Why Patience Truly is a Virtue

Why Patience is a Virtue

“Do you have the patience to wait until your mud settles and the water is clear?”
Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

  • Have you ever been so swept up in the heat of the moment that your emotional outburst made things worse?
  • Have you ever wished you had just waited a bit or ‘slept on it’ before you reacted?

We’ve all had these moments, I’m sure.

It’s that hostile e-mail from a client,  that disruptive request from a friend or relative that caught you off-guard or the ‘pop-up’ abrasive guest at a dinner party that set your fireworks off.

Stirring Up the Mud

When you’ve got your knickers in a knot over something, the best thing you can do (because, obviously, your buttons are being pushed for a reason) is to take a time out to reflect on it.

  • Why are you being emotionally triggered?
  • Is it something you can alchemize (read more about that here: 3 Ways to Alchemize Chaos) — which simply means transmute (can you dowse the flame)?
  • Is burning that flame necessary or is it something you can let go of?
  • Is this a battle worthy of your energy or can you let this one go (i.e. choose the battles your fight)?
  • Do you have to be right or can you simply be the still presence without reacting?
  • Can you say what you need to say, be impeccable with your word and then let it go — whatever the outcome?
  • If you can sense a situation heating up, can you send out calming energy? Give it a try — it can really work.

If you’re in a situation where you can’t simply say, ‘let me get back to you‘ — or where you can leave replying to a text message or e-mail until the morning, when you have had time to calm down and reflect — simply say or do nothing. Try and sneak a ‘time-out’ by excusing yourself to go powder the old noggin, so you can take a few deep breaths and regroup.

The moment your levers are being pulled and temperature is rising, this is your indicator that you are out of balance. Sometimes they are even old, outworn emotional reactions that no longer serve any purpose. Always question why you are reacting and ask HQ (your higher self) for some guidance and clarity if you are at a loss. Letting the Water Clear

Never react to something when you are in a heightened emotional state. Even if you think your wording is sound and diplomatic, your energy will come through and it will be perceived in the emotional state you’re in.

I’ve had countless experiences where I have written a perfectly straight-forward e-mail but have been in a raging temper and the recipient has picked up on the hostility even though the words were PC. I now know never to write in any kind of altered emotional state — I only respond when I am in a place of balance and calm.

SUBSCRIBE icon 1The situations I have dealt with in a calm state of balance have turned out well. It also helps exponentially when you can visualize the outcome you desire. Practice holding that vision every time you slip into worry about something (always clearly see the desired outcome).

Patience, in these matters, can truly temper a volatile situation.

When ‘the water clears’ you will be able to see the situation from more than your emotional reactive state. You can glean different perspectives which will give you a more transparent picture of how to handle the situation. Always speak from your place of truth and integrity.

It is perfectly fine for you to take your time over giving an answer or reacting to a situation. Don’t let others pressurize your cooker into exploding.

The Key to Success That May Surprise You (It Surprised Me!)

Success and Epiphanies

A few weeks ago I wrote an article about an a-ha moment I had with a background program I was running. The program was, ‘life isn’t fair’.

In the article I explained my discovery that life is neutral until you give it meaning (for instance: Life just is. Then you give it meaning: Life is/isn’t fair — your choice!). You can read that article here: How to Nuke Limiting Beliefs

The moment I zero-pointed that energy and reset it (as in: sat in meditation and worked my emotions back to 0 — ‘life just is’ — then juiced up my reality to read, ‘Life is fair’), things started to change rapidly.

New Program Deletion

In the days that followed, I began to realize I had other programs running. I felt it but didn’t know what they were. I knew it had to do with…ta-daaa….money — that old humdinger of a limiting belief that keeps on rearing its shiny head.

I asked the quantum field (what I like to call ‘the force’, ‘the matrix’, ‘God’ or whatever else floats your boat) to show me the block. It did — through a Bashar channel.

He/them/they (Bashar) said (and I paraphrase): you must never sell your ‘product’, you must sell yourself — your passion. Whatever excited you do it in the first place.

Deafening Alarm Bells Going Off

I was so guilty of this! I try to sell my ‘product’ (which can mean anything from services to actual things) — I just assumed that was how it’s done.

So, for instance, if you’ve painted a beautiful picture and it represents something you’re passionate about (say you’re in love with nature and you expressed your admiration through paint), the painting will sell itself. All you have to do is sell your passion.

  • Key to SuccessPromote why you painted it, inject it with fluff. Fluff is about YOU. Sell who YOU are. You’re the unique thing on this planet, and that will reflect in your work or ‘product’.
  • Be yourself — it’s that simple.
  • Give immense amounts of gratitude to that quantum field for your success. An affirmation could be, ‘I’m so grateful for attracting people who resonate with my zest and passion for life, and who support me in every way I can conceive.’

Don’t try to funnel what you want — leave it to the field to arrange how you get your success. Trying to control the outcome will only result in you getting emotionally and/or physically constipated.

Conclusions…and Stop Trying!

So, many of us concentrate too hard on trying to sell our wares. We so vehemently try to do this that we miss the point. We need to sell our passion — why we do what we do; why we are what we are. Encapsulate and BE the passion that drove you down this avenue and stop trying — trying only implies more trying. Savvy? Great. Go out there and peddle your passion!

Stepping Up to the Plate

You’re probably familiar with the saying ‘what you think you create’ but how can you seriously filter every bad thought? There is a way, I promise. But before we delve into the amazing powers each of us possess, we have to get one thing straight…

There’s only one person responsible for what you think and do and that’s YOU.

If the thought of being the creator of your reality scares the willies out of you, then read on…

The Freedom to Be Happy

Can you remember learning how to swim or ride a bike?  Can you see how determined you were to succeed because you knew the pay-off was going to be huge?

You may have started off with water-wings, splashing about aimlessly— gulping in water — or peddling your heart out whilst trying to maintain your balance even with the training wheels on!  But that child never gave up.

Then what came next once the wheels were removed?  Probably scrapes and bruises the first week but did that deter you?  Did you give up then?  Probably not.  You wanted to ride!  You were hell-bent on feeling the wind on your face and the freedom that would bring with it.

Same goes for swimming — gliding about in the water refreshes and frees your body of weight.  You knew that swimming was going to be the biggest trip ever!

Where am I going with this?  Your thoughts need training wheels/water-wings if you want to experience the same freedom from negative thought.  And here’s how you’re going to do it…

Getting Real Right NOW

Here are a few things you can start to do today to become more aware and proactive with your thoughts:

  • Morning Motivation — When you wake up, give yourself 5-10 minutes to think about what how you want to see this day play out.  See if you can catch any worrisome or negative thoughts before they take hold of the exercise.  Put up a STOP sign in your mind and gently kick those blighters to the curb.  Then bring your focus back to visualizing your positive day ahead.  Try to smile and see/feel yourself enjoying this bright new day.  Emotions back your thoughts into manifestation. Read related article: How Good Are You Out of Bed?
  • Mind Mangle Cleanse — During the day (if you are but a mere mortal) you will probably find yourself slipping into worry, blame, anger, despair and an array of other harmful mind banter.  You may even find that your head is throbbing because of all the distorted ‘mind mangling’ that’s going on up there.  Here’s  your chance to hold up that STOP sign again and see if you can look at things from a different perspective.  Most of what we worry about never comes to pass and most judgments/situations when seen from a different angle can evoke empathy instead of anger.  See if you can alchemize your thinking — in other words, find the treasure in the trash. Read related article: 3 Ways to Alchemize Chaos
  • Marrying the Mind — When you start to get a hold on your thought stream and just how much power you DO have over it, you can start to have a better relationship with your thinking.  You are now in control and you can focus your inner dialogue on what serves you instead of calling in all the unwanted experiences.  Start your affirmations off with a strong ‘I am…’.  For example ‘I am going to have a great day today’, ‘I am going to have a safe trip’, etc.  Try avoid the phrases ‘I desire’ or ‘I want’ because it only brings more desiring and wanting for the future.  When you use ‘I am’ it is in the present tense and is happening right now not in some future timeline.
  • Re-Member — We often get lost in ‘doing’ and not ‘being’.  Try to remember all the things that make you happy and bring you joy. When you smile the world smiles with you.  So, remember to feel gratitude for life, nature and the people that make your world spin.  Look at every magnificent dawn or sunset as a blessing, every fragrant flower or birdsong as a gift, every smile or hug as a gesture of love and draw on those experiences when you’re in a negative frame of mind.  See if you can remove yourself from a negative situation and sit under a tree or listen to some soothing music.  Seek out those small but beautiful moments in your life and embrace them.  Hold them close to your chest and bring them out when you need to.  It’s bound to make you smile. You can always alter your reality at any time.  Don’t forget that.  If you choose to stay in the gloom, then just know that ‘this too shall pass’.
  • Over and Out — At the end of the day, review what happened and see if you can pick out any situations that you have turned around in reality.  Did you manage to have a good day?  Did things turn out like you affirmed in the morning?  Or close to?  Or can you do better tomorrow?  Keep trying and if you do see results it’s going to make you more determined — just like that little tike on the bicycle, gearing up for the next day’s practice.  Because you know that practice makes perfect!

“You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind.” — Joyce Meyer

You will get a grip on your oh-so-powerful thought stream and you’ll be able to eventually steer those thoughts to benefit your life in ways that will make your head spin — in a good way!

Now it’s up to you to give yourself a reason to smile every day.
