Why We Need to Preserve Earth And Our Humanity

“We are humanity and we are totally and utterly dependent on the Earth.”

Don’t you feel like a lot of people are losing their connection to the Earth (and to reality)?

Of course, it’s understandable in our current climate; we have lost loved ones, we are faced with division every day, financial stress, emotional strain, the toughest decisions, inhumane lockdowns, relentless talking heads punting fear, the breaking of the Nuremburg Code — I don’t need to remind you, I’m sure.

With all that is going on, we need to, now more than ever, ground ourselves and be more present in nature. Spend more time staring at a tree than your device. Spend more time listening to bird song than listening to iTunes. Spend more time contemplating a glorious sunset than your next post.

Meta-Fascistbook: Name Changes and Game Changers

And now, trumpets sound and angels sing, Mark Suckerberg wants us to join him in the ‘Metaverse’. The Metaverse reminds me of Nero fiddling while Rome burned.

No thanks. Talk about Mark of the Beast!

“They Tried to Bury Us, They Didn’t Know We Were Seeds” ~ Dinos Christianopoulos

We are humanity and we are totally and utterly dependent on the Earth. We don’t need more distractions and fake realities, we need to get down and dirty, with our hands and feet in the soil of our very real planet who needs our help and our attention — ALL of our attention — because we ARE the Earth. We are made of the Earth.

We need the trees for oxygen, we need the soil to grow food, we need the flora and fauna to sustain us (whether chosen for fuel or for clothing), we need to work in symbiance with nature to truly be happy.

Let’s Weigh In

On one hand we’ve got “Mark of the Beast” and his Meta-whatsit, luring us into an AI world of bullshit and triviality while our planet needs our love and attention. And on the other hand, we have the Earth, to whom withouteth we cannot liveth. No-brainer, eh?

I’m sure Mark’s Metaverse, as lame as it looks now, will — in a few years — be like the holodeck in Star Trek. I’m sure it’ll be very tempting indeed to escape reality and get sucked into Suckerberg’s world of machinastic cyber frivolity.

But, please, let’s not forget that we are flesh and blood and our humanity is on the line. The more we get duped into staying glued to our devices and the more we are welded to our social media feeds, the more we take a step away from what is real, what makes us truly happy and what sustains us. And I think most of us can agree that this is found in the wilderness, it’s at the seaside, it’s in a jungle, it’s waiting for us in the garden or park, it’s beckoning to us in a forest, it’s outside just waiting for you to say, ‘hello’.

I’ll Be Happy When I’m Rich, Famous and Thin

Money, although useful, doesn’t make us happy. Having ‘stuff’ can be cool for a while, but soon loses it’s thrill. Fame certainly ain’t all it’s cracked up to be (just ask any celeb who, and there are many if you look, have had their hand caught in the cookie jar or whose hypocrisy has back-fired). And, of course, trying to fit the societal ideal of ‘perfect’ certainly keeps you at arms bay of ever being happy — in fact, it can make you darn right miserable.

People search for happiness when, really, it’s right underneath their noses.

Happiness Is…

Happiness is sustainable if you know where to look. Happiness is sustainable if you remember to connect with nature. Just the act of staring at ‘green’ has a soothing, calming effect.

The Great Resignation

If we can take just one positive thing from this pandemic, it’s that a lot of people woke up.

They woke up to how much time they’re missing out on with their family and loved ones. They woke up to how much is taken for-granted. They woke up to how much wool is being pulled over their eyes. They woke up to how much time is wasted sitting in traffic on their way to work. They woke up to how much time is wasted at work, especially working at a job you do not care for. The Great Resignation is upon us!

If you don’t know about this latest phenomenon is, please read the article below:

What is ‘The Great Resignation’? An expert explains.

I bet the powers that were didn’t see that one coming! Which reminds me of a line from a Greek poem:

“They Tried to Bury Us, They Didn’t Know We Were Seeds” ~ Dinos Christianopoulos

We can even go a step further and say, not only did they bury us but they shat on us and then wept with laughter…and we all know what happens with seeds, manure and water!

New Ways of Expressing My Love for the Land

I’ve been dreaming of creating something new with my art. Something that explores a diverse range of styles and mediums. My desire was realized when I came up with my new series called, “KAROO ELEMENTS.”

This one is the first painting I did called, “If These Rocks Could Talk.” Click on the picture to take you to my store where you can get prints and products with this design.

KAROO ELEMENTS takes physical pieces of slate (shale), pods, quartz, tin, bark and other fascinating things I pick up on my hikes in Barrydale, Klein Karoo in South Africa, and merges it into an authentically telluric landscape.

I want you to smell the hot, baking air, experience the nutty aroma of the Acacia trees, touch the slate and quartz crystal that’s been around for thousands of years. Come take a walk with me every time you glance at this piece.

My hope is that this new series of art, that takes physical aspects of the landscape, keeps the channel of love, appreciation and fascination of nature wide open. May we never give up our awe for nature and our love for our beautiful planet.

May we never resign our humanity.

“Unity in Diversity”

Here is a picture of some of the artworks in my new series, they are currently on display at the Karoo Art Hotel in Barrydale. Don’t forget to follow my blog to receive new updates.

What You Can Do to Help in Chaos

Misery and Mercy by Cherie Roe Dirksen

Dining on a Rancid Take-Out Menu

As society and the media pumps out more pandemonium, bedlam, jiggery-pokery and mayhem for our global dining-room table consumption, one wonders just how much more one can take?

The ways we cope and react are numerous. One can spontaneously break out into interpretive dance (as mentioned in my  ‘heart talk’ article, which you may find interesting — READ HERE), churn out a few Shakespearian sonnets, join one’s local Hare Krishna movement or go and make like an ostrich (only to name a few saucy coping-mechanisms!).

Dust Off Your Head — You’re Needed!

It’s no small wonder that my close group of friends (and officially me too after last night) are all having the same dreams — unfortunately, that of the ‘end of days’ scenario with those four epic horsemen!

I mean WTF(udge)? The battle for middle earth has begun (Tolkien was way ahead of his time)!

Can you feel it? Yeah, I know a lot of you will say that people have been predicting the apocalypse since the dawn of mankind and naught has happened yet but, seriously, there is something up of late. And I know it’s not just me who’s feeling it.

Has the battle betwixt good and evil reached a climactic pinnacle? If so, whose side will fall?

Okay, this is where you come in…

What Can I Do?

In the throes of mass panic, fear, galvanization and all the rest of it, you can be that still presence.

There are 2 things you can adopt when you feel you’re in the middle of something chaotic:

  1. Be Aware — drop into your heart space (read more about ‘Heart Wisdom’ HERE). Instead of spontaneously bursting out into reaction, take a knee (even if it has to be a quick one!). Centre yourself and see things for what they are. If you can react from your heart instead of sweeping fear or anger, you are opening a space for resolve or balance even if you can’t see it yet.
  2. Be Calm — energy compounds energy. If you react with more chaotic, aggressive, panic-stricken energy you are not helping, you are adding fuel to the fire. If you can act with calm, balanced, centered energy you may just be able to dissolve some of the chaos and be the watering can to those licking flames.

SUBSCRIBE icon 1Now, if you’re able to use the above-mentioned traits, you will be in a space where you can be of more help than if you were to become erruptively reactive. When you are reactive without these 2 attributes you will more likely cause more chaos than help to bring about any kind of reconciliation or balance.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing erroneous about taking action in a situation — just be equipped with a calm awareness firmly tucked under your coping-strategy belt.

Your ability to remain calm and aware will be key to bringing about a new consciousness movement.

5 Tools to Stop You Worrying

Why Do We Worry So?

When it comes to concerns about life’s uneasy or potentially disastrous situations, we start to worry.  I don’t think there is a single person in this world that hasn’t experienced a copious bout of the collywobbles in their lifetime — but why do we do this?

There could be a number of reasons, some being:

  • You feel you need to ‘prepare’ yourself for the worst
  • You are a ‘glass is half empty’ kind of person and just expect the worst to happen
  • It is in your experience that disaster always strikes, so worry is a necessary coping mechanism
  • There are so many things that could go wrong and you feel you need to focus on each one to embody it or try to find a possible solution for it in the event of it happening.

Now, if we actually look at this list from a transpersonal point of view — we take ourselves out of the equation and are impartial — these worries are not only a waste of precious manifesting time but they are a reinforcement of nonconstructive potential timelines.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK

Just remember you bring about what you think about the most.  This is not meant to scare you, it’s a preparation tool so that you can steer your thoughts to more positive neurological pathways.  When you reinforce encouraging situations in your mind, as opposed to harmful scenarios (aka worrying), you are creating potential for a more fruitful future.

Easier said than done?

Sure, but it is possible.

Answer this: Has worrying ever solved your problems anyway?

I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say ‘no’ it probably hasn’t, right?  So, what can you do now to alleviate any future concerns you have?

Eckhart Tolle has pointed out three memorable and straightforward options that you can apply here, either: remove yourself from the situation (in this case, remove the worry), change it (transmute the worrisome thought form), or accept it totally (surrender to any future possibility).  But let’s go into it a bit more:

Here are 5 simple techniques you can carry out when you find yourself in a state of worry:

1. Do Something

Swap worrying for doing. Can you actually do something about it now?  If the answer is yes, take those first steps and you will begin to lighten the load off your mind.  Even if it means writing the problem down.  Just getting it out of your head and onto paper can be a relief.  You can even then burn the paper or trash it symbolizing your new stance on worry.  Tell your troublesome thought who’s the boss! The best thing you can actually do is visualize what you DO want to happen — I can’t stress this enough.

2. Find a Solution

solutions quoteMap out a possible solution. Again, it’s always helpful to write it down so that your mind is free of it.  When you can look at some achievable solutions, you may gain a better perspective of how you can change or alter the course of your quandary. Remember to focus on the desired outcome.

3. Acceptance

If there is absolutely nothing you can do, then try acceptance of what is.  If you cannot change what is, you need to let it go and find peace within your situation. How has this situation affected your life? Is there any diamond you can mine from it? Hint: there usually always is a positive learning when you can train yourself to see something from an alternative perspective.

4. Meditate

Solutions will present themselves when we quiet the mind.  There is a wealth of information just waiting for you to tap into when you are in a meditative state.   Clearing your mind of what I like to call ‘mind-static’ (continuous loops of mind chatter — read related article: How to Stop the ‘Monkey Mind’ Phenomenon) will help you to excavate that pearl of truth and gain a lucid perspective. When you step out of the way — solutions can come in. Your higher self never gives you any challenge that you cannot conquer.

5. Positive Reinforcement

Remind yourself that what you think you attract. Do you want to attract more of what you are worrying about? If not, then switch to thinking about what you do want to manifest in your life and let all negative outcomes go — you don’t need them. Capeesh!

“Make sure your thinking is pointing you in the right direction to manifesting your ideal destination”

The mind can be trained to think differently — you are 100% in control of your destiny.

SUBSCRIBE icon 1You have a choice to rewire your thought process to align with what you want to manifest — don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.  Don’t fall into the trap of being a ‘victim of circumstance’ — this state doesn’t really exist as you create everything and only you can give it the necessary potency.

Playing any kind of victim role is a disempowering stance that you should avoid at all costs.

You are the powerful creator of your reality and you are in the driver’s seat — where are you going?  Where do you want to go?  Wherever you see yourself in the future just remember, worrying never got anyone anywhere — so…

Hakuna Matata* all the way!

3 Ways to Kick Your Fears to the Curb

Creeping in Through the Cracks

Fear is an almighty strong emotion. It could be said to be the driving force behind our collective impotence.

Why does it have so much force in our lives?

It get’s flung at us constantly via the media — TV, movies, adverts, the general public, etc.

And when we’re not ‘out in the world’ overhearing all the crime statistics and getting fed bad news from people on the street, we rush home to fall into the escapism of our daily Facebook feed because there’s nothing there to be fearful of, right?

Wrong! We get a slipstream of everything that’s messed up in the world (barring, of course, those sweet little kitty meme’s and quirky quote feeds — although even those are starting to take their toll on social media addicts).

One has even come to fear the next ‘Be Like Bob’ post or cradle in terror at the thought of another cat in a pot photo. All jokes aside…

Getting Down and Dirty

We need to take responsibility for what we give our attention to and for how we allow, yes allow, the media to manipulate our emotions and pervade the airwaves with such repugnant negativity.

We are the ones giving credence to and creating our own fears — we can literally asphyxiate ourselves with things to fret or find fear about.

Every time you give into fear you feed negativity and give it more power. Fear is a choice, like it or not.

Related article: How To Deal With Your Fear of the Unknown

The Different Types of Fear

fear quoteThere are, of course, many different types of fear but they are all grounded in the act of giving your power away.

When we come up against fear, we are presented with a chance to be aware, brave and face up to it.  Get to the nitty-gritty and uncover the truth about why we are so afraid or uncomfortable (i.e. the fear of heights/snakes/natural disasters/terrorism/clowns/Uncle Sam/Aunt Betty/’fill in the blank’).

When we mine ourselves for the ‘why’s’ and ‘what-have-you’s’ of our own fears, we can face them and move through them.

If there is nothing we can do but send our love, compassion, empathy or prayers to a fearful situation, then do that! Stop giving rise to a tidal wave of negative emotions.

Either do something about your fear (fight or flight), make an effort to get to the bottom of why you feel a certain way (be it through meditation, inner-examination, therapy, etc) or stop thinking about it — turn your thoughts around!

What you think about you bring about. Your attention, good or bad, always feeds the probability giving it more gusto. So, stop gusting away at those fearful ruminations!

Incapacitating Fear

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” — Franklin D. Roosevelt

In order to work fear back into the light, we need to find its polar opposite — LOVE.  When you inject love into fear it evaporates — it has no stronghold in the presence of love.

But how does one start projecting love when ones knees are knocking?

Well, let’s address what is called heart-centered living — I’m sure you’ve all probably heard that word by now.  People are throwing it about a lot these days (including me — guilty as charged!). As airy-fairy and lace-clad as heart-centered living may seem — there is a nugget of gold in the finding!

Related article: How to Use Your Heart Wisdom

Quickening the Heart

When you work through your heart, based primarily upon how you are feeling about something (as opposed to working through your mind and how you think about something), you are guided by a more truthful resonance of picking up subtle nuances from your surroundings rather than being directed by what reason dictates.

SUBSCRIBE icon 1So even though we are in need of our minds and pensiveness, we have been dominated by left-brain thinking for centuries.  A shift is occurring, not to totally disregard our thoughts but to channel through the heart and then process through the mind.  In other words, not just to go straight to the head and bypass our hearts or how we are feeling intuitively.

Rationality can be useful but it has, in some cases, left our instinctive abilities to wither in its stoic presence.  Sometimes our ‘logic’ has actually hindered our bliss. This could be because ‘society dictates otherwise’ or ‘the norm is to be…’  — well, be careful of whose ‘norm’ you are conceding to.

It’s that age old conflict between science and spirituality (left-brain versus right-brain) — the solution to which is using both in balance.

Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live.” — Dorothy Thompson

3 Key factors to transmute your fears are remembering to:

1. Spend Your Emotions Wisely

Don’t buy into fear.  Think of all the things you have feared in the past — did any of those worries come true?  If yes, did you survive it?  I take it you did if you are reading this.  The energy or vibration of fear draws that which you worry about into your life.  Have you ever been with someone who is not afraid of dogs but you are.  When a dog comes running at you both, it goes for you, my sweaty-palmed friend, not your companion! Why?  Animals, as you probably know, can sense fear — so can the universe and the universe is impartial.  It acquiesces to what it thinks you desire via your frequency output.  If your emotions are dialed into fear, expect life to become frightening.  The only thing you should fear is fear itself (thanks, President Roosevelt!).

2. Know That Love Conquers All

Get used to being tuned into your feelings and steering them to safer shores.  When you are in fear, inject some love into your aura by thinking of someone you love, your favorite pet, the infectious chuckle of your child or grandchild or a blissful memory. Change your vibration! This is how you get to expand on the feeling of love in the face of fear.  Show fear that you have too much love in your heart.  Fear is a mental construct in the absence of love.  Trust your instincts and obey your heart. Send love and compassion to all those who suffer or who are in situations you fear to be in. Even send love to the perpetrators of heinous crimes. Why? Because you won’t solve hate by chucking more venom at a situation. When you can send love to the victims and perpetrators alike, you are diffusing the energy and making a space for healing and learning to occur. The perpetrators of violent crimes will not ‘get better’ with negativity, hateful thoughts or jail sentences (that is not to say that they shouldn’t have to ‘pay’ for their crimes — we all have to face the music for our actions) but, in sending love and compassion, there may be a glimmer of hope that they will have a true awakening to spirit and show remorse or have a change of heart.

3. Take Control

Short, sweet and to the point.  If you want to be self-empowered then the first things you need are awareness and the ability to take responsibility for your actions.  These two fundamental principles are gateways for you to realize your inherent potential.  You are a co-creator, take responsibility for that and take control from this point onwards.

The Only Way is Up

I was watching a very interesting YouTube video with Dr. Joe Dispenza and Lynne McTaggart (you can watch it HERE). Something struck a chord with me when Dr. Dispenza said that working with the heart center moves us away from the particle state and into the wave state (as in the wave-particle duality of quantum mechanics — an object can behave as either particle or wave or both in some cases).

This makes sense in a very woo-woo way to me.

Let me explain:

The fundamental principle of this life seems to work on fear (particle state) or love (wave state).

The Fixed State of Fear

Don’t you find that when you are in fear — which is primal, fight or flight kind of stuff — it hard-wires you to feel ‘heavy’ and fixed in this reality.  We use terminology like ‘the weight of the world’ and things/situations ‘weighing us down’.

Love the Shit Out of People QuoteIt’s a feeling of helplessness and burden, load or pressure. It’s what fixes us to a state of physical matter or materialism and keeps us in that ‘particle’ form.

There’s no doubt we need both to ‘survive’ in this matrix system. However, having an awareness of the decisive action you need to take for self-preservation (fight or flight) doesn’t require we stay in a permanent state of fear.

Unfortunately, this current world system seems to be pumping the fear-factor at us — it feels that that’s all they want you to be focused on. This doesn’t have to be your truth.

If you can cultivate a healthy awareness and can become the ‘observer’ of your reality, you can face your fear and transmute it into valuable data that can keep you safe and sane in an insane society.

The Freedom of Love

When we are in the state of unconditional love, we feel elated. It made so much sense to me when Dr. Joe Dispenza said that love puts us in a wave state. We become a frequency and ‘rise above’ so to speak. This is the vibration that keeps us connected to each other and ‘tuned in’.

SUBSCRIBE icon 1

If we are in a hologram/matrix/dream/illusionary world, then it makes perfect sense that our ‘controllers’ want us stuck in matter-based fear. But if we can transcend this illusion and realize that we are the programmers of our reality, we can shift into the frequency of love and ‘ascend’.

As Lynne McTaggart suggests with her altruistic mass consciousness experiments — when we give freely and from our hearts, we are not only benefiting the target of our well-wishes but we improve the very fabric of our own lives in the process.

How can you change the world?

Filter everything through your heart. Ask yourself every second of every day; ‘how can I spread more love?’, ‘how can I transmute this difficult situation into love?’, ‘how can I love and accept myself more?’ and ‘how can I see my brothers and sisters of the world as extensions of my self?’

Ride that wave of love until we beat the system.

How to Cope With the Knowledge of Pure Evil

Coping with Evil Header

I write this article with a heavy heart. I felt the urge to acknowledge this in the only way I know how — to write about it.

“The idea of evil is always subject to denial as a coping mechanism” ~John Bradshaw

I was a person who preferred not to see the evil in the world. After all, I consider myself an enlightened new-ager who needs to superglue those rose-coloured glasses to her face. I still inherently do believe in positive energy/vibes and my path is that of sticking to the light and my integrity.

The truth (my truth) about this is I simply can’t not acknowledge the dark side exists. There has to be a dark side for there to be contrast. It’s a fundamental principle in our current duality reality (yip, noetic and poetic).

Why Is There Dark?

If you can stomach it, I read a series of articles relating to the concept of Luciferianism and I recommend you have a read with an open mind — it helped me get a broader understanding of what we are dealing with: Who Lucifer Actually Is & Why They Are Here (Part 1)

After reading the content above, I had a great sense of sorrow, empathy and compassion (actually, no words can describe the feeling) for all those who have suffered and lost their lives to the perpetrators of such heinous crimes. However, I also had a sense of empowerment — now I feel I have a better understanding adn I feel it easier to cope with moving forward.

We really can’t deny the dark any longer. Look at the news. I need not remind you of the #metoo movement, continuous warring, paedophilia rings emerging in the political and ‘celebrity’/Hollywood arena and the recent spate of sexual abuse cases hidden by the Roman Catholic Church.

And there’s a lot more to come, people, so fasten your seat-belts! It’s all coming to the surface and we need to be emotionally prepared so we can face it head on. If you can’t deal with it, you can’t move through it to the other side.

Respect

To all those who survived such abuse, I would like to acknowledge your suffering and my heart goes out to you — living or deceased.

What grates me is that so many people are still burying their heads in disbelief that these things can happen and don’t seem to understand the pain they are inflicting by their indifference on the victims of such crimes.

It’s time to stop sweeping things under the rug because we can’t handle them. We need to be brave and courageous, we need to LOOK at what has happened for a healing to take place.

It is our duty as human beings to listen to and acknowledge the suffering and pain of our brothers and sisters all over the globe who have experienced horrors at the hands of those in power.

It is just plain disrespectful to not acknowledge their stories.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the whistle-blowers, truth-seekers, courageous journalists and all those exceptionally brave men and women who risk their lives (and many have died in the process!) to bring us the truth. So much love and gratitude to you.

God bless us all in these tumultuous times.

I read a quote the other day, it went something like this:

“Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear you path”

There is so much truth in that if only we could have the clarity of thought to see it that way when we’re in the eye of the storm.

Life’s Little Reminders

Things, in hindsight, always become clearer. It’s that one day that you suddenly wake up to realize that if that (fill in the blank) didn’t happen, you’d be stuck (fill in the blank).

And if these ‘storms’ don’t come to blast a clear passage, you can get awfully stuck in your comfort zone and never push yourself beyond to where your soul longs to be. Read related article: Comfort Zones: The Beauty of Awkward and Uncomfortable

Life’s trials will never cease to be there, it’s your perspective and how you choose to see and handle it that must change in order for you to be genuinely happy.

I have, in many circumstances where I would have normally thrown my toys way out of my cot, applied this concept of future projecting a positive outcome (just remember that the antithesis — worry — is future projecting a negative outcome) with absolute success. 3 Ways to Wave Goodbye to Fear

“Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free.” ~Jim Morrison

Fear controls most of us. The sh*t thing is, our controllers want to perpetuate fear in any way possible — it makes sense to those seeking power.

‘Fight or flight’ fear is useful as it can save our life but that insidious, worrisome fear can cripple our inherent right to joy.

Every time you give in to negativity and feed fear, the monster becomes more fearsome and more powerful. However, when we pop the bubble of the bogeyman under the bed and realize we created it — well, it becomes quite ridiculous, doesn’t it?

If we all make a concerted effort to rise to the challenge of facing our fears, we — as Mr Morrison so eloquently pointed out — will set ourselves free.

“We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face… we must do that which we think we cannot.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt

Love is Stronger than Fear

Let me share these 3 tips on how I manage my fears:

  1. Don’t Buy Into Fear. Think of all the things you’ve feared in the past — did any come true?  If yes, did you survive it?  I take it you did if you are reading this.  The frequency of fear draws that which you worry about to you.  Have you ever been with someone who is not afraid of dogs but you are?  When a dog comes running at you both — it goes for you, my sweaty-palmed friend, not your companion.  Animals, as you probably know, can sense fear — so can the Universe and the Universe is impartial.  It acquiesces to what it thinks you desire via your vibrational output.  Your emotions are pointing towards fear?  Expect life to 0006become frightening then.  The only thing you should fear is fear itself.
  2. Tune Into Love.  When you are in fear, inject some love into your aura by thinking of someone/something that brings you joy — it could be your loved ones, a furry child, the thought of something humorous or a really great memory. Have a cache of these to draw from — this is how you get to expand on the feeling of love in the face of fear.  Show fear that you are made of love and love is all there really is. 3. You are Powerful. You are in control if you choose to be. If you want to be self-empowered then the first things you need are awareness and the ability to take responsibility for your actions.  These two fundamental principles are gateways for you to step into your power. You can alchemize any situation — I actually want to get that tattooed to my forehead because I still tend to forget sometimes. Read related article: 3 Ways to Alchemize Chaos

“To alchemize a situation is to step inside it and transmute it from the inside out.  Get into what is bugging you (through meditation or quiet visualization) and start working your magic — find that gem of understanding/learning that the situation has to offer and morph it (through picturing what you want to see in your mind’s eye) into what you do want to see manifest in your life.” (excerpt from article, 3 Ways to Alchemize Chaos)

3 Valuable Understandings to Help You Kick Fear Addiction

Dangerous Love by Cherie Roe Dirksen

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” — Franklin D. Roosevelt

Creeping in Through the Cracks

Fear is a mighty strong emotion.

The Different Types of Fear

There are, of course, many different types of fear but they are all grounded in the act of giving your power away.

What you think about you bring about — your attention, good or bad — always feeds the probability giving it more gusto. So stop gusting away at those fearful ruminations!

Incapacitating Fear

In order to work fear back into the light, we need to find its polar opposite — LOVE.  When you inject love into fear it evaporates — it has no stronghold in the presence of love.

But how does one start projecting love when ones knees are knocking?

Well, let’s address what is called heart-centered living — I’m sure you’ve all probably heard that word by now.  People are throwing it about a lot these days (including me — guilty as charged!). As airy-fairy and lace-clad as heart-centered living may seem — there is a nugget of gold in the finding!

Quickening the Heart

When you work through your heart, based primarily upon how you are feeling about something (as opposed to working through your mind and how you think about something), you are guided by a more truthful resonance of picking up subtle nuances from your surroundings rather than being directed by what reason dictates.

So even though we are in need of our minds and pensiveness, we have been dominated by left-brain thinking for centuries.

3 Key factors to transmute fear are remembering to:

Love vs Fear: Which One Are You Going To Let Win?

HeartShaped Love by Cherie Roe Dirksen

No More Unconscious Creating

We are now firmly rooted in a new consciousness on Earth. As awesome as boldly going where no man has gone before is, we still have a major topic we need to address – fear.

In the absence of love we are left with fear. It’s as simple as: no light = dark.

When we no longer trust our instincts we give in to fear.  You can see fear as an illusion and only becomes a perceived reality when you let it become real for you.

Illusion versus Perceived Reality

To illustrate this point, lets take the illusory nature of assumption (for more about assumption, CLICK HERE).

When you assume something  you do not possess all the facts or truth of the matter at hand.  When you form an idea of what is happening you are assuming (which is an illusory concept).

Then when your assumption has rooted itself in your psyche as the truth, you give it form and this can lead either to the creation of your assumption or the suffering of your ego based on the assumption.  And all this was made possible through an illusion.

“When you worry about something you are future-projecting a negative outcome. “

Fear works in much the same way.  Worry is a form of fear that most of us are altogether too familiar with.  When you worry about something you are future-projecting a negative outcome.

Related article: Love Is Stronger than Fear: 6 Ways Americans Are Defying Islamaphobia

Sometimes the situations we worry about never come to pass.  Worry is an illusion. As the famous saying goes, worry only robs you of your present joy.

When I talk about the NOW or present moment awareness, I am referring to the point of acceptance that one arrives at when there is an absence of fear.  There are many roads that take you to fear such as worry, anxiety, stress, panic, anger, resentment, revenge, etc but they all are rooted in fear.

So, succinctly, fear is the root on the scale of negativity.  The opposite of fear would be love.

Good Ol’ Gushy Love

The emotions that lead you to love are joy, happiness, elation, bliss, mirth, laughter, etc and these are all rooted in love.  The ultimate root on the scale of positivity.  The light and dark aspects of existence.

Without either of these perspectives we would live a very dull life.  We need a basis of comparison, in other words, how would you know not to put your hand in the fire if you had never been burnt.

How would you know just how perfect your body felt if you hadn’t had that painful full-body, extra strength Thai sports massage?

“If you choose to let fear take a back seat you will see the world open up to you in ways you never imagined.”

We need comparisons to ascertain what we do want.

Fear is generally not wanted but it certainly gains momentum — it’s a tricky little blighter.  The thing is, and always will be, are you aware?

When you can become aware of your fears you can deal with them.  If you are playing the victim role, then perhaps you are quite content to be in a cocoon of misery – the choice remain yours.

  • Do you want this?
  • Is there a better way?

There is always choice and we are always co-creating our lives.  If you choose to let fear take a back seat you will see the world open up to you in ways you never imagined.

When you can master how you spend your energy and who you spend it on, you won’t allow yourself to be sucked into the various dramas that people create.  When you no longer fear living, you will begin to truly live in a way that embraces every moment.

Be Free

True freedom can only be found on the path that leads to the root of love — the knowing that all is well and the trusting that the universe is organized and you are a part of that.

“We all need to have our eyes wide open to what we are manifesting and creating on a day-to-day, if not minute-to-minute, basis. “

Look out into the universe.  Can you see how there is structure in everything out there?  There is the cycle of life, death and even a bit of chaos thrown in-between but there always seems to be an order and organization to the universe itself.

Planets aren’t shaped like bananas or cubes, they are round (or at least they were when I wrote this).  Most of them are in orbit around a sun.

There are, of course, some free-for-alls that do not have a sun to orbit and drift through space but what a wonderful metaphor for how some of us feel!  You know, the macrocosm reflecting the microcosm and vice versa.

Bashing Fear on the Nose

Fear is something that we all deal with daily.  No matter what label you put on the emotion – if it is negative or coming from a lower vibration, it boils down to fear.  We now need to march straight up to it and bash it on the nose.

“Everything you experience is a manifestation of your thought.”

There is no more time for unconscious creating in this world.

Related article: Consciousness Creates Reality: New Thoughts = New Action = New Life

We all need to have our eyes wide open to what we are manifesting and creating on a day-to-day, if not minute-to-minute, basis.

Everything you experience is a manifestation of your thought.  Everything from the bird in the tree that is singing to the cup of coffee that sits next to you.

Most people just think about manifestations as being on the bigger scale.  ‘Oh, I know I manifested that really needy relationship’ or ‘Yes, I acknowledge that I my anger could have caused the accident’ but do we really consider even the smallest of creations.  If not, you should – because there is no chance in our world – everything is co-created and manifested through collective or individual consciousness.

Hard pill to swallow?  Good!  Nothing worth knowing comes to you on a silver platter.

Fear not, all is well.

What You Need to Throw Out When You Decide to Choose Fulfillment

The Lovers Bench by Cherie Roe Dirksen

“Happiness is an inside job” — William Arthur Ward

“Be happy with what you have and are, be generous with both, and you won’t have to hunt for happiness” — William E. Gladstone

The one thing most humans have in common is the desire to be happy. Although most people seek it as either a future event or something that has passed, never to be recaptured.

Happiness or fulfillment is not something we should really be striving for in some up-and-coming event — it’s something we’ve got to grab right now.

We’re bogged down with the false sense of happiness through attainment — the idea that money and things can buy our bliss.

“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed.  Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.” — Denis Waitley

Let’s take a look at some of the prime aspects that I think are worth kicking to the curb in the pursuit of happiness:

  1. Negative Self Talk — You simply cannot thrive on a negative inner dialogue.  Masaru Emoto fluidly demonstrated the effects of positive, indifferent and negative emotion on water (see more HERE).  We are made up of approximately 55-65% water (depending on your age and sex), so can you imagine what negative thoughts are doing to your body?  If you’ve got nothing nice to say to yourself, say nothing at all.  Stop yourself when you notice the negative gremlins popping up.  Ask yourself if there’s something more encouraging to affirm. For example, say you’re thinking ‘I’m such a loser’.  You can redirect that to, ‘I try my best’, or, ‘There are some things I get right’.
  2. Self Loathing — There is no space for anything but self love if you want a fulfilling existence.  The type of self love I’m referring to is anything but selfish or narcissistic — it’s necessary.  You can’t expect other people to love you if you don’t have love, honour and respect for your self.  This kind of love is cultivated from an innate knowing that you are a complete and divine piece of universal energy (or God/the Force/fill in the blank here). It doesn’t need to rehash the past or beat itself over the head a million times for past mistakes or inadequacies — it is the wholeness of self realization (your ‘I Am’ presence). For more on this topic, please read ‘3 Crucial Steps to Self Acceptance’.
  3. Fear —  There are things much more important than fear and we’ve got to wake up and walk through the fear to get to them. Fear is a grand threshold guardian — you can either sit at the gate, dig your heels in and go no further or you can cock your hat as you pass on through. As Jim Morrison so eloquently put it, ‘Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free.’  Try to see fear as the rumblings of an earthquake that is about to shake you out of your comfort zone into an infinity of possibility.  When you walk through your fears there is only space left to be — when you are in this state, happiness or fulfillment is all that is left to experience.
  4. Service to Self — The greatest amount of happiness is achieved when we are not only seeing to our own joy but when we are helping others to find their well of happiness — service to others.  Throw out the need to trample on others in indulgence of your own whims.  We’re all in this life together — we should work in symbiosis with each other.  What affects one affects us all.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”   — Marianne Williamson

And in parting, here are some beautiful words from John Lennon that wrap this up nicely:

“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”

3 Questions You Need to Ask Yourself When Dealing With Aggravation

Use Your Experiences For Creative Expansion

Why Problems are Really Potentials

The Painters Universe by Cherie Roe Dirksen

The Human Condition

How often do we face troubling, irksome, unfortunate, gob-smacking, gut-wrenching, negative situations?  A lot?  Sometimes?

Is it something you fear coming up against?  Do you find yourself worrying about potential ‘what if’s’?

Whatever the answer — we all experience the downs of life as well as the ups.  It’s natural and all part of being human.  You can have it all together and be the most inimitable spiritual master sitting atop a Tibetan mountain and you will still face problematic encounters.

Problems don’t change, it’s how you deal with or perceive them that needs the changing.

Be Your Own Alchemist

What if I told you that you just might enjoy coming up against a wall in the future when you know what it represents and how to deal with it?

What we do with our potential problems is what I want to speak about today.  You can turn any situation into gold if you know how.  What am I talking about?

How Much Treasure Are You Sitting On —  Or Is It Just a Bunch of Rotten Bananas?

There is always treasure to be found in your trash.  Turning your situation around is just as simple as taking an over-ripe banana and making a banana loaf with it.

Savvy?

When life throws you lemons, make Margaritas!  When we mine what we initially deem as a negative situation, we could potentially find a myriad of gemstones in the experience.  The key is to have the right attitude and miners helmet!

We are forever expanding and learning — that’s just how our soul operates — when we get thrown curve balls they are really opportunities for expansion.

Yeah, your first reaction to something “caca” is most likely to feel down in the dumps but look back at your past — how many times did that awful thing turn out to be your greatest blessing?

Have you ever stopped to peek into your past experiences to see how things turned out?  It’s a great exercise as past experience often shows us future solutions.

If, every time something bad happens to you, you keep reiterating that your life is going to the dogs, then look at what a powerful manifestor you are!

Huh?

If you’re the kind of person who can’t ever find a positive aspect in a negative situation and all you can do is whine, complain and moan about how rotten your life is then you are creating more of that.  Kudos!

But wait, what about trying a different approach next time a truck load of sour grapes is being dumped on your doorstep?  After all, vinegar is very useful for cleaning toilets, did you know?

How to Turn Situations to Your Advantage

Okay, let’s get short, sweet and to the point of this blog:

  • Don’t fear the future — If you find yourself slipping into worry about what might happen to you and how you’ll deal with it, just affirm: ‘I am a powerful co-creator and I can bend anything to accommodate my joy’.
  • All Things Will Pass — This is a powerful realization as it works with both good and bad situations.  This is not to say you must fear all joyful moments as they will soon be gone — it is just a reminder that there is an ebb and flow to life and that when you are in the moment, it might feel like things will never change.  Thing is, the only constant you can rely on is change.  So, remind yourself that if you are having a bad day, tomorrows dawn might be a rebirth on the horizon.  And if you are experiencing joy in the moment, you are projecting more bliss into your future — so nothing to worry about there either.
  • Mine the Matter — You’ve got to dig deep into the situation (whatever it is) and scour over all possibilities to find the diamond.  Life doesn’t throw you anything you (a) can’t handle and (b) don’t need in order to grow.  And you’re just going to love the muchness that you have once you take the lesson and experience the gratification of growth!
  • Future Projection — No matter how bogged down and gloomy you may feel about things today, try to visualize how you want things to be.  Close your eyes and play a movie in your mind (in the region of your third eye, in between your brows).  Choose how you want this situation to play out.  Keep watching the DVD until you smile and really feel this outcome ingraining on your path.  Draw on that when you feel yourself slipping into dread or doubt.  Keep affirming your ideal outcome.  You are an alchemist, get used to it!

Program a New Reality, Neo

A really fun thing to do is to keep a diary of all the events that you have turned around through your own personal alchemy.  When you look back on the pages, you’ll start to see the pattern of your power emerging.

You are sitting on an immense and phenomenal ability — the power of mind, heart and emotional connection (read HERE for more about this supreme trinity and how to use it) that turns your matrix into the womb of creation that it was always supposed to be (did you know that the word ‘matrix’ means ‘womb’ in Latin?).

You create in your own personal matrix. So, don’t fear the future and what it may bring — scream out, ‘bring it on!’ and know that you can figuratively turn any base metal into gold because problems are only disguised potentials.

It’s your job to uncover the illusion and to stop buying into victimization.

Take a Lesson from the Magpie

To hammer the point home — there is an inspirational, innovative and enchanting gallery/shop where I live called Magpie

They ‘upcycle’ trash into the most beautiful art concentrating on jaw-dropping, spectacular chandeliers.

What a perfect metaphor for us — isn’t it about time we turned our trash into art?  Our lives could be sheer masterpieces of glued together strife made triumphant!

3 ‘Dark’ Lessons Darth Vader Can Teach Us!

Dancing in the Void by Cherie Roe Dirksen HEADER

The Geek That I Am

I’m a Star Wars junkie.  I grew up on it and even had my very own personal Luke Skywalker figurine.

As I entered my adulthood I never grew out of my lust for sci-fi.  When I jetted into my 20’s George Lucas brought out the prequels to this trilogy and I was back in exo-politics heaven again.

Thankfully, my husband is also a total Star Wars fundi (a South African word for ‘expert’), so we have sci-fi marathons on the couch together and totally geek-out.  We just recently had one of our back-to-backs and it got me thinking.

Poking About the Dark Bits

So, in the movie, the ‘Dark Side’ is still part of The Force (God/Source/Universal Energy Field or whatever else you want to call it) but it is the negative scale of emotions — giving into anger, fear, betrayal, vengeance, etc.

Those emotions spiral us down a path that leads to great suffering and pain.

So what can we get out of our darker side?

  • Fumbling in the Dark — We all experience great loss and sorrow but to linger in the past does not serve us (nor did it serve Anakin Skywalker who later became Darth Vader).  The good news is that life’s hardships often make for life’s most important lessons and elevating stepping stones to self-realization.
  • Peering into the Dark — It’s okay to face our dark half and experience our darker emotions.  We all have to face the dichotomous nature of self at some point.  The key is to accept our selves, be in a place of non-judgment (especially when we face our shadow self — read more about that HERE) and rather adopt an attitude of compassion and understanding.  Know that we all have our moments but what defines our character is how we act upon them (unfortunately ‘ol Darth took the path to destruction).
  • I’m Not Afraid of the Dark — Then the ultimate lesson we can take from Darth Vader is acceptance of what is — not being afraid of the cycles of life and death and acknowledging the eternal nature of spirit.  This is something that Vader the young could not adapt to, especially when facing the death of a loved one.  His rage, fear and anger overtook him — everything seemed so ‘unfair’.  Vengeance was all he sought and the fear of loss (caused by unprecedented attachment) clouded his vision. At the very end of his life his own son showed him that love, compassion and forgiveness was the only path to true freedom.

Yoh!  Thanks George Lucas for bringing us this silver-screen gem.

Finding a New Way to Accept Death

Smudgy

What a dramatic headline!

I’m feeling rather dramatic as my face is still encrusted with tears as I write this — it’s Friday the 2nd August 2013, a day I’ve been dreading for the past week and there’s no going back now.

I had no intention of writing about this so soon (if at all) but was suddenly struck with the urge to share this and, hopefully, shed a bit of perspective (and possibly a tear or two) with you.

D-Day and Empty Spaces

We put down our aged dog this morning, something I haven’t had to do before as I never had pets growing up.

“You think dogs will not be in heaven? I tell you, they will be there long before any of us.” ~ Robert Louis Stevenson

Although the procedure went very smoothly, nothing can prepare you for the emotional torrent that washes over you the minute you step back into your home and feel the empty space that furry little sausage has left behind.

I am already catching myself half way to the front door to let her back in and looking at the clock wondering what I’m going to give her for supper tonight.  Then the stark reality hits.

Needless to say, I feel like I’m drowning in my own tears right now but I know that, in time, this too shall pass and she will just be the sweetest memory (and I have so many) that will always bring a smile to my face.

A Vote of Sympathy or a Shift of Perspective?

SmudgeThe reason I’m writing this is not to angle for your sympathy or to make you feel lousy.  I’m writing this because I have been battling with guilt for the last week.  A guilt that led me to alter the way of looking at death.

Let’s cut this down to brass tacks.

This decision was a few months in the making. My husband and I have been debating whether to put her down or to wait — weighing up the pro’s and con’s.  Every time we seemed to reach a conclusion, guilt intervened.  The voice in my head would rear and whisper:

  • You’re playing God.
  • Maybe she still has a few months left in her…hell, maybe even a year!
  • She’s still got a wet nose and a twinkle in her eye on those good days.
  • Why don’t you just let her go naturally?
  • Look into those big brown eyes — she trusts you and you are plotting to kill her!

Yup, as melodramatic as it sounds, these cursed thoughts pop up every time I became resolute that we needed to do this and soon, as now her limbs were giving way.

Then the voice of reason would start a counter-argument:

  • She has had a good long life.
  • She is deaf, half blind and riddled with arthritis and ever-growing fatty cists.
  • Her back legs are failing her and you aren’t always around to help her back up.
  • She sleeps most of the time and her quality of life is not what it used to be.
  • She hasn’t been able to go for a walk in almost a year.
  • Things are only going to get worse from here on out — let her go!

You know, when I write this out and look at it, it seems like a no-brainer but when you’re the one calling the shots the weight of responsibility is overwhelming.

The run up to our appointment this morning was thwarted with days of feeling like we were doing the right thing and days when indecision crept up and cracked it’s whip in our ears.

The Point at Which Acceptance Came

smudge and mike

My neighbor has just had a litter of Labradors — yes, utterly adorable little creatures that catch my eye every morning as I open my bedroom curtains and look down at them galloping about in their yard.

Early on this week, I was looking at how curious, eager and happy they were, frolicking about the garden investigating every little thing.  It made me think of Smudgy and how much she loved her walks in the field (I never had her as a puppy, she was adopted by my mother when her first owners passed away and then when my mother died five years ago, she came to live with us).

Yes, Smudge had definitely been around the block!

But back to the puppies…I realized that instead of thinking of this as a linear thing (i.e. you are going to kill her), I needed to see this from a broader more ‘quantum’ perspective — I am going to help her to transition.

Then a new series of thoughts struck me:

  • Dubious SmudgeYou are coming from a place of love, she’ll feel that (i.e. this is not a betrayal of trust, it’s an act of kindness).
  • You will only be helping her to cross over and who knows, maybe sooner than later she’ll be one of those pups running amuck in a brand new body!
  • When she does transition, she’ll also be met by all of her other mothers (and father) who will be waiting on the other side of the veil for her.

When the Moment Came

The days that preceded today were fun.  I can’t lie, there were moments where I would have a wobble, but, mostly we made the last days the best we could.

Smudgy lived for food, so we bought her everything we could think of as a treat.  Every meal she had this week made her eyes bulge!  It was classic to see.  She got massages and was showered with love, hugs and kisses.

This morning came and I sat beside her and calmly told her what we were about to do and why.  I told her about the other side and all the potential that lay ahead of her.  I know she couldn’t understand what I was saying but I hope that she could feel the message and sense my love and excitement for her and her transition.

Cherie and SmudgyI called on my mother to be with us and the archangel Ariel (angel of animals), so my entourage was on hand!  Then I swallowed almost half my bottle of Rescue Remedy (for those of you who aren’t familiar — it’s an herbal tincture to calm you down) and got into the car.

When the time came, I was able to keep her focused on me whilst telling her I loved her and kissing her until she fell asleep.  She was looking up at me with her beautiful brown eyes — full of love and trust right up until the moment she fell into permanent sleep.

She was the bravest little soldier imaginable and I couldn’t have wished for an easier transition for her — thanks to my excellent vet and his assistant and my husband, Michael.

Detaching and New Beginnings

It’s always harder for the ones left behind, we know this.  But, if you’re ever up against a decision like this or if you need some peace and detachment, please try to see that death is a gateway to a new beginning.

smudge and the skyDetachment is different from blocking off or forgetting.  It’s about accepting the good, the bad and the in-between and finding peace with all three.  A middle ground of acceptance of what is.  It’s making a list of the pro’s and con’s and finding that all is in balance.  There’s a circle to life and circles are infinite.

Michael said that when she slipped away (he was standing next to me), he felt a great sense of relief, as if she was conveying to him that she was happy to be released.

I think that when death presents itself on our doorstep, we can find solace in remembering that all things must pass in order to be rebirthed.  And when transition is inevitable, find the strength and courage in your heart to send a soul on its way with all the love and joy that you can muster.

However, in saying that I’m still bleary-eyed and exhausted from this emotionally draining experience and I need to mourn and take some time to reflect, integrate and grieve.

Thanks for reading this, I know it couldn’t have been easy.  I hope my ‘lil Smudgy has let you see things from a slightly different perspective.

I’m going to end this off with the comforting words of my amazing vet. ‘You let her die with dignity’.

3 Silver Bullets to Eliminate Fear

Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free. ~Jim Morrison

Shooting Straight from the Hip

Fear is a mighty, malevolent and strong emotion.  Why does it have so much potency in our lives?

The media, governments and big business corporations galvanize us into believing or buying into so many illusory reasons to fear the worst case scenarios (as made up by them).  They usually claim to hold the answer to all your problems too – not in the least bit suspicious, right?

We also need to take responsibility for giving credence to and creating our own fears, literally stifling ourselves with things to worry about.

Every time you give into fear you feed negativity and give it more power.  In fact, you give away your own power in the process.  Fear is a choice, like it or not.

There are, of course, many different types of fear but they are all grounded in the act of giving your power away.  When we come up against any fear, we are actually being presented with a chance from the universe to be brave and face up to it.  Get to the nitty-gritty and uncover the truth about why we are so afraid or uncomfortable.

Stripping Fear

Let’s get to the core of anxiety.  What is fear?

In order to work this emotion back into the light, we need to find its polar opposite.  This, simply put, is LOVE.  When you inject love into fear it dissipates.   It has no stronghold in the presence of love.  But how do I start projecting love when my knees are knocking?

Well, let’s address what is called heart-centered living — I’m sure you’ve all probably heard that word by now.  People are talking about it a lot and as airy-fairy and lace-clad as it may seem — there is a solid foundation of truth in it.

We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face… we must do that which we think we cannot. ~Eleanor Roosevelt

Heart-Based Quickening

When you work through your heart, based primarily upon how you are feeling about something (as opposed to working through your mind and how you think about something), you are guided by a more truthful resonance of picking up subtle nuances from your surroundings rather than being directed by what reason dictates.

So even though we are in need of our minds and pensiveness, we have been dominated by left-brain thinking for centuries.  A shift is occurring, not to totally disregard our thoughts but to channel through the heart and then process through the mind.  In other words, not just to go straight to the head and bypass our hearts or how we are feeling intuitively.

Rationality can be useful but it has, in some cases, left our instinctive abilities to wither in its heated presence.  Sometimes our ‘logic’ has actually hindered and held us back from following our bliss because ‘society dictates otherwise’ or ‘the norm is to…’  — be careful of whose ‘norm’ you are conceding to.

It’s that age old conflict between science and spirituality (left-brain versus right-brain) — the solution to which is using both in balance.

3 Key factors to transmute fear are remembering that:

1. FEAR

Don’t buy into it.  Think of all the things you have feared in the past — did any come true?  If yes, did you survive it?  I take it you did if you are reading this.  The energy or vibration of fear draws that which you worry about closer to you.  Have you ever been with someone who is not afraid of dogs but you are.  When a dog comes running at you both, it goes for you, my sweaty-palmed friend, not your companion.  Animals, as you probably know, can sense fear — so can the universe and the universe is impartial.  It acquiesces to what it thinks you desire via your frequency output.  Your emotions are pointing towards fear?  Expect life to become frightening then.  The only thing you should fear is fear itself.

2. LOVE IS ABSOLUTE

Get used to being tuned into your feelings and steering them to safer shores.  When you are in fear, inject some love into your aura by thinking of someone you love, your favorite pet, the infectious chuckle of your child or grandchild or a blissful memory.  This is how you get to expand on the feeling of love in the face of fear.  Show fear that you have too much love in your heart.  Fear is a mental construct in the absence of love.  Trust your instincts.

3. YOU ARE IN CONTROL

Short, sweet and to the point.  If you want to be self-empowered then the first things you need are awareness and the ability to take responsibility for your actions.  These two fundamental principles are gateways for you to realize your inherent potential.  You are a co-creator, take responsibility for that and take control.

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear. ~Nelson Mandela

3 Simple Steps to Release You From Depression

Every Road Leads to Rome

Everything is, and will always lead us back to the Divine Source.  However, sometimes we take detours along this path to try to discover more about who we are.  So sometimes ‘all roads lead us to roam’ in some cases.  Some of us need a little reminder or nudge to get us back into alignment with our mission in life.

What is our mission in life you may ask?

To discover our divinity and this is done through lessons.  However, we sometimes fall so deeply into fear and depression that we can’t see that the light switch is dangling just above our own heads.

Polarity

Everything has its yin and yang (it’s positive and negative attributes). So does the Divine Source. We are here to experience both sides of polarity, to eventually work our way back into the light, which is all-encompassing.

“We can plough it with antidepressants or we can just leave it and let it fester, but neither way is addressing the root of the problem. When you face the fear, you can walk through it.”

White light holds every colour in the spectrum; what a great metaphor for us. When we can work out the extreme opposites and find a balance between the two poles of existence – the yin and yang – we move back into an integrity that has been long-lost and forgotten through the widespread broadcasting of fear.

When we hold our emotions in fear we tend to feel it in our solar plexus, that feeling of ‘butterflies’ or ‘a great pit’ in the stomach. This is our emotional reaction to let our body know something is amiss. We can plough it with antidepressants or we can just leave it and let it fester, but neither way is addressing the root of the problem. When you face the fear, you can walk through it.

Here are 3 simple steps to take which will enable you to realign with your purpose:

  • HermioneGet Vocal — Adopt a ‘Listening Buddy’ — Sometimes a problem doesn’t even need your ‘listening buddy’ to come up with a solution; why is this? Because, we intrinsically, just want to be heard and acknowledged. This can bring us into balance. When we voice out loud our ‘mind chatter’, we can often make sense of it for ourselves just by hearing the power of the emotions taking the form of words. The words are a manifestation of the emotion, and therefore can sometimes be released when spoken. That is why some people calm down considerably after being allowed to ‘say their piece’.
  • Get Creative — Is there a hidden passion in your life, something that you love to do but have been suppressing or putting off?  No more excuses, get back on that bike and ride!  When you engage with the right hemisphere of your brain (where your creativity lives) you will feel elated.  It realigns you to your feminine, nurturing, explorative, passionate side and can ignite the flame for your ultimate purpose (if you don’t already know what that is).  Explore different avenues of creativity until you find the one that just simply ‘clicks’ into place with you.  You will find it, you just need to exercise patience and endurance.  Engage your inner child with this and see every new venture as an ad-venture.  No time is ever wasted when you are having fun.
  • Get Quiet — Find time to meditate or do some breathing exercises, yoga or Tai Chi. Find something that enables you to quiet your mind and have some free space without thought.  This will get you in touch with your higher self and will realign you to your greater purpose.

Taking Responsibility For Your Co-Creative Abilities

It Always Starts With Choice

You may have noticed a theme in this life called freewill.  Everyone is free to make up their own minds and act accordingly.  This can also be said on an energetic level.  We may say one thing but mean another, our true intention is usually emitted via our emotional body or frequencies that we give off.

You can say that you are feeling fine but your energetic signature could be telling a very different tale.

“That is why the old adage ‘the world won’t change only how you view it can change’ is so true.”

You cannot fool yourself into the truth, you can only accept what is and try to find a space to feel good within that.  To see past the sometimes limited view of what is happening in our current experience and to turn it into something positive or to try to view it from a new and clear perspective.

That is why the old adage — ‘the world won’t change, only how you view it can change’ — is so true.

When you choose to view something from a higher perspective, you are giving yourself an extremely powerful tool.  Most people never get to use this handy God-given tool and go their whole life giving into the illusion that the are a victim of circumstance.

Victim of Circumstance — Don’t be Just Another Statistic

The attitude of victim or ‘poor me’ syndrome is one that too many people use to justify their lives and what is happening to them.

“Life doesn’t just randomly happen to you, you are the one happening this life into fruition, or, as the case may be, into decay.”

It is used as a crutch to get you through life and to never take responsibility for your cause and effect actions.

Life doesn’t just randomly happen to you, you are the one happening this life into fruition, or, as the case may be, into decay.  If you take responsibility for this fact, then you are well on your way to creating your destiny and not falling victim to your so-called ‘fate’.

Are You Displaying Salmon-Like Tendencies?

However, if you are wading through life as if it is a torrent, pushing and struggling against it and getting swept away with it, then you are in a victim mentality.  You are pushing your way upstream, and, seeing that you are not a salmon being called back to  your mating grounds, this is not going to serve you.

” There is usually some kind of pay-off with any situation, figure out what yours is and how you can now change it to better suit where you want to be.”

This may have benefitted you up until now, by allowing you a loophole to get out of facing your choices, actions and inactions.  There is usually some kind of pay-off with any situation, figure out what yours is and how you can now change it to better suit where you want to be.

Holding on to any thing or situation that keeps you comfortably tucked up in a blanket of deceit will eventually come around to bite you in the butt.

You Matter, Your Life Matters, Quit Ostriching About!

If you truly want to be a co-creator of your reality then you must step out of the illusion that you do not have a say in the matter.

Extract your head from the whole in the ground.  Only you can’t see what is happening around you when you do.  To everyone else, all they see is a big black and white bird with its head stuck in the ground.  They can’t understand why such a big and powerful avian has to try to conceal itself in the midst of danger — why not face the world and exercise your powerful muscles of choice, action and manifestation?

Your life matters, you matter. Ruffle those gorgeous feathers, bat your luscious eyelids and do the dance of joy!

Choose your experiences and be mindful of when you feel you are in a situation that is ‘out of your control’.  Think again.  Try see the lesson;  Try viewing it from a different perspective.

  • What do you feel is out of control in your life?
  • Do you feel like there is no way that you can control your destiny?
  • Or are you someone who has stepped into their power?
  • What do you do differently now to how you reacted before?

Are You Using Your Heart Properly?

Listen to Your Heart

hand on heartTo avoid the cheesy violin strings and perhaps the urge to start singing a Roxette song, I’m going to get straight to the point of this blog.

Your heart centre tells you where you are heading.  Your gut instinct is a great thing to follow and that usually tells us when we have strayed off course.  You know, the butterflies in the stomach or sinking feeling felt in the solar plexus (stomach area).

When you can shift the feeling of surety up into your heart centre and feel an overwhelming confidence for what you are doing, then you are working from your heart and you can trust the process.

If you feel a strain in this area when you move your feelings up into your heart centre, then you need to reflect on your decision, something is still amiss.

The Importance of Feeling

Why is it important to feel things?  Our emotions are our internal guidance system, much like a GPS trying to steer us onto the right course, if only we pay attention.

“…we reconnect with our soul and can realign ourselves to our purpose.”

DisconnectedIf you are working with a GPS in your car and you keep ignoring the signals then you will be in a state of chaotic driving, going nowhere at every turn.  Feeling lost and disconnected whilst at any point in time, you could have just listened to that voice on the GPS to get you back on track.

This is why meditation is so useful, we reconnect with our soul and can realign ourselves to our purpose.

Are You Lost?

It seems like a no-brainer but we often decide to just ignore our gut instincts or turn off the voice of reason in the head.  That is when we wander from our path and get lost in the forest of uncertainty.

Do You Know You Have a Compass in Your Pocket?

So take time out to meditate, realign and trust the heart.  You have an internal barometer — use it.  Trust yourself more.  You do know everything, it is all there at your core and when you tap into that, you are tapping into the knowledge of the Universe or what is sometimes referred to as the Divine Matrix.

You just need to learn to be still, patient and to listen.

Don’t Let the World Get You Down!

How to be in the world but not of it

As things stand now, you are most likely reading this blog from a computer somewhere on planet earth.  My marvelous skills of deduction are quite remarkable, I know.

We seem to all be in the same boat, paddling around in circles, paddling against the current or drifting out to sea.  How can we be in this beautiful world but not let it get us down?

Let’s face it, there is a lot of stuff that can, and does, lower our spirits and dampen our whetted desire to be on this planet.  But then, when we look around, we see that this planet is an exquisite paradise, filled with beauty, intrigue and adventure.

Why is it that life can be so damn tough when there is also so much fun to be had?

Heaven on Earth?

There is a simple truth to life.  We can create heaven on earth but we can also create our own personal form of hell.

Our very thoughts and actions will determine which destination we end up in.

Are you living in fear?  Meet Jack Soap…

When you live in fear you are perpetuating fear.

Let me give you an example.  If Jack Soap listens to the news constantly on the radio (which primarily reports bad news and how terrible the world out there is, along with all there is to be fearful of), he will be in a conscious or even unconscious negative frame of mind.  His preset to life will be tainted with a neuro-linguistic programming of doubt and fear.

You may even find that Jack has a preconceived idea that he should trust no-one.  He may even not like to venture outside his own home, let alone comfort zone, for fear of being attacked.  He may even cringe at the thought of an overseas holiday, he’ll think you mad if you were to suggest such nonsense, what with all the potential terrorists on-board planes these days!

Poor Jack may not even realize that there is a sunny and bright side to life.  It is as if he could be living on a different planet to John.

Are you living in love? Meet John Doe…

Meet John Doe (yes, alright!  I know my pseudonyms leave something to be desired).  He enjoys listening to uplifting music rather than put on the news.  He enjoys walks in the park and getting in touch with nature.

He sees the beauty that the world has to offer.  He smiles at people as he walks along his path and they smile back.  He is certain that there is goodness in everybody because that is his experience.

John is living in the world and enjoying it.  He is not letting the world dictate his experience, he is dictating his own experience.  He is detaching from potential drama because he knows he has the choice to only focus on the positive aspects of life.

When John does this he is in control, he is mapping out his destiny according to what he wants to manifest.

He is not a victim of circumstance and he is certainly not an unconscious creator.

Jack vs John

Jack, on the other hand, is in the world and of the world.  He is getting trapped in the lower vibrational frequency of negativity and he is letting the world dictate his experience.

He is unconsciously creating an undesirable life.  He may not even be aware that he can change this at any time if he so wishes.

Jack was blessed with freewill, just like John.  Jack, however, can’t seem to see it.  He can’t take responsibility for his life choices because he feels he hasn’t made them.

But he has.

Whether he chooses to accept that or not, he has made his bed and he is tossing and turning in it.

Can you see the message behind the metaphor?  Be in the world not of it.

Freewill and Choice

Choose your experiences.  Choose what you expose yourself to.  Choose to engage in drama, or choose to love from afar and lend your support whilst creating strong, effective boundaries.

You do not have to get involved and bogged down in drama if you don’t want to.  You can always help those in need but you can do it with detachment.  This means that you can still help in this world but you are fully aware that it is not required that you get involved with a problem — most certainly not to the extent that it encapsulates you in drama.

Detachment

Detachment is not a word that describes the state of not caring.  Quite the opposite.  You care enough to help and you care enough about yourself to remain neutral.

Think of detachment like Switzerland — the neutral zone.  You can lend a hand but you are not getting hooked into anything.

You can live in this world, enjoy it and be mindful of the ‘drama’ and/or the negative aspect of life.  This will give you the freedom to pick and choose your experiences and know when to help and when to say no.

Do you feel that life is taking you for a ride?  Or are you in the drivers seat of your experience?  Share your stories…

The price we are paying for our spiritual upgrade is sleepless nights/insomnia, waking up at 3:00 in the morning (not again!), feeling lethargy/exhausted for no good reason (except the sleepless nights, of course), headaches and migraines that leave you feeling incapacitated, mood swings that knock you off your feet (with no sign of PMS in sight), strange eating patterns, loss of lustre and, probably the worst of all, the dark night of the soul.

We are experiencing a massive wave of cosmic energy hitting us from all directions, from planetary alignments to solar flares and gamma rays.

The Dark Night of the Soul

What is this?  It is the feeling that you could sink no lower.  When the earth seems to literally have been taken out from under your feet.  You wander around in a daze, not knowing if you are coming or going or even if you want to be here to participate in the first place.

“No-one understands you and you certainly don’t understand anyone else.  You want out!”

It is a feeling of great depression, possibly the worst you have ever experienced.  And mostly, and this is the really irritating part, you don’t know why you are depressed, you don’t seem to have a good enough reason.

You feel like an alien on your own planet.  No-one understands you and you certainly don’t understand anyone else.  You want out!  You even may seek medical advice because your body is doing the fandango and you ain’t dancing!

This happens to even the best of us.  You are not alone and this feeling will pass in time.  I know this because I have had several ‘dark nights of the soul’ periods over the past 2 years and, even though you feel like it will never end, it does.

This Too Shall Pass

You have been through a lot in your lifetime.  Cast your mind back to all those events that you thought you would never get through.  Well?  Did you get through them?  The answer is probably yes.

“When you can find the middle ground — where you are satiated, at peace and have found contentment in the moment — you have found your source of power.”

When we are faced with depression, worry and anxiety — just to name a few — it is very hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  However, it is there, it is always there.  You are not alone and you are never abandoned.

Just remember that everything is fleeting and all things will pass.  The good and the bad.  This is not meant to make you feel uneasy, especially if you are in a good place.  It is just a bridge to help you to cross to a peaceful frame of mind.

You have most likely also been in vast amounts of joy and happiness in your life.  The feeling of elation also doesn’t last.  You may not feel unhappy when it passes but the elation does pass.

Where Your Feet Touch the Ground and Your Head Floats in the Sky

When you can find the middle ground — where you are satiated, at peace and have found contentment in the moment — you have found your source of power.

A great exercise to help you to ground yourself is to go out and be in nature.  Sit under a tree or feel the grass under your bare feet.  There is nothing like nature to draw you into the present moment.

We do live on a beautiful planet in an extraordinary point in time — don’t forget that.  Try to remind yourself of it as much as possible, especially when you are feeling low.

Your choices determine your life, you chose to be here.  Enjoy the bumpy ride and hold on for your dear life — the roller-coaster has only reached the summit!

My latest book is out now at all leading bookstores:

Aliens — How Close Are We To Disclosure?

Since the early twentieth century aliens have fascinated us with the stories of UFOs and tales of abductions. Fanciful books and movies about aliens have circulated since the great hype of the 1950s.

“What if, through science fiction, these films were made to prepare us for the inevitable ‘close’ encounter?”

Our imaginations have run riot, and we have invented and perhaps correctly, documented many various adaptations of what alien beings may look like – some scary images and some rather pleasant ones.

What if, through science fiction, these films were made to prepare us for the inevitable ‘close’ encounter? A slow and methodical, calculated adjustment to the truth that lies out there in space.

Whether you believe in aliens or not – as the movie Contact so eloquently put it through Jodie Foster’s character. ‘I’ll tell you one thing about the universe, though. The universe is a pretty big place. It’s bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamt of before. So if it’s just us… seems like an awful waste of space. Right?’

(The above passage has been taken out of my new book ‘Divine You — Redefining Love in the New Earth’, which is AVAILABLE NOW.)

After really wanting to have a tangible UFO experience, I am happy to report, my husband (Mike) and I witnessed a UFO.  It was a truly awesome experience and I am ecstatic to have had him with me and to have seen exactly the same encounter.  It was a reddish-orange orb (Mike said he saw a light within it) and it was flying in a straight line that eventually tapered up and out into space.  It was also morphing slightly as it was flying and it made a very soft droning sound.

I obviously know what an aeroplane looks and sounds like and this was not an aeroplane.

The most intriguing part is that I was lying in bed with the window and curtain open.  It was about 23h00 at night and Mike was lying next to me, asleep.

A voice spoke inside my head and said, ‘Look out the window‘.  I did and saw this orb floating past my neighbours roof.  Well, I got such a fright that I literally pushed Mike out of bed and we both hurried downstairs and outside to take a closer look.

How bizarre!

Have you ever seen or experienced a UFO?  Would you like to?  Do you believe in aliens?  Please tell me about your encounters…

How Can Wishing For Your Rivals Success Make You Successful?

Is There Enough?  How to Wish for Abundance for Others Too…

This is the part that most people don’t get and it is such a wonderful thing to do.  It is a great test of your faith and just how much you want to see others happy and successful too.

“…would you only want one of your children to succeed in life?”

This principle works on the visualization of other people succeeding, especially those you deem your competitors.  It is a hard concept as we are taught that there is not enough for everyone and that we must win and in order to do that, someone must lose.  This is utter nonsense as the universe is abundant.  This is another ploy in keeping us on opposing sides – the ‘me’ versus ‘them’ theory.

“We don’t all want the same thing anyway, so stop feeling threatened by others…”

Let’s take the ‘Parent Analogy’ – would you only want one of your children to succeed in life?  Of course not, you would want them all to succeed.  We don’t all want the same thing anyway, so stop feeling threatened by others and the wonderful idea of everyone experiencing abundance.

If you believe that the Divine is behind the Law of Attraction then it makes perfect sense, yet again, that we all manifest abundance.  Just like  parents wanting all their children to have happy and prosperous lives.

“Is it not a thrill on its own to see other people happy and excited?”

So, whatever situation you want to bring into your life, be it a successful career or a successful relationship, see others enjoying the same benefits.  If it is a raise in your salary you desire then see all your colleagues happy faces as you visualize them all receiving a raise.

Is it not a thrill on its own to see other people happy and excited?  This vibration is also extremely powerful and will make you a magnet for success, especially as all those around you will be experiencing good times through your visualizations as well!  How about that for a win-win situation?

If you find yourself having trouble with this exercise, then it might be prudent to question, deep within yourself, why you are feeling this way.

This exercise will help you to see the Grand Design – a world of joy and creativity where everyone’s a winner.

Does God Love Us Unconditionally?

I am continuing my blog from Tuesday, where we are taking a look at unconditional love.  To recap please click here.

Divine Love

Now the Divine Source (or ‘God’) that I best understand never judges.  You want to know why ‘He’ doesn’t get involved in human affairs?

“Of course there will be no smiting, there is no judgment.”

Well, the analogy that the Divine is the all seeing father/mother figure brings into focus that when we do something ‘bad’ the Divine will strike us down but this never happens. Some of you think ‘He’ just doesn’t care but I think it’s because the Divine is free of judgment.

The statement that ‘God is Love’ reiterates this.  Of course there will be no smiting, there is no judgment.  Do not conceptualize the Divine as if He/She was human.  It is only us that think like this.

The Human Parent vs God Analogy

As the entity referred to as God has been interpreted as our all loving, encompassing parent, we too are intrinsically a good analogy for this as we all have that basic instinct for love of our own children or relations, even if they are not blood relations, we all have somebody whom we love and cherish and this is the one (or many, hopefully) that we will use this analogy upon.

“You can do nothing wrong in the eyes of the Infinite Oneness.”

I can only speak from an observation standpoint as I, myself, am not a parent.  But the love a parent has for their child is irrefutable.  Your child can do nothing to stop the unconditional love that you have for him or her.

“So the laughable image of hell is a complete and utter scare tactic. “

This is the basic framework of this analogy we will be using because this principal works the same way for the Divine Source.

You can do nothing wrong in the eyes of the Infinite Oneness.  Your behaviors may not be acceptable in certain situations but you, as an entity, a child of the Divine, will never be discarded.  So the laughable image of hell is a complete and utter scare tactic.

Hell — The Biggest Lie Ever Told

If your child did something really bad would you want to see them burn in an eternal pit of fire? Would you physically take your child and want to see them scream and burn for eternity?

I’m pretty sure the answer is ‘no’.

“Do you think the Divine so low as to not have compassion for one of His/Her own?”

So why is it that some people expect God to do this?  What an insult to this all-knowing, all-encompassing Father/Mother figure.  Do you think the Divine so low as to not have compassion for one of His/Her own?  This is one of the most devastating myths we have ever been told and it was invented to literally make us fear something which certainly has not got anything to do with fear.

The Divine Source/God/Infinite Oneness is all about love.

Don’t Suppress Your Divinity through Fear

The vision of hell keeps us trapped in fear and entices us to buy into the various doctrines or religions that claim to prevent this damnation from occurring.  It is a way of suppressing your true divinity by making you fear a made up scenario.

This is a game of entrapment through a web of fear.

Set The Truth Free

The truth is that we will never be judged or damned, we are all holding a shard of the Divine within us.

“Not all religions or doctrines are necessarily bad, they have many great truths in them, although sometimes misconstrued along the way…”

This truth will not allow for such lies to hold any more credence and as we all start to claim our own divinity we will see these old institutions crumble and/or, for the institutions that are willing to bend to incorporate this truth, we will see a restructuring in various doctrines to allow for this ‘new’ human attribute.

The Evolution of Mankind

Having Fun ©Cherie Roe DirksenNot all religions or doctrines are necessarily bad, they have many great truths in them, although sometimes misconstrued along the way, but all that needs to be done is to redefine some texts and have them be more flexible to allow for a changing world and evolution of attitude.

There is no better analogy than that of the human ‘family’ that we treasure so and put so much emphasis on.  We do this because it is real, unconditional love and it is the closest we are going to get to understand the complexities of unconditional love for ourselves.

The Baboon and The Butter — Part 2

Read Part 1 HERE

Carnage!

More baboons had slipped inside my house as I was pursuing my perpetrators. This time I grabbed the garden hose, turned it on and ran into my front door ‘guns blazing’.

Another Interesting Fact About Baboons…

Baboons don’t like getting sprayed with water ( a small God send). They took one look at the hose pipe and made a run for it without me even having to start spraying. Relief! I ran around my house making sure the windows were all closed so that no more monkey business could ensue.

The Big Clean Up!

To cut a long story short, my house was in a shambles. They had trashed my kitchen. If I hadn’t been so adamant to retrieve my butter I would have saved myself a lot of money and trouble.

After cleaning up the mess (which took me close to an hour), I sat on my couch head in hands, just thinking about the pandemonium that had just taken place. I saw several blatant lessons in what had just happened…

“…this day showed me that even a tub of butter could spark off a suppressed ego…”

The moral to this story for me was the realisation that I am still attached to ‘things’. I thought I had conquered my worldly attachment in my pursuit of spiritual enlightenment. But this day showed me that even a tub of butter could spark off a suppressed ego — this was certainly food for my thought.

A Lesson Learned…

We can all fall off the bandwagon but the real lesson is to get back on. I learnt that it was alright to lapse and make mistakes (even if this did mean chasing a wild animal without fear of consequence and putting myself in very real danger). The key is to see and be aware of the lapse and to make every effort to not let it happen again or even just to laugh at it when it does.

So let go of material attachments as everything is unstable and situations are changing constantly.  I felt that I had paid good, hard-earned money for that butter and it was mine!  But what was even more precious than something I bought at the store was my life.  I put myself in danger  over a petty ‘issue’ that I constructed in my mind and followed through on and I hope that never happens again.

Sometimes we need to detach from these ‘worldly’ things — after all, we are free spirits and should remain that way.

Free from rigidity.
Free from fear.
Free to live.

Free to choose.

I took the above photographs on the ‘Baboon Walk’ I did.

The Baboon and the Butter — Part 1

I live in a beautiful part of Cape Town and one of the great blessings of staying here is the indigenous flora and fauna. We have guinea fowl, ha-de-dah’s, squirrels, cranes, porcupines (although I have never been so privileged as to see one yet) and most poignant of all – baboons.

Baboons are so amusing and so human-like but they can also be quite frightening with their long fangs and alpha male supremacy squabbles. Most of which turn into amateur roof acrobatics when they fight and chase each other from rooftop to rooftop. This is especially daunting as I have a tin roof. I will leave the noise up to your imagination…

But besides this, I love the baboons and find them fascinating. So much so that I have even been on a ‘baboon walk’ – this is where you get to ‘hang out’ with them in their natural environment (run by Baboon Matters Conservation Group).

During my baboon walk I was even groomed by one of them – an honour I shall never forget!

My story begins not so long ago in the sticks far far away…

After seeing my husband off to work one fine day, I found that I was not alone in my house.

There were 2 baboons in my open plan kitchen raiding my reserves. One had my choc-chip cookies under his arm and the other my tub of butter! Now, casting all practical knowledge of how to deal with this situation aside (basically get out), I saw red and charged at them shouting (in the most terrifying voice I could muster) ‘RAAH-RAAH!’ (yes, just like Nicole Kidman in ‘Australia’!).

This baboon had my butter!

For some reason, unbeknown to me, I had a connection with that tub of butter and was willing to risk my life (or perhaps not so dramatically, loss of limb or fingernail) to get it back from the thieving hands of this rude mammal.

“To no avail, he looked up at me, with mild amusement, and to my mind, complete arrogance and hugged the tub of butter to his chest…”

After startling them with my fierce war cries, I ran after them, out of the house and down my driveway into the road — all the while shouting at them to ‘give it back!’

Finally, he stopped to try to consume his prize on my neighbours lawn. I stopped running and stormed up to him with a finger wagging in his face, demanding that he give it back to me this instant! To no avail, he looked up at m — with mild amusement, and to my mind, complete arrogance — and hugged the tub of butter to his chest in a gesture that would have translated a bit like this:

‘When hell freezes over, crazy blonde lady!’

A Little Practical Advice About Baboons…

Once a baboon grabs something, he doesn’t let go. Another interesting fact is that baboons are not scared of women (a fact that got lost by the wayside with me). So here we have a baboon who isn’t letting go. Is this the same for humans? Why can’t we ‘let go’! ?

Hmmm, I’m beginning to smell a moral to this tale…

Back To The Story

I started to see reason (and danger for the first time) and began my ascent back up the driveway in defeat.

I suddenly realised that there was a raucous commotion coming from inside my house. I heard glass crashing and panic set back in…I’m going to stop there and will continue this riveting tale in Part 2 NOW AVAILABLE HERE.

Butterflies and Hurricanes — 2012 is Here!

So, 2012 is here and we are about to enter one of the most anticipated years in history!

Are you feeling it?  This year has a certain air of mystery, intrigue, excitement, anxiety, angst and nervous anticipation.  What do we do?  What can we do?  Is there anything TO do?

The answer is an emphatic YES!  You can take time out this year for yourself.

The Search to Reconnect with Your Inner Being

Inner reflection is the key to unlocking the authentic you.  The you that is your core essence, buried deep down inside  — past all the various layers you have accumulated over time and experience.

“If you make yourself a top priority, you will be strong enough to help others on their path.”

  • Take time out to meditate, get in touch with the silence.  Learn to be comfortable in silence.
  • Take a fresh look at your diet and make sure to add lots of pure water, fruit and vegetables to it.  Remember that you are what you eat.  Do you feel heavy?  Are you eating heavy starchy foods?  Or too much meat?  Get real about what you are putting into your unique temple.
  • Treat your body to regular exercise.  Do something that you enjoy.  It is useless to commit to an exercise regime when you hate it.  Play to your strengths.  Do you like to take a walk in a forest or along a beach?  Do you enjoy dancing?  Find out what you like to do and fit it into a fitness routine.  Cater to your needs and preferences.
  • Take time out to be in nature — go to the beach, climb mountains, hike in fields or simply sit under a tree.  Reconnect with the Earth — this is your home.  Find the beauty that is on your doorstep.
  • Get creative.  Take time out to muck about.  Get a hobby, rekindle your interest for photography or art.  Give yourself time to explore a creative avenue.
  • Play.  Connect with the inner child every once in a while (preferably as much as you can).  Play in sand, dance in the rain, laugh your head off — let your hair down and stop caring about what anyone thinks.  What do you think?  That’s all that matters.
  • Eat lots of dark chocolate.  I don’t know how important this step is but I thought it might round this list off nicely.  However, it has been proven to release happy endorphins in your body, so a little shouldn’t hurt!  Click here for an article on the positive effects of eating chocolate.
New Years Resolutions…

So, this new year make your resolutions about you and reconnecting to your divine self.  Explore your inner depths and uncover your I AM presence.  If you make yourself a top priority, you will be strong enough to help others on their path.

Be kind and compassionate towards yourself and you will then be able to find it easier to relate to others and to see the connection we all have with each other.

Separation is the Illusion, unity is our reality.

Butterflies and Hurricanes

This year may feel chaotic and turbulent but you can always transmute any energy to your advantage.

You can choose to be the butterfly, free and beautiful or you can get stuck in the hurricane of chaos and drama.

Choices map out our future.  Make sure you choose from your heart.  It is easy to get caught up in drama if you don’t remain grounded and coherent in your thinking patterns.

Detach from drama and be the still presence.  Be compassionate and loving whilst remaining firm and grounded.

Happy New Year everybody!

My new book is due for release soon…

Out now…

Armageddon — is it the End of the World on the 21st December 2012?

2012 and the Hype

Green Planet lo resWe are counting down the days to 21-12-2012, the date that the Mayans set as the last date on their calendar.

This is how I see it — definitely not the end of the world.  I don’t think the Mayans ever meant for it to be interpreted that way.  It is a reset button.  And it’s about bloody time!

Resetting the Consciousness

All these portals that we have been going through, like the 10-10-10 and the 11-11-11, are influxes of energy to help us transmute energy for redefining ourselves and our lives.

Huh?

Oh, never mind about the portals business, if that’s freaking you out a bit — just try to understand that change always begins with you.  If everyone turned within and not without — ie. looked outside of themselves for answers — we would have had peace on Earth a long time ago.

But, as is appropriate, we are making that great leap forward now.  Thank goodness for great miracles!

“The people are stepping up and are being heard”

The Lighthouse IIThis time we are living in, is a cause for tumultuous celebration (even if we are celebrating the ‘unknown’) — it should not be interpreted as a time for doom and gloom.  We are sitting on the precipice of global evolution — worldwide change.  You see it in the press every day — not all of it, granted (due to the media being ‘screened’ and a lot of good stuff left out, whilst lower vibration news is left in to create fear and worry that doesn’t serve you), but a lot of the news being reported can be read into and there is definitely global change afoot.

We even see our Mother Earth shake and rattle about preparing for the shift.  The microcosm reflecting the macrocosm and vice-versa.  We all need to bring up some unwanted stuff to transmute and move on from before we can truly step into a new reality.

“The word is being spread at a remarkable pace and we can all join in on this ride and lend our support”

We are seeing new leadership, uprisings, economic protests and so much more.  These are the signs of positive change.  The people are stepping up and are being heard.  It is not easy but it is being done, country by country.

Can you feel the sense of unity?  Especially through the wonders of the internet.  The word is being spread at a remarkable pace and we can all join in on this ride and lend our support.  We are seeing unity consciousness in action, a pace that even the global elite can’t keep up with, as they see the power slip through their fingers.

Be the Change

Gandhi said ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’.  This is a message for us to pull finger NOW.  If you are going to buy into all the ‘end of days’ scenarios then that is what you are going to create in your reality.  You will tread the path of chaos.

“See yourself in this new world and see others there with you, equally enjoying their creative gifts and living their best life”

Believe in your heartIf you master your thoughts and prepare for a world of infinite possibilities where you are the co-creator of your life and reality, and every other living soul is the master of their destiny, then you are preparing yourself — manifesting your dreams as well as the dreams of the collective.  See yourself in this new world and see others there with you, equally enjoying their creative gifts and living their best life with ALL of their basic needs met.

What do you want to see happen in the world?

What would your ideal world look like?

Find this out for yourself, then meditate on it.  Hold that vision.  Your thoughts are mighty and powerful and, if you give this new energy we are being bombarded with a chance, it can give extra potency to your visualizations and manifestation process.  So see, in your third eye — your minds eye, the change you want to manifest and hone in on that every day.

Be clear about what you want.  Focus on living in that reality and change the tracks to your New Earth.

“We set the clocks back when Jesus Christ was born.  Perhaps we need to reboot this system/reality and explore a new age…this so called Age of Aquarius

2012 is about resetting time (or perhaps doing away with it altogether).  It’s not that far-fetched.  We set the clocks back when Jesus Christ was born.  Perhaps we need to reboot this system/reality and explore a new age…this so called Age of Aquarius that everyone was banging on about in the 60’s.

It is upon us and it is exciting.  Pop the champagne cork and manifest Heaven on Earth!

Is Fear or Love Winning in Your Life?

No More Unconscious Creating

We are now firmly rooted in the dawning of a new age and new consciousness on Earth. However, there is one major topic we need to address – fear.

In the absence of love we are left with fear.

When we no longer trust our instincts we give in to fear.  You can see fear as an illusion and only becomes a perceived reality when you let it become manifest.

Sometimes the situations we worry about never come to pass.  Worry is an illusion.

When we talk about the NOW or present moment awareness, we are referring to the point of acceptance that one arrives at when there is an absence of fear.

How would you know just how perfect your body felt if you hadn’t had that painful Thai massage?

“If you choose to let fear take a back seat you will see the world open up to you in ways you never imagined.”

We need comparisons to ascertain what we do want.

Fear is generally not wanted but it certainly gains momentum.  It is a tricky little blighter.  The thing is, and always is, are you aware?  When you can become aware of your fears you can deal with them.  If you are playing the victim role, then perhaps you are quite content to be in a cocoon of misery – the choice will always remain yours.

Do you want this?  Is there a better way?  There is always choice and we are always co-creating our lives.  If you choose to let fear take a back seat you will see the world open up to you in ways you never imagined.

When you can master how you spend your energy and who you spend it on, you will not be sucked into the various dramas that people create.  When you no longer fear living, you will begin to truly live in a way that embraces every moment and does not fear death.

The Dirty ‘D’ word — Death

Death is probably the biggest fear of all.  Death is a gateway to another experience.  Experience is the key to existence.

So instead of thinking of death as a finality, think of it as the ultimate experience and see how you can drop the illusion of fear that is crusted around death.

As I once said to an atheist science teacher, what have you got to lose?  If there is nothing after death, then you would never know and would just be snuffed out, with no after thoughts.  No problem there.

“True freedom can only be found on the path that leads to the root of love — the knowing that all is well and the trusting that the universe is organized and you are a part of that.”

However, if there was an ecstatic afterlife with a soul group orientation, my God – what a bonus!  Now I say that very tongue-in-cheek but in all seriousness – we are energy, ask any scientist.  Energy cannot be destroyed, only transmuted.  F

ear around death is truly scary as it acts like a net that traps you.

Have you ever noticed how some people transcend this life with a smile on their face and how some leave truly terrified?  Which one do you want to be?

There is no more time for unconscious creating in this world (for more about consciously co-creating your life, CLICK HERE).
