The Hot Mess of Abstract Painting to Bohemian Rhapsody!

So, it was just me in the studio with a blank canvas and Queen’s albums on repeat. No preconceived ideas, just subliminal guidance.

Being a bass guitarist, I’ve always been drawn to the rock/indie genre.

I wanted to explore why and what attracts me to certain music. This series of 10 paintings called “Rocking Art,” was that exploration into the feelings behind the songs.

This specific artwork was inspired by the music of Queen. So, it was just me in the studio with a blank canvas and Queen’s albums on repeat. No preconceived ideas, just subliminal guidance. As words or key phrases popped up in the process I would write it down on the side of the canvas.

The feelings that came through were that of explosive, creative and sexual/universal (uni+verse=one composition) energies, interconnectedness within the matrix (Latin for “womb”), the flowering of consciousness, symmetry and the balancing and healing of the yin and yang principle. So, a real feeling of being cosmically connected.

Emotionally, it was a whirlwind! I was feeling delight, optimism and joy to passion, eagerness and amazement.
