precious gem.  There’s something in every situation for us to learn and grow by.

2. Accept that which you can’t change by trusting in divine flow. Send love and turn your situation around by visualizing how you would like to see it play out. Keep realigning to your desired outcome through positive affirmation and clear visualizations and you’ll be surprised how things turn out for the better.

3. React if you need to — blow off steam, vent, scream… shout, shout, let it all out (shed your fears through tears — Tears for Fears)!  But then give yourself time and space to clear your mind, meditate and ground yourself. When you are calm and relaxed, solutions tend to rear their heads. Nothing can get through the fog of anger and frustration, so remember to meditate daily.

4. Reality can be harsh but remember that you are spirit having a corporeal experience — learn the art of detachment and you will soar higher than you ever imagined! After putting this list into practice, I find myself surrendering to the present moment a lot lately and blissing out even amidst the most chaotic of times (once I’ve had a good cry about it, of course!).

Take Back Control

Some things in life can’t be completely controlled but we can sure influence them to our greatest good by taking a leaf out of ‘About Time’s’ script and treasuring people’s company, finding bliss in the mundane and being the still presence that helps other people to be cool, calm and collected.

Do You Want Something to Change in Your Life?

NDW header

I’ve always enjoyed Neale Donald Walsch’s books.  Remember the Conversations with God book series?  I sure do, it was an integral part of my own awakening.

His book, When Everything Changes, Change Everything, is one that discusses vital tools to cope with change — that very thing that is always constant in our lives.

Sometimes we don’t like the change we’ve encountered, whether it’s a:

  • love one who’s passed,
  • a lost job,
  • or lost opportunity.

But they happen.

How We Deal With Change

These changes can feel absolutely devastating to some of us. Feelings of “why me?” and “how could this happen?” and “this is a nightmare, this is not real,” are some things we may ask as we shake our fists to the heavens and feel like our world has flipped upside down.

Neale offers this from his book:

“Most of us have experienced events which we have called, when they were happening, the worst moments of our lives, only to find as time went by that what occurred was one of the best things that ever happened to us.”

Think of how this can be true with any change that may be occurring in your life, or even something in your past that you thought was horrible at the time but turned out to lead you down a path that was appropriate for your spiritual growth.

This is how we mine our experiences for the treasures that they actually present us with (albeit difficult to see this ‘gift’ when we are still in the thick of it).

Help is at Hand

An online help center has been created to keep the outreach going on this subject that can be found at CWGHelpingOutreach.com.

This book has also been the focus of a Spiritual Renewal Retreat led by Neale, highlights of which will soon be released on DVD (for those of you who prefer to put your feet up and enjoy the visuals).  It will allow you to go further into the framework of change, taking a closer look at deep issues of change and how to deal with them.

I’m not entirely sure when the release date for this DVD will be but I’ve been told it will be sometime in April/May 2014, so I’ll keep you posted.

How to See Divinity in Living Colour

Rock Art Buckley Timeline

The Palette of Existence

Here’s a short but, hopefully, thought-provoking look at the ‘light’ and ‘dark’ energy of existence.

When you mix all the colours of the spectrum together physically (as in with paint) you get a muddy brown/black (let’s call this the ‘dark’ side).

When light refracts, it splits into all the colours of the spectrum. All separate yet integrated beautifully (let’s call this the ‘light’ side) — we have that much marveled over rainbow or prism.

White light is produced also by spinning all the colours to produce white light (as in Newton’s colour wheel — VIEW HERE).

Can you see how each are the same thing and a part of the Source/God/Creator? The same thing (colours) just in different states.

Dual Perspectives

The dark side is experiencing the chaos of being in a quantum soup state and the light side has organised itself and is experiencing harmonic order — chaos vs. order.

There is no judgment – only learning and pushing yourself beyond the boundaries of your own limitations.  The question is:  which state do you choose to experience?

Can Music Jump-Start Humanity’s Awakening?

Musical Ensemble by Cherie Roe Dirksen

“Music can change the world because it can change people.” — Bono

Music is a powerful, invisible force — from the heart-expanding sound of a nightingale to the gut-wrenching frequencies that all genres of music can sting you with.

I think you would be hard-pressed to find a single human being who doesn’t love music in some form or another.

Music Goes Straight for the Jugular

Music has played a vital role in bringing global issues to the ears of thousands, if not millions, of people.

We had The Beatles gift us with ‘All you need is love’ — not only a catchy, warm and fuzzy chorus but a very wu wei (non-doing/action) spiritually insightful message in the verse.

The 1970’s had Neil Young courageously recording ‘Ohio’ — a brave and gutsy protest song highlighting the shocking shooting of 4 student protesters at the hands of the National Guardsmen under the Nixon government.

Eddy Grant made a stand with his anti-apartheid song, ‘Gimme Hope Jo’anna’ and Bob Geldof with Midge Ure managed to put together Live Aid, the global jukebox which brought the entire world together through music for a cause — an estimated 1.9 billion viewers watched the live broadcast.

“Music is the shorthand of emotion.” — Leo Tolstoy

These are but a few examples of music spreading messages like wild-fire — let’s face it, the news reaches a select few whilst music reaches the masses.

Would You Like Some More Subliminal Politics with Your Rock?

More recently we had British band, Muse, naming an entire concert ‘HAARP’ just to bring about more awareness to the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program.  And let me tell you, it worked!

I had no idea what HAARP was until I saw the concert and got curious.  It enticed me to watch the documentary, ‘Angels don’t play this HAARP’ — which I highly recommend.

“Music doesn’t lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.” — Jimi Hendrix

And who didn’t simply relish the Red Hot Chili Peppers for ‘Californication’ — the tempting yet fake dark-side of the Hollywood dream?

Music exposes us to issues and rattles our cages.  It galvanizes us to take action, it can be the biggest catalyst for change.

“None but ourselves can free our minds.” — Bob Marley

Stuck in The Net and Punching the Sky!

I have worked with musician, Templeton, on many of his projects — from designing 3 of his album covers to working on his music videos.  When he called on me to help him edit his latest project, ‘The Net’, I was blown away!

His song really got me all energized and stirred something in me that was palpable — like I needed to stick it to the man (whilst playing some air-guitar)!

This got me thinking about music and it’s influence on the masses, which inevitably culminated in this article you’ve just read.

Before I introduce you to the song that sparked off this blurb, I want to ask you (because I know I’ve left out a gazillion songs that need mentioning here):

  • What song does it for you?
  • Which timeless classic gets you riled for action, firing on all cylinders, ready to take on the fat cats, electrifies your mind, enlightens your soul or was just darn right instrumental in your awakening?

Please leave your comments below.

Back to ‘The Net’…

“The chorus exclaims a lot of ‘Yada yada yada’ which is an urban term for a conversational gloss-over, much like ‘blah blah blah’ (empty talk). It is also a Hebrew word meaning ‘to know’, which is what this song is truly about — to get people to know the truth and to stop listening to all the bullshit.” — Templeton (excerpt from song description)

This song is worth sharing — from it’s unstoppable toe-tapping, rock beat to the underlying message of exposing the distorted media, the imminent uprising of the youth and the most obvious solution to all the global BS.  Here it is:

Catch up on last weeks Rock Art Series Painting no. 6 reveal HERE.

2010_10150014Now you’ve seen the painting, how did I get to the title and what led me to paint the very odd scene depicting pond-scum, moon goddesses, a phoenix and a serpent — just to name a few?!

Battling the Chaos

Chaoskampf is German for the struggle against chaos — demiurge means ‘god’.

What in the blazes is this painting about?

Come stumble down the rabbit-hole with me on this, the most outlandish rock art adventure yet!

The Emotions Whilst Painting

Chaoskampf Demiurge lr

‘Chaoskampf Demiurge’ by Cherie Roe Dirksen — Rock Art Painting no. 6 (Templeton)

Now, if you’ve just joined this Rock Art journey, let me fill you in on it a bit:  I paint to the music of the selected artist (in this case, Templeton) and paint whatever comes to me in the process (a kind of meditative, ‘mindless’ painting).

I jotted down, on the side of the canvas stretcher, the emotions being stirred whilst I put paint and various bits of other matter to canvas.  It went something like this:

  • Strength
  • Powerful
  • Humble
  • Life by Design
  • Life by Desire
  • Fire/Flame/Phoenix
  • Sea of Emotion
  • Passion
  • Passivity

A lot of these emotions seem dichotomous.  Thing is, I think this painting is essentially about dichotomy and the duality of life — especially the ‘light’ and the ‘dark’. This seems to represent the power struggle of two opposing sides.

Breaking it Down and Dipping into Legend

2So, we have a bevy of beautiful, wistful goddesses bathing in moonlight on the upper left hand side of the painting — a very poignant display of femininity.

We have a pond (no, it’s not a ‘cosmic’ scene as such — I checked in with spirit right at the end and was told this upper part of the painting is water.  I therefore did a blue glass paint wash over it, so in the flesh, it looks more fluid) — the water is imbued with binary code (like in the Matrix), infinity symbols (8) and what looks like giant eyeballs.

1The ‘eyeballs’ feel to me like clusters of cells — the start of life — especially as the serpent of chaos seems to be electrifying it into existence.  Alternatively, the serpent could be giving ‘shock treatment’ to the organism, inducing a perpetual state of amnesia to its true state of divinity.  Hmmm…

Speaking of the little green dude — the serpent, I am quite convinced is our very own Apophis (read more about Apophis — Serpent of Chaos — HERE). He could also be a quantum representation of our dear (sarcasm) Brotherhood of the Serpent (BOTS) — the theorized oppressors of our very existence on this planet.

4In the bottom right-hand corner we have half of what looks like a vortex/void with balls of light/essence of life-forms/spirit being shot out of its center.

Finally, we have a great ruddy phoenix in the middle!  What a surprise that was for me…this painting looks like a lethal cocktail!  Feathers everywhere!

The Rise of the Phoenix

The Phoenix is a mythological creature that lives a long time and is reborn from its own ashes in a cyclical death and rebirth loop.

It is considered ‘the Royal bird’ and is also associated with the sun (in Egypt the bird god, Bennu is linked with being a phoenix). You can read more about the phoenix HERE.

Could the position of this bird in the painting be humankinds hope?  The ability of the pure gold nature of the human spirit rising up to reclaim its sovereignty and put order to chaos?

A Jewish Extraction

I found this excerpt from a site called monstropedia.org — rather interestingly, it states:

In Jewish legend, the phoenix’s name is Milcham. According to tradition, after Eve ate the forbidden fruit, she became jealous of the immortality and purity of the other creatures in the garden. Eventually, she persuaded all the animals except the phoenix to share in her fallen state by eating from the forbidden tree. God rewarded the phoenix by setting him up in a walled city where he could live in great peace for 1000 years. At the end of every 1000-year period, the bird is consumed by fire and reborn from an egg found in its ashes. One variation of this Jewish legend states that at the end of each 1000-year period, the phoenix’s body becomes small and featherless like a baby’s and then he grows up all over again. In any case, the Angel of Death may never touch him.”

The Meaning and Beginning…

So, I think this picture is about our rise against chaos.

The human spirit must be victorious over our ‘invisible’ oppressors and all the illusions they have woven into the fabric of our matrix.

We are standing on the precipice — we must start to own our lives, take responsibility, realize our own divinity and power and take flight.  *Squawk!*

Stick it to the man, people!  We control our destinies and we are sovereign over our existence.  We create our lives, hell, we created the multiverses!!!  Get with the program and claim your divine rights!  Pull yourself out of the ashes and rise — make your stand.

Honouring the Legend

Copy of DSCF2989I give much thanks to the awesome musical and cosmic talents of Templeton — without which I would not have been able to probe into the depths of these mysterious legends.

I have often spoken to him about where he gets his musical inspiration from and he tells me that most of it is channeled.  He explained ‘it’s like getting downloads from the universe in the packages and forms of songs — melodies and lyrics’.

Can We Really Live Without Money? The Answer May Surprise You…

Nature Banner by Cherie Roe DirksenBalls to Capitalism!

I’ve been really doing a lot of ‘couch pondering’ (where you just sit on the couch staring at the ceiling for hours…thinking) about that retched topic — money.  God, how I love having it and, boy, how I despise the need for it.

What a stinking dichotomy!

I work for myself and, as many of you who do the same may know, it’s great and liberating to be on your own schedule but it sure has its lows — mainly financial.  By the time the end of the month starts rearing it’s bill-paying head, I have worked myself into a froth over the hows and whens of imminent account deductions.

Why can’t we all just have a gazillion dollars in the bank and live our lives the way we were meant to — in joy and creative splendor?!

Wishful Thinking or Reality?

I suppose one has to take another look at abundance and wealth to pop this little blister of a conundrum.  Is it really all about money?  Now don’t just yell out ‘YES!’.  What if we could really create abundance without the price tag?

When I set my intentions for this year and created my list of 7 things I wanted (read about how you can start your own list here:  2014 — The Year to Sculpt Your Life!) — I managed to procure 3 things on the list without spending a dime.

It was through people’s generosity and thoughtfulness that I was able to manifest a few luxury items I would have otherwise thought I could only obtain through ‘buying’.

It made me think.

Sustainable Living is Thriving!

I am also in the process of moving from the city into the countryside.  We are doing this because (a) property is SO much cheaper out there and (b) we want to start growing our own food and need land, etc with the possibility of a few rain-water tanks and solar panels.

Just making this move will cut our bills in half — I’m being deadly serious!  I simply can’t wait for the off, as I’m sure you can well imagine.

But not only will this help us to economize but it will also allow us to reduce our carbon footprint and consumerism.  I strangely enough, have a feeling of immense abundance when I look at it that way.  It doesn’t involve abundance money can buy but wealth of spirit and a heart-centered gratification.

Instead of the typical scenario of society telling us that wealth is in accumulating more and more, the truth is that cutting down and needing less provides more abundance in your life — just not in that stereotypical way.

Get your head out of your bank account and into the breeze of that freshly mown lawn!

Do You Need Something?

If you do need something — be it a new dining room suite or tin of apricots — set your intention and put it out there.  How?

  • By talking to other people about what you want (not hounding them for hand-outs but simply mentioning it if it’s appropriate to do so — you never know who you might be talking to),
  • writing your desires down on paper and reading them out to yourself every day,
  • letting go of how you are going to get it, just know that it will happen in its own way,
  • be vigilant and on the look-out for any synchronicities (read more on synchronicity here: Why Synchronicity Can Change Your Life) or signs that may bring you closer to your desire,
  • practice gratitude and
  • give where you can (generosity tends to have a boomerang effect).

Solving the Need for Money — What is the Answer?

Do these suggestions solve the need to live without money?  No, but it’s a start.

The more you put these things into practice, the more you will start seeing how we, as a more heart-centered community, can pull together and get what we all want with little or no money passing hands.

It can happen through:

  • Bartering
  • Generosity
  • Donation
  • Service/Expertise Swapping
  • Thinking Out of the Box

Make sure you are open to receive as well as to give.

Can We Live Without Dosh?

Even though we can do a lot for ourselves without money — there is still a lot of things we do need money for in order to live in modern society.  Just having no internet access alone would bring my foundations crumbling down.

I don’t have all the answers as to how we can live with less money but I do know that if we all pull together and brainstorm ways, a moneyless society could be possible in the near future.

The answer is out there, waiting for us to catch up with it.

4 Things to Get You Started

For now, all the advice I can offer you if you are having financial woes, is to put your intentions out there and think of ways you can experience abundance without money.

There are loads of things you can do or experience to make you feel extremely wealthy.

Here are a few tips:

  • Make a gratitude list of things you have (the roof over your head, your health, a full belly, the love of your cat/dog or the warm bed you sleep in at night).
  • Go be in nature — when you give yourself time and space to relax and sit on some grass or walk on the beach, you will feel the abundance of the Earth.  Lack is only a by-product of what our current society dictates to us that we must have.  Nature has everything we need and to reconnect with the wealth of the planet is a very grounding activity.  This is your planet!  You were born here and you are a citizen of the globe — your abundance lies all around you and not only in coins, printed paper or digital numbers.
  • Call on the never-ending supply of love that is all around you.  You are loved, no matter who you are.  Never forget that.  If you are reading this and thinking, ‘no-one loves me’ then you are wrong — I love you and I’m not the only one.  Feel the love that is yours to tap into whenever you are feeling low and alone.
  • Keep reminding yourself of what you would be doing right now if money was not an issue or required.  Whatever that is, focus on it and set your intention to live that way.

Please let me know if you are having any success trying to live with little or no money.  What is your take on this topic?  Leave your comments below.

10 Reasons Why I Don’t Care Anymore and Neither Should You

Elegance by Cherie Roe Dirksen BannerCan You Relate to These Questions?

There has been too much coincidence of people experiencing these symptoms for me to ignore this any longer.  Let me jump right in the deep end:

  • Are you feeling a great amount of detachment lately from things that would normally bother you regarding your career, home life, worries or life in general?
  • Do you have a ‘devil-may-care’ attitude all of a sudden (as in ‘I don’t give a hoot’ or you couldn’t be asked to bat an eyelid)?
  • Are you struggling to get going this year?  Like you’re stuck in neutral?
  • Do you try to shift gears and get things done but more stuff is piling up and you just don’t have the vooma to carry on?
  • Do you feel that nothing is worth the effort anymore and it’s time to throw in the towel?
  • Do you feel like you’re trying to fit a round into a square?  Things just aren’t fitting anymore and there you are huffing and puffing trying to make it fit!
  • Have you been asking yourself, ‘What’s wrong with me?’

You’ve just stumbled upon a major quagmire that has got most of us quasi-global citizens in it’s lethargic grip.

“What is it, what’s going on?”  I hear you cry!

I’m not 100% sure but I’m going to give it a shot filtering it through my own realizations of late.  We are experiencing a death and rebirth of our selves.

Goodbye Old Me and Hello New Who?

I’ve gone through the above questions like an old computer trying to scour for an answer to a rather outdated formula.  What have I come up with?  Here it goes:

  • I don’t care what people think of me
  • I don’t care what other’s expect of me
  • I don’t care if I die tomorrow
  • I don’t care about my career or where I thought I was heading just a few months ago
  • I don’t care if I end up under a bridge
  • I don’t care if this world is or isn’t experiencing a shift of paradigm
  • I don’t care if everything I believe to be true isn’t (ooh, there’s a big one!)
  • I don’t care that I don’t care (this is where I stick my tongue out)
  • I don’t care….well, yes, I’m sure you get the picture now

But the crux is, I think I just died to my former self.  Who am I?  No, just rather — I AM.

It feels like my mind, spirit and body have had a rather cleansing enima.  The moment I started detaching from what I wanted to manifest I, you guessed it, started to manifest all those things at a rapid pace.

I suppose you could call it your very own eternal sunshine of the spotless mind so you can start with a clean slate to create this dream life you’ve always wanted.

Why It’s Necessary to Experience Your Own Death (Metaphorically Speaking)

Because you have to truly and utterly — with every fiber of your body — die to your old way of thinking/operating/being to open up to the new paradigm that is practically kicking down your door to be let in.

You need to detach from past auto-responsive behaviours to make way for new neural connections that will allow you to react in a way that is grounded, balanced and coming from your heart and not your head.

You need to really detach from the expectations and opinions of others about you — there is no more need to defend yourself, your career (or lack of) choices, your partner (or lack of) choices, your beliefs (or lack of…lol), your version of reality (or illusion) or anything else you may have felt defensive about in the past.

IT DOESN’T MATTER ANYMORE AND YOU HAVE NO NEED TO DEFEND IT.

Phew!  What a bloody relief!!!

What Needs To Stay and What Will Depart

Those who will love and respect you enough to let you be will remain in your life and those who will not be able to bear not being able to manipulate you anymore will leave (albeit kicking and screaming).

Be the still presence and just watch how things unfold.  Don’t give in to external demands (not unless you’ve made peace with what is being asked of you) — just be silent. Eventually what needs to fall away will.

Where there is no two opposing energies feeding a situation, the energy will move on.

Walk the Talk and Dance the Tango

Now is the time to stop talking about what you know or believe and to LIVE it.  Show others by example and not by rabbiting on about it.  Dance like no-ones watching — even if it is down the aisles at your local supermarket.

Be the change you want to see (thanks, Gandhi) and live for joy and upliftment for yourself and those around you.  If someone or something tries to drag you down — alchemize them/it.  What does that mean?

Keeping You in Suspenders (a Phrase my Father Would Say in Lieu of ‘Suspense’)

How to alchemize a situation?  Ah, that’s for next weeks blog.

For now, be kind to yourself if you are going through this death/rebirth stage.  Drink plenty of water, eat wholesome foods, meditate, do yoga/go for a walk, be in nature (ground yourself!) and keep setting your intentions to feel bliss every day.

What Popped Up in a Guided Meditation About 2014…and How it Coincided With Plato

Manifesting What You Do and Don’t Want

Well, this year showed up with a tremendous thump on the head (thanks to inland revenue — need I say more?) followed by some truly spectacular fireworks and major realizations!

The good and the bad have been a-knocking at my door, testing my patience and resolve.  How have the first few weeks of this year been for you?

To sum it all up:  This year is going to be about manifesting big time!  Trouble is, if you’re thoughts aren’t in alignment with what you want, you’re also going to create what you don’t want with extreme haste (as I found out a week ago when I faced ‘external authority’).

That’s why I urge you to sit down and draw up 7 things you wish to make happen this year.  Read the blog HERE.

My Tribe and the Guided Meditation

Now, I want to share something uber personal with you.  I got together with my tribe of 4 fantastic femme’s last week for a guided meditation and goal setting orientation for the year.

It was an eye-opening experience.  But I didn’t truly ‘get’ it until I stumbled upon an animated 8 minute video illustrating a theory that Plato had (I’ll show you at the end of this blog — please do yourself a favour and watch it.  You are going to be amazed!).

It totally coincided with what my higher self was showing me in my meditation.

I’m going to try to be short and to the point and I’m going to show you the actual drawings I did whilst having the vision (so it’s going to be a bit rough).

Totems, Temples and the Source

At first, in our guided meditation, we were taken by our animal totems to a temple:

  • My totem was an owl who flew out ahead of me as my guide.

    Sun Illustration 1

    Illustration 1 – the Sun/Source

  • I got to the temple and sat down on a bench.  I looked up and saw a door and went to look through it.
  • There I saw a lake with reflections of trees in it.  I turned to my left and saw the sun/source — a brilliant white light surrounded by swirly whirly’s (see illustration 1).
  • I turned to the right and saw tree silhouettes turn into a circle (a kind of mandala — see illustration 2) and then the trees morphed into human figures (for those of you who know my art — it was very much like what I paint…see picture at the top of the blog), the branches entwining to make hearts and DNA.  I got the feeling that the tree’s represented our higher selves and the spirit realm wanting to express love and unity in our 3D reality/the dream/game of life being shown to us in the ‘higher’ realm of communication.

    Tree Circle Illustration 2

Illustration 2 – Circle of Trees

  • In the center of the circle was water and the reflections of the trees.  It sometimes shifted into the sun in the middle as well.
  • I got the impression that the water was reflecting back to us what we are creating through feeling/emotion and that the trees were actually our ‘higher selves’ or the spirit realm conducting the creations in the pool of water (our 3D reality).
  • The keywords with this vision were about love, reaching out (or ‘branching out’, as the case may be), water reflections (our 3D experience being mirrored back to us in the spirit realm and vice versa), strong unity connection (the roots of the trees were entwined as a collective experience).

The 2014 Focus

What I got from this guided meditation was to:

  1. Ground Yourself Daily — Feel connected to the earth and nature (i.e. be grounded BIG TIME!).
  2. Get Creative — Express that soul connection through creativity as often as you can.

When I tapped into the crux of what my soul was trying to convey, I got this message:

“Show what cannot be spoken.”

Now this is all great, but how does this affect you?  And where is Plato in all of this?

Well, here is the video I want you to watch:

I was introduced to this video through an article on a site called ‘2012 The Big Picture’ — You can read the article here.

After seeing this video, I got the bigger picture of the message behind the visualization I received in my meditation.  Don’t you just LOVE how synchronicity works!!! :D

UPDATE:  I have completed the painting I saw in this meditation — you can read the blog about it HERE:  The Tree of Life — Can You Relate?

8 Pointers You Need to Know When Self-Publishing Your Book

You’re probably familiar with the saying, ‘everyone’s got a book in them’ but the real question is:  how do you start taking those first steps and begin furiously tapping away at your keyboard with zesty enthusiasm?

You Could Be Holding Your Book Within 6 Short Months!

You may be surprised to learn that it is not such a gargantuan and overwhelming task — with the proper guidance and motivation, you too can be the proud author of a spanking new publication.

In fact, it is an absolute thrill to write when your heart is sunk firm into the project.  Think of the final joy of holding your book in hand and getting to press your nose deep into the spine of those crisp, new pages of your hot-off-the-press manuscript.  Heck, even I’m excited for you!

So what lies between you and that imminent caress of your books glaringly glossy cover?

Below you’ll find a list of the 8 most commonly asked questions I get about writing and publishing a book and some surprising answers:

Why Do You Want To Write a Book?

I write self-help books because I have a passion to help people and if writing about my life experiences and how I’ve overcome certain obstacles can help someone else — I am more than happy.

The writing process also helps me to put certain things into perspective on the chosen topic — i.e. writing about your experiences helps you to gain a certain amount of clarity or slant on what you have lived through.

There’s also  the fact that putting pen to paper (or, in most cases, fingers to keys) can be wholesomely therapeutic.

If there is one thing I can’t stress enough, it is to write about your experiences — what you actually know about…which brings me to ask this question:

What Experience Do You Have?

Readers are like bloodhounds and can out an author that doesn’t write from experience, wisdom and passion — there must be integrity in this process.

Even if you are writing fiction — imagination is a wonderful thing but putting structure to your fantasy requires that you know a thing or to about life and living, so get out there and soak up the vibes!

Do your research — there’s never been a better time to be a writer than in this magnificent technological age where Google provides so much information at the touch of a button.

For all you more ‘mature’ folks out there — do you remember when research meant going to the library or, even better, a trip to the state archives?  Boy, have times changed!

No matter what you write about, I feel your true motivation should always stem from the love of what you do and that you either have a message or a deep fervor for what you’re penning about.

Is Money Your Motivation?

Never write for the money.  I have got 2 books out now and I am only starting to make money from them (not enough, as of yet, to pay my bills — I do a lot of other things to keep myself afloat which is something you should think about before quitting your day job).

This is not to say that you can’t make money from writing, just that it is not a very glamorous career.  It is a lot of hard work, promotion and dedication.

I’m sure there are a trickle of overnight success stories but they are few and far between.  Most authors need to have a day or part-time job, guest write for other sites to get their name and message out there and keep up daily appearances on social networking sites to sustain momentum and remind people that they are still there.

This is not a path for the lazy or faint-of-heart.  You’ve got to believe in yourself and believe in what you do — inevitably that’s all that counts and if you only sell 1 book in your career, that should bring a smile to your face.

I think to date, I have distributed and sold just over 200 books.

It’s not nearly enough to make me a best-seller (believe it or not, having a ‘best-seller’ in South Africa apparently only requires the sale of 2000 copies due to the market now being swamped with books in this wonderful new digital age of self-publishing — but, as you can see, even at this rather low rate, I’m still a far cry away from attaining the best-seller status).

However, I’m a die-hard and ever the optimist — I’m going to keep on getting my book out there if it kills me (well, not really but the statement does add to the dramatic effect!).

Never give up on a dream!

What Can You Gain From Other Writers/Bloggers?

Learning from others beats going it alone.  There is a massive writing community out there so go be a social cyber-butterfly!

There is a guy called Jeff Goins who blogs about his writing career — I would go and study his page because he is very informative and you can learn a hell of a lot from him: goinswriter.com.

Which brings me to the next thing.  If you truly want to write, start out with a blog — that is how you will build your readership who will later want to buy your book.

Your site is your livelihood in most writers cases.

Do some research on this by yourself and you will see that a lot of people go the blogging route in order to build a reputation and a subscription list of potential readers (I find this site extremely helpful:  www.copyblogger.com— they will help you to get a successful website/blog going).

Where Do I Find Motivation To Start My Book?

With regards to getting started with writing, the story either comes or it doesn’t — i.e. you will know when a story hits you, I find you can’t force something that is not there or people will pick up on that (remember those bloodhounds are on your tail!).

So, like I said before, go out into the world and mingle with people, have adventures and live, that way you’ll have loads of inspiration to write.

How Much Writing a Day Should I Do?

When you find something that you do want to write about, dedicate at least 2 hours a day to writing.

Without a regular schedule your book will be left on the back-burner, so stick to a writing regime.  I did this with my first book — 2hrs a day, 5 days a week and finished my book within about 5 months.

The second book was a compilation of all my articles that I blogged about, so blogging has its rewards!

How Long Should My Book Be?

How long is a piece of string?  As long as it has to be, I suppose.

Some people write shorter books or short stories and some people write trilogies — so that’s up to you.  My books have been between 180 and 220 pages (roughly 50 000 — 60 000 words).

How Do I Publish My Book?

Finally and best of all, publishing your book is super easy!

With sites like ‘Createspace‘ (Amazon’s sister site for self-published authors) and another really great site called Lulu.com (and many more) you can do it all yourself at no cost.

Yes, you read right — it’s FREE!

They provide you with templates and most of them even allocate the ISBN number for you (that bar-code at the back of a book which is a unique identifying number) and all you do is upload it once your book is finished and they take care of the rest.

You can even publish eBooks (or Kindle if you’re going through Amazon) gratis through these sites.

They even offer services like editing your book/cover design, formatting, etc for a small fee.

They are a print-on-demand service, so once your book is uploaded, you can start selling straight away to the entire globe!

There are absolutely no hidden costs (at the printing of this article, at least) and you get royalties on your book.  However, most of these sites will only pay you out on a quarterly basis or when you have reached $100 threshold.

What Are Printing Costs If You Want To Do It Yourself?

If you do want a batch of your own books, then I have just got my second book printed (November 2013) by a local company (I’m from South Africa, for those who don’t know) that charged me around R4 500 (roughly $450) for 100 books.  That included the ISBN number.

So that way, there is an outlay but I tried to presell copies before I got it printed and managed to cover more than half of the cost.

Write Your Book Because It’s Your Passion And You Will Be Rewarded

Write because you love it and not because of the green stuff — that way you won’t be disappointed and if you do make the best-seller list, then that is just an awesome bonus!!!

I hope this helps you to start your writing career.  There is a ton of information out there on the net.  Not one day goes by when I haven’t read at least 2 articles about my trade, so be informed and you’ll do well.

Good luck!

5 Fundamental Steps to a Thriving Relationship

Are You Living with an Addict?

Bringing Out the Worst and the Best

We’ve just come out of, what is sometimes jokingly referred to as, the ‘silly season’.

Perhaps the subject of addiction is a bit ‘heavy’ around these joyful and optimistic 2014 vibes, however, Christmas and the New Year period can stir a hornets nest when it comes to being or living with someone who abuses any kind of addictive matter.  This can even pertain to people who are addicted to drama and get their ‘fix’ by emotionally draining you.

Countless people suffer at the hands of substance abusers.  So what better time to bring this up than now?

Have you endured the experience of life with an addict — be it an addiction to alcohol, drugs, sex or any other potentially devastating extreme?

Sometimes the relationship is not one that we can easily walk out of as in the case of a family member — especially a parent or child.

If you have had to or are living through this kind of situation, then I strongly recommend a book called ‘Confessions of an Alcoholics Son’ by Werner Schmidt, an up-and-coming South African author.

Werner sent me a copy of his book and from the moment I read page one, I was hooked.

He bravely discusses his childhood memories of being an alcoholics son and all the trials, embarassments, love, fear. empathy, laughs, regrets, disdain, good times and mortifying times that went with it.

Courage best describes this authors strongest attribute in telling his story because it takes a huge amount to divulge ones darkest, deepest secrets the way he has.

Why Should You Read This?

book

Available at Amazon (click on picture)

The book captivates from the get go and Werner allows you to step into his world where he breaks down barriers and allows the reader to catch a glimpse of the stark, cold reality of what a child, adolescent and adult has had to grapple with.

Werner delves into the darkest corners and shines a light on what most dare not speak of.

This book is worth the read even if you have not had to endure living with an addict — perhaps you know someone who has and this book could be the very life-line that person needs.

Finding Your Peace

Werner also visually lets us take a peek into his world through old family photographs — which help to paint a much more intimate and meaningful picture — along with his eloquent and emotive poetry snippets that are scattered throughout the book like tasty little biscuit crumbs.

He reveals his journey to finding inner peace and acceptance with his mother and he reconciles his life to reflect what he has learnt — a grand lesson of love, forgiveness, acceptance and compassion.

Read it and Weep

There were moments when I burst out laughing and there were times when the tears rolled down my face.  Werner provokes us to explore, with him, the purest feelings and emotions of this roller-coaster ride novel that you will not be able to put down.

I literally read the book in one sitting.

Well done, Werner, on telling your truth in a loving and compassionate way.  I think you will help hundreds, if not thousands, of people going through similar experiences to pick up the pieces and move on.

Download Werner’s book, in Afrikaans or English (free, for now), or buy it, at http://wernercreates.com/stories/confessions/

Werner’s review of ‘Carpe Diem or Bust’ below:

“I enjoyed it like I enjoy my weekly coffees with my best friend. Amazing how your revelations, over time, and mine, make such wonderful coffee-cup material. Reading ‘Carpe Diem or Bust’ was, to me, a joyride on the back of a butterfly …”  ~ Werner Schmidt (author of ‘Confessions of an Alcoholic’s Son’)

2014 — The Year to Sculpt Your Life!

Goodbye and Don’t Let the Door Hit You on the Way Out!

With a warm and cheery smile, we wave goodbye to the year 2013 — what a ride it has been!

Weaving Reality CRD

I have to admit that it was the most trying year I’ve had for a very long time.  It had some epic moments — I met new and wonderful people and I sorted out a lot of mental and physical debris that needed spring-cleaning and reshuffling.

On the other hand, it has been a year of lessons, trials, endings and constant testing.  Anyone else experience this on a grand scale?

It has been the year of exhaustion — both mental and physical.  I have never spent so many hours with my feet up staring at the ceiling!

New Hope, New Beginnings — List Your 7 Wonders

But, what have we here?  A new year.  What ho!

A chance to start a-fresh, to set some new intentions and to hone down on our desires.

What is it you want to see manifest this year?  Have you given it a thought?  If not, now is the right time to set down, on paper, some of your hopes and dreams for the next 365 days.

  • Try think of 7 things that you want — big or small.
  • Start off with something believable, like for instance, a visit from an old friend or a bunch of flowers.  Then work your way up the scale until you’re plotting out your dream home/job/partner/situation, etc.
  • Give yourself a time-frame that you want to see these things manifest.
  • Make notes on how you can take action where applicable to realize these desires.
  • For all the rest, visualize your butt off!  Or, even better, make or update your vision board.
  • Have fun doing this, don’t see it as a chore.  Look at it like you are a magnificent artist sculpting your life into an awesome masterpiece!
  • Lastly, take out this list every morning and read it out loud to yourself.  Don’t skip this step.  It’s not about hocus-pocus or fairy-dust wishes, it’s about aligning to your desires daily and exciting those neuro-peptides into action.  Sometimes we inadvertently forget what we want, so to verbalize this list every day brings you back to the core of your request and direction.

I wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year.  Let’s make 2014 the start to something brilliant!

Why You Should Strive to be a Nobody

Give Up Caring!

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt

There is nothing more freeing than to give up caring about what other people think of you or expect from you.

Some people will just thrive on categorizing and putting you in a box.

Your job is to remember that this is not for your benefit, it’s for theirs. If you are kept ‘small’ and constrained in that little box with all its sticky labels then they don’t have to feel bad about their own perceived inadequacies.

Gone with the Wind

Let your hang ups on how other people perceive you get carried away on a gentle breeze (or a tumultuous tornado — the choice is yours).

You can literally stand on your head and fart Bohemian Rhapsody and they will still see you as tiny so-and-so from school with the braids and the knobbly knees instead of the musical genius you are that would take their breath away (in more ways than one)!

Pull the labels off your box (whether you or someone else has stuck those tags on) and give up on any kind of classification whatsoever.

You’re an Amazing Little Dumpling!

You are as unique as your fingerprints!

If you label yourself you restrict the flow of life and creativity especially when you start identifying with that role.

Meet Your Cosmic Self

You are everything and nothing — infinite possibility!

What I mean by that is you can achieve anything you set your mind to (as thoughts create your experience) but without identifying with what you are creating you become ‘no-thing’ — detached and at peace.

You will only suffer when you attach yourself to what you do because eventually you will move on and then you will feel loss as your identity slips out the window.

If I could be so bold as to suggest a new mantra when you awake to each new day —

‘I am whatever I choose to be today’.

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.” ― Bernard M. Baruch

“The eyes of others our prisons; their thoughts our cages.”
― Virginia Woolf

5 Ways to Tune into a HD Quality Life

Bliss by Cherie Roe DirksenIn my last blog I discussed (or perhaps better phrased, ‘ranted’) about how we need to claim our sovereignty (you can read it HERE).  I thought it apt to outline today 5 ways to do this.

“It is the nature of the self to manifest itself, In every atom slumbers the might of the self.” — Muhammad Iqbal

Upgrading to High Definition

Can some of you stretch your minds back to the days of reel-to-reel movies?

Then there was a brand new evolution called videos (VHS and Betamax — okay, who of you remember Beta?  Lol).

Then came the computer-in-every-home age and we were introduced to CD’s and that wonder, the DVD.  Now we’re progressively fine-tuning and coming up with even greater ways to clarify the ‘picture’ with our HD screens and BluRay discs.

Hell, it’s getting so microcosm now that we are just carrying our flash drives in our pockets and file-sharing all over the place!  Soon enough we’ll just be downloading it into our brains straight from the ether.

Where am I going with this?  Bollocks, I can’t remember!

Oh yes…

We use all these spectacular ‘inventions’ to grapple with an even finer concept — ourselves.

You — The Immortal Hard Drive

So, by now (and if you have been following my blogs or read any of my books), you’ll have probably got your heads around the fact that you are divine/God/source (or whatever else you want to call that infinite one).

This ‘body’ is not you, it’s the consciousness in the drivers seat (brain) that is in control and your biological system is tantamount to a computer hard-drive where all your information is stored.

So, why not upgrade your system to work in prime condition?

Here are a few tips on how to start rewiring your brain via conscious thought command to get the most out of your life and body:

  • Declare every day that you are sovereign.  That you govern your own existence and you are a being of freewill and choice (you are now setting the stage or wiping the slate clean, so to speak).
  • State each morning what you expect to get out of this day.  You came here to experience joy (rooted in love — all that there really is) so make damn sure that’s on the menu each day.  Remember to review your day to check in to see if you’ve given yourself time to experience bliss and if not, get cracking!
  • State that if you do have something ‘unpleasant’ to do that it will go smoothly and easily and you will flow with the energy to take you to the conclusion that is the most beneficial for your path.  Keep your inner eye focused on the outcome you want to manifest.
  • Take 2-3 minutes in the morning (perhaps while you are still lying in bed) to declare that your body is working on optimum prime!  You are 100% healthy (try to feel every cell in your body tingle and send each cell love and appreciation) and you are going to honour this awesome biological system by only eating and drinking what the body asks for and not what your mind has been ‘programmed’ to crave.
  • At the end of the day remind yourself that you are the co-creator of your existence in this dimension and realign yourself to your goals and what you still want to experience.  Thy will be done!

I hope this helps you to truly start to embody your sacred self.

Start getting used to the fact that you are powerful because we are only starting to come online to our innate mastery.

Here’s Your Crown — You Are Sovereign!

Butterfly on Red Poppies

You’re Bloody Amazing!

Let’s cut through the brown stuff here and get straight to the crux.

  • We have been breaking down our programming that we are ‘less than’/sinners/victims/mortal and we are starting to let our heads venture out of our tortoise shells to catch a glimpse of our innate immortal is-ness.
  • We have been clearing out and sifting through all our crap to ‘find’ ourselves and where we belong in this crazy world.
  • We are building a bridge to the ‘other side’ to cross over into a new paradigm/dimension where we are 100% co-creators of our experience.
  • We have had it up to here (*cyber gesture of hand on forehead*) and our bullshit-o-meter has finally tipped.

So what is this crazy woman on about?

Stop and Feel that Energy!

Well done!  You’ve made it.  Actually there was nothing really to make.

Forget about all the past rubbish, karma crapola, wobbly bobbly stuff that keeps you tethered to the past in those dramatic scenarios like:  ‘what was I in a past life?';  ‘I’m ironing out my karma';  ‘I need to work through this stuff before I am enlightened';  ‘when will I see the light at the end of the tunnel’ type balderdash and own it today.

This is the first day of the rest of your existence, you immortal powerful little sausages!

Don’t buy into it anymore — you are YOU now.  Right this very moment you can void out any contracts/implants/agreements you have made that ties you to ANYTHING. You have the power and have always had the power — you’ve just been suffering with a bout of amnesia.

It’s time to re-member that you are:

  • Sovereign/Divine/Part of God/The I Am that I Am (whatever you want to call it)
  • In the Now (not tethered to any karmic contract/past life ‘wrong’/programmed belief — you just are.  Full stop.
  • Required to unplug from other people/channels/ascended masters/archangels/ET’s who are telling you what to do, how to act or anything else that comes from OUTSIDE YOUR SELF.
  • Required to be YOU.
  • Reminded to do whatever you like as long as you do not infringe on anyone/things right to freewill/choice, etc.

Let This Moment Mark the Beginning of a New You!

Fellow souls, rise up today and let’s own our divine birthright together.  Today we stand up and declare that we will not be taking it up the arse any longer.

Affirmation (feel free to adapt):  I AM SOVEREIGN.  I WILL EXERCISE MY FREEWILL FROM THIS MOMENT ONWARDS.  I GOVERN MY OWN EXISTENCE.  I AM THE LIGHT, I AM THE LOVE.

Repeat this daily until you live, think, eat, breath and truly embody this truth.

Herstory — An Intriguing Account

Today’s blog is going to be a little different…okay, a LOT different.

About a week ago, I was urged to sit down at my laptop and felt like I was literally channeling this poem (hence the rather different way linguistic phrasing) from the ether.

Yin and Yang — The Eternal Love Story

In line with my recent spate of blogs dealing with marrying Divine Masculine and Feminine, I found this poem rather apt — it also reminds me of certain divine partnerships like Osiris and Isis (Egypt), Enki and Ninmah/Ninhursag (Sumeria) and Krishna and Radha (India).

Perhaps it will shed light on certain issues, perhaps you’ll think of it as utter poppy-cock, perhaps you’ll think it just makes great fiction — you be the judge.

Why You Need to Pay Attention to Synchronicity Now!

Synchronicity is Your Ultimate Guide

“According to Vedanta, there are only two symptoms of enlightenment, just two indications that a transformation is taking place within you toward a higher consciousness. The first symptom is that you stop worrying. Things don’t bother you anymore. You become light-hearted and full of joy. The second symptom is that you encounter more and more meaningful coincidences in your life, more and more synchronicities. And this accelerates to the point where you actually experience the miraculous.”

~Deepak Chopra (Synchrodestiny: Harnessing the Infinite Power of Coincidence to Create Miracles)

What exactly is synchronicity?

Well the dictionary states that it is the occurrence of events and especially psychic  events (as similar thoughts in widely separated persons or a mental image of an unexpected event before it happens) that seem related but are not explained by conventional mechanisms of causality.

In laymen’s terms, it is simply being in the right place at the right time to receive the right information.  Now, why is this important — surely these kinds of events are just coincidences?

Defining Coincidence

Let’s break this word down to better understand it.  ‘Co’ means mutual and, of course, ‘incident’ means an event or occurrence.  Coincidence is pretty much a dead ringer for synchronicity but why do most people ‘brush’ things of as mere coincidence when, in fact, both coincidence and it’s relative – synchronicity – are profound states of universal flow?

When we are young, magic surrounds us — life is the biggest trip ever!  Sadly, as we become adults, we lose that awe for the mysterious and start putting things down to chance or luck and we start to give a rather cynical meaning to a beautiful word: co-incidence.

Should You Read More into Coincidence?

Yes!  The statistics of you being at that ‘right place at the right time’ are phenomenally low, so when they occur it is in your best interest to take very serious note of the message behind the encounter.  Then act on it.

“All of us, whether or not we are warriors, have a cubic centimeter of chance that pops out in front of our eyes from time to time. The difference between an average man and a warrior is that the warrior is aware of this, and one of his tasks is to be alert, deliberately waiting, so that when his cubic centimeter pops out he has the necessary speed, the prowess, to pick it up.”

~Carlos Castanada

 For example:

You have been thinking of an old childhood friend, even possibly been dreaming of them.  Then one day, at the supermarket, your trolley collides with another trolley.  You look up to apologize and there is the friend you’ve been thinking of.

So What Does it all Mean?

All meaning could be different according to personal circumstances but let’s take a few possible meanings:

  • This person may have some valuable information for you. It could be that they know someone who could help you with that project you’re working on.
  • It could be that your friend may need your expertise with solving a problem.
  • Or it could simply be that you need to catch up and share some precious life experiences with each other.

The meanings may differ but the little gems that pop up as ‘coincidences’ are rarely of no use.  Sometimes we have to pan for gold.  It can take days to recognize that little nugget of truth that was meant for you in the synchronous event that took place.

Flex That Synchronous Muscle!

The good news is, the more aware you are of synchronicity and how it breezes in and out of your life to steer you to your greater good, the more you’ll start unraveling the unique tapestry of your life and destiny.  This is why Deepak Chopra refers to this phenomenon as ‘Synchrodestiny’.

When you learn to use synchronicity, you’ll start to follow the breadcrumbs to fulfilling your dreams.  Be careful of shrugging events off as mere coincidence because that’s exactly what they’ll become.  Take joy in uncovering the pearls of wisdom in these packages.

The Fury at Being Robbed Blind!

Let me give you an example of a huge shift that took place recently in my life thanks to allowing synchronicity to work for me.

I recently had my bank account hacked into and a vast sum of money stolen over a period of 2 days.  It was a red-tape nightmare but I eventually got refunded by the bank.

Just last month, the same thing happened with an account I have at a different bank — thankfully, a smaller amount was stolen but the same principle had occurred.  I started to get metaphysically suspicious.  What was the universe trying to tell me?

Sometimes synchronicity isn’t as pleasant as having a catch-up cuppa with an old friend — it can come as an earthquake to rattle your cage of complacency.

Figuring Out the Puzzle

Suffice to say, I don’t believe in mere coincidence in the dull sense of the word — everything happens for a reason.

I started to pick this puzzle apart.  What I found stunned me.

I realized that I had a tremendous ‘painbody’ (a phrase coined by Eckhart Tolle to describe a collective energy within the self that feeds of the pain of a certain incident(s) and affects us subliminally) around money.

I am good at accumulating lump sums but then proceed to either spend, lose or give it away bypassing any form of financial literacy or sustainable income.

The Puzzle Goes Quantum!

A friend of mine also pointed out that money is just energy.  If I was having large sums of this ‘energy’ stolen from me it could also be a reflection of my personal life.

She was right.  I was also giving away my energy (in the form of attention,  in this case) to something that did not serve me.

I started hauling in all this valuable information to analyze.  Synchronously, my neighbor gave me a book to read, called ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’ by Robert Kiyosaki, which I devoured.  It was as if it was written just for me!

I started to implement some of my findings and got immediate feedback from the universe.

Within days of me making a conscious shift about my attitude towards money, someone accidentally put a large sum of money into my bank account.

Even though, a week later, the sum of money was reversed — my situation had changed!  Instead of people taking money out, they were putting it in!  That was my confirmation that I had truly shifted my perspective and that things were on a new track.

But You Never Kept the Money!

In both instances (whether having the money purposefully stolen or accidentally given), a message was being delivered.  I always had the money reimbursed by the bank in the case of the theft and my account returned to normal in the case of the deposit.  So there was no physical gain of money but the metaphysical message was received.

The message delivered was that there was a problem with my mental attitude towards money and the message was received and acknowledged by the shift in physical occurrence — one could say a wink from the universe.

If I didn’t realize that my money being stolen was no mere coincidence, I would have plodded on feeling like a victim of circumstance instead of seeing the opportunity that was being offered to change my financial attitude.

Coincidence is the word we use when we can’t see the levers and pulleys.
~Emma Bull

Keep your eyes peeled for meaningful coincidence and start shaping your destiny through synchronicity today!

Why You Need Hibiscus Between the Sheets!

Flower Power — 6 Ways This Amazing Flower Could Help Even Your Sex Life

“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.” ~ Luther Burbank

We’re all captivated by the beauty, aroma, intricate workings, sacred geometry, fragility, texture and vast array of colour that flowers provide.

Flowers, like music, can transport us beyond the reach of words.  Ergo, they have strong spiritual connotations.  Flowers can be seen as natures ever-evolving little prayers, the enlightenment of plants or our instant communion with the divine.

A good friend of mine was drawn recently to the hibiscus and forwarded me some very interesting information about this specific flower that I wanted to share with you all today.

The Comeback of Female Sexual Energy

“Hibiscus is symbolic of femininity, sexuality and warmth, and new creation. It reminds us of the joy, happiness, and overall the blessing of welcoming a new life into this world.
Spiritual Meanings of Flowers: An Alphabetical Guide

The Hibiscus is known to help women to reclaim their sexuality, vitality and authenticity and has aided many women who have been sexually traumatized (through the use of Hibiscus essence).

It also helps women to overcome all that stereotypical, degrading imagery that the media pumps out at us which leads us to feeling a combination of inadequacy, shame, belittlement and a sense of being objectified.

Hibiscus essence also helps to promote a steady flow of loving kindness throughout the body and soul — an important trait of the feminine aspect of sexuality.

Red Hibiscus, I greet your flame,
Hi’iaka, I call your name,
Teach me your sacred song and dance.
My soul full of passion, you enhance.”

~ Power of Flowers

(click here to buy this flower essence.  Please note: I am in no way affiliated with ‘Power of Flowers’ website, this information/product/service is solely for your discretion)

Men, You Can Get Your Groove on Too!

Gents, I haven’t forgotten you — the Hibiscus’s essence can also help you out in the sexual department as it energizes the first and second chakra — meaning that it will ground you, make you feel safe and it will balance your desire towards sex and relationship.

Conjuring Imagery of Penises and Vaginas

Oh, I do love to sensationalize my headlines (naughty, naughty!).  I just had to add before I conclude this article, that when I think of the Hibiscus I immediately conjure up both male and female genitals in my mental imagery.

The stamen looks like a penis and the flower petals are symbolic of the vagina — what a perfect balance of the sexes in this amazing flower?!

It reminds me of that highly charged animated scene from Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall‘ video, when those two flowers are mating.  If you haven’t seen it or can’t cast your mind back that far, I have found the clip on YouTube for you to watch (aren’t I a kind aunty?)

The 6 Properties of Hibiscus Essence

The Hibiscus essence, in a nutshell, serves to:

  • Energize first and second chakras
  • Assist in healing reproductive ailments/infertility
  • Helps with frigidity or lack of feeling
  • Offer solace for long-held scars of sexual trauma
  • Stimulates sexuality and passion
  • Helps to release creativity within the internal divine matrix (the womb)

How to use a Little Spiritual Alchemy

Do you sometimes feel that you are manifesting the good along with the bad? The good manifestations are fantastic but what do you do when you have created a not-so-desirable situation?

The best thing to do is to start to see your potential problems in a new light — what can they teach you?

Once you figure out why they are there and what your lesson is you can turn them around.  Does it work?  Hell yes!

Here’s what to do:

  • Accept — when life throws a curve-ball (or 3 or 4 or 12 or whatever your circumstance has chucked at you recently), you need to give yourself some time and space to absorb.  To give your acceptance to what cannot change because resisting it will fuel its growth or allow more negativity to enter your slipstream.  Acceptance can even transmute the problem as you give it no power.  You can visualize how you would rather see it and then let it go.  I did this with many problems I have recently faced to see those very situations change to positive in a very short time and I did very little (just a bit of positive affirmations and visualizations) to make it happen.
  • Act — take action with what you can do and don’t stress about what you are not able to do.  Simply knocking down one thing after the other gives a great sense of satisfaction even if you have a mountain of things to do.  You will conquer Everest one step at a time.  Then when you look back, you’ll see just how much you can get done and how powerful a being you are.  I felt completely swamped lately with so much to do but little by little I got things done.  Most of the ‘struggle’ was actually in my mind.  I still have a few things to wrap up but I know I’ll get it all done in divine time!
  • Trust in the Flow — I find myself surrendering to the present moment a lot and blissing out even amidst the most chaotic times.  I just have a knowing that I am in that Universal flow and everything is going to be alright.  So exercise that grounding present moment awareness and trust that everything is in divine order.  I have literally sat back and watched the most astounding things flow and fit into place like a giant jigsaw puzzle that I could never have orchestrated if I tried to control the outcome.

2014 is a year of instant manifesting power — so be careful about what you focus your intentions or thoughts on because you’ll create it faster than ever!

Try and perceive your problems as learning curves and transmute the bad to good — after all, you’re an alchemist you know?!

The Definition of Alchemy

In times bygone, alchemy was turning matter into gold (the short and sweet version :D).

What you are going to achieve with ‘spiritual’ alchemy is turn your ‘matter’ (situations, etc) into ‘gold’ (treasure/abundance/wealth).

To alchemize a situation is to step inside it and transmute it from the inside out.  Get into what is bugging you (through meditation or quiet visualization) and start working your magic — find that gem of understanding/learning that the situation has to offer and morph it (through picturing what you want to see in your mind’s eye) into what you do want to see manifest in your life.

Keep on aligning yourself to your ‘new’ vision especially when you feel that sinking feeling in your stomach (solar plexus) when thinking about the distress it may be causing (keep alchemizing it!).

Please let me know if this works for you (leave a comment below). :)  I love to hear your feedback.

Is Humanity Being Raped?

The Insidious Rape of Mankind and the Imminent Solution

Whoa!  Them is fighting words, Tex…

I’ve brought out many blogs about the imperative concept of yin and yang and the balancing of the masculine/feminine energies.  This one is, hopefully, going to be the last one in the series — the Big Kahuna.

I’ve had a pressing feeling to write about this but I’ve tried to duck, dive and dodge every bullet of compulsion sent from my ‘invisible entourage’ (who are encouraging me to take the leap of certain death on this highly emotive topic).

So here it goes:

Rape, Abuse, Murder…How Much More Can We Take?

With the current spate of malicious rapes, brutal disfigurements and fatal attacks on females not only here in South Africa but in India and, I’m sure, all over the globe (and in some cases males are the victims too) — there is a clear need to get to the bottom of why this is happening.

“Both sexes have suffered even though it may not appear so on the surface.”

I just want to say on the off that this blog is not going to be about man-bashing and I’m certainly not going to go on a feminist rant either.  I am both masculine and feminine (on a spiritual level) and I know that to slant any sex is to injure oneself.

These are my opinions and I hope they resonate with you.

Sexual Energy is About to Blow

Sexual energy is a miraculous thing when understood and in its natural state of balance.  But for the last couple of millennium our world has been in the throes of a patriarchal imbalance that has not only disempowered women but inadvertently stripped men of their innate power as well.

Both sexes have suffered even though it may not appear so on the surface.

Tarts, Jocks and Prudes

It is encouraged for men to be sexual predators but women must be prim and proper and keep their hysterical urges to themselves lest they appear somewhat sluttish.

Where is the balance for both parties to feel at ease in this impossible situation?

The man who sleeps around is told by society that the women who consent are loose if not whores.  How degrading is this for him as well as the female counterparts?  No balance there and certainly no self-esteem on either part.

Why?  Because the man is a mirror — on a subconscious level, he is also prostituting himself.  The unconscious mind knows everything even if the conscious suppresses it.

He feeds his desires and his ego by repeating to himself that it’s his right to do so because he was born a man, giving him certain ‘entitlements’.  However, the ramifications of his actions will catch up with him.

Low self-esteem may come biting at his heels that he might start fudging over with a self-righteous ego.

He has just built his foundations on sinking sand.  This structure is unstable.  You have to respect and acknowledge the Divine in not only yourself but others too, otherwise there will be imbalance.

Always Use the Mirror Analogy

If you see women (or men) as ‘playthings’ and objects for your amusement then that is what you are inadvertently projecting about yourself.  If you have no respect for women (or men), you are projecting no respect for yourself.

Starting to see the picture?

Of course, your ego will try to fight this every way it can.  It wants to protect your ‘identity’ — or at least that which it identifies itself with.  This is not your true nature, it is a false persona that your culture, society or religion may have thrust upon you at birth.

We are Drowning Under labels

On the opposite scale of acceptable norms, how pitiful society has made it for a man to have a ‘below average’ sex drive (‘give him medication, goddammit!‘, ‘where is the Viagra?’) or how morally degrading is our media that constantly pumps booty at us on MTV 24/7?

In the above scenario — these men are being totally emasculated by society if they don’t conform to that ‘jock’ standard.

We are drowning under labels that make us feel unworthy, uncomfortable and unacceptable and it is sheer bullshit.

Are You Just Another Jack the Ripper?

For Gods sake!  We are human beings with sexual urges and divine sexual energy to spend but we use most of it feeling guilt, taking that guilt out on others or completely cutting ourselves off.

“To be a master you need to be aware of your emotions and control your reactions.”

For example:  The guilt some psychopaths may have felt in the past for wanting to sleep with prostitutes (which might have made them feel dirty and impure about themselves — the mirror analogy at work) was taken out on the prostitutes (as in that notorious case of Jack the Ripper).

Suppressing the self leads to explosions of anger, rage and conflict.  You just have to look at the Boston Strangler to see how this looks when carried out in the physical if not balanced in time.

You are the Master

Just the awareness of a problem means you are halfway to ‘fixing’ it.  When you identify with it (ego) you are the slave to its compulsion.

To be a master you need to be aware of your emotions and control your reactions.  Understand them, forgive yourself for having those feelings (if they infringe on another human beings freewill) but to gain enough self-control as to not act upon them.

Then you can call yourself a man/woman.  That is the right of passage to manhood/womanhood.

What if I told you we are both masculine and feminine despite what your genitals tell you?  How different would things be then?

There would finally be equality —  no argument.

Where Did We Break?

You cannot be whole if you are broken.  A whole person would never need to belittle, hurt or degrade another.  Someone who does this is broken themselves.

“If you truly loved yourself, you could never hurt another.” — Buddha

The good news is, it doesn’t take a lot to fix.  It’s usually just ideas and concepts about yourself that you have to peel away until the true you is revealed.

Let the Child in You Help You to Remember

Can you remember when you were a child and your parents fought?

For those of you who grew up without both parents, I can tell you what it felt like:  awful!  You felt like your world was about to crumble about your feet.  There was a sense of desperate insecurity because the two pillars you depended on were shaking.

But beside the insecurities that may have been experienced you may have also seen yourself as a bit of your mother and a bit of your father.  When your father insulted your mother you felt insulted and when your mother went on about what a bastard ‘he’ was, again, you were that bastards child.

You may have even felt disconnected from one of the sexes due to a  parent behaving badly towards the other — giving you a subliminal prejudice against the offending sex.

You can see how, as children, we got the concept of being the embodiment of both male and female through our parents, which is perfectly natural,  because we felt we were a 50/50 blend of their energies.

If you had parents who were perfectly lovely to each other, you may have been very proud of yourself because you were a culmination of this divine energy.

You ARE female and male energies encapsulated in one form.

Butterfly with Balls

I feel really uncomfortable when I’m with a group of women and they start laying into ‘men’.  It makes me feel very isolated and upset because I feel like I am 50% masculine.

I also am privileged that most of the men I know are absolutely amazing.  They do not conform to that antiquated, stereotypical patriarchal male and abhor any kind of relation to it.  They are kind, communicative, thoughtful, protective, understanding and strong.

This is what REAL men look like.  Don’t let a few rotten eggs spoil the omelette, ladies.

Now on the other hand, I feel that some of us females need to grow a pair!

“I think men have been deprived of that female goddess energy that was replaced, oh so long ago, by the submissive female energy in survival mode.”

We need to stand in our truth (not be submissive) and be empowered.  Men absolutely love that divine feminine goddess energy.  A woman in control that knows her mind and soul is sexy — don’t think you’ll drive men away.  And if you do, be thankful — those are not the men you wanted to attract in the first place.

Skin — The Goddess

I have to share a story with you: My sister was at a music festival when the British band, Skunk Anansie, came on stage.  She said that the crowd were mainly very young adults/teenagers who had never heard of nor seen this group before.

For those of you who don’t know the lead singer, Skin, you need to read this: CLICK HERE.  She is one of the most powerful women I have ever laid eyes on.  She embodies that strong and graceful female energy yet she also exudes that awesome male vibration.

Anyway, after they had performed a couple of songs, my sister heard one of the young men in the crowd say, ‘Why haven’t we heard of this woman before?  She’s a Goddess!’.

I think men have been deprived of that female goddess energy that was replaced, oh so long ago, by the submissive female energy in survival mode.

That false separation we were taught has hurt us all.  It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that seeing yourself as superior to the opposite sex is like pooping on your own doorstep!

This is why I advocate that our men have also been disempowered and hurt through this process.  We are both Gods and Goddesses and we should treat each other that way, with love and respect and AWE.

You are AWESOME and you are DIVINE!

3 Crucial Steps to Self Acceptance

“When you forgive, you in no way change the past – but you sure do change the future.”
Bernard Meltzer

Forgive and Let Go

You may already be aware that to forgive another person does not condone their actions but frees you from bondage.

When you hold a grudge, you inadvertently hold yourself in a head-lock with the other person until you can forgive.  So, without releasing that person through the process of forgiveness, you tether yourself to him/her/them indefinitely.

If that’s not encouragement enough to start the process of forgiveness then I don’t know what is.

However, what I want to explore in this article is self-forgiveness.  A topic that can easily be misunderstood, brushed aside or not even thought of.

Surely it’s those people in our lives that have done us wrong that need our forgiveness, not ourselves?

Why You Can Be Your Worst Enemy

Funny thing is, a lot of us find it much easier to forgive others than to turn the action inwards.

It’s so much simpler to have the heart to exonerate another but we go into a flat tailspin when we start to dive into the watery abyss of all the things we’ve done to ourselves that need absolution.

You know what I mean, don’t you?

We have done so much harm to ourselves through:

  • Negative Self Talk
  • Missed Opportunities
  • Laziness
  • Fear
  • Stubbornness
  • Disrespecting Ourselves and Others (whatever harm you have done to another is a direct blow to yourself — there is no separation)
  • Lack of Willpower and the list goes on…

Have you forgiven yourself these indiscretions?

Steps You Can Take Today to Start the Healing Process

Do you know that we each have a shadow self?  A part of us that feels unworthy, guilt and shame.  Do you squash this part of yourself every time it pops up to say ‘Yo!’?

You’re not alone.

First things first — we are dichotomous by nature.  We live in a third dimension of duality and we experience the yin and yang, light and dark, feminine and masculine, good and evil aspects of everyday life…well…every day!

You can’t truly be a human being if you are not experiencing these dualistic traits on a daily basis.

And there is your gold!  We are ALL human — we ALL make mistakes.  Goodness me, if we were all to carry the blame and shame on our backs as a physical representation of how we feel about ourselves, we would all be seriously misshapen.

Isn’t it about time to embrace your duality in order to truly feel whole?

Here’s what you can do to start making peace with your faux pas’:

  • Know that you are required to make mistakes in order to grow, learn and have a contrast with which to work from (i.e. how would you know what you want if you don’t experience what you don’t want?).  Affirm:  I forgive myself for making mistakes and give myself permission to live to my best ability even if it means making more blunders.
  • Cut yourself some slack — to err is human, to forgive is divine and seeing you are both, I think you have permission to accept your mistakes and find the hidden gems within your ‘unworthy’ experiences.  Affirm:  I forgive myself and will look for the positive aspects of my seemingly negative actions and where they have brought me on my life path.
  • Put the whip aside!  We are all guilty, I’m sure, of being an asshole at some point in our lives — it doesn’t mean you have to flay yourself for your lack of good judgment over and over again.  Be kind to yourself as you would any other.  Affirm:  I forgive myself and will not, from this point in time, rehash past mistakes to punish myself further.  I am whole.  I am human.  I am Divine.  I am.

You are proving your worth when you’ve tripped just by picking yourself up, dusting yourself off and carrying on down that yellow-brick road.  Be kind to yourself when you stumble and know that there is always a lesson in the fall.

“Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.”
Mark Twain

The true warrior always mines the mistakes for the treasures and let’s him/herself be at peace with making miscalculations.  This is divine balance and the acceptance of every aspect of the self.

Did You Know You Could Be Living in Your Shadow?

In a follow-up to last weeks blog, ‘Only 50 Shades of Grey — What Happened to the Rest?, I’m going to be discussing the darker side of duality — the Shadow Self.

What is the Shadow Self?

“The master knows it is foolish to try to conceal any part of the self.”

It is that part of you that you reject, feel ashamed of, feel guilt over and suppress so that you can ‘fit in’ with what is acceptable in society.

Where Does it Start?

It can have it’s roots anywhere but, in most cases, it starts when we are young, vulnerable and impressionable.

Children want to be loved and to feel like they belong.  We do something as an innocent reaction and we are reprimanded for it (usually by an adult who has accepted the ‘terms and conditions’ of society).

This rejection makes us feel like we’ve done something ‘bad’ and we may potentially lose that love we so crave.

We start to fudge over this ‘problem’ within us with a mask — we disguise this aspect of ourselves so we can still receive that love and attention.

Trouble is, it has a way of biting you in the backside if you don’t acknowledge it.

Bronzed by Cherie Roe Dirksen A simple example may be that as a child you were curious about your body and may have been caught exploring yourself.  Your mother walked in and immediately shouted at you explaining that you shouldn’t do that because it’s ‘dirty’.  You felt ashamed.

She was reacting out of fear and you had no idea what you had done wrong, only that touching your private parts was just not acceptable.

Who was right?  Who was wrong?

“…what you judge in another is part of that shadow within your self.  The finger-pointing has three fingers pointing back at the pointee!”

We can understand why the mother felt the need to reprimand as this is not something one does in public (not usually) or maybe she felt in order to shame her daughter/son she may avoid the child having ‘loose’ morals.  There could be 100 different reasons for the reaction.

The child has actually done something perfectly innocent and now may carry a guilt around sexual promiscuity that could lead to all sorts of complications as an adult.

This is an example of the ‘shadow’.  If you don’t learn to control the shadow, the shadow will control you.

Our Reality of Duality

Last week I discussed the balancing of the Yin/Yang energies — the merging of the feminine and masculine aspects.  This week, I’ll be unveiling the light and dark energy we possess.

We live in a reality of opposites where we experience joy and sadness, love and hate, jealousy and gratitude, light and dark, male and female, etc.  We need to have contrasting encounters in order to evaluate what we do want to experience.

We also happen to have been birthed into a society that dictates what normal and what abnormal is.

Here is where things start to get complicated.

Shining a Light on Right and Wrong

“…one has to acknowledge and accept the dark half to become whole.”

Our Akash (spirit/soul) is full to brimming with experiential existence and what comes with the vast spectrum of many lives comes many actions — good and bad.

I, personally, believe that we have been both sinner and saint.

It is easy to cast judgment on others because we feel righteous — but how virtuous can we truly be?  Unless, of course, you believe that this is the only life you have lived.

The thing with judgment is that good old smoky mirror analogy (read more about that here) — what you judge in another is part of that shadow within your self.  The finger-pointing has three fingers pointing back at the pointee!

Identifying the Shadow

A person standing in the light has a shadow.  A person standing in the dark has none.  What does this mean?  Even the best of us have shadows.

Again, as in balancing the male and female attributes of the self, one has to acknowledge and accept the dark half to become whole.

The Monotone Rainbow by Cherie Roe DirksenEveryone’s dark side will be as unique as your fingerprints but we all suffer with the constant suppression of the ‘undesirable’ parts of our nature.  Those parts that just don’t conform to society’s standards.

A blazing example would be that of the church — if you’re gay, you’re a sinner.  Funny how the church harbours so many pedophiles.  Well, it’s not really that bizarre as this is an example of a collective shadow at work

When you suppress that which you are ashamed of, you are trying to conceal your very nature.  This nature will, in time, always pop up to reveal itself when you least want it to.

That’s why you hear of evangelists lecturing about righteousness and then sleeping with prostitutes or charity workers not being able to make time for their own families — you get the picture.

What Can You Do About the Shadow?  Diffusing the Dynamite!

Make no mistake, I know what you’re thinking and I’m not suggesting you act on your desires.  This is about how to deal with them effectively so they don’t blow up and destroy your life.

Here’s what you CAN do:

  • Acknowledge —  Recognize your deepest, inner-most feelings — no matter how uncomfortable they make you feel.
  • Talk — The best way to relieve yourself of something that worries you about your personality or fetish is to be verbal about it.  If you have no-one to share such intimate details with, then write it out on paper.  Just get it out of your system.  Look at it — the first step to dealing with a problem is giving it acknowledgment.
  • Accept — Give your acceptance to your desires.  This doesn’t mean you give permission to act on them.  You are giving yourself permission to feel them and to deal with them in whatever way you see fit.  This means that you can shine a light on them instead of keeping them buried in the darkest corners of your soul.
  • Peace — Be at peace with the fact that you are a soul of experience and that you embody ALL experience which makes you whole not broken.  You are okay with the idea that you have a darker more diabolical nature and you agree that this is a part of your 3D experience.

You no longer hide your secrets or feel guilty or embarrassed about how you feel — you bare your truth. You are not a flawed person, you are a human being and what comes with that package is that you are dichotomous in nature.

The master, however, knows how to control the dark side.  How to offer it love and light instead of repressing and shoving it under the bed in a chained trunk.  Only the fool thinks he can bury the truth.

The master knows it is foolish to try to conceal any part of the self.

What NOT to do:

  • Hide — Don’t try to conceal what you know to be a true part of your self.  This will cause you pain — mental, emotional and physical (as things tend to always manifest on a physical level when suppressed as dis-ease).
  • Feel Shame — Don’t feel that you are abnormal or are as guilty as sin for thinking or feeling a certain way.  Only acceptance can bring you peace.  Rather try understand why you are feeling the urges than punish yourself continuously with shame.
  • Act — There is a reason why society does not accept certain things as normal and that is because they may infringe on that one irrevocable law:  “Do what you like so long as you hurt no-one.”  Your discernment is vital.  Some of the more wicked things we ‘want’ to play out are only thoughts that we have suppressed and when delved into and clarified may lead us to void the initial desire.  That’s why talking about it may help.

You’ll find when you do accept who you are, you are more likely to accept others too with a sense of compassion, empathy and understanding instead of judgment.

Embrace your entire self and marry that yin and yang aspect.  You are a worthy soul and you are loved — now your job is to believe that!

I want to IMPLORE you to watch this documentary about the shadow self (with Deepak Chopra and Debbie Ford) — it is just over an hour but it will TRANSFORM your LIFE!  I hope that every human being gets the chance to watch this.

A Cool New Angle at Inspiring Kids to Read — See How This Guy is Revamping Reviews

Frodo and The Ring by Cherie Roe Dirksen Header

An Unusual Review of ‘The Hobbit’ Book

My nephew introduced me to Thug Notes on YouTube the other day — I was so impressed I almost leapt out of my skin with excitement!

My first impression was…‘is this for real?’

Here’s this ‘gangsta-type-dude’ sitting in an armchair, kitted out in his bling with a street-wise attitude, discussing some hard-core literature — how could this be right?

Gobsmacking Surprises Wrapped in Deceiving Appearances

Well, as the saying goes: Don’t judge a book by its cover!

This guy not only gives one of the most amusing reviews of J.R.R. Tolkien’s, ‘The Hobbit’, that I have ever heard but he delivers it to the youth in a language that they understand.

Hope for the New Generation?

In his ‘analysis’ he starts to rip into the moral implications of the story with some startling and succinct accuracy.

He discusses — in his own hilarious lingo — the destructive nature of greed, the commendable courage of Bilbo and the deadly implications of having friend turn on friend.

I think that this kind of ingenious ‘thinking out of the box’ — to penetrate the youth on a subliminal level — is just astounding.

You can watch the video clip below and I do recommend that you stay with it for the full 4:47 minutes to absorb its entire value.  It may seem a bit hard and heavy in the beginning but it’s going to blow your socks off with the ending!

Here’s the Thug Notes review for The Hobbit — enjoy!:

  • What did you think of this review and the whole Thug Notes concept?
  • Do you know of other people who are inspiring the youth to read or become more morally connected to each other?  If so, please share in the comments below.

He also has a lot more other book reviews out on YouTube but I haven’t had a chance to watch them yet but I most definitely intend to!

How many ‘likes’ can this guy get?  I think he is fantastic!

Only 50 Shades of Grey — What Happened to the Rest?

Moonage Daydream by Cherie Roe Dirksen

Despicable Me

Not only have I not (double negative, I know) read the sizzling book but I also have no intention of playing in the shadows of this steamy novel — pretty much based on the fact that all I know about it is its reputation for sexual explicitness.

What I do intend to do in this article is to whip out any double-entendre I can think of pertaining to sex, genitals or erotica.

This will be in an attempt to lure you into another grey area (of which who knows how many shades may present themselves) — the balancing of the sexes (an exploration of the ‘shadow-self’ will follow shortly in a blog post near you — so do remember to bookmark this page or ‘follow the blog’ to get updates).

Bottoms Up and Off We Blow!

It sickens me to my core when writers play on sensationalizing filth, which is why I’m in constant conflict with myself and my questionable morals.

Yin and YangEnough said, let’s soldier on in this minefield of masculine/feminine, light/dark, good/bad…yin to my yang.

We need to put on our ‘big-girls panties’ or our ‘big-boys jocks’ now as we undress (oh stop!) the issue of balancing sexual energy.  And do get your head out of the gutter — this kind of sexual energy is what the universe is made of — we’re not just talking about the old ‘heave-ho!’.

“There is a deep misconception about the roles of masculine and feminine energy in the world right now, and it has been there for quite a long time.  The belief is that masculine energy is a dominant energy, while feminine energy is a submissive energy.  This war between the masculine and the feminine has caused many women to forsake their femininity in an attempt at equality, and many men to forsake their masculine energy out of guilt or embarrassment.” — Tuning Masculine & Feminine Energy

Sex and the Universe

Sexual energy is a magical power that each of us possess (or, in some cases, may possess us).  We need to master this cosmic force in order to bring a healthy balance to our lives.

The fundamental principle is to recognize that we all, regardless of our apparent sex, are made up of both masculine and feminine energies.  We sometimes only suppress one or the other to ‘fit into’ our society, or what is deemed to be normal in behaviour of our relevant genital status.

Don’t Confuse Sex with Sexual

David Bowie by Cherie Roe DirksenSex is, of course, great for procreation and extra-mural activities but it is not all about what happens in the bedroom (or behind the bicycle shed).  Shelve those preconceived indoctrinated or hippy notions about what the word ‘sex’ means.  That is for another blog, another day (maybe even on another site).

This blog is not going to address any kind of kinky, tantric or middle-of-the-road hokey pokey debauchery.

This is not about the ‘act’ it is about the ‘energy’.

The 6 Signs of Sexuality

Sexual energy exists on all levels — it is fundamental to creation on every level.  It is dynamic, it is the flow, it is what attracts or repels us in any situation (you are reading and emitting this type of ‘sexual energy’ all the time – consciously or unconsciously).

Here is a list of 6 common traits of the masculine energy — do any of these resonate with you (regardless of your sex)?:

  • Security/safety — a ‘container’ energy
  • Strong — a sense of standing firm and being a protector
  • Resolute — a decisive energy
  • Freedom — the masculine energy wants to be the container not the contained
  • Logical — always trying to find the solution
  • Action — impulsive and daring — ‘leap before you look’

Here is a list of feminine energy traits — do you recognize any of these in yourself (again, regardless of what sex you are):

  • Remeberance by Cherie Roe DirksenSurrender — not to be mistaken with submissiveness but rather a sense of wanting to be held by that comforting peaceful masculine container energy
  • Sensitive — paying fine attention to feelings and emotions
  • Gentle — feminine energy seeks to allow for smooth flow and the path of least resistance
  • Bonding — the act of bringing together and unifying
  • Creative — the need to give birth to creation be it in form, thought or deed
  • Pensive — calculating and cautious — ‘look before you leap’

There is no right or wrong list as you can see — all the points listed above are highly commendable and desirable.  The exercise of outlining these different attributes is to marry the two — to ‘meet in the middle’ or to have a bit of both.

When you can embody these traits and draw upon them when you need to in any given situation, you become a very powerful human being.

It is of utmost benefit to be a bit of both.  The union of divine masculine and feminine gives us a chance to ‘see’ through the eyes of the other sex and to gain a deeper understanding of our dichotomous nature.

To state the bleeding obvious:  Without men there would be no women, without women there would be no men.  Let’s face it, we need each other to make it work.

The Benefits of Empathic Behaviour

Firstly, the union of the sexes would probably bring about world peace.  A balanced human being would have no need for supremacy — the need for domination is the soul being strangled by the needs of the ego.

Secondly, there will be no more ‘war of the sexes’ — I mean, that’s so last century already!  Seriously, when we figure out that we encapsulate both male and female energies, we can finally start to move on.

Something Wicked this Way Comes by Cherie Roe Dirksen

Not only will this mean that you’ll see more women belching in public whilst their partner blubs over the latest rom-com but the benefits of the union will also include:

  • Emotional Freedom — you depend on yourself for fulfillment but enjoy the company of others. You are open and honest with the ones you love and are able to express yourself without fear of judgment.
  • Empathy and Vision — the ability to see things from the others point of view and thus come to an agreeable solution instead of a pissing contest.  The need to be right is overtaken by the need to be careful.
  • Personal and Collective Power — owning who you are, what you are, how you feel and how you choose to express yourself and allowing others to do the same in a manner that doesn’t infringe on anybody’s rights.  You flow with life and allow instead of resist.
  • Wisdom in Equality — realizing that your Yin/Yang energy is reflected in every other soul and to disrespect another is to disrespect yourself.  You are free to contain that compulsive judgment.
  • Creative Action — you embrace creative thinking and act upon ideas that encourage, uplift, benefit or enlighten.
  • Ownership — you are a part of the bigger picture and not just a small and inconsequential ant (not that I think ants are inconsequential, merely that they paint a good metaphoric picture) mulling about the face of the Earth.  Your resoluteness will encourage others to seek out their own power and pass it forward.
  • No More Rats Arses — you no longer give a monkeys bum about what other people think of you because when you embody the union of traits, you are SOVEREIGN. This is not, in any way, to be associated with ego — it is a state of wholeness within your being.  You are embracing your divinity and acknowledging it in others.

If I have left anything out on this list, please do leave your comments in the allocated box below.  I would love to get your take or experience on this saucy topic.  Knowledge shared is wisdom gained.

Inequality Begins with ‘I’ and Ends with ‘Why?’

To look down upon, to belittle or to mistreat someone because of their sex (and this works with any other human allocation be it religion, culture, skin colour, sexual preference, etc) is an indication that you are not whole.

When you insult or degrade another, you insult and degrade yourself.

A man or (wo)man who is complete, is one who does not need to undermine any other.  To do so is a public display of your own inadequacy.

Banging On and On

Right, you lot!  Time to zip it up — this subject has been milked.  I hope all this sexuality talk hasn’t left you high and dry (oh God, please! No more innuendo!!!)…until the next blog where we will be poking about the shadows of our murky selves and trying to embrace what we find.

Goodness knows what we’ll dredge up, so don’t forget the latex gloves next week!

The mundane could be thought of as the form that keeps us grounded. Allowing us to keep doing our essential daily tasks, while at the same time giving us the freedom to let our thoughts and imagination soar.  Thereby creating an opportunity for other entities to merge with us which would abolish our perception of what was once the ‘mundane’.

And so starts a beautiful circle that in turn enriches daily life.

A spinning wheel of love, awe and gratitude sending love-light into the universe, back into Gaia’s arms, where it rises through us and transmutes into self love.  And the cycle continues.

Find Me Somebody to Love!

“Love is a many splendored thing, love lifts us up where we belong…all you need is love!” ~ Elephant Medley (Moulin Rouge)

hand on heartAh, who could forget those magical three lines as tuned to us by that scrummy little Scotsman, Ewan McGregor?

But what exactly is love?

We all need to love and be loved.

Our entire existence is pretty much centered on falling for it, attaining it, looking for it, trying to keep it, giving it away, getting very upset if it doesn’t come our way — so what is this powerful force about?

The Be All and End All

The dictionary defines love as the intense feeling of deep affection.  A rather dull and disappointing description for something that rules our lives but it is very apt.

Intense (‘in’ and ‘tense’ — very tense at times!) feeling of deep (perhaps even bottomless, infinity) ‘affect’ (tion) —the process of being affected.

Crapola, words really don’t even begin to get to the bottom of this profound and exquisite sensation.  As Eckhart Tolle once said, ‘words are only pointers to the truth’ (paraphrasing).

Science and Love

Science tries to explain love as a chemical reaction in the brain.  That’s all — cut and dry…next problem please!

It makes me chuckle.  Everything in this existence can be explained by science but only a tiny, infinitesimal fraction of what its true nature holds.

You can describe the fertilization of an egg as the fusing of sperm and ovum in a ‘chemical reaction’ but that hardly explains the miracle of the entire process.  Bah humbug, says I!

I can hold up my middle finger to science and say explain this!  “Yes, well, that is the muscular encoding of the brains signal to clutch ones first, second, fourth finger and thumb into a holding position to carry out a point.”

Yes, but that point is far greater than the explanation, isn’t it?  The sheer force of my will and intent in raising my middle digit is to send you all sorts of messages that couldn’t possibly be said in such a reputable blog.

The Energy Matrix

Love, although it can’t be proven in a laboratory, is the glue that binds us together.

Without it we are lost.  It’s what makes life in 3D bearable and adds to our staying power here.  It’s what keeps us tethered to beings on the other side of the veil.  It leads us back to Source (or God) in a very inexplicable way.

“I need to LOOOOOOOOOOOVE!!!” ~ Madness (Muse)

Without love, what would the point be? Love is what holds our form together, the egg to our cake — the binding ingredient of existential life and beyond.

What is it exactly?  Beats me!  All I know for sure is that we can’t do without it.  Love is formless, wordless but it sure as hell ain’t meaningless.

How to Add Spectacular Drama to Your Life!

Got your attention, right?  Surely it should be illegal, if not banned, for a self-help writer to promote drama in one’s life?

The thinking tree by Cherie Roe Dirksen

Prints available (click on picture)

Yes, under other circumstances — as in ‘karma drama’ and negative or destructive repetitive behaviour) but I’m referring to a good type of drama.  Huh?  Yes, there is a good kind of drama.

“Every man can transform the world from one of monotony and drabness to one of excitement and adventure.”
Irving Wallace

Here’s one of the dictionary definitions for the type of drama I’m referring to:

(def.) an exciting, emotional, or unexpected series of events or set of circumstances.

Ground Hog Day Revisited

Ever feel like you are on a life-loop — repeating the same thing day in and day out?

Well done if you answered ‘no’ to this — you’re doing great.  However, most of us have our moments when we feel the  monotony of our daily schedule creep up and douse us with the cold, watery pangs of tedium.

Thing is, what do we do to add some spice?  Come on…think!  What can one do to inject some adventure into life?

Well, I suppose I should offer up some advice, so here it goes:

  • Get Creative — start looking at your schedule and see if there is any way you can add a sparkle to your routine.  Even if this means dressing up like Ziggy Stardust or Cyndi Lauper whilst vacuuming (after all, girls just want to have fun and boys keep swinging).  Anything out of the ordinary can add zest to your life.  Or perhaps it may come in the form of you and your children listening to an old classic audiobook, that you have been threatening to read to them, whilst commuting to school or extra-mural activities.  You’ll be surprised how everyone starts to enjoy being stuck in traffic!

  • Do Something Unexpected — this depends on your personality type, of course.  Try doing something out of character.  Show the world you’re unpredictable (in a good way).  This doesn’t mean sticking pencils up your nose at the office but it could entail wearing your AC/DC shirt to the PTA meeting or treating yourself to a night on the town with your BFF’s.  Give yourself a shake-up, prove to yourself you’ve still got a pulse.  Boring is as boring does (thanks for that one, Forrest!)
  • Tourist Hangouts — here’s something different that’s usually a hoot!  Go hang out where there’s a lot of tourists about.  I tell you, it’s great stuff!  You get to see and experience different cultures on your own doorstep.  I like to loiter at Boulders in Cape Point (a penguin colony near where I live) because I see all types there and it’s great fun to watch all the different reactions to our little black and white flightless seabirds (especially with the foreign children who have never seen one before).  I know this may seem like a strange suggestion but it really bolsters that sense of unity with the rest of the world and sometimes gives you an unexpected appreciation for your own roots.
  • Read — I know some of you reading this are already bookworms but for those who haven’t set foot in a library since the dawn of reality TV, dust off that library card and go scouting for some good books.  Just reading about other people’s adventures can kick-start your own ideas for merry pursuit and wild exploits.
  • Commit — lastly, just commit to trying to seek out adventure.  Catch yourself when you slip into complacency.  Go for a walk when you feel bored or give yourself that extra little nudge out the door when it comes to socializing and networking.  There is a whole world out there.  I won’t lie to you, it’s full of crazed weirdo’s but there are also some incredibly fantastic people just waiting for the opportunity to thrill you within an inch of your life (when you meet them, please inbox me their contact details).

Know thyself but try to get to know others too.  People have the strangest way of providing irrevocably bedazzling information and star-studded ideas that gets our saliva flowing and all we need to do is make the effort to mingle or strike up that conversation.

I hope this list has given you some fresh new ideas to start cooking up a few new recipes that will let the flavor of life carry you to tastier grounds.

“When all is said and done, monotony may after all be the best condition for creation.”
Margaret Sackville

Right, in saying that, where did I leave my gorilla costume?  I need to go out and get some bread, eggs, milk and frighten a few prospective Chinese tourists.

Turning Trust into Money

“Someone who thinks the world is always cheating him is right. He is missing that wonderful feeling of trust in someone or something.”
— Eric Hoffer

How Trust Can Bring You Abundance

I believe in what I do and what I have to say, so when I saw this new video circulating Facebook I just had to share it with you.

It’s called An 8-Foot-Tall Woman Is Destroying The Entire Music Industry’ and it’s a TED talk by Amanda Palmer.  Take a look for yourself, in case you haven’t seen this already:

The Penny Drops!

What this brave and courageous woman had to say resonated so much with my soul, it left me shell-shocked for about an hour while I tried to process this invaluable information and apply it to my entire life.

What stood out for me were the similar experiences of self-doubt:

  • Is what I’m doing of use to others?
  • Should I get a ‘real’ job?
  • Am I just kidding myself?

I have 3 passions in life, every one of them has brought me to these questions (and brought me to my knees!).

Careers with Bad Reputations

I started out as a musician in a band but…

My Limiting Belief:  Musicians are bums and lay-abouts, they don’t ear money. No-one takes you seriously.  Get a real job.

Then I pursued my love for art and I became a full-time artist but…

My Limiting Belief:  You can’t make money being an artist, you’ll struggle all your life.  Get a real job.

Then — oh God forbid — I started to write!  And…

My Limiting Belief:  Writers are poor, they don’t earn money.  If you don’t make it onto the Best Sellers list you’ll never make it.  Get a real job.

Money, Monks and Misunderstandings

The Peacock Nymph by Cherie Roe Dirksen

Prints available – click on picture

The worst part of it was that I am a ‘spiritual’ writer and there is a hefty stigma that you should not earn money off spiritual advice.  After all, stereo-typically monks, nuns and Buddhists are humble, simple, poor people.

I also tend to shudder when I see a sight offering spiritual advice accompanied by a paid subscription.  However, I’m the one with the problem — everyone has a right to earn money.

Money is an energy swap.  I give you, you give me.  The figure of eight is complete and everyone walks away with an equal exchange.

I am one of those people who cringes when I have to ask for money.  Something in me thinks that it’s like begging and that is shameful.  I seriously need to get over it if I’m going to keep up my chosen career.  If I don’t, there’s a nice cashier job waiting for me at my local grocer.

The Two Common Stumbling Blocks

Asking for this ‘energetic exchange’ or money brings a strange dichotomy.  The problem, as I see it, lies with these two things:

  • Self-belief/love — Do you believe that your product/service/talent is worth it?  I.e. are you worth it? Are you creating/providing a service from a place of love and passion?  Or is this a means to an end?  From my experience, if you don’t love what you’re doing, you’re in big trouble when it comes to integrity.  Doubt will creep in where there is no passion.
  • Fair exchange — Here’s the humdinger.  What to charge? Yikes, I’ve encountered so many people who suffer big time with this.  They either charge too little for their expertise or they charge too much.  In the latter case, it’s just because they may be in a profession where there is potential to charge a lot but they are not experientially there yet.  They shoot themselves in the foot by charging professional prices with beginners experience.

The Solution

Ginger Goddess by Cherie Roe Dirksen CLN

Prints available – click on picture

Love what you do.  Have a burning passion for what you do.  Trust in your clientele or the people you exchange your services with.  If there is a way that you can let them determine what you are worth, then go for it.  Trust that they will reimburse you with fairness and integrity.

I’m not saying everyone will give you what you or your services are worth but it’s in my experience that more people than not, will compensate you appropriately when given the chance.

Letting as Opposed to Making

In the video, Amanda Palmer said that instead of asking how to make people pay for services you should let them pay.  That was my ‘a-ha’ moment.

With our economies in collapse and the entire global population wondering if money will even be present in our future, this novel idea of trust in commerce rings bells in my head.

We are moving into a new consciousness on this planet — heart-centered living — and this kind of energy exchange just might work!

Let’s Put Integrity to the Test

I’m willing to put my money where my mouth is (pun intended!).  I’ve just self-published my second book, ‘Carpe Diem or Bust — a Spiritual Guide to the Good Life’, and I want to share it with the world — whether I make money from it or not.

Of course, I’d like to make money as I’ve also got bills to pay but I believe in this book so much that I’d rather it got read than having it be just another Amazon book statistic. That’s not why I wrote it.

I know it will help people but I also know that a lot of people won’t read it because they can’t afford the luxury of buying books right now.  So, in light of what has just been discussed, I am offering my book to you for free.

I trust that you will enjoy it and find the information on the pages of value and should you wish to contribute — by donating to keep me and my passions alive — then you are most welcome to pay whatever you want to.

Famous Authors That Inspired Me to Write

A Tale of Two Settee’s

Alice in Ugg BootsMy  neighbour (and close friend) and I were discussing momentous children’s books on my couch the other day and the rich and bountiful impact such incredible literature has on our lives.

“After I’ve been dead five years, no one will read anything I’ve written.” — C.S. Lewis

She is reading the Narnia series to her daughter at the moment.  I also grew up with the magic of C.S. Lewis’s profound wardrobe world.  And, let’s face it, what woman (or man, for that instance) hasn’t fallen in love with James McAvoy in his role as Mr Tumlis?  Yum yum.

Lions, Hobbits, Pooh, Hallucinagenic Mushrooms, Muggles and Metaphors

“To me [the religious parallels have] always been obvious. But I never wanted to talk too openly about it because I thought it might show people who just wanted the story where we were going.” — J.K. Rowling on her Harry Potter Book Series

But on a serious note, there are tons of books, aimed at both children and adults, that are spiritually profound.  Have you noticed the incredible metaphors woven into these tales of good and evil, morality, justice, love, compassion and comradeship in the following books?

  • Frodo by Cherie Roe DirksenLord of the Rings Trilogy (or any other book, for that matter, by J.R.R. Tolkien)
  • The Chronicles of Narnia (C.S. Lewis)
  • Harry Potter Series (J.K.Rowling)
  • Alice in Wonderland/Alice Through the Looking Glass (Lewis Carroll)
  • Winnie-the-Pooh (The House at Pooh Corner by A.A. Milne has sparked off other books such as the ‘Tao of Pooh’ and the ‘Te of Piglet’ by Benjamin Hoff to ‘Positively Pooh (Timeless Wisdom from Pooh)’ — all of which liken these characters to Taoism and the Tao Te-Ching)
  • Dr Seus and his plethora of thought-provoking, humourous teachings that inspire sound and solid moral footing

Some Interesting Facts and Religious Tones

  • J.R.R. Tolkien was born in South Africa (Bloemfontein) in 1892.  He was raised a Roman Catholic but had a spiritual vision beyond the confines of Christian religion.
  • C.S. Lewis had strange dreams of lions and pictures in his head of a faun carrying parcels before he wrote The Chronicles of Narnia.
  • J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis were friends.
  • Lewis Carroll was a deeply spiritual man.  At the time of his passing, Carroll was working on an essay applying his skills in logic to proving that a benevolent God would not allow eternal damnation to exist.
  • When he was known simply as Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the Pope condemned J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, writing that their “subtle seductions, which act unnoticed … deeply distort Christianity in the soul before it can grow properly” (and, as most of us know, if the Pope condemns it, it must be good!).  Rowling said she’s proud to be on numerous banned-book lists. She said, “I go to church myself.  I don’t take any responsibility for the lunatic fringes of my own religion.”

Falling For Potter

Dumbledore QuoteI have to admit that, although many spiritual writers and  books helped me along my path, I also drew much information and wisdom from the Harry Potter Book Series.

J.K. Rowling has an incredible knowledge of all things spiritual, legendary, astrological and magical.

Her wisdom as carried out through the characters in her books, never fails to bring me to my knees.

She is much more than an English Billionairess who writes children’s novels — no, she is a bloody genius!

Cover Up Those Covers or Go Under Cover!

When the Potter books were first released, so many adults were reading them that the publishers had to bring out an ‘adult’ cover for these more mature and somewhat embarassed readers to disguise the fact that they were immersed in children’s literature.

I couldn’t have given a rat’s arse about that as I read the ‘kiddies’ version as blatantly and publicly as I could.  I loved the fact that they were being condemned and ‘black-listed’ around the globe — this usually means that they’ll spread like wild-fire and they most certainly did.

Now children and adults all over the world have been exposed to the wonders of magic, spirit, love, compassion, astrology, herbology, courage, morality, wisdom and a plethora of other esoteric teachings — whether they know it or not!

Drawing on Endearing Dumbledore

Dumbledore Quote 2There are so many terrific words of sheer enlightenment that sprout from the Headmaster character, Dumbledore in the Potter Series.  I often find myself in times of trouble and it is not Mother Mary who comes to me it is Albus Dumbledore — speaking his words of wisdom.

“As much money and life as you could want! The two things most human beings would choose above all – the trouble is, humans do have a knack of choosing precisely those things which are worst for them.” — Dumbledore (Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling)

My favourite one being (when I am receiving some ‘not so nice’ mail/comments), “If you are holding out for universal popularity, I’m afraid you will be in this cabin for a very long time.”  It always makes me laugh and then I don’t take myself or what other people think of me so seriously.

Thank you J.K. for taking that first step, even if it was writing on serviettes!  You’ve done the world a huge service.  And to all the other magnificent authors — you are legend!

Believing in a New Perspective

It doesn’t matter what book or doctrine you read that helps you to find Source (‘God’) — just as long as you get there in the end!

Finding your Truth — a belief or idea that resonates with your soul — is unique to every individual.  Be happy for others who find their divinity in their own way and know that it is appropriate even if it is not the way you have found it.

Top 3 Dangers of Anti-Depressants During ‘Spiritual Awakening’

Ballerina by Cherie Roe Dirksen

Despair Over Humanity Disconnected

Please read the supporting articles and studies within this article.

This is a tough subject and please take note that these are my opinions — you must always use your discernment when reading, listening or viewing anything.

It’s a topic easily understood by those who have been through an awakening of their soul but it is ‘eye-rolling’ material for those who have no concept of what an awakening is.

“Stressed individuals are forced to live in a defunct society that has no real relationship to soul.”

I get frustrated trying to explain to people what it is and why so many go through the ‘dark night of the soul’ or severe depression when they awaken (not to be mistaken for other types of depression — I’m purely speaking of spiritual awakening).  My frustrations arise from not being able to put this phenomenon into a succinct package — unfortunately, this experience would take days to explain properly.

There are so many aspects to the awakening process.  Even the word ‘awakening’ seems vague to many.  In my opinion, it was dubbed so because you seem to start to ‘see’ things from a different perspective, hence you ‘wake up’ and view your world in a different light.

Help!  I Need a Psychiatrist/Doctor!

There is way too much to cover when it comes to the ‘awakening’ symptoms — what to look for and what to do when you go through this process.  However, I want to just outline one key factor in this article: Anti-Depressants.

Much is not understood about coming into soul alignment and it is easily diagnosed as chronic depression in those that cannot either talk about their experiences or feel like they have no clue as to what’s going on.

“More of a problem is now created by a few irresponsible doctors than drug pushers on street corners,” CDC Director Dr. Thomas Friede

Art by Cherie Roe Dirksen iiI’m no doctor, but I do have a lot of experience in these ‘spiritual awakening’ cases.  I have been through it and scraped through a depression that lasted a good 6 months. My husband has been through it and countless friends and family members have either been through or are going through it.

I gain nothing from the information I provide (i.e. I’m not financially benefiting so I have no ulterior motives here) whereas the pharmaceutical companies reap in the rewards of keeping ‘patients’ on drugs indefinitely.

I have to say that I have met a handful of doctors who truly are compassionate individuals.  They try to help their patients with long-term sustainable advice like a healthy diet and exercise instead of plying the patient with life-threatening drugs that only add to problems or ‘polyfilla’ initial diagnosis to produce further complications elsewhere in the body.

Trust Your Instinct

Use your God-given discernment wisely when it comes to medicine and psychiatry.  You are sovereign over your body.

Practitioners can only advise but their advice also needs to be discerned or meditated upon by you, who is the only person who knows what’s best for your system.

Drugs have their uses and even I am subject to taking a pain-killer every now and then for a migraine, but the flippant use of drugs are on the increase and it’s alarming how many people think it’s OK to continuously use poison to rectify their system.

Some people take a cocktail of drugs every day without even thinking of the long-term consequences.

The Real Killer

I’m not even going to go into the ‘petty’ side-effects of anti-depressants like nausea, weight gain and headaches here.  Let’s dive into the more severe risks.

Here are just a few hidden dangers of anti-depressants:

  • Suicide — believe it or not, all anti-depressants carry an increased risk of suicide. The worst is, the risk is higher in children and teenagers who take antidepressants.  Stay far away from alcohol as it makes this ‘side-effect’ even worse.
  • Physical Dependency — like any drug, chances are you’ll get addicted to anti-depressants and the chemical changes these pills cause.  Don’t come off this medication abruptly as the withdrawals symptoms are too numerous to list.  You need to gradually wean yourself off them and definitely seek medical advice on how to do this properly.
  • Fudging — anti-depressants are NOT A CURE for depression.  They merely help, those in severe cases of depression, to cope.  You are, however, still fudging a problem that needs addressing through therapy or deep and committed inner reflection (see my list of practitioners who can help HERE).

Here is a paragraph I’ve taken from an article (Antidepressants: 10 things you need to know) about the latter point that I think needs hitting home:

For people with severe depression, medication can be a very important part of treatment. It can be the difference between being completely incapacitated, and being able to engage in therapy, being able to go for a walk etc. But antidepressants aren’t a magic cure. They don’t suddenly make everything okay.

Severe mental illness can’t be fixed overnight. It usually takes months or even years of treatment to reach some sort of stability where you can get back to your life as it was before you became ill. And non-drug treatments are just as important for people who take medication as they are for those who don’t.

Doctors, patients, friends, family etc often expect medication to make the problem go away straight away. Some people will even wonder why you can’t just “snap out of it” already. It doesn’t work like that. Recovering from a serious depressive illness is like recovering from major surgery. It takes time, and the right treatment.” (source:  Hard-to-Swallow)

Here is an article by Harvard Health Publications that covers this in details:What are the real risks of antidepressants?

So What’s the Solution for Depression with a Spiritual Awakening?

The first step to anything is awareness.  When you are aware of why you feel the way you do, you can start to remedy it.

I was reading a book this morning and it hit the nail on the head.  It did what I could not do, it gave a succinct description of what an awakening is.  Here goes:

“Stressed individuals are forced to live in a defunct society that has no real relationship to soul.”

Wow.  That neat little package of words just said it all.

When you realize this and wake up to the fact that our world is based on illusion and anything worthy of soul is suppressed, you slip into depression or what is commonly referred to as ‘the dark night of the soul’.

Why?

Art by Cherie Roe DirksenBecause it feels like you can’t cope in a world that is fake.  You feel down because you have ‘slept’ (or had the wool pulled over your eyes) for so long without realizing what was right under your nose and now that you see it, there is little you feel you can do about it.

You feel helpless, defeated, drained, angry, resentful and the list goes on according to the individual and their life experience so far.

You can’t function properly because it all feels so meaningless.  Then your partner urges you to seek medical or psychiatric advice and the medication process starts.

Partners — Please Take Note

I would like the partners of people who are going through this process to try to glean a better understanding of what may be occurring.

I do not judge you as I know how frustrating it must be to be on the other end trying to ‘keep things together’.  Many of you have families who rely on you and your partner as a ‘unit’.

However, not  allowing your partner to go through this course in their own time, may cause even further complications.  If you encourage the use of anti-depressants you are only postponing the problem and causing another potential problem (the physical decay/damage of their body).

This is not meant to scare you or be unsympathetic — it is just the truth.  The truth can be scary and the truth may hurt but the truth will out.  Try to be patient and compassionate with this process.

You can deal with anything as long as you have awareness of what it is.

Drugs cover problems and cause more internal damage than you can imagine.  You might as well let your partner take to the bottle or get high every time they feel bad.  Don’t fool yourself — pharmaceutical drugs are just as life destroying as ‘illegal’ drugs.

In fact, I read only recently, that in the last 27 years 3 million people have died from pharmaceuticals.

“Rather than popping a pill in an attempt to resolve health issues instantly, real health and wellness starts with the individual removing themselves from the medical paradigm. The key to health rejuvenation includes supplementing with whole food based vitamins and minerals, proper nutrition, exercise and a full understanding of the many pitfalls of mainstream medical science. It starts with the realization that your health is in your hands, and that you have the power to optimize your health.” ~ Extract from ‘Is there really a difference between legal and illegal drugs’.

Nature Has the Cure

Besides the awesome effects of exercise, fresh air and being out in nature — you have a plethora of nutritious food options you can draw on to help you cure and maintain a healthy body and mind.

Recent studies have shown that a common household spice like turmeric is more effective than Prozac at treating depression!

Finding a New Way to Accept Death

Smudgy

What a dramatic headline!

I’m feeling rather dramatic as my face is still encrusted with tears as I write this — it’s Friday the 2nd August 2013, a day I’ve been dreading for the past week and there’s no going back now.

I had no intention of writing about this so soon (if at all) but was suddenly struck with the urge to share this and, hopefully, shed a bit of perspective (and possibly a tear or two) with you.

D-Day and Empty Spaces

We put down our aged dog this morning, something I haven’t had to do before as I never had pets growing up.

“You think dogs will not be in heaven? I tell you, they will be there long before any of us.” ~ Robert Louis Stevenson

Although the procedure went very smoothly, nothing can prepare you for the emotional torrent that washes over you the minute you step back into your home and feel the empty space that furry little sausage has left behind.

I am already catching myself half way to the front door to let her back in and looking at the clock wondering what I’m going to give her for supper tonight.  Then the stark reality hits.

Needless to say, I feel like I’m drowning in my own tears right now but I know that, in time, this too shall pass and she will just be the sweetest memory (and I have so many) that will always bring a smile to my face.

A Vote of Sympathy or a Shift of Perspective?

SmudgeThe reason I’m writing this is not to angle for your sympathy or to make you feel lousy.  I’m writing this because I have been battling with guilt for the last week.  A guilt that led me to alter the way of looking at death.

Let’s cut this down to brass tacks.

This decision was a few months in the making. My husband and I have been debating whether to put her down or to wait — weighing up the pro’s and con’s.  Every time we seemed to reach a conclusion, guilt intervened.  The voice in my head would rear and whisper:

  • You’re playing God.
  • Maybe she still has a few months left in her…hell, maybe even a year!
  • She’s still got a wet nose and a twinkle in her eye on those good days.
  • Why don’t you just let her go naturally?
  • Look into those big brown eyes — she trusts you and you are plotting to kill her!

Yup, as melodramatic as it sounds, these cursed thoughts pop up every time I became resolute that we needed to do this and soon, as now her limbs were giving way.

Then the voice of reason would start a counter-argument:

  • She has had a good long life.
  • She is deaf, half blind and riddled with arthritis and ever-growing fatty cists.
  • Her back legs are failing her and you aren’t always around to help her back up.
  • She sleeps most of the time and her quality of life is not what it used to be.
  • She hasn’t been able to go for a walk in almost a year.
  • Things are only going to get worse from here on out — let her go!

You know, when I write this out and look at it, it seems like a no-brainer but when you’re the one calling the shots the weight of responsibility is overwhelming.

The run up to our appointment this morning was thwarted with days of feeling like we were doing the right thing and days when indecision crept up and cracked it’s whip in our ears.

The Point at Which Acceptance Came

smudge and mike

My neighbor has just had a litter of Labradors — yes, utterly adorable little creatures that catch my eye every morning as I open my bedroom curtains and look down at them galloping about in their yard.

Early on this week, I was looking at how curious, eager and happy they were, frolicking about the garden investigating every little thing.  It made me think of Smudgy and how much she loved her walks in the field (I never had her as a puppy, she was adopted by my mother when her first owners passed away and then when my mother died five years ago, she came to live with us).

Yes, Smudge had definitely been around the block!

But back to the puppies…I realized that instead of thinking of this as a linear thing (i.e. you are going to kill her), I needed to see this from a broader more ‘quantum’ perspective — I am going to help her to transition.

Then a new series of thoughts struck me:

  • Dubious SmudgeYou are coming from a place of love, she’ll feel that (i.e. this is not a betrayal of trust, it’s an act of kindness).
  • You will only be helping her to cross over and who knows, maybe sooner than later she’ll be one of those pups running amuck in a brand new body!
  • When she does transition, she’ll also be met by all of her other mothers (and father) who will be waiting on the other side of the veil for her.

When the Moment Came

The days that preceded today were fun.  I can’t lie, there were moments where I would have a wobble, but, mostly we made the last days the best we could.

Smudgy lived for food, so we bought her everything we could think of as a treat.  Every meal she had this week made her eyes bulge!  It was classic to see.  She got massages and was showered with love, hugs and kisses.

This morning came and I sat beside her and calmly told her what we were about to do and why.  I told her about the other side and all the potential that lay ahead of her.  I know she couldn’t understand what I was saying but I hope that she could feel the message and sense my love and excitement for her and her transition.

Cherie and SmudgyI called on my mother to be with us and the archangel Ariel (angel of animals), so my entourage was on hand!  Then I swallowed almost half my bottle of Rescue Remedy (for those of you who aren’t familiar — it’s an herbal tincture to calm you down) and got into the car.

When the time came, I was able to keep her focused on me whilst telling her I loved her and kissing her until she fell asleep.  She was looking up at me with her beautiful brown eyes — full of love and trust right up until the moment she fell into permanent sleep.

She was the bravest little soldier imaginable and I couldn’t have wished for an easier transition for her — thanks to my excellent vet and his assistant and my husband, Michael.

Detaching and New Beginnings

It’s always harder for the ones left behind, we know this.  But, if you’re ever up against a decision like this or if you need some peace and detachment, please try to see that death is a gateway to a new beginning.

smudge and the skyDetachment is different from blocking off or forgetting.  It’s about accepting the good, the bad and the in-between and finding peace with all three.  A middle ground of acceptance of what is.  It’s making a list of the pro’s and con’s and finding that all is in balance.  There’s a circle to life and circles are infinite.

Michael said that when she slipped away (he was standing next to me), he felt a great sense of relief, as if she was conveying to him that she was happy to be released.

I think that when death presents itself on our doorstep, we can find solace in remembering that all things must pass in order to be rebirthed.  And when transition is inevitable, find the strength and courage in your heart to send a soul on its way with all the love and joy that you can muster.

However, in saying that I’m still bleary-eyed and exhausted from this emotionally draining experience and I need to mourn and take some time to reflect, integrate and grieve.

Thanks for reading this, I know it couldn’t have been easy.  I hope my ‘lil Smudgy has let you see things from a slightly different perspective.

I’m going to end this off with the comforting words of my amazing vet. ‘You let her die with dignity’.

How to Blow Off Steam with Impeccability

Art by Cherie Roe Dirksen

Are You Speaking Badly About Someone or Merely Speaking the Truth?

I pray on the principle that wine knocks the cork out of a bottle.  There is an inward fermentation, and there must be a vent. ~Henry Ward Beecher

Here’s a difficult topic — are you a gossiping Gerty or is your mouth sealed so tight, you’ve become a clam?

This has been a hot topic in my circle of friends lately as we are all trying to remain in our integrity and avoid that dastardly, lower vibrational activity that is gossip.

Have you noticed that when you are either amongst people whose mouths are flapping off about someone else that you feel quite uncomfortable — like a squirmy little worm who needs to wiggle away to find richer soil?

Maybe it’s you who has started yapping about someone else and you later feel incredible guilt about this — you bad dog, you!

I’m sure that most of us have been guilty of the odd gossip at some stage in our lives but what is the difference between talking behind someone’s back and actually venting about a situation?

Calm Dialogue versus Dramatization

Sometimes two friends get talking and the next thing you are venting about someone who is causing some irritation or discomfort in your life.  You feel that the kettle is boiling and a little steam needs to be let out.  It’s healthier to blow off a bit of steam than it is to wait until you explode!

Now, how do you do this without gossiping?

Let’s clear this up with an example of a dialogue:

Art by Cherie Roe Dirksen 2You:  My sister is really irritating me lately.  She just keeps on getting into trouble and I have to bail her out all the time.  I’ve had enough.

Your friend:  Maybe you need to give her a little bit of space so she can work things out on her own.

You:  Yes, it will be difficult but you’re right.  Helping her out every time she’s in a mess is actually disempowering her and frustrating me.  She needs to face the consequences of her choices.

Your friend:  Exactly.  Make sure she knows you love her and the reasons that you are detaching and see how it goes from there.

Okay, now I know that this scenario is like the most ideal dialogue ever and in real life it’s going to sound a teensy-weensy bit different (especially if you are really pee’d off) but you get the gist of it, right?

This is an example of allowing yourself to vent or talk about something/someone that is on your mind in a way that is in your integrity (i.e. the truth of the situation) and is done in a tactful manner.

Let’s take a look at the flip side of the coin:

You:  My sister is such a mean person. I can’t handle her rubbish anymore.  She needs to just get out of my life for good!

Your friend:  I know!  I’ve never really liked her.  She is such a leach and you have done so much for her.

You:  Tell me about it!  And what do I get in return?  All her grief and worries!

Your friend:  I’m going to give her a piece of my mind when I see her again.

I’m going to stop there because I can carry on for hours (*grin*).  It’s like the script from ‘Days of our Lives’.  Drama, drama and a little more drama!

Here is a prime example of gossip.  Can you notice the difference?

The latter dialogue is not coming from a place of integrity, it is coming from your ego that is offended and taking things personally.  There is no form of love in this rant.

Seek Out Compassion and Understanding and Venom Dissolves

Even though the person in question might be doing things to you that are less than loving, it doesn’t require for you to fight fire with fire.  The best thing you can do is to detach with love and find the compassion for that person.

Why are they hurting?

No-one who is in alignment with their core will find the need to cause you grief ergo they must be in pain.  You don’t need to heal their pain, only they can do that.  But you can exercise compassion and love them from afar.

Help if you can and it isn’t going to cause your energy to be drained.

We must learn how to explode! Any disease is healthier than the one provoked by a hoarded rage. ~Emil Cioran

So the upshot is to recognize the need to get something off your chest and to act it out in your integrity without giving into the ego and dramatizing the situation.  Tell it like it is and give yourself that much-needed space and time to open up and vent instead of bottling things up inside.

Blow off that steam whilst remaining impeccable with your words — I think it is possible, do you? Join the conversation in the comment section bellow
