Why Patience Truly is a Virtue

Why Patience is a Virtue

“Do you have the patience to wait until your mud settles and the water is clear?”
Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

  • Have you ever been so swept up in the heat of the moment that your emotional outburst made things worse?
  • Have you ever wished you had just waited a bit or ‘slept on it’ before you reacted?

We’ve all had these moments, I’m sure.

It’s that hostile e-mail from a client,  that disruptive request from a friend or relative that caught you off-guard or the ‘pop-up’ abrasive guest at a dinner party that set your fireworks off.

Stirring Up the Mud

When you’ve got your knickers in a knot over something, the best thing you can do (because, obviously, your buttons are being pushed for a reason) is to take a time out to reflect on it.

  • Why are you being emotionally triggered?
  • Is it something you can alchemize (read more about that here: 3 Ways to Alchemize Chaos) — which simply means transmute (can you dowse the flame)?
  • Is burning that flame necessary or is it something you can let go of?
  • Is this a battle worthy of your energy or can you let this one go (i.e. choose the battles your fight)?
  • Do you have to be right or can you simply be the still presence without reacting?
  • Can you say what you need to say, be impeccable with your word and then let it go — whatever the outcome?
  • If you can sense a situation heating up, can you send out calming energy? Give it a try — it can really work.

If you’re in a situation where you can’t simply say, ‘let me get back to you‘ — or where you can leave replying to a text message or e-mail until the morning, when you have had time to calm down and reflect — simply say or do nothing. Try and sneak a ‘time-out’ by excusing yourself to go powder the old noggin, so you can take a few deep breaths and regroup.

The moment your levers are being pulled and temperature is rising, this is your indicator that you are out of balance. Sometimes they are even old, outworn emotional reactions that no longer serve any purpose. Always question why you are reacting and ask HQ (your higher self) for some guidance and clarity if you are at a loss. Letting the Water Clear

Never react to something when you are in a heightened emotional state. Even if you think your wording is sound and diplomatic, your energy will come through and it will be perceived in the emotional state you’re in.

I’ve had countless experiences where I have written a perfectly straight-forward e-mail but have been in a raging temper and the recipient has picked up on the hostility even though the words were PC. I now know never to write in any kind of altered emotional state — I only respond when I am in a place of balance and calm.

SUBSCRIBE icon 1The situations I have dealt with in a calm state of balance have turned out well. It also helps exponentially when you can visualize the outcome you desire. Practice holding that vision every time you slip into worry about something (always clearly see the desired outcome).

Patience, in these matters, can truly temper a volatile situation.

When ‘the water clears’ you will be able to see the situation from more than your emotional reactive state. You can glean different perspectives which will give you a more transparent picture of how to handle the situation. Always speak from your place of truth and integrity.

It is perfectly fine for you to take your time over giving an answer or reacting to a situation. Don’t let others pressurize your cooker into exploding.

Dissolving Chaos (Especially in Lunar Energy)

You can listen to the audio/video of this article HERE or below (thank you Higher Self channel for creating this audio).

Once in a Blue Moon…

I thought I’d write a little something today about the Full, Super, Blue, Blood, Eclipse (did I leave anything out?) Moon that’s happening tonight (read more about that here: Rare ‘Super Blood Blue Moon’ and Lunar Eclipse On Jan 31).

I’ve been witnessing the most bizarre behavior in my own community these past few days leading up to this rare moon event. Literally, people are flipping their noodles!

I’m pretty empathic (sensitive to others energy), so I can get really sucked into the drama which I’ve, thankfully and with practice, managed to avoid — but this lunar energy is still something to behold.

When the Shit Hits the Fan

I’m going to make this short, sweet and to the very sharp and somewhat smelly point:

  • Get out of any energetic shit storm that you might step into the path of — you can be the still presence but don’t get emotionally involved. Use your compassionate detachment and send lots of love and blessings to those who you can see are in a chaotic way. Remember ‘this too shall pass‘(it might be passing like a kidney stone but it will pass ) and ‘all is well‘ (this statement can alchemize a lot of disruptive energy) — those phrases always get me to take a knee and ground myself in the present moment.
  • Deal with what is yours to transmute. If it ain’t yours then walk away (as stated in point no. 1), if it is yours then visualize what you WANT to see happen instead of focusing all your creatively powerful thought on what you DON’T WANT to see happen. I do this all the time and you just won’t believe the power of intent — things can turn out better in ways you couldn’t possibly imagine. So, for example: You don’t have money to pay the bills. Instead of worrying about it, focus ALL (yes, ALL) your attention on seeing yourself happy and having all your bills paid. Follow your excitement and passion (i.e. do what brings you joy and makes you happy — this could mean taking a nap under a tree or making your favorite meal or doing some color therapy). You don’t have to figure out the HOW, you just need to focus on the OUTCOME. The HOW will happen faster in ways you couldn’t have dreamed up, so let that shit go. Don’t forget to follow the breadcrumbs (synchronicity — read more about that here Why Synchronicity Can Change Your Life) because if you’re too tied up in what you don’t want, it’s unlikely you’re going to have the perception to see the solution.

Taking the Piss in Shitty Situations

SUBSCRIBE icon 1

I’ve said ‘shit’ quite a bit in this article and it’s with good reason that I’m flaunting my particular potty-mouthed flare. I have to share this story with you:

My father in law called up this morning to say that his septic tank (sewage system) just collapsed with him standing on top of it and he nearly fell in (thank God for his quick reflexes!). What a crappy situation and I totally sympathize with him. However, it did make me chuckle at the analogy of this ‘rare moon shindig’ bringing about a lot of ‘shit’ that we have to deal with.

It seems that if we don’t deal with it, it’s going to come up and bite us in the…well, you know. Shit’s going to rise, man! But, hopefully, I’ve equipped you with some good 2 ply toilet tissue tips on how to wipe up the mess.

This world is a mysterious matrix of holographic information (so much big truths reflected in the ‘little’ things) and it’s good to see the funny side of things, so, the last thing I want to say is: find the humor. When we can have a good laugh at ourselves, our situations and even other peoples interesting creations/situations (albeit not to their faces — let’s avoid a lunar punch-up!) — we can start to turn things around.

How to Avoid Quantitative Action Dissatisfaction

How to Avoid Quantitative Action Dissatisfaction

The Slippery Slope of Getting Stuck in More

On my life’s journey, I’ve dedicated most of what I do to the creative arts. When I felt I hadn’t ‘succeeded’ in becoming the world famous artist or writer my ego wanted me to be — I created more. And more.

I painted more paintings to add to the collection (sitting gathering dust) or I wrote more content because maybe ‘this’ one would be the one to go viral.

Now don’t get me wrong — I actually enjoyed doing most of these activities but, in the same breath, felt like I was drowning myself in product and content. Do, do, do instead of be, be, be.

Human Doing vs Human Being

All of what I’ve achieved to this point has made me who I am, and I’m totally cool with that. The thing I want to stress in this blurb is the ‘auto-pilot’ I was on. I’m in awe of how much one can learn about oneself and the deeper the rabbit hole gets, the more funk comes floating on by.

“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

I recently outed this auto-pilot program and it’s insatiable thirst for ‘more’ and the penny dropped.

Less is more. Quality over quantity.

Just stop ‘doing’ and you will see that what you want is already there — it’s inside you waiting to be revealed.

But here was my trap:

  1. I thought (and this could apply to any given trade) that when I didn’t sell one of my paintings — fresh off the easel — that the next one would be ‘the one’. I would grind over whether I was choosing the right subject matter, style, mediums, whatever! Now, I was selling my art but not nearly as many as I desired to sell.
  2. I thought that perhaps my art wasn’t flying off the shelf because I had self worth issues but that just didn’t resonate with how I felt inside. I liked what I was doing and I enjoyed doing it. Where’s the problem?
  3. I thought ‘the problem’ lay in point no. 1 (not hitting the ‘sweet spot’) — hence, I started going around in circles creating more stuff and more stuff to market. I created more work for myself as each piece needed to be loaded onto my online stores, online galleries, sent to art licensing agents and/or taken to physical galleries. Life wasn’t getting simple (desire), it was getting complicated (nightmare) and this was not my intention at all. So, where was it all going so wrong? Read related article: How to Stop Monkey Mind Manifesting

Here’s my solution:

  1. I had a conversation with HQ (Head Quarters/Higher Self — read related article: How to Communicate Instantly with Your Higher Self for Speedy Manifesting) and simply asked for what I wanted. Boom. Within 24 hours there was a sale from a site that I had yet to sell on and had been a member for over 4 years!
  2. I got a ‘download’ (we are in a matrix/hologram/construct after all) that I was a scatterbrain. I was stretching myself out in so many directions that I couldn’t concentrate on one thing at a time. This left me with little quality time to spend on each thing I was trying to manifest. Trying to do them all at once was leaving me tired, confused and unfocused.
  3. The solution was to focus on one thing at a time — giving quality of attention to each unique thing, taking it slow and methodically. Then when I achieved what I was after, I could focus on the next thing instead of attempting it all and feeling overwhelmed.
  4. The BIGGEST a-ha moment came when HQ started sending the most profound synchronicities my way to try and show me that all I had to do was get quiet and ask — I had to get out of my own way. I knew this intrinsically but with the fast pace of life, I’m sure you feel the same way sometimes, I can get swept away in all the ‘junk’ I think I have to do that really turned out to be time wasting BS.

Learning is great — it’s the journey we take — but sometimes different perspective is sorely needed. I don’t regret the journey but welcome this new viewpoint with relish and relief.

Go Talk to the Flower, it Knows

I even started to notice this ‘pattern’ in my garden (I love my garden as it is the macrocosm to my microcosm — the hologram reflecting the whole). I have a rather large garden with a lot going on. I’ve got sections of vegetable and fruit patches, sections of flower beds, entertainment areas, indigenous garden beds, etc. — you get the picture.

“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better” — Albert Einstein

When I moved here in 2014 the garden was bland and pretty lifeless. I had a vision of creating a wonderland and I mapped it out and started the work.

However, the climate here in the South African Karoo is severe — winter brings frost and sometimes snow and summer brings heat-waves that kill off plants in one fell swoop.

To say the least, it’s been a learning curve for hubby and me.

After my HQ dialogue, I began to see that because I was scattering myself all over my garden — trying to do everything at once — it wasn’t quite looking the way I had envisioned.

Can’t See the Forest For the Trees

Again, this was because (notice the same pattern at work as with the art):

  1. When a plant didn’t ‘take off’ — I went out and bought other plants that I thought would. When these didn’t ‘take off’, I continued to buy more and more and more for the garden.
  2. Instead of focusing on getting one patch to work, I spread myself all over trying to make it all work at once to little avail.
  3. When things weren’t looking good, I decided it was because I had to create another ‘section’ of the garden to work on thus creating more work for myself and little attention to what was already there. I can be such an arsehole sometimes, I mean really! But when life is happening, one seldom takes time to reflect or to truly look at what you’re doing — it’s that damn auto-pilot again!

Crashing the Plane and Starting Again

SUBSCRIBE icon 1

I decided to crash the auto-pilot program and start anew. Now I pay attention to various sections of my garden. Give them a good soak with the sprinkler instead of dashing hither and thither with a hosepipe. Whilst the sprinkler is on, I can dead-head, weed and potter at my leisure.

My garden is already responding.

In my life, things are just falling into place. I have had miraculous turn of events and am very happy in my chosen careers and feel like, finally, I have regained control. The key was always to simplify and get the most quality out of my chosen experience and I now know how that feels: It feels good!

I was choking under all the fluff I was creating and realized that all I had to do was get clarity, awareness and a little bit of guidance from HQ. Now, in this place of calm, everything is just naturally falling into place.

I hope this helps those of you who are perhaps trying too hard to get where you want or what you want — let go and let your HQ guide you to your dreams in the quickest way possible.

How to Communicate Instantly with Your Higher Self for Speedy Manifesting

Manifesting with Your Higher Self

Mind-Blasting Stuff

I’m going to try and make this as straight forward as possible. Lately I’ve been playing with the idea that we’re in a construct reality or a ‘matrix’.

It’s been an astonishing revelation as synchronicities and instant messages have come pouring through the cracks.

I’ve always had a great deal of ‘bread crumbs’ from the unseen realm since I began my journey but when I got the proof that I asked for that we are living in a slightly different ‘reality’ (or should I say illusion) than I expected, these memo’s from what I like to call Head Quarters — or ‘HQ’ for short (aka your higher self) — came in thick and fast.

Just for example: I was reading from a book — and had just happened to ask HQ a question — when the radio talk show I was listening to started speaking the very words out of the book I was reading. Mind = blown. It had answered my question perfectly.

Stranger Things…

Once you get your head around the matrix stuff, it’s actually quite liberating. It means you ‘exit’ the autopilot form of plodding along in ‘reality/illusion’ and YOU get to call the shots — or rewrite the program. Something akin to lucid dreaming in the ‘real’ world.

So, how do you do this?

It couldn’t be easier!

I can only speak from my personal experience (obviously) and what I do is literally have a conversation with HQ. You can ask for xyz and wait patiently for your bread crumbs to appear. In some cases, the whole loaf will plop into your lap buttered and all.

I’ve tried it, tested it, prodded the technique and have had some startlingly speedy results.

Don’t forget that the analogy for your HQ or higher self is that ‘it’ is on top of a skyscraper looking down on all the avenues of possibility, you (in corporeal experience) are on the ground level looking dead-ahead. If you want to know the quickest route to a specific destination — check in with the control tower (HQ).

The most important things to remember are:

  1. Get clear about what you truly want.
  2. Get yourself a pendulum (Pendulums 101 – What, How, Where and Why) so you can get a quick no/yes/maybe answer.
  3. I use my pendulum (dowsing is you communing with HQ or your higher self) to check that what I want is something in alignment with what HQ wants (remember: you are here with a ‘blueprint’ or ‘mission’ so if what you’re trying to acquire is not congruent with that assignment, you’re going to hit a wall). Most of the time, I am in alignment with my pre-chosen path. However, I have occasionally experienced straying off the yellow brick road to pursue something that looks shiny and wonderful that’s turned out to be a dead-end pursuit — shit happens, but you can easily avoid these pit-falls if you trust your innate wisdom or just completely trust that the Universe has your back (or dowse for the answer).
  4. SUBSCRIBE icon 1If you do ‘want’ something that is not in alignment with HQ, let it go. You haven’t got time to waste on going in circles and it’s probably something your ego is holding onto. If you detach, you will re-enter the cosmic slipstream — remember that when you want to cling onto outworn dreams.
  5. The last but not least thing is — drum-roll — you have to believe 100% that HQ is there and listening. Sorry, but there’s nothing that kills your communique than doubt. If you doubt, then your wish is granted and you’ll get something to doubt about (I’m a poet and I sure know it). It sucks but that’s how it is and you’ll soon get the hang of it. I was teetering on being somewhere between 75%-80% believing that we are in a matrix/construct program — then, through a series of personal revelations — I went sailing to 100% believability That’s when things REALLY changed for me — instant manifestation 101!!! Just remember to check in at no.1 again. Be sure of what you want, it’s kind of important.
  6. If you doubt, ask for confirmation. That’s how I got to 100% believability. Prepare yourself for a deep rabbit-hole, red-pill experience — it’s trippy stuff.

Happy manifesting!

How to Avoid Misunderstanding Forgiveness

Forgiveness

To Forgive is Divine

“We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.” ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

The topic of forgiveness harbors much resistance in some — it’s a touchy subject to say the least. The biggest misunderstanding — in the act of forgiveness — is to think that you are condoning the action, whatever it may be.

Forgiveness is actually letting go of the act not necessarily forgetting it (you may need to remember the experience later on in life so as not to be burnt again).

In letting go of the action taken against you, you free yourself from it from this moment on — you no longer carry the weight. You lighten yourself of the burden of holding onto it and give yourself permission to start anew.

Looking Deeper

This doesn’t mean that you have to be bosom-buddies with the perpetrator (you may choose to cut them out of your life completely, which may be completely appropriate in your given circumstance) nor does it mean that you indemnify their actions — it simply means you have compassion for the person. You have empathized enough to have understanding as to why the action took place.

An example would be that an abuser may have been abused — this will be your chance to step into the shoes of the ‘villain’ (who was the ‘victim’) and to see the course of events that lead to the ‘act’. You may grapple with the fact that some abuse victims don’t ever become abusers — that abusers choose their course of action. This is true — our lives revolve around choice. However, the course of action (in the case of the incident having already taken place) is set and all you can do is have compassion for the individual who, should we say, strayed from the path. When you can do this, it is easier to practice forgiveness.

“Forgiveness is not always easy. At times, it feels more painful than the wound we suffered, to forgive the one that inflicted it. And yet, there is no peace without forgiveness.” ~ Marianne Williamson

Forgiveness = compassion and understanding.

Forgiveness does not mean condoning or forcing yourself to see the person as ‘innocent’ or the actions carried out as okay.

“To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.” ~Lewis B. Smedes

Find Out How to Tune Into Your Personal Higher Vibration

How to Raise Your Vibration

Meditate or Bust

The penny dropped for me during this last week. I’ve taken to practicing 10 minute meditations every morning, even my hubby joins me and we do a focused joint intention.

After 2 weeks of doing the same thing, I noticed that the meditation was getting a bit stale — like running over the same old ground. We were visualizing our common goal and what it would be like to have it, etc. and we were both getting a bit bored.

I then entered the meditation with no ‘goal’ or ‘affirmation’ and something said to me, ‘You Are the Universe‘. Simple, hey? You bet!

The ‘voice’ was right. I expanded my consciousness out into the dark void of this Universe in my third eye and everything was just amazing. Perfect. How it should be.

I felt connected to Source.

Well, I’m sure a lot of you are thinking ‘duh, that’s what meditation is supposed to be‘ and you are, of course, right! It’s so simple but, hey, I’m human and I tend to complicate things. I think we all do at times. Thing is, being alive is supposed to be uncomplicated and abundant and joyful and and and….

High-Riding Vibes

When you’ve asked for something, in my understanding, it goes into your cache. Your asking is over. No need to ask anymore — it’s there.

What you have to do is raise your vibration to meet the expected thing you’ve asked for. You’re not going to be rich by placing the thought for ‘more money‘ into your bag and then feeling lack of said money. The money is yours, your job is to discontinue to ask for it but to elevate your frequency to the level of receiving it. We tend to just keep ‘asking’ and never focus on the ‘receiving’. Am I right or am I right?

Ask….gotcha…receive…huh?

We’re all good at the asking part of the Law of Attraction but most of us pretty much suck at receiving. Why? Cause we’re programmed — as a society — to be chasing, working hard and running ourselves into the ground for what we want.

Stop.

You don’t need to do any of that. Your new job is to take up meditation on a daily basis and just feel pure joy.

When you tap into Source energy, you ARE abundant, you HAVE absolutely everything because you are the Universe! Easier said than done? No, not really.

Meditation, like everything, needs practice. Don’t give up even if you’ve got a monkey mind. Concentrate on your breathing (or, just read this article: Meditation For People Who Don’t Meditate (A Simple Guide)). When you can get to the state where your mind is still, focus on something easy like tobogganing or hang-gliding or whatever else floats your boat.

The key to this is: everyone is different and no ‘one meditation/mantra‘ will fit all.

If the violet flame doesn’t feel right, don’t try to picture it. If calling on angels has no meaning for you, don’t let it ruffle your feathers. If picturing yourself in a cave full of treasure seems ridiculous, don’t be a pirate. If you ‘aint feeling the rainbow aura, you may not be a unicorn. Don’t force a square into a round.

Put a Smile on Your Dial

You’ve got to figure out what does put a smile on your face. Think of the Harry Potter series. When Harry had to conjure a patronus (spell) he had to think of the most amazing experience of his life. This is what your homework is. You’ve got to find that one thing that speaks to YOU.

Let me give you my example and maybe you can better understand what I’m going on about:

In my last meditation I imagined myself swimming in a stream and going with the flow. I like to swim and the feel of water all around me, so this already put me at ease. I pictured myself diving off waterfalls and being swept away to different pools and going down natural slides. It was great fun and I felt pretty good. Then I got washed up on a shore of smooth gemstones and crystals. I lay there and my body literally shuddered. My vibes were taken up a notch. I then went and sat on a throne of quartz crystal in the shade of some beautiful tropical plants and, again, another shudder of good vibes was sent through my body.

This really made me feel good throughout the day and it was only a 10 minute meditation. Tailor make yours to fit in with your likes and don’t try to squeeze into someone else’s version of meditation. Other peoples meditations can be great and I’ve used quite a few but I have to admit — now that I’ve taken the training wheels off — my own imagination is the bomb!

Raising your frequency will allow more wonderful things to come to you. After I did this meditation a whole heap of unexpected cool things happened in my life within the following 48 hours.

Don’t forget to not hold any rigid attachment to how you want things to work out, just let the Universe take care of your wealth and abundance the way it should be. Your job is to have fun and enjoy the ride!

Going Deeper into Couch Manifesting — What You Need to Know (Especially no.4!)

Going Deeper into Couch Manifesting

The Law of Least Effort

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about my new found delight — couch manifesting. You can recap here: Couch Manifesting: The Only Way to Dream Big!

I’d like to go more deeply into the whole process of what I meant when I said you need to get to a point where it feels real.

I’m going to spare you no details, perhaps to my detriment. Let me warn you in advance — things could get a bit graphic and parental guidance is advised.

Before I begin, I was thinking about writing this article in the wee hours of the morning and — to my surprise — realized I was engaging all my chakras during the couch manifesting process. I thought that was pretty cool. Read related article: What’s Your Chakra Awareness Level? Take This Quick Quiz

Here is my 7 step program:

  1. I sit comfortably. I prefer to have my feet up on a cushion but you can even lie down and do this — the more comfortable and at ease you are, the better! The reason for this is that the first thing I like to do is the mantra: ‘the Universe has my back‘. What better way to get into this than by feeling that you are supported and comfy?
  2. I start to take deep breaths. I do three inhales to the count of five, hold it for five and breathe out for five. I imagine I am breathing in from the top of my head (crown chakra) and this awesome life-giving prana is filling my body with cosmic creative energy. Now I feel relaxed.
  3. I visualize. I clearly see what I would like to manifest in my minds eye (third eye chakra). If it’s a problem that needs solving — I concentrate on how I would like to see it play out or resolve itself. I do a lot of smiling when I see the ‘problem’ turn into a solution. Smiling, laughing or bursts of mirth helps you anchor the joy of having what you want.  If I’m trying to manifest something else, I feel myself in the moment where I have it. I tap into what it feels like to have it and I say, ‘thank you, thank you, thank you!‘(throat chakra engaged!). You may have noticed that I like to do things in 3’s — you do however many repetitions feels right for you.
  4. I spend time in the feeling. This is where I shift my focus into my heart chakra. I feel my heart expand as I see what I want unfold. I then take it one step further and let those feelings pour from my heart into my solar plexus (the stomach area — where the butterflies like to take flight). Here comes the juicy part: I then let those feelings spill into my 2nd chakra (the sacral chakra — seat of sexuality and creativity). Now I start blissing out big time and even go into an orgasmic state — every fiber in my being is shifting into ecstasy (this Universe works on cosmic, sexual energy so you’d better start getting used to it! Who’s complaining, right?). Orgasm is the closest I’ve ever been to God — so, it should surely work when you’re trying to create a glorious reality (Read related article: The Science of Stress, Orgasm and Wellbeing).
  5. I feel it in my butt. Wet, Wet, Wet felt in in their fingers and in their toes — well, I feel it lastly in my derriere. I couldn’t possibly leave out the root chakra in all this manifesting. The energy of feeling the reality of your focus in the NOW moment leaves me with a tingling tush.
  6. I bring it in and boogie. All these steps may sound a bit complicated — they really aren’t. You don’t have to worry too much about how much you do or don’t feel it in your chakras, buttocks or anywhere else for that matter. Getting into the space where you feel your manifestation all fleshed out differs for each individual. I think the most important thing to focus on is a kind of ‘WOOHOO‘ feeling. When I successfully feel into that future and it feels 100% real to me, I want to sing Song 2 by Blur. That ‘woohoo’ is my final anchoring of this splendiforous reality I’ve just created and feels like a super big, ‘YES!’ to the Universe.
  7. ‘All is well’. I like to end of my couch tripping with this affirmation, it always just feels right 🙂

Couch Manifesting: The Only Way to Dream Big!

I’ve been trying a new tactic using the Law of Attraction. Maybe I’m a little slow and you’ve already stumbled across this amazing way to manifest what you want. It’s what I like to call ‘Couch Manifesting’ and it’s as great as it sounds!

I tried this a few weeks ago when I was ill and ‘bed ridden’ and I never stopped doing it ’cause it worked so well. Read related article: How Learning the Art of Slowing Down Changed My Life

And…Action!

Straight off the cuff — I don’t want to confuse my sloth-like behavior with not taking action. Nothing could be further from the truth in my life. I want to appeal to those of you who have dreamed the dream, affirmed your backside off and taken copious amounts of action to get the ball rolling…but just don’t ever seem to catch that break — or you’re not catching that wave as often as you’d like to.

I’ve been there.

Couch manifesting is when you’ve put all the work in and you just want to sit back and feel those well-deserved rewards just being heaped on top of you.

No More Marketing Nightmares

I’m the kind of anal Virgo who doesn’t stop. Even when I’ve done all I can do, I’ll do even more and stress myself out to the brink of breakdown (I’m sure there are a lot of you who feel the same way). But not anymore…I’ve discovered couch manifesting!

The beauty about couch manifesting is that once you’ve taken the necessary steps to implement your goal — all you need to do is sit back, relax and daydream your result into fruition. You’re going to let the Universe take care of clients streaming in, great job offers clogging your inbox, suitors making house calls or whatever it is you’re trying to experience. Read related article: How to Effectively Slip Into Your Preferred Future

As I said before, I’ve done all the work, gone down the expensive road of advertising, pulled my hair out thinking ‘what more can I do?’ and ending up doing more and more or creating more and more…I felt like the Duracell bunny — just going on and on and on beating that drum!

My Battery Was Pooped

I had to get utterly grounded by the flu to take a closer look at what I was doing to myself.

Okay, what does Couch Manifesting entail? Let me give you my real life experience example:

  • The end of the month was looming, bills needed to be paid.
  • I sat on my comfy couch staring at the wall just repeating to myself, ‘I’ve sold 2 paintings and I’ve got money coming in from royalties too‘ (this seemed believable to me at the time).
  • I felt into that for about 10 minutes until I got to a point where it was real.
  • I relaxed a bit and felt my breathing ease up too — I got to the point where I was feeling my bank account looking healthy.
  • My body felt calm and totally at peace — hakuna matata style!
  • I was good, life was good, everything was goooood. All was well.
  • I started reading my book without feeling guilty or the need to ‘look busy’.

I kid you not. Within the hour — and this was so strange because of the instantaneous result — I got a payment notification. I was being paid for 2 paintings I sold last month that I didn’t know about via a local gallery I exhibit at! Then within half an hour I got an e-mail with a royalty payment…and then another royalty pay out a few hours later!

I’m sold on this.

Letting it Go

I’ve spent so long working my fingers to the bone to market myself, I’ve paid for so many adverts and courses, thought I should ‘do more’ to ‘achieve more’ when all I had to do was sit on my couch and daydream about the plethora of ways the Universe was going to bring more wealth to me with the least amount of effort.

I literally wrap myself over the knuckles when I slip back into thinking that I should be doing more and creating more when I’m simply not inspired to. I’m hard-wired to ‘look busy’ but it’s a habit that is dissolving quickly.

I’m not advocating that you don’t take more action — just do what you WANT to do, when it feels right, and not out of any DESPERATION. If you’ve done the work all you need to do is imagine the sh*t out of your success! You’ve got it already — believe it.

Switching From Random Creating to Intentional Creating

Intentional Creating

Okay, so I hear a lot of people saying that the Law of Attraction is bullsh*t. I get questions like:

  • How can I have attracted all that bad stuff from my past — I would never have wanted that?
  • How can I have brought that abusive relationship into my life — do you really think I wanted to be beaten black and blue?
  • Why do bad things happen to good people?

I certainly don’t claim to have all the answers. I can only share what I have learnt through my life experience and through other people’s life experiences and various other research material.

A Reality of All Possibilities

We live in a universe that is ever-expanding — a universe where all possibilities are available. Unfortunately, this means the good along with the bad.

It would certainly appear that we are living on a planet of free choice — where anything goes. We can play out any scenario we want. Some are doing a great job and are happy, some are merely plodding along and some are conjuring a negative or even evil reality.

Problem is, most of humanity doesn’t realize that they are powerful co-creators of their reality and get sucked into other peoples creations without conscious choice. What compounds this feeling of hopelessness is we have been programmed to just accept that life is unfair and we are powerless.

This is a lie.

Getting Sucked into a Bad Reality

I’ve seen some children sadly experience a lot of negativity early on in their lives. The unfortunate part is they just go with that flow and accept that this is the ‘norm’ and THE one reality (not realizing they’ve been drawn into someone else’s or a collective reality and that there are billions of different realities on planet Earth at any given moment).

We’re never taught at school about the Law of Attraction or what positively potent manifestors we are. We are molded by a society that is, let’s face it, inherently sick to the core.

So, these poor children keep on getting beaten down by life and keep attracting more and more negative experiences and unsavoury characters (not realizing that the LOA is attracting more like experiences). Childhood turns into teenage life and then, these innately beautiful souls, become adults with a very twisted sense of what ‘the norm’ is through no fault of their own.

Some even persuade themselves that all people are innately bad so it’s quite normal to have these bad apple friends and to do shocking things themselves.

We’ve Been Tricked!

We have been taught — almost from birth — that we are small, insignificant, powerless creatures who are subject to life just ‘happening’ to us. It’s no wonder that most people don’t realize that they are haphazardly drawing in random experiences when they are not aware of their innate strength.

This is why I think some people (and, yes, it’s usually the good ones) have some hectic experiences…but only up until the point where they can truly accept and believe 100% in the Divine co-creator that lives inside.

That’s where you can use the Law of Attraction to start altering your reality.

This is why I refrain from telling people they’ve attracted everything from their past into their life experience because it makes the person feel terribly bad about themselves. It is true, however, that the LOA is always at work — as it is impartial — and just keeps compounding the current emotions and feelings. However, it is counterproductive to accuse people of creating their past traumatic experiences when they could have had NO idea that they were creating their experience at the time.

As I said before, if you are not aware that you are in a universe that has a Law of Attraction — how can you possibly be responsible for what has happened to you?

In my opinion, you can only be responsible for how you CONTINUE to create from the point of awareness onward — in other words, when you learn about the LOA and are aware of how this energy works, then you are responsible for your life.

Using the Law of Attraction

Using the LOA isn’t a walk in the park at first — you’ve got to stick with the program and not get stuck in that powerlessness void that can sometimes creep in to test your beliefs. We all have our peaks and troughs and we all have to soldier through them.

Read related article: 5 Limiting Beliefs That Keep Us From Mastering The Law of Attraction

Just remember, you’ve got a multitude of layers that you’ve got to strip to get to your true source.

Becoming aware is not about sitting in the lotus position with a fat smile on your face and wafting above the clouds (although there’s nothing wrong with doing this periodically). You’ve still got to stick out 3D reality and this is the tricky part. The world isn’t going to change, it’s how YOU see the world and work with it that’s going to change your perception of reality and therefore alter your experience.

Other Considerations

Before I became aware of who I was (aka a Divine aspect of Source, just like you!) I also randomly created my reality — having some out-of-control experiences and some pretty good ones too. Point is, I was just going about my life letting reality happen to me (and sometimes getting caught up in other peoples drama too).

I know some people just hate the concept that when bad experiences happen to you, it’s there for a reason and helps you to grow. I’m sorry, but I happen to believe that there is much truth in this.

I’ve had some pretty traumatic things happen to me in my life that, in hindsight, I could eventually see the positive threads appear. It may have taken me upwards of 20 years to see the positive aspect, but they were there.

You’ve got to mine your experiences for the diamonds that so many just leave lying in the dirt.

I believe that if you can take a bad situation and grow from it, you will be able to help others cross the bridge with more integrity and understanding — and that’s nothing to be snuffed at.

Of course, many teachings also speak of karma and soul contracts which seem inconceivable to us experiencing the existential life — lessons we come in to accomplish in our lifetime. This is an area that only your soul knows and it is, for the most part, unprovable — it can be lumped into that ‘Great Mystery’. I suggest you never tell people that bad things are happening because they have a soul contract or a karmic debt — this is horribly presumptuous.

Another persons path is THEIR path and not for you to cast judgments on. All you should do is be supportive and gently remind them that they are powerful creators who are always divinely loved and supported if they choose to see and feel it.

Awareness and Choice — a Lethal Manifesting Recipe

All I know — for a fact — about my existence is that when I became aware of the Law of Attraction my life changed for the better.

I am still a student though and have my ups and downs — it’s not easy changing the program but I work at it every day. I’m still confronted with my own limiting beliefs but I know that the more I chip away at them, the more freedom and joy I experience.

Life’s a trip!

The other fact is that I know I always have choice. My choices impact my reality and I take full responsibility for my thoughts and actions (even when I’m being a slack manifestor). I accept that there is a Great Mystery to life and that I’m not always going to have the answers but I’ve made peace with that.

How to Effectively Slip Into Your Preferred Future

Watch the video HERE.

Don’t you find it annoying when you feel like you’re trying to manifest your butt off and nothing’s happening?

I’ve been doing a lot of research into why certain things show up in our lives and certain things feel like a real schlep to try and create.

Here were my findings:

  1. It’s easy to manifest something you’ve done before. If you’re a pro at say generating opportunity, you’re not going to have too much trouble falling with your derriere in a pile of butter quite regularly. Opportunities will seemingly run at you and you’re going to have to fob some off ’cause you can’t take on the world. This makes you feel great and confident but then you may be scratching your head when it comes to manifesting something else in your life — like love or friendship or the perfect house, etc.
  2. It’s ‘difficult’ to manifest something you think is rare or unbelievable. No matter how much you really, really, really want something — the more WANTING emphasizes the more you are lacking that very thing you are WANTING so bad. Catch 22. Ergo, what you are experiencing NOW (or in the past) is only going to perpetuate because it is what feels more believable to you (even though it is not what you desire). Unfortunately, that is where most of us get stuck.
  3. It’s even more difficult to manifest something you want when you are self-sabotaging your dream. This was my biggie. I only recently realized I was holding wealth at bay because of a limiting belief about tax becoming a nightmare (it seems really silly but it was a real hang up I had). I quickly alchemized it and sifted through the challenge of feeling good about paying my taxes (think of all those smooth roads you drive on or the emergency services at your finger tips). I ran into another block shortly after that: Last time I had a lump sum of money I felt lack (yip, insane right?!) because I didn’t have ‘enough’ for the house I wanted to buy. I was lucky enough to find the right house at the right price consequentially but still carried this false sense that having a lot of money was lacking somehow. Boy, did I alchemize THAT one quickly! Who would have thought that these weird little blocks lurked in the deep recesses of ones psyche? We are strange and complicated wee humus beans, aren’t we? Maybe your block may be that you don’t feel you deserve what you’re trying to create to which I urge you to read Do You Feel Worthless? 2 Reasons Why You Need to Love YOU.
  4. Creating the ‘future’ is actually quite fun. When you get your desire down to something nice and simple and you inject that into a visualization of the timeline you want to slip into, the only thing you actually have to do is pretend the crap out of it. Make believe is something we were pretty good at as children and it’s time to dust off the Superman cape as you don it to engage your super-powers of belief. That ‘future’ dream may not be as tangible as the present moment circumstance but the moment you form the first thought about it, it has become a potential. Your job is to feel into it even though it can’t be seen, touched or sensed yet — you’ve got to think like it’s happened, talk like it’s there and emotionally feel elated that you are such a powerful co-creator of reality! You’ve got to live like NOTHING IS LACKING (read related article: How to Find the Perfectly Balanced YOU Right Now).

Get pretending, folks.

The Secret Game That Brought My Soul Mate to Me

Soul Mate Header

The Sleeping Warrior by Cherie Roe Dirksen

Let’s Get the Mushy Stuff Over Quick

My hubby and I just celebrated being married for 21 years on the 8th August. We live and work together from home,  we’re also in a band together (if you’re curious George, you can check out our original music HERE, we call ourselves Templeton Universe) — so we’re literally together 24/7.

People ask us if we ever get sick of each other or fight a lot — absolutely not. We just ‘work’ — two little peas in a satisfied pod.

Before you reach for your vomit bag, let me get to the point…

I’m not trying to rub your nose in our love affair, I just wanted to point out something I recently discovered about why I managed to bag my soul mate so early on in life. I was 15 when we met at school and I was married to him by age 20 (I know I may have seemed young but when you know you just know).

But how did I manage to find love so quickly? Yeah, maybe it’s karma, kismet (read related article: Why Being Weird is Unusually Cool!) or something like that but it also had a hell of a lot to do with the Law of Attraction and being a little girl with her head in the clouds…let me explain:

Fake it to Make it

I was quite an intense child. I had a vivid imagination and a strong will. Every day I would come home from school and usually hop in the pool for about 5 hours (got to love living in Cape Town!) or play with my Barbie and Ken collection.

When I was in the pool I was always with my Cassanova (I was usually a mermaid and he was a heroic sailor or renegade pirate…Aaargh).

My imaginary knight in shining armour was always close by — any decision I made, it was with him at my side. I was a hopeless romantic even at the sprouting age of about 6/7 years old.

My Ken and Barbie play dates were always lovey-dovey encounters and romantic adventures, not surprising as I had my nose forever stuck in fairytales and Disney movies. I just couldn’t wait to be swept off my glass-slippered feet!

Point is, I imagined the jiggery-pokery out of this fictional divine man. I couldn’t wait to grow up and get married. This could have gone terribly wrong, of course, if I just married anyone who was willing but as luck (and the LOA) would have it, I met this Prince Charming and we were a match made in heaven (phew!).

Make Believe Like Never Before!

However, is my young romance so difficult to believe seeing that I spent most of my wee life injecting real feeling and emotion into this invisible Romeo? Does the Law of Attraction not state that in order to manifest our desire we have to pretend like we already have it?

Most of my childhood was spent pretending and soon Pinnochio became a real boy!

We were obviously excellent little fakers when we were tots and now that we’re all grown up and think we know everything we’ve lost our most important gift — make believe. You’ve got to be off your rocker if you think make believe is just a child’s game — it is very much a REAL game and it’s where all the magic happens.

You don’t have to agree with me, you can believe what you want…but what if?

Belief is just an agreement you’ve made about something so why not invite your inner child out to play some make believe. It could be fun 🙂 — oh, go on!

You May Be Doing Serious Damage to Your Success By Doing This One Thing

Swimming to Success

Getting to That Artichoke Heart

I’ve been actively using the Law of Attraction since I read The Secret (and many other books consequentially) around a decade ago. I’ve had great success with it.

Conquering my limiting beliefs has been a difficult task but a worthwhile one (and I’m still working on them). Scraping away beliefs that don’t serve you is vital on your path to realizing your fullest potential.

If you don’t think you have limiting beliefs, you’re kidding yourself. Even when you think you’ve completely alchemized all your limitations you still find them lurking in the corners disguised as a helpful lampshade or a harmless googly-eyed spider.

A belief is just a flexible agreement at any given time — beliefs can be changed at will and they do not constitute absolute truth. When you can fully get that, you will be well on your way to creating new beliefs that serve you. It will be easier to toss those beliefs that are worn out and don’t make much sense anymore.

The Dirty, Little ‘C’ Word

Now, let me tell you about one of my major realizations — the one thing that prolonged a lot of my success. The belief that I had to control everything. I was an absolute, unequivocal control freak. I needed to be in the drivers seat with every minute detail of everything! I knew it was my greatest downfall but it was so hard to stop.

I know I’m not the only one facing control issues.

Thing is, control is the very thing that can lead you further and further away from your success. It’s a hard pill to swallow because we think that being in control leads to success but nothing could be farther from the truth.

Having control is not a bad thing (as in having discipline) but having to control every little nuance can leave you not only worn out but frustratingly no closer to your desires.

How to Replace Control with the ‘T’ Word

What I’ve learnt on my LOA journey is that you’ve got to have that initial ‘thought’ or ‘desire’, then you’ve got to inject that desire with feeling (i.e. make as if it’s yours NOW), lastly you must take the required action. The latter is where I think I got seriously stuck in control.

Taking action does not mean you must control every aspect of your desire.

Taking effective action means that you do what needs to be done (for example: if your desire is to open an online craft store, you need to physically do what is necessary to get it up and running) and then you’re going to follow those little synchronicities that will bring you the right opportunities and people with the least effort. Read related article: Why Synchronicity Can Change Your Life

If you believe that your business is going to thrive and you can walk around with a heart full of joy because you Trust that the Universe is doing its utmost to bring you more business, you’re going to thrive. You don’t even need to advertise.

I promise you, I’ve spent hundreds on advertising and have got little results. I have also tried the law of least effort and have spent time in nature enjoying myself and doing other things that bring me joy all while telling myself that my online business is getting more and more clients and — voila — that has worked better for me than throwing money at Facebook Ads!

The trouble (or rather the solution) is you really have to mine those limiting beliefs and banish control to bring in more Trust.

Trust that God/the Universe/the Force (or whatever else you want to call it) has your back and you are working with that energy to bring you into a state of joy, abundance and balance. You are perfectly aligned with Source and you are manifesting like a pro!

Flick the switch and give yourself permission to allow that etheric help to flow into your life. Believe that it’s working (just remember if you don’t believe it will work then it won’t — belief is your permission slip to get to where you want).

Let it Go

Trying to control everything is exhausting — do what you can to get yourself ‘out there’ and then relinquish that control. Give it over. Then your only job is to be in joy. Do things that make you uber happy. It’s as simple as that and it’s loads of fun!

When your vibration is high and you are laughing and having fun, you will be in the frequency where magic happens!

Positive Thoughts Work

Positive Thoughts Work

Twin Peaks, Mary Poppins and Eyes Wide Shut

I’ve recently been ill, I’ve been in bed for almost 2 weeks. When I was going through my bouts of fevers and chills, hacking coughing spells and razor-blade throat issues, I was pretty delirious most of the time. In that David Lynch state of mind, I was having some pretty wicked hallucinations (not of the cool variety). I was terrified of the impending night when all these ghouls and goblins of my psyche would come out to play.

It’s really hard to transform into Julie Andrews and let that spoonful of sugar melt away the blues when you feel like you’re seeing the other side of your face.

However, (and, yes, there is a point to all of this) I managed to draw on some of my sense one night when I was having a particularly bad time being stuck in a twilight zone hallucination that saw me playing out all of Stanley Kubrick’s movies at once (terrifying, I know!). I managed to think to myself, ‘surely, I can stop this and redirect it to something more pleasant?’.

Take Back Control

I was thinking: if we’re stuck (especially in these darkest, sickest, most painful moments which, unfortunately, tend to steer us to focus on misery and not mercy) in a place that seems like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel and we can use our power of positivity rather than above-mentioned misery to dictate — then why not give it a go? Read related article: Proof Positive: Our Thoughts, Emotions Affect our Physiological Health

Okay, back to my long-winded point: I tried it out. It worked! I was wet with a fever but I still managed to switch the Kubrick movie-thon to a really cool place where I became more calm, peaceful and it was awesome even though I was stupidly sick.

How did I do it?

  • I put on some music I found on YouTube (nice soothing, calming delta waves with night-time creepy crawly sounds – frogs, crickets, owls, etc). It was on very softly but it almost immediately grounded me and I felt more relaxed.
  • The music soothed me so much that even my pain seemed to lessen and I could focus, if not briefly, on a more positive thought stream. In this case, I just focused on the relaxation and peace I was feeling. I actually managed to get some sleep that night after being up for 5 nights!
  • I kept on saying out loud or to myself during the course of the day, ‘All is well’. ‘This too shall pass’ can also come in handy.
  • My frame of mind went from a ‘poor panicked me’ (thinking I was about to die) to a more optimistic package of phlegm that knew this was going to be alright.

It’s hard to dig yourself out of a pit when you’re in one, trust me I know, but just one good feeling thought can help you to cope. I’m not saying that for the next week of my illness I was singing ‘Kumbaya’ but my state of mind was much better.

Just give yourself a chance — one positive thought seed is all it takes.

How to Find the Perfectly Balanced YOU Right Now

Radiate the Love you Are

“When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everyone will respect you.”
― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

The Bittersweet Dischord

How cool are we as a species? We have such resilience — we are like elastic bands trying to conform, contort and snap ourselves to fit the mold (whatever that mold may be).

We have the ability to take on a million different things in order to chase perfection, love, money, respect, happiness and a gazillion other things we think we need and don’t have. Most of these things boil down to the giving and receiving of love. We all want to be loved and accepted.

We can do this until we find ourselves six feet under.

The simple fact is that we’ve lost the plot.

We’ve totally lost the plot.

Hell, I don’t even think we ever really knew what the storyboard was in the first place. We just know we are characters with a job to do. We’re born and immediately we start conforming to the standards society sets.

Do you ever stop to ask yourself why you continue a tradition that was never yours?

So many of us are taught from an early age to hate certain religions, cultures and generally people who don’t conform to our version of ‘right’.

Simply put: We’re living in a pre-constructed world set up to someone else’s ideals. Strange, isn’t it? But most of us never seem to question it.

Love’s the Greatest Thing That We Have

If love is the end result to most of our strenuous efforts then I have good news for you. You ARE love.

The other great thing is, there is no need to give or receive it — you just ARE it. You are pure love incarnation.

Think of the sun. It shines all the time. It doesn’t give it’s light away — it just IS light. You don’t have to receive the light or stand in line to get at it (unless you’re in an airport trying to escape to Spain for a hotter climate)…you just decide to either stand in its brilliance and absorb the light or hide in a cave and not accept the warmth.

Love is the same.

Love is all around us all the time. Love is in us. We are love itself. Pure vessels of unconditional love who are experiencing a bit of temporary amnesia.

If we just accepted the love source that we are and stand in that power — radiate that shit all day — we would be emulating the Tao Te Ching quote from the top of this article.

The other amazing benefit of realizing that you are just pure love itself is that It feels good to just stand for love. To just love love love with a dash more love. Even when people are being assholes — just love the crap out of them (oh pun definitely intended!).

You don’t have to do it in an airy-fairy, pooping candy floss kind of way — you’re totally in control of how you choose to give the love. It may just be in the form of non-retaliation  — as in, if a person is truly hitting all your buttons try to remain calm and present and send them love without them even knowing (although they are bound to feel it or at least the lack of your retaliation energy).

The love energy just naturally draws out the love energy of another. Most of the time, the other person won’t know what’s hit them. They may not quite understand what’s going on but they will feel an energetic shift. It may even aggravate them (as they resist the unfamiliar reaction) but you just stand in your truth and eventually there will be no resistance.

I’m not saying they’re going to pull a Mother Theresa on you instantly — most likely not, but you will have made an energetic shift in the relationship/encounter.

Unicorns, Fluffy Bunnies and Cotton Candy…A Final Say in the Matter

Simply be yourself. Allow yourself to shine love out like the sun — to be that pure love source and just see how your life changes (and those you interact with).

Love the amazing being that you are (read related article Do You Feel Worthless? 2 Reasons Why You Need to Love YOU) — an amazing creation of the Divine. You are Divine love itself, how cool is that? All that other stuff is just a complete ball-faced lie — an illusion that’s had us hoodwinked for centuries.

Have a good laugh at all the things you thought were real but just aren’t a part of the real plot. The real plot is accepting your delicious God-self and standing in perfect alignment with love — the only thing that is true and worthy of any good plot.

No trying to love, no giving love, no receiving love — just BEING love itself. Shine on you crazy diamond!

8 ‘Alice’ Quotes That are Profoundly Spiritual

Alice

I grew up on the Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass books and have an almost voracious appetite for Lewis Carroll’s wit and insanely insatiable wisdom. I know I’m not alone in my fondness for all things rabbit-holy (pun emphatically intended!).

So, let’s tumble into Wonderland with some provocatively crazy quotes from Alice’s adventures that can actually shed some clarity on our insane existence:

  1. “Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” This has got to be my favorite ’cause it implies that you create completely outside of the box. This is ‘get your ass out of the matrix’ kind of thinking and I like it! Read related article: 6 Impossible Things To Do Every Day
  2. “If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn’t be. And what it wouldn’t be, it would. You see?” Oh wow, isn’t this a cracker? It’s really getting out of your own way and stepping out of duality. Read related articles: Don’t Be a Slave to Duality and Why Nothing Actually Matters.
  3. “If everybody minded their own business, the world would go around a great deal faster than it does.” This one is self explanatory and has a lot to do with ego-trappings and nasty judgments. Let other people get on with their lives and you get on with yours. Read related article: 4 Reasons to Entice You to Quit Drama
  4. “Alice:How long is forever? White Rabbit:Sometimes, just one second.” Time is relative, let’s face it. And, sometimes, when we are with our relatives one second could be a lifetime 😉 Read related article: Dangerous Illusions: Why Time Should Be Replaced
  5. “Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?
The Cheshire Cat: That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.
Alice: I don’t much care where.
The Cheshire Cat: Then it doesn’t much matter which way you go.
Alice: …So long as I get somewhere.
The Cheshire Cat: Oh, you’re sure to do that, if only you walk long enough.” To me, this wreaks of not being in the drivers seat. In other words, not taking responsibility for creating your life and just letting life happen to you. Read related article: 1 Resounding Block That Prevents People From Realizing Their Destiny — Are You Feeling It?
  6. “I knew who I was this morning, but I’ve changed a few times since then.” This is classic. We are constantly zipping in and out of parallel dimensions and becoming completely new people literally billions of times a day (or something like that). Every new thought/decision we make creates a new timeline and a new you.
  7. “We’re all mad here.”  And if you argue with this you are clinically insane! lol…it was Eckhart Tolle who said we are ‘living in an insane society’ and I tend to agree wholeheartedly with him.
  8. ‘Curiouser and curiouser’ This invokes the inner child to come out and play. Take time to stop and smell the roses, gaze at a rainbow, engage in conversation with strangers (if you’re old enough) and take the road less traveled — curiosity is what opens up possibility.

Well, that’s it for now. I hope you enjoyed these quotes as much as I enjoyed compiling them! If you have a favorite, please let me know in the comments below. If I’ve skipped your favorite quote, please also feel free to copy and paste it into the comment section — I’d love to hear from you!

Have Your Devices Got You Hooked?

Wifi

The New Age of Technology — A Worldwide WiFi Hook

Funky little humans everywhere are glued to their smartphones, scrolling through their endless feeds via iPads or trapped behind a computer screen — giving little to no thought about any damage they are doing to themselves.

I understand that most people have to be hooked to an electronic device in the workplace but how many of you reattach yourself when you get home?

God knows I’m not mocking the age of tech because that’s where I do most of my business and it’s a great place to socialize and stay in touch with people.

However, it got to a point in my own life where I felt it was taking over (more about what I did to remedy this later).

Getting Down to the Nitty Gritty

Do you find yourself checking your phone every 2 minutes? If the answer is yes, then you need to seriously rethink your habits.

Why? Because…

  • We still don’t know the ramifications of WiFi — what is it doing to our electromagnetic field or our physical bodies (much like the craze of microwave ovens when they came out — we were told they were ‘safe’ but now we are starting to think, ‘hey, wait a minute — aren’t we nuking our already nutrient deficient food?’ Read related article: Microwave Oven Facts: Why You Will Never Want To Use Yours Again)
  • They are killing our physical social networking abilities. You’ve probably seen those facebook memes where everyone is sitting together around a table but stuck to their phone screens, right? Even when we get together with one another our attention gets diverted. If you’re with people in the flesh (as in they have taken the time out to be with you, please don’t whip out your phone every time you hear the whatsapp call…not unless your neighbour is looking after your sick cat or your child is in mortal danger. Turn your unimportant apps to silent — it’s polite).
  • It’s wasting our God-given valuable time and turning our brains to zombie moosh! Look, it’s just not healthy for mind, body or spirit to be a prisoner to the cyber world. Think about it — we are social creatures who are highly creative. Funneling all your energy into a metal device is lunacy. How many pics of your friends children do you want to see? How many photo’s of meals can you handle? How many mundane status updates are you gagging for? If you truly mull over this, you’ll see just how much time you may be wasting — but let’s get to the good news…

You can do something about it.

Even if your livelihood depends on it, there are still remedies and precautions you can take to lessen the impact of WiFi on your life and body.

Take it From a Net Junky

Here’s what I do to counterbalance the influx and urges of the mighty net:

  • I limit my time on the internet/computer. If you are sitting behind a computer all day for job related purposes, make sure you take frequent breaks. Get up and stretch. Go for a short walk around the office or, even better yet, outside if you can. If you don’t rely solely on a computer for work — try to curb your time on it. For example: I set a limit of 2 hours if I have to use the computer. In the past, I’d do my business and then go scrolling around various social networking sites that have tractor beams drawing you in for a good 2-3 hours…next thing, gone is your day!
  • I restrict myself when checking my phone and set a curfew of 5pm where I put my phone away. I now check my phone about 1-2 times a day. I dictate to it, it doesn’t dictate to me!
  • I never leave my phone next to my bed. Both my husband and I used to scroll for at least an hour before bedtime and then wake up and do the same thing! It’s a total mood killer, nevermind being a rather rude and exclusive practice. We used to giggle and chat to each other before (we would even throw in a game or two of paper, rock, scissors) and now we look at other peoples lives via cyber waves — I mean what’s wrong with the picture here??? I decided that my marriage was far more worthy of my time then my smartphone.
  • I am quite verbal when I’m with friends who excavate their phones at every beep. I tell them I think it’s rude. There’s no shame in voicing your opinion if it grates you and maybe it will even help them to re-tune to social etiquette. It’s so become the norm nowadays that most civil people don’t even know what they’re doing is bad manners — no harm in letting them know, right?

What you can do instead:

  • Go outside and walk barefoot on the Earth — ground yourself. Listen to the birds singing, watch the trees swaying in the breeze. Do nature things! We are happiest when we are outdoors. That’s where creative incitement lies.
  • Read a book
  • Play games with the family (or paper, rock, scissors with your partner)
  • Hug a pet
  • Do some colour therapy (see related article:A Creative Way to Relieve Stress — How You Can Benefit From Color Therapy Today!)
  • Paint/craft/create
  • Listen to music and have a good dance
  • Do some yoga that you’ve been threatening to do for ages
  • Meditate
  • Learn a new skill
  • Make a bonfire and tell your family stories around it
  • Cook a good, healthy meal (and get the kids involved!)
  • Soak in a relaxing bath
  • Go for a walk and get the blood moving (don’t forget to take the pooch with you)
  • Think good thoughts…do some affirmations for a healthy, happy life
  • Garden

Whatever it is that gets you going — do that! The internet has been an amazing creation but let’s not let it take over our lives. Apportion it with balance and get on with the important things in life like love, family, creativity and joy.

Don’t Be a Slave to Duality

Don't be a slave to duality

“When people see some things as beautiful,
other things become ugly.
When people see some things as good,
other things become bad.”

Lao Tzu (Tao Te Ching

We seem to be tethered to duality because we live in a polarized paradigm. However, we don’t have to let it rule our lives, not anymore — becoming the non-judgmental observer of reality will help you to better understand the sometimes dichotomous nature of duality.

I touched on the concept of ‘stepping out of the matrix’ and viewing this life from a perspective of neutrality in my article last week, which you can read here:  How to Become the Observer of Reality.

This week I wanted to delve a little more deeply into the duplicity of judgment vs. non-judgment and what a brave new world we could create if we start to really get it and, better still, implement it in our lives.

Duplicity is the state of being double. As in the Lao Tzu teaching above, we can see that if we judge something as good, it means that what does not live up to your perceived version of good becomes bad.

For example: You decide that you will not eat bread anymore. Bread is bad. Other people who eat bread must be unhealthy. Every time you see someone having a sandwich, you feel really great that you have the willpower to resist the dreaded dough and you pity them for being so weak. Maybe you even mention to them that they should not be eating bread and you launch into all the reasons why the bread is bad.

A few weeks ago you thought bread was great but now you have made a judgment and bread is the enemy.

There is nothing wrong with exercising a culinary preference. You can chop and change your mind whenever you feel the wind blow up your britches. There is no judgment in that.  The judgment (and ego) comes into play when you make your decision right and others wrong.

For all you know the sandwich — that fellow, sitting on the bench next to you at lunchtime, was eating — could have been made by naked vestal virgins with the finest manna heaven could spare, baked with love and may be the very source of nourishment that he needed at that specific time.

The Trap and the Solution

I guess what I’m trying to say is that the moment you pin something as good or bad, ugly or beautiful, right or wrong, you become trapped in a box with both.

You can’t have one without noticing the presence of the other.

This is where a lot of people fall into the Law of Attraction trap. The more they fixate on what they want, the more they start thinking about the polar opposite (which is usually the more powerful emotion as it’s the very thing they really don’t want but are investing all their doubts and feelings into).

Have you ever noticed how fanatical religious people very rarely go on about the love, compassion and forgiveness of God? No, they tend to talk about all that is evil and demonic — hell and damnation (and before I get loads of angry comments — I’m certainly not painting every religious person with this brush, I know there are exceptions).

It seems to me that the more you like something, the more it’s ‘opposite’ hangs on for the ride too.

The solution is to just let things be without labeling them.

Opening the Door

The Tao (or great mystery/intelligent design/Universe, etc) is impartial and the flavor added to our life experience is conjured up in your kitchen. It’s beautiful to experience life just as it is — no strings attached.

You will naturally let things, people or situations that please you in if you open the door to pleasant experiences by keeping a joyful vibration going. The rest will find you. There is no need to label anything as good or bad, you have no idea what the bigger picture of life is and most of us don’t stick around until the muddy water becomes clear (another Lao Tzu gem).

If we did, we’d probably see that what you initially wanted to judge as ‘bad’ was just something that needed to transpire for something ‘good’ to come out of it. Why not save yourself a heap of trouble and just not judge things period.

Boy, what a fantastic, peaceful world we’d have if that was the case! Following the path of least resistance (resistance in this case being the ability not to be affected by something, especially adversely) is where you’ll find your cache of happy.

4 Programs That Lead to Blocked Abundance — How Many Are You Running?

Shit Header

The Ultimate Enema

Even the most dedicated Law of Attraction students run into walls that seem insurmountable. There are programs that lurk in the darkest recesses that need cache clearing. Holding onto these ‘junk’ programs will only constipate the flow of positive energy into your life.

Here are, what I like to call, the SHIT programs:

  • S — ‘S’ is for ‘shit happens‘ (a common but deadly troublesome software program) and the belief that life isn’t fair. The rich get richer and the poor suffer. Read related article: The Key to Success That May Surprise You (It Surprised Me!)
  • H — ‘H’ is for ‘humility’…or in this case misplaced humility. This kind of humility blocks us in receiving because it thinks it’s rude or embarrassing to receive help or, God forbid, to ask for it. This form of humility must decline such perceived ‘charity’ or ‘pity’. A program with lonely and bleak consequences.
  • I — ‘I’ is for ‘I’m not worthy’. This is the virus of the system and it’s total bollocks (an anagram of ‘ol blocks).
  • T — ‘T’ is for ‘try’. Yoda had it right, folks. To try is a woolly verb that really just implies more ‘trying’. Try, for me, is getting on a merry-go-round and expecting to go somewhere. Trying is the firewall program that blocks out actual DOING. It’s the ‘I might Be’ equivalent of the ‘I AM’ statement.

Right, so that spells out ‘SHIT’ (I’m always trying to justify my impish need to swear in respectable articles). Now let’s turn this around, shall we? Let’s delve into some deep S.H.I.T.

  • ‘S’ could rather stand for ‘satisfaction‘ (perhaps the Stones were running the ‘Shit Happens’ program when they wrote that they couldn’t get any?). Let’s turn ‘life isn’t fair’ into the reality of the program which is: Life is. It just is — you assign it meaning. So, why not see it as completely stupendous? Run the program that life is so stunningly satisfying that every corner you take there’s something there to make it even MORE satisfactory. Isn’t it just an awesome energy to be in — that of utter contentment and fulfillment? Don’t take my word for it, give it a bash and see if it works better than the ‘shit happens’ program.
  • ‘H’ could rather be used for ‘Hallelujah!’ — kick the hampering kind of humility to the curb! If you’re in a pickle and someone can help you (and preferably if the help is genuine and heart-based) let them! When you deny the energy of accepting you deny the other person the gift of giving. You’ll have your chance to pay it forward when the energy is right, so, accept graciously and stop blocking the abundance energy from flowing into and out through you. Read related article: How to Put the “Believe” in “Ask, Believe, Receive!”
  • ‘I’ can be tweaked just a tad to ‘I am worthy‘ — ’cause let’s face it, everybody is! You’re all divine little sausages (even the vegetarians! Yes, you too are meat encased in skin whether you like it or not). Embrace your divinity (I actually wrote a book about this called, Divine You which really goes into why I think you’re God). You are SO worthy because you are SO God, God is in You (even the religious can’t deny it if God is truly omnipotent)!
  • ‘T’ can translate to ‘transform‘ rather than try. You can change tracks any timeSUBSCRIBE icon 1 you like by taking the reigns of your God-given sovereignty and stepping into empowered responsibility for your thoughts and actions. Being resolute is the new sexy.

I can safely say that this has been an undeniably S.H.I.T. article.

When we try to experience the frequency referred to as gratitude, we’re told to be thankful for the roof over our heads, the food in our fridge, the clothes on our back, etc. — which is, no doubt, a great practice and a good place to start when we’re trying to raise our vibration.

5 Senses to Boost Your Gratitude

I was watching a movie the other day about a guy with severe impaired eyesight (as in saw only blobs of shapes and colour). It really got me to see gratitude from a different perspective.

Yeah, I know most of us say we’re truly grateful for everything in our lives — but do we really get how lucky we are?

We have 5 incredible senses that gift us with pleasure, delight and beauty every day! Even one of these senses is a huge blessing. Just try to:

  1. Imagine not being able to see — we take so much for-granted it’s insane.
  2. Imagine not ever hearing music again.
  3. Imagine not being able to taste chocolate. Read related article: Giving Life Meaning Through Cake
  4. Imagine not being able to experience the luxury of a nice hot bath or…no, let’s keep this clean ;).
  5. Imagine not being able to smell the sweet aroma of jasmine or coffee brewing.

Now, if you do have all (or most of) these senses available to you daily…which I’m guessing you do — you have incredible divine gifts to experience this third dimensional reality with. Read related article: Conquering Blocks Leads to Bold Brave Living

Gratitude is right there — immense gratitude. The sheer value of these senses boggles the mind. If you’re having a hard time trying to align with heart-felt gratitude, try meditating on all of your senses and how much pleasure they give you on a daily basis.

I’ll guarantee you’re going to literally see life in a totally different way — through a heart full of gratitude for what has always been there.

Building Blocks and Other Fun Stuff

Raising your vibration to attract general joy and excitement is all good and fine but there’s no denying that you’re going to run into a ton of limiting beliefs on your journey to living your best life.

The Law of Attraction is awesome and it works, peeps, but these sneaky little buggers called ‘limiting beliefs’ (LB’s for short) have to come to the surface for clearing whether you like it or not.

“Every time you face this kind of threshold guardian, know that it’s your right of passage to a system upgrade.”

We have to walk through them if we’re going to be the responsible co-creators of our reality.

Breaking the LB Codex

These invisible walls, responsible for our bloody noses and bruised foreheads, try to highlight LB’s that we’ve taken on and agreed to. So, why not view them as huge reality-shifting friends rather than foes?

Just remember, everything we think is usually rooted in some belief or another. You can change these beliefs any time you want to. It’s called choice and free-will. You are a creator and you can re-create time and time again — there’s no limitation but the one you have set for yourself.

When you face these issues head on you can start to dissolve the BS you’ve agreed to in the past and change tracks to a brighter less inhibited future. The universe definitely has your back, so try that belief on for size!

There are 3 things you should bear in mind when tackling LB’s — greet them with:

  1. copious amounts of self love (and general love),
  2. forgiveness (to yourself and others) and
  3. excitement as to what awaits you on the other side of your limiting belief (hint: it’s usually magic).

The Good News is…

These LB’s usually come at us when we’re about to make a massive breakthrough. So, that’s fab news, right?

We can start viewing our hurdles as lucky-frigging-charms! “Oh look, I’ve hit a block…crack open the champagne, darling!!!

I’ve been in a bit of a funk recently and I had some of my awesome CLN colleagues put perspective to my woes in a recent chat we all had. I highly recommend — when facing your little LB demons — talking about it to your tribe.

It’s really important to find like-minded people/groups/chat-rooms where you can get some real compassionate support. I know a lot of people have a hard time finding people who are on their wave-length (to put it mildly) but a plethora of support is out there if you set an intention to find it/them.

Everyone needs an ear every now and then and — even if you don’t feel like airing your troubles — you never know who may have the key to unlock a problem you’re facing.

Eruptions and Clearings

After I had my ‘a-ha’ moment, my limiting belief literally surfaced. Now comes the clearing — but first…

Let me tell you a funny and rather embarrassing personal truth of mine: When I walk through these LB blocks I usually break out into spots/hives/volcanic eruptions on my face — this time I even got an ulcer on the inside of my mouth — instantly! My husband took one look at me and said, ‘Ah, you’re clearing something?‘.

Believe it or not, the moment I ‘let it go‘ (as in bawled my eyes out) they disappeared in a flash. How cool is that? Aren’t we super-freaky, cool human beans? Everyone is going to work it out in different ways, of course. Not everyone has to go all red, blotchy and utterly unattractive. However, I embrace this weird quirk of mine ’cause I know it’s paradigm shifting shit going down every time it happens — WOOHOO and YIPPEE-YA-YAY!

Every time you face this kind of threshold guardian, know that it’s your right of passage to a system upgrade. Face it with courage and bravery and you’re going to be your own knight in shining armor.

2 Dances You’re Going to Want to Learn Today to Manifest Like a Pro

Manifest Your Bliss

Straight off the cuff, the 2 dances I’m going to step around are avoidance and abundance. Let’s take a slightly different look at these 2 interesting jigs:

Dance no. 1 — The Void Dance

According to Bashar (an entity — channeled through Darryl Anka — whose favorite element happens to be ‘the void’), we don’t need to — in essence — ‘attract’ anything into our lives because everything we could want already exists.

Everything we could ever think of doing is being played out in parallel dimensions, it’s just our job to ‘tune’ into the vibrational match or frequency of what we want/that which brings us the most excitement.

Seeing as we are all creator gods, we don’t need to do anything but hone our vibration to change tracks. To do this, you need to: Believe, think and feel what it is you want AND, to add my twist, engage in avoidance (but not in the way you may think!).

The only thing KEEPING us from experiencing that which we want is the layers of limiting beliefs we’ve clogged our auric airwaves with. So, avoidance could be really useful when using it to samba from a completely different perspective.

The dictionary definition of the word ‘avoidance‘ is:

  1. The action of keeping away from or not doing something. — in this case, deflect limiting beliefs and keep them away from your frequency! Tell those limiting beliefs to take a hike — don’t buy into them anymore!
  2. The action of repudiating, nullifying, or rendering void a decree or contract. — in this case, render your limiting belief contracts null and void! Everything is neutral (void) until YOU give it meaning.

Taking a fresh look at the word avoidance (in the above sense) is a good way to exercise your right to keep away the limiting beliefs and to cancel your subscription tot hem. Do this and let the natural state of being — joy — radiate through!

Perspective is key. This does NOT give you a permission slip to avoid the important things like taking action, looking out for synchronicity and getting clear on your thoughts and feelings!!! Read related article: Why Synchronicity Can Change Your Life

How to Tango in the Void

In the Tao Te Ching you can use the Tao any way you want — it is empty but inexhaustible (sounds like the void, right?). What is the Tao? In Chinese philosophy, it is the absolute principle underlying the universe. It is a combination of yin and yang and signifies the way that is in harmony with the natural order.

Is it hard to use the void? No. Here’s how you can make a start:

  • Align with your thoughts and emotions. Thoughts injected with feeling create everything in the universe. What are you thinking about the most? What emotions are you broadcasting? Be completely honest with yourself. Can you see how you are consciously or unconsciously bringing about manifestations in your life that are aligning with what you think/feel the most about? Okay, most of you probably know this point by now — it’s ‘old school’ stuff — but it’s seriously important and here’s why: Manifesting has become increasingly more instantaneous! It’s actually pretty cool.  I think it’s a result of the ‘quickening’ or ‘awakening’ (or whatever else you want to call it) but, holy crap, my hombre — things are heating up in that void of creation!
  • Manifest wisely. Instant manifestation can be dangerous for some and great for others. This is why getting clear with what your mind is preoccupied with is of the utmost significance now. We’re in a potent manifesting energy, where you are going to have things pop up with much more speed than before — the good, the bad and the darn-right ugly. Sometimes what we think we want could be contrary to what our soul really wants. Keep fine tuning your dial.
  • Use the void as your clean slate. What does this mean? Get clear today — hell, right now — on what you want to see unfold. What you’re thinking and projecting now is going to be featuring in those up and coming NOW moments that we refer to as ‘the future’. Be specific, write it down, read it out every morning and take action where you can. Detach from the outcome (let go and don’t try to control how it happens) and watch out for synchronicities that will guide you to achieve your greatest potential/bliss or whatever you came here to experience with great enthusiasm and excitement (read more about that HERE). Most people don’t even know what they want to manifest so they just leave it to fate. Wake up call! Fate, if you like, is you unconsciously manifesting whatever you’re thinking about the most! So you can become a conscious co-creator of your reality or you can subject your life to your random and vague inner dialogue. Read related article about why life is actually meaningless until you inject it with meaning here: The Key to Success That May Surprise You (It Surprised Me!)

Fluff up your life by dancing in that void and expressing your bliss.

Are You Good at Manifesting Nothing?

The biggest trouble I’m seeing at the moment is people who say that nothing is manifesting in their life. Wrong! If this is you, you are absolutely manifesting more ‘void’ when you say or think that ‘nothing’ is happening. You’re stuck in neutral! Shift into gear and step on that accelerator!

Try a little patience and mining your feelings real deep for any lurking saboteurs — those critters can get into every crack imaginable!

You can’t move forward if you’ve got baggage weighing you down (aka limiting beliefs — just remember EVERYTHING is a belief, you get to choose which ones you keep or toss). We’ve all got to do a bit (or lot) of introspection before our manifestations really take off.

Dance no. 2 — The Bun Dance

‘Bun’ dancing (shaking that booty!) is just a great by-product of void dancing…yip, you guessed it, it’s ABUNDANCE — your innate state of being.

When you scrape off all those repugnant limiting beliefs and shine on like a shaft of gold when all around is dark — then you will step into your abundance. Abundance is getting whatever you need when you need it — pretty cool, right?

Wiggle that arse and start a flash-mob-a-bun-dance!

That’s it for today, folks. It was a bit of an abstract article but hopefully it will offer a different perspective to ponder.

Crazy lady over and out.

Why is “Meaning” so Important?

Let’s Bake a Cake

Say you fancy making something sweet for yourself — a real treat. You get in that kitchen and you start mixing up a storm — you’ve got your self-raising flour, eggs, milk, butter, vanilla and they’re blending with ease.

You set your oven to heat up to the correct temperature to cook your delicious cake. You’re almost about to slip that cake into the cooker when you remember you didn’t add the sugar to your mixture! What a disaster that would’ve been?!

You march over to the sugar container but you hesitate. Maybe you should rather put salt in?

You stand over the sugar and salt debating which one to use and you decide to add the salt.

Seems ludicrous, doesn’t it?

Salt Gets a Bad Wrap, Metaphorically Speaking

  • Without the sugar in the cake, the cake would have been rather bland or neutral in taste, right?
  • If you’d substituted salt with the sugar, the cake would’ve been inedible.
  • With the right amount of sugar, you would’ve been enjoying your confection on the porch right this minute with a nice cup of tea.

This is an allegory for life being neutral/meaningless until you give it meaning (sugar/salt).

SmartSelectImage_2021-01-04-13-24-17Often people dream of achieving something (baking a cake) and then inject their desire with negativity (salt) instead of optimism and feelings of elation (sugar). It seems like a no-brainer that if you’re trying to manifest something, the last thing you want to do is project all the things that are wrong, could go wrong or have gone wrong in the past.

Well, not unless you want things to go horribly wrong.

Adding salt to your cake batter sounds ridiculous but we are doing it all the time in the culinary school of life.

Next time you’re thinking of baking a cake (or cooking up a dream), don’t forget to coat it with sugar! Feelings of love, mirth, elation, delight, optimism, bliss and surety will bring you the sweetest tasting experience.  It’s your job to follow the recipe.

The Key to Success That May Surprise You (It Surprised Me!)

Success and Epiphanies

A few weeks ago I wrote an article about an a-ha moment I had with a background program I was running. The program was, ‘life isn’t fair’.

In the article I explained my discovery that life is neutral until you give it meaning (for instance: Life just is. Then you give it meaning: Life is/isn’t fair — your choice!). You can read that article here: How to Nuke Limiting Beliefs

The moment I zero-pointed that energy and reset it (as in: sat in meditation and worked my emotions back to 0 — ‘life just is’ — then juiced up my reality to read, ‘Life is fair’), things started to change rapidly.

New Program Deletion

In the days that followed, I began to realize I had other programs running. I felt it but didn’t know what they were. I knew it had to do with…ta-daaa….money — that old humdinger of a limiting belief that keeps on rearing its shiny head.

I asked the quantum field (what I like to call ‘the force’, ‘the matrix’, ‘God’ or whatever else floats your boat) to show me the block. It did — through a Bashar channel.

He/them/they (Bashar) said (and I paraphrase): you must never sell your ‘product’, you must sell yourself — your passion. Whatever excited you do it in the first place.

Deafening Alarm Bells Going Off

I was so guilty of this! I try to sell my ‘product’ (which can mean anything from services to actual things) — I just assumed that was how it’s done.

So, for instance, if you’ve painted a beautiful picture and it represents something you’re passionate about (say you’re in love with nature and you expressed your admiration through paint), the painting will sell itself. All you have to do is sell your passion.

  • Key to SuccessPromote why you painted it, inject it with fluff. Fluff is about YOU. Sell who YOU are. You’re the unique thing on this planet, and that will reflect in your work or ‘product’.
  • Be yourself — it’s that simple.
  • Give immense amounts of gratitude to that quantum field for your success. An affirmation could be, ‘I’m so grateful for attracting people who resonate with my zest and passion for life, and who support me in every way I can conceive.’

Don’t try to funnel what you want — leave it to the field to arrange how you get your success. Trying to control the outcome will only result in you getting emotionally and/or physically constipated.

Conclusions…and Stop Trying!

So, many of us concentrate too hard on trying to sell our wares. We so vehemently try to do this that we miss the point. We need to sell our passion — why we do what we do; why we are what we are. Encapsulate and BE the passion that drove you down this avenue and stop trying — trying only implies more trying. Savvy? Great. Go out there and peddle your passion!

Love the Body You’re In!

Let’s Get Physical

“You are imperfect, permanently and inevitably flawed. And you are beautiful.”
― Amy Bloom

As I was walking along the beach one fine Summer morning, taking in the warm comforting sunshine of another lustrous day in Cape Town, I had my eyes severely pried open.

I had already walked the length of the beach and back and as I was approaching the designated ‘swimming’ section of the beach (shark nets just fitted and all!), I heard the glorious tones of laughter, splashing, shrieking and general guffawing.

Carpe Diem!

When I looked over at the watery shallows I saw the melodious sounds were coming from a group of well-endowed, young African ladies.  Some of them had shorts and t-shirts on, some were fully clad in dresses — it didn’t matter — the only thing that seemed to matter was having a copious amount of fun.

They were seizing the day and living in the moment — squeezing the joy out of the sparkling waves as they crashed down on them.

They didn’t care that their clothes were completely see-through or that they weren’t sporting the latest Speedo bikini.

Upside Down Pear-Shapes and Wake Up Calls

I was swiftly jolted back into my own headspace.  I had walked most of this beautiful beach preoccupied by how I was going to look when — at the end of my walk — I took my swim.

Let me explain:

I bought this really expensive and kind of uncomfortable swimsuit but it was too big at the bottom end (making my bum look big) and very snug at the top end (causing a serious melon-spillage).  I’ve kind of got this reverse pear-shape thing going on where what fits the top is too big for the bottom and what fits the bottom is too small for the top.  Aaargh!

This was making me feel very self-conscious.

So, I’d been fussing about this in my chaotic and totally unnecessary thought-stream up to the point where the playful posse had interrupted my rather irksome inner dialogue.

Western Culture Sucks

Here were these beautiful bountiful lasses all flaunting their fabulousness and there I was fretting about a stupid little thing like a baggy-bottomed bather (which probably wasn’t that bad to begin with — the mind can create havoc, you know!).

Besides the fact that I am a typical Virgo, always fussing with the smallest of things and wanting everything in its right place — the ‘western’ culture is just so damned critical.

We always have some magazine, TV show or fashion trend telling us what perfect looks like and how we should be.

What a bunch of bs.  I mean really?

Cottage Cheese and Crackers

New Divine You CoverActually, I know a few people who — either due to the delusion that their thighs resemble cottage cheese or they wouldn’t be seen dead in a bather (really?  Not even if you were dead?) — wouldn’t even attempt a swim because of the fear of being seen!

It’s completely crackers?!

I wish these people would regress themselves to their childhood and ask their tiny counterparts what they would think of themselves if they knew that, in time to come, they wouldn’t enjoy a swim because of how they perceived themselves?

The sad thing is that I have even heard 4  year old girls now walking around asking if their ‘bum looks big in this?‘.

Being Unique is the Best Trend Ever!

After this episode of learning, I whipped off my clothes and sauntered into the ocean — releasing the inner child and just having a thoroughly, bloody good time.

It felt so freeing.

I can’t say that I didn’t adjust my costume a few times — old habits die hard — but I did feel a sense of relief and balls to what people think.

The Naked Truth

I hope you come away from this blog with a sense of how ridiculous it is to:

  1. Not have fun or be spontaneous because of what other people think —  When you do this, you are letting other people dictate your experience.  Now how foolish does that sound now that you’re reading it in black and white?
  2. Worry about how you might appear to others, period —  If you’re OK with who you are, it doesn’t matter what other people think.  You’ve got to get over it.  You’re never going to have universal appeal anyway.  The people whose opinions count, will be the ones who love your uniqueness.

If you’re having the time of your life, go on and enjoy it!  Don’t give a hoot about the skew looks you might procure if you truly let go — the ones who may pass judgment are the ones who cannot release their inner child or inner joy.

Who knows, your bravado might entice their daring to come out and play.

Love the Skin You’re In

“I’ve gone through stages where I hate my body so much that I won’t even wear shorts and a bra in my house because if I pass a mirror, that’s the end of my day.”
― Fiona Apple

How many of us can relate to Ms. Apple?

Call to action time.  I want you, next time you face yourself in the mirror, to truly look into your own eyes.  Tell yourself that you are a beautiful and unique creature — a human expression of the soul you truly are.

Let your eyes run over every nuance of your being, even the parts you may not like.  When you do this, praise yourself for the bits and bobs you love about yourself — put your full attention on those parts and really give yourself genuine admiration.  Be kind and complementative — just as if you were uplifting a friend who was having body image problems.

This is not an act of narcissism — this is a way to get you to accept and love the skin you’re in.

Most of all, be grateful for the body you have.  It doesn’t take a genius to work out that even if you do have lumps and bumps in certain places, you probably still have a lot to be thankful for.

“Let me ask you something, in all the years that you have…undressed in front of a gentleman has he ever asked you to leave?

Has he ever walked out and left? No? It’s because he doesn’t care!

He’s in a room with a naked girl, he just won the lottery. I am so tired of saying no, waking up in the morning and recalling every single thing I ate the day before, counting every calorie I consumed so I know just how much self loathing to take into the shower. I’m going for it.

I have no interest in being obese, I’m just through with the guilt. So this is what I’m going to do, I’m going to finish this pizza, and then we are going to go watch the soccer game, and tomorrow we are going to go on a little date and buy ourselves some bigger jeans.” ― Elizabeth Gilbert

Do you have a tip to share?  How do you embrace your body, ‘faults’ and all?  I’d love to hear from you.

10 TOP Tips to Keep You Happy!

Happy Header

With so much going on in the daily life of the average Joe, it is hard to stay motivated.  We sometimes feel beaten down by society and all the things we occupy ourselves with, voluntary or involuntary.

This can range from commuting, work, school runs, to housework, helping the kids with homework, cooking and finding precious time to unwind — which usually ends  up with us watching TV. But how can we manage our time better to incorporate the things we long to do but feel we have no time for?

Here are 10 tips to get you excited and keep you motivated to enjoy living another day:

1. Quality Sleep

New Divine You CoverThis is one of the most important things you can gift yourself and your family with.  Make space in your night-time schedule to start winding down at least 1 hour prior to going to bed.  You can light some calming, soothing essential oils, such as lavender and chamomile — will assist in good, sound sleep.  You can have a warm, milky drink or some herbal tea.  Switch off all radios and TV’s that are keeping you engaged in noise and ‘action’.  Instead, you can read that book you’ve been promising yourself or listen to some relaxing music.  All of these things can aid you into an alpha brain wave state, which allows your mind to relax and disconnect.  You must avoid falling asleep on a full stomach or, even worse, falling asleep with the TV on.  Your mind still takes in everything it hears, even whilst asleep, and having the TV on will not only disrupt your sleep but possibly cause you to have nightmares.

2. Berry Boost

With a good nights sleep tucked safely under your belt, what better way to start your morning off with than a berry smoothie?  This is quick and easy to make and will give your system a boost of sustainable energy.  These smoothies keep me going for about 4-5 hours.  They are great for your skin too, berries have anti-aging properties and the calcium is good for your bones, ladies!  A quick recipe I use is (for one 500ml serving):  Take 2 handfuls of mixed, frozen berries (or fresh if you like, I like the frozen ones because they give a kind of ‘crushed ice’ effect), 2 squirts of Stevia, 4 tablespoons of plain yoghurt and top up with some milk.  Blend and drink your way to vitality and well-being!

3. Time Productivity

Use your time wisely.  If you commute to work by public service, take this opportunity to meditate or read.  Make it ‘you’ time.  If you can, it is great to shut your eyes in the morning and the evening (could be on your way to or from work  if you are traveling by public service) — for just 10-20 minutes at a time — to meditate and clear your mind.  This will benefit you in more ways than you can imagine.  It also gives you a break from the mind chatter or what I like to call ‘white noise’.  This allows more productive thoughts through instead of the useless and incessant worry that can clog up the mind.

4. Breathing

Huh?  Don’t I do this automatically?  Yes, but most people are in the habit of shallow breathing.  You need to oxygenate your body for optimum productivity and chi (vital force).  Try to, at least every hour, breath in to the count of 5, hold it to the count of 5 and exhale to the count of 5.  This will give you a boost during the day.

5. Let Loose

This is an integral step for you to de-stress after a long day. Explore an activity that is tantamount to letting the ‘inner child’ out to play.  I find it really helpful to put on some upbeat music and have a sing-song and dance around the house.  Get your groove on and invite your family to join in.  You can do this for just 30 minutes and it is a really fun way to get moving and to unwind.  The best part is you also get a great workout — physically and vocally!  Let your inner diva shine!

6. Keep it Clean

This is a macrocosm/microcosm thing — it affects the inside and the outside world.  When you have a neat, tidy and clean home and/or office, you are happier.  When you have a clean, refreshed body, you are happier.  I have to tell you about my dog.  She hates her bath, as do so many of our canine counterparts, but after she has been through this torturous activity, she runs around the garden like a dog-reborn — smiling, barking and just generally frolicking like a pup.  Bath-time also equates to going for a walk (which she does regularly) but when she walks after her bath, she has a spring in her step and a wag in her tail that is much more noticeable.  This is a great metaphor for how we feel when our bodies are bathed (make your bath-time a treat too — get some nice smelly soaps and bubble-bath and make it an event) and our houses or offices are spic-and-span and organized.

7. Eat Well

Another part of keeping it clean, is keeping the inside of your sacred body clean and invest in a detox every now and again.  Or better still, make it a daily habit to eat healthy fresh foods.  You know the kind I’m talking about so I’m not going to go into detail.  This is a no-brainer, you are what you eat.  Keep it fresh, colourful and simple and your system will be alive and vibrant, leaving you feeling energized and ready to take on the world.  Have you noticed how sluggish you feel when you’ve pigged out on a burger and chips?  Yeah?  Well, you need to get real about what you are putting in and perhaps compare that to what you are getting out!  You may have a Porsche but you can’t run it on horse manure.

8. Creative Space

This is really important.  We all need to express ourselves creatively, no matter if it takes the form of art, writing, decorating, drawing, constructing/ building, etc.  It is hugely beneficial to give yourself some time and a quiet space to be creative.  If it is once a day, that is great.  If you can’t fit it in daily then at least allocate yourself a good few days of the week to squeeze in 2-3 hours of creative expression time.  You can even make this a family activity where everyone gets time out to do something fun.  It will teach you and your family the benefit of taking care of your own needs in an unselfish and productive way.

9. Gratitude

Take time out, especially with your family, to give thanks for all that you  do have in your life right now.  This can be over a meal, as is commonly practiced in the saying of Grace.  I am not a religious person but I do see the benefits of giving thanks.  This could also be done in your quiet time in the bath, or whilst you are commuting, etc.  You can explain the benefits to your family and encourage them to also find a quiet minute or two to reflect on being grateful.  This feeds positivity and will nurture your good feelings ratio.

10. Reflect

When you find the space to reflect on your life, your goals and your dreams, you can keep the picture of your destiny clear and precise.  When you don’t take time out to ponder and to re-align with your intentions, you may lose sight of where you are headed.  You can sometimes slip into a stream that does not fit the destination of your dream.  Make a vision board where you can pin all the things you desire and all that you would like to manifest in your life experience.  Make sure you hold yourself accountable for taking action towards your goals and keep this board somewhere where you will see it every day.

What is most important of all is that you enjoy your journey, this life is precious and special and you can make each day an enjoyable experience.

If you catch yourself falling into boredom or despair, simply remind yourself that you can make a choice to re-align to a more joyful outlook — run through this checklist and see if there is anything you can do or improve on to bring you into a state of balance and fulfillment.

In the wise words of Eckhart Tolle, you can either be enthusiastic about what you are doing, enjoy what you are doing or accept what you are doing.  When you do not fall into any of these 3 categories you set yourself up for feeling resentment or frustration.

What do you find lifts your spirits?  Please share it in the comment box below. 😀

How to Turn Disappointment into Opportunity

Disappointment - A new way to look at it

Disappointment: Your Passport to Greater Things

“Sometimes when you get disappointment it makes you stronger.” — David Rudisa

Some existential theories suggest that the Universe or our current reality is impartial — it’s neutral, like Switzerland. There is no meaning to life except that which we give it.

Now before this article starts to sound like a downer, I want to interject that this is actually an outrageously great opportunity and here’s why:

  1. If the Universe has no meaning (impartial, neutral, etc) and we are the ones giving it meaning (after all, it is our playground — our realm of freedom to choose) then we can change the game at any time which is cause for massive celebration!
  2. If we truly are creating our reality (as states the Law of Attraction — which, coincidentally, is also impartial. Read more about that here in this 4 part Law of Attraction series: LOA – Aligning with How You Are Feeling), then we are endowing meaning to our existence all the time whether we’re conscious of it or not. How about making a conscious decision to make it a good one, eh?
  3. We are at a tipping point when we are faced with disappointment — we can either choose to see it as a negative experience or choose to see it as some kind of Divine timing and fall into the arms of the Universe and Trust (with a big T) that the Universe has our backs no matter what.

Let me explain: When you trust with a big ‘T’ is simply means you know there is a bigger picture than the one you are experiencing. When someone breaks your trust (little ‘t’) you still Trust that there is a greater lesson for your soul in there. When you can do this, you’re going to put a positive spin on your life and all the situations you find yourself in. I learned this pearl of wisdom from Vicki Howie’s and her wonderful Chakra Boosting Course, which I highly recommend!

Choice — Your Gateway to Opportunity

“Disenchantment, whether it is a minor disappointment or a major shock, is the signal that things are moving into transition in our lives.” — William Throsby Bridges

If life is indeed meaningless and you give it meaning by your choices, you’re in the drivers seat! Every choice you make could be steering you to positive outcomes, if you allow yourself to charge your life in this new way.

My Recent Disappointment

I was recently very let down by someone that I trusted. I thought they were impeccable with their word and — long story short — they weren’t.

At first I vented out my anger and had a good rant. You know the type, ‘how could they do this to me?’, ‘what an asshole!’, ‘why do people act this way — don’t they have any scruples?’. I’m a huge advocate of letting out your emotions. Think of it like a kettle boiling on the burner with the lid on — you’ve got to relieve the lid at some point to let the steam out, right?

When I’d done my venting and had let out of my system all that needed to be — I started to ask myself these 2 important questions:

  1. What was my lesson? I concluded that this person I was dealing with was not impeccable with their word and that I needed to be cautious with them — which is why I got this ‘little burn’. In fact, by heeding the warning signs of this first let down,  I may have prevented having a kettle full of hot water poured down my front by their actions. Rather a little burn than being scalded.
  2. Is there perhaps something better around the corner that this fallen through agreement has made space for? Yes! I believe so. I don’t know what it is yet but I’m paving the way to give this situation a positive meaning. I trust that everything happens for a reason and that the Universe has my back (‘big T’ Trust in action). The timing is indeed Divine and I’ll curiously await either a better opportunity than the one on offer or keep my eyes peeled for an crisis I may have averted.

How Long Are You Going to Stay Stuck in the Funk?

There are 3 main definitions of funk:

  1. A foul smell or odor,
  2. A type of music that combines elements of rhythm and blues with soul, percussive vocals, strong bass and heavy down-beats,
  3. A state of great fear, panic or fluster. A depressed, sad or sorry state of mind.

I’m going to be discussing the latter form of funk.

Funky Town

Any musician would give their eye teeth (what a strange old saying) to get a good dose of the funk — the kind that separates the wheat from the chaff in the music industry. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are doused with the funk and have had a long and lucrative career because of its incredible mass appeal.

However, when life throws us a curve ball and we get stuck in the quagmire of that smelly, crappy kind of funk — that just ‘aint worth singing about.

Thing is we all have a choice.

Bad Taste in Your Mouth? Suck on a Mint

We all have our moment in the sun…and in the shade. When the cloud of despair rains down, there’s no judgment in having a pity party. For a while that is (some people’s ‘while’ lasts a bit longer than others. In fact, some folks’ ‘while’ turns into ‘wile’ and they try to pull others down into their stratagem ’cause they don’t want to shovel out. Misery enjoys company, don’t you know?).

Problem is, many people get stuck at the Mad Hatters Time (and Tea) Guzzling Pity Party for a lifetime not realizing that at any time one can get their Alice on and leave the table to join the path of great adventure again.

Funk, Flunk or Flank

Getting stuck in a funk has its ups too, you know. Nothing happens to you without good reason (here’s where I get pelted with tomatoes ’cause I know everyone loves a cliché). Read more here: Plot Twist! 3 Things You Desperately Need to Know About Game Changes

If you’re brave enough to mine your downs, you’re going to shovel out of the funk ditch without flunking out on life. Even if you flank out of it by fringing around the border of the funk, you’ll make it through to the other side.

Seeing that this article is heading more for a play on words than any philosophical feat (and I’m not to sure where it’s going), let me end on this:

At any given point (you’re never too old, too late, too weary, too ‘far gone’ or whatever other excuse you can conjure up), you can make another choice and completely change direction in your life. Don’t let your circumstances define who you are — only let your choices do that.

Lyme Disease: What They’re Not Telling You

What the…?

A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with Lyme disease and she shared a documentary called, ‘Under Our Skin‘ (which I will embed for you to watch at the end of this post). I just had to share it with you all as I was totally gobsmacked after sitting through, what I have to call, a reality check — yup, one of those ‘every human being needs to watch‘ type-things.

It didn’t make it any better that I’m currently rereading Stephen King’s, The Stand (about a runaway strain of the flu that brought down humanity and brought on the biblical Apocalypse).

All jokes aside, I had heard of Lyme disease but wasn’t really clued up about it and was totally unaware of the whole controversy surrounding chronic Lyme disease and the treatment thereof (amounting to the level of ‘conspiracy theory’, I might add!) .

You can read more about this conditions overview and clinical trials at the NHS (UK) site here: Lyme disease.

What is it?

In a nutshell, it is a bacterial infection spread by infected ticks to humans. If detected in its early stages, it can be treated quite effectively but if it is left undiagnosed, it can lead to chronic Lyme disease, which can only be managed at the moment (and to great financial cost and physical suffering).

The sad thing is, not enough research is being done or deemed necessary as to whether it can be spread as a STD or if it is passed on to the unborn fetus in the womb (although the documentary I’m about to share is pretty convincing that it is).

The Unbelievable Divide

For those of you who don’t know, there is a split in the medical field over chronic Lyme disease — some doctors deny it even exists whilst others try their best to treat patients suffering with this debilitating illness. Treatment is hard to come by in certain countries and some doctors even brush the disease off as being psychosomatic.

The doctors who are ballsy enough to treat the conditions are often sued and lose their license to practice medicine (paper trail leading back to frustrated medical insurance companies who aren’t too happy about paying for long term treatments).

The most common symptoms (although the list is as long as your arm!) are:

  • extreme pain and swollen joints,
  • nervous system conditions such as numbness, pain in limbs, memory loss and paralysis of facial muscles,
  • heart problems,
  • sensitivity to light, migraines, stiff neck due to inflammation of the membranes surrounding the spine and brain

As I said, the list is long, and can also include rashes and shaking. There are reasons to believe that this bacteria could indeed be linked to MS, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer, fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (to name a few common biggies).

But don’t take my word for it, please watch the documentary below — it’s a real eye-opener! And please share it with family and friends so we can all have a broader range of compassion for the souls who are dealing with this or have a loved one who is. Thank you.

A ‘Must See’ Guide to Feeling Good

Tuning Into Your Favorite Station

It’s a kind of magic (thanks Queen, it sure is!) — not only does this Universe work purely on energy and everything in and of it is energy (which can’t be destroyed only transmuted) but we are also working fundamentally with vibration or frequency — we only think we’re in this physical form.

Focusing all your attention on matter and material things is like thinking you are only a solid galumphing mass when you’re actually, according to quantum physics, 0.1 % matter and 99.9% pure nothingness (or everythingness/pure potential — it’s up to you which you’re going to choose).

Just remember we are made up of cells which are made up of atoms and each atom has a nucleus (made up of protons and neutrons) and electrons which constitute only 0.1% of the atom.

“If you removed the empty space of the atoms in every person, the entire human race would fit into the volume of a sugar cube.” ~ Institute of Physics

Point is, there is much more to our existence than what our 5 senses are telling us. We’ve got to step out of the box that confines us to thinking that our material reality is all that matters (no pun intended).

The realm of all possibility has turned blue in the face trying to beckon us to come play in the quantum field of all possibility by freeing our automated emotional responses that create a future from our past. How about stepping out into the infinite realm and creating a new life — one that’s full of possibility and wonder?

Quantum Tongue-Twister

Quantum physics has a wave-particle duality phenomenon that states that all particles have both wave and particle properties….and behave, in accordance with the observer, in either fashion. When a camera observes, they act as particles. However, when there is no equipment  used to observe, they acted as waves and particles simultaneously.

“…the tree falling in the forest with no-one to hear it makes no sound but also dances the fandango if it feels the urge?”

  • Does this mean that everything in the Universe is guided into manifestation based on what or who is observing it?
  • Does this mean that not only will the tree falling in the forest with no-one to hear it make no sound but also dance the fandango if it felt the urge?

So what does this have to do with feeling good?

Pretty much everything.

What’s the Magic Word?

Every thought pattern that you conjure up in your mind has a certain frequency. Is it lower or higher? Are you thinking ‘good’ thoughts or ‘bad’ thoughts? Whatever you are thinking you are calling into creation. Remember I wrote an article a while ago about the magic word ‘Abracadabra’ and how it means something truly astonishing? You can read that article here: 3 Ways to Use Magical Words to Create Miraculous Lives

You can master your life experience with just the information that whatever you project energetically (action), emotionally (through strong feeling), vibrationally (through thought) or verbally (the powerful word), is shaping your life experience.

For example:

Your girlfriend leaves you. For weeks you are feeling a pit in your stomach (solar plexus chakra) and you can’t eat, sleep and feel depressed. This is a ‘grieving’ period and it is appropriate.

But sooner rather than later (or never at all!) you are going to have a choice to move that feeling from your solar plexus to your heart chakra (middle of the chest).

How?

You need to master the transmutation of energy. Sounds difficult, doesn’t it?  It really isn’t.

Moving the Energy Up

When you are feeling stuck in your negative emotions you can always choose to shift your feelings. It may not be an instant 0 – 100 but you can slowly usher the feelings to better vibrations. You can do this by playing your favorite music, burning essential oils that you love (I always find jasmine, orange blossom or neroli make me feel happy) or getting up and moving your body — do a little dance to get that solar plexus energy moving in a positive direction.

Expansion and Bliss

To experience the feeling of love, joy, elation or bliss we must draw from the positive experiences of our lives to help align ourselves with feeling good.

How?

Observe how you feel when you think of something wonderful. Some examples would be:

  • Holding your child for the first time,
  • getting your first puppy,
  • getting that job you wanted so bad,
  • watching a magnificent sunset,
  • falling in love,
  • the great time you had with your friends last weekend,
  • sitting watching the sea on a beautiful summer evening — these are all triggers to get you to feel ‘bliss’ and this is usually felt in your heart chakra.

When you find the one thing that can immediately make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, you have your trigger to activate the heart centre/chakra.

This is extremely important as it is a tool to help you to elevate yourself and your well-being.  It is empowering to know that whenever you are feeling out of alignment with your true state, which is bliss, joy and/or love, you can use a memory to help guide you back into your center.

Practical Steps to Feeling Good

Practice this whenever you can:

  1. Just sit quietly, close you eyes and think of that one thing that brings you joy, feel it, observe it, expand it until your whole chest is tingling and opening.  Can you feel that the more you expand this feeling, the more it permeates through your entire body — every cell seems to ‘vibrate’?  Congratulations!  You have found your good vibration!
  2. Go one step further and make it a daily routine (say, while you have your first cuppa in the morning) to declare out loud: “This is going to be a super fantastic day. Everything is going to go smoothly and I’m going to laugh a lot and have so much fun today. There are also going to be some really awesome surprises for me today — I can’t wait to find out what they are!” (you can phrase this however you want, this is just an example). Really feel into it and see yourself smiling a lot today — visualize having a great time.

This sets your tuning fork to hone in on a fabulous day and you’re going to attract cool experiences and a doo-dah day.

You don’t even have to get specific if you don’t know what you want to manifest. I usually always just say, “I’m going to have so many wonderful surprises today”, and 9/10 I do. It could be getting a bunch of flowers to receiving a letter from an old friend in the mail. I leave it up to the field of all possibility as to what they’re going to be. When I recognize these surprises are being delivered, I give thanks ’cause gratitude is REALLY important — it’s a feel-good frequency too. Read related article here: Giving Thanks: Why Does Gratitude Make You Happy?

Now you can use this to steer your life in the direction you want.

Just remember, if you fall overboard, you can throw yourself a life belt by either moving it up a notch or reminding yourself that ‘this too shall pass‘.  Then when you are feeling a little better, you can start your heart chakra meditation and start redirecting your cosmic vibration to match your desires again.

5 Things I Would’ve Told ‘Mini Me’

Move Over Moses

If you had a time machine, what would you go back and tell your younger self? What important advice could you give your child right now?

For me, I’d chisel these 5 things onto a stone tablet (just to be sure it would hit home) and hand it to my ‘mini me’:

  1. Conforming is nuts, weird is way cooler —  Don’t try to be who you are not.  Everyone wants an original not a copy — thinking out of the box is not even good enough…heck, burn the box! Most people who truly make it in this life have brought something truly unique into the world. If non-conforming get’s you the nickname ‘weirdo’, wear it with pride and read this article to prove how spectacularly awesome being weird is: Why Being Weird is Unusually Cool!
  2. Don’t take things personally — Being young certainly came with inadvertently taking on the opinions of our peers and family. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and tastes but there is no ‘blanket’ rule over what the truth is as there are over 7 billion different perspectives on earth right now. You’re never going to have universal appeal so be happy with the unique you. Read more about throwing out things that don’t serve you here: 8 Tips on How to Stop Caring What Other People Think of You
  3. Don’t hold a grudge — to forgive literally means to release from a debt. If only I had known back then that to hold a grudge means extra baggage for you! Read related article: Want to Live Longer?
  4. Make good choices — our choices define who we are more than our abilities sub button(paraphrasing here from J.K. Rowling’s character, Dumbledore, from the Harry Potter series). We make big and small choices daily and, let’s face it, those choices carry weight as they affect our lives.  If you take a tumble from the bandwagon, there is always a solution to any given problem — that’s if you are quiet enough to hear the innate wisdom that is always inside your heart (read related article: How to Use Your Heart Wisdom).  Life doesn’t just randomly happen to you if you take responsibility for your choices — good and bad.
  5. Your thoughts are uber powerful! — How utterly cool would it have been to know — back in the day — that your thoughts are the catalyst (along with your feeling frequency) to manifesting whatever you want in your life!?! Damn, all the things I could’ve done with the Law of Attraction in my youth…alas. Good news is, it’s never too late to start taking the bull by the horns and direct your life with new thoughts and feelings that serve you (instead of work against you). It’s truly incredible that you can do or be anything you want to be by aligning your feelings with where you want to be or with what you want to achieve. Read related articles here: LOA – Aligning with How You Are FeelingLOA – Are You an Accident Waiting to Happen?LOA – Baby Steps That Snowball! and LOA: Getting Ready to Manifest the Best 2017 Possible!

2 Things People in Relationships Forget About that Lead to Disaster

As I began to wake up this morning and my dreary, sleepy eyes adjusted to my surrounds — a thought popped into my head.

In fact 2 thoughts managed to creep in there.

I wondered why I was having these thoughts — as they seemed totally unrelated to the happy dream I was having about a monkey, an umbrella and a packet of crisps — and then I remembered, it was writing day today and I guess the field of potential wanted you to hear this.

“You’re not in competition with your partner, you’re supposed to be a complimentary team.”

I’m going to jump right in and say that, in my experience (and I do feel somewhat qualified as hubby and I are celebrating 21 years of marriage this year — proving that I’m an applied romantic and not just a theoretical one!), there are 2 key expressions (that we often overlooked) that we need to show our partners without hesitation:

  1. Awe
  2. Compassion

Let’s take no.1

Awe — there’s a reason you chose your partner. What was it? Remind yourself of what makes you revere your partner. What brought about those butterflies in the beginning? For example: What attracted me to Michael was his raw talent, his kindness and tenderness, our shared sense of obscure humor, his ability to always be the container for me and hold a space when I’m venting and, of course, his dashing good looks don’t hurt either. Never let this spark of awe die out. You’re not in competition with your partner, you’re supposed to be a complimentary team.

Subscribe buttonCompassion — compassion covers a lot of things like empathy, understanding, non-judgement and love. It’s vital in a relationship because, at some point, one of you is going to go through something that the other needs to hold a space for. Sometimes this requires that you put your own problems aside for a moment to allow your partner to work things out. Too often I see people in relationships compete for who’s problem outweighs the other persons woes. For example: If your partner says he/she feels like he needs time out today cause he/she’s just worn out. Instead of throwing your toys out your cot because YOU’VE had a far worse week than him/her, rather allow him/her to rest without guilt or justification. Maybe this has interfered with your plans but try and see things from their perspective. Can you put your plans on the back-burner for now? 9/10 times you can. Another important tip is to learn how to listen without always having to give advice — try just being a sounding board for them (unless you really have something to offer of value).

Often we slip into competition with our partner, as mentioned above, who’s had a worse day, who has more problems, who’s better at what — instead of seeing it in duality, try seeing your situation as a whole. How much appreciation do you have for this person in your life? A lot? Then tell them (awe). How much do you care for this person in your life? A lot? Then learn to identify when they are going through something difficult and help them through it without judgement or comparison (compassion).

If you do this and show the person in your life how much they mean to you — by giving them genuine compliments of appreciation and by showing them you truly care — you will improve and sustain your relationship exponentially.

Zombie Apocalypse: Avoid ‘Team Walking Dead’ with these Simple Tricks

What is Dopamine?

It’s the kick-butt chemical that charges the motivation/reward center of the brain and it could be the reason for the zombie apocalypse we find ourselves facing today.

Studies have now shown that excessive device use (smartphones, iPhones, iPads, etc) release this chemical. It’s no wonder that people get sweaty palms when threatened with having their smart phones taken away from them! It works in the same way as going ‘cold turkey’ in the world of narcotics.

When we’re addicted to checking our texts, feeds, e-mails, ‘likes’, etc we are feeding the continuous loop of dopamine which ends up having us in a carrot-donkey situation.

  • The more information we glean the more we want.
  • The more ‘likes’ our posts get, the more selfies we take. This attention-seeking activity finds youths (and adults alike) trying to find some kind of self-esteem in the number of ‘likes’ and comments they can clock up on various social media platforms (such as instagram and facebook).Y?

Society’s addiction to devices has become a disease.

Death by Selfie

Did you know that according to the Washington Post, 2015 saw at least 27 reported people die trying to take selfies in dangerous areas or situations? And, although the majority are of a younger age group 24 years and under, there were reports of older people in these statistics too. India is the country with the most reported ‘death by selfies’ in the world.

The race for fame and glory is on and everyone wants in on the action — well, at least it seems that way when you’re walking through a mall and most peoples noses seem to be glued to their screens. Take a look at this video clip:

Yeah, it’s funny and no, it’s not.

I took a trip to a mall last year (yip, I don’t get out much living out in the sticks and about 200km’s from the nearest shopping center) and was amazed that at least 70% of the people mulling about in the mall were on their devices — literally walking and surfing at the same time. I was amazed that no-one fell down the escalators!

This Sh*t is Real

We’re in big trouble, folks. Our addiction to these devices is gob-smacking. I value the internet and the opportunity it brings but I’m very aware of the insidious downside.

Try answer these questions honestly:

  • Are you neglecting hobbies you used to engage in (such as reading, drawing, writing or cooking) because you’re spending oodles of time on your phone?
  • Are you neglecting family or friends because you keep in touch over your apps, so you feel you don’t need to physically go and visit them?
  • Are you ignoring your immediate family because you’re too busy online to go outside and play ball with your kids or cook and eat a meal together whilst sharing your tales of the day?
  • Do you constantly check your phone for messages or spring into action to check it when it goes off?
  • Even worse, do you constantly check your phone or allow unimportant interruptions while you are visiting or meeting someone who’s taken the time out to be with you?
  • Do you feel you don’t have enough time in the day to do what you want to do but you have enough time to sit on your device checking your feeds every few minutes?
  • Do you break out into a sweat if you’re phone has been left behind somewhere, or the battery is dead and you’ve no instant way of recharging?

If you’ve answered yes to any of the above, it’s time for a reality check. I’m no angel, I constantly rein myself in and do the check. I often find I’ve fallen prey and try to realign myself to the below suggestion list. do we reclaim our power and take back control?

  • Consciously Limit Your Time — if you have to check your facebook feed or if, indeed, you run a business and need to post something — have a time limit. Anything from between 20 minutes (casual) to an hour (business). Any more than this is dangerous, in my point of view. You can get caught up in feeds and waste a lot of valuable time.
  • Walk in Nature — this is a combo-deal as you get fresh air and exercise. Nature and exercise also makes us feel less stressed, anxious or depressed. Ditch the phone though, make it a device free venture.
  • Garden — get in touch with the earth and grow things. Gardens give us hope for the future and make us happy. So what are you waiting for? Why not take on a fun project like growing your own vegetables? You don’t need your phone in the garden, put it down for a couple of hours and go acquaint yourself with the fresh outdoors! Read related article: Gardening Your Way to Zen
  • Read a Book — remember those hard-cased objects stuffed full of paper with black ink on every page? Get reading again, it’s character-building. Turn your phone to silent mode when you read — far less distracting.
  • Space to Relax — turn your device off and just zone out. Put your feet up and daydream or meditate. Get in touch with yourself and who you are — know thyself. Our devices stop us from being in the now and have us always looking for ‘stuff’ to occupy our minds. Give yourself time to unwind without being on call. Read related article: Harvard Scientists Found Something Surprising About People Who Meditate
  • Meet and Greet — make contact with real people (the bona fide, fleshy ones). Engage in real conversation with eye-to-eye contact and don’t forget to turn your phone off!
  • Get Cooking — make delicious home-cooked meals prepared with love. Invite people over and share in laughter, good food and company — nothing beats it!
  • Device Free Sleeping — don’t leave your phone next to your bed so it can ping all night long. Put it in the next room and have a device free sleep.

Doing these things might just save us from an insidious Zombie Apocalypse. What is your greatest pet peeve when it comes to our new age of technology?

Make Money Creating Beautiful Recycled Goodies Today!

Garbage for Energy!

I want to start this article off by giving Sweden a big pat on the back for being huge trend setters when it comes to effective recycled waste management. You can read more about their initiatives here: Sweden Is Recycling So Much Trash, It’s Running Out

Turning Trash into Treasure

I’m a big fan of upcycling and getting people to reuse things they would otherwise throw away (which either leaves our streets dirty, our oceans polluted, our tips full to brimming or — the lesser of the evils — recycled into something else via a recycling depot).

But how about actually earning an income selling your beautiful recycled wares? It’s cheap as you don’t have to lay out much money for materials and the finished products are amazing!

I started running a weekly craft class at the beginning of last year at our local youth upliftment center (called ‘Net vir Pret’ — Afrikaans for ‘Just for Fun’) here in South Africa and it’s been a great journey of discovery. Not only is it a pleasure working with these talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds but I’ve discovered loads about turning trash into treasure (picture to your right is my class making beads out of magazines)!

They are now selling their wares at our local market and this is how you can too!

Life’s All About Learning, Caring and Sharing

We’ve got a bit of a problem here in South Africa with litter. It’s a subject close to my heart ’cause, let’s face it, nobody thrives in an environment strewn with garbage. So, I wanted to offer these kids a fun way to, not only clean up the environment, but to make money with the crafty things they can do with it.

Pinterest was my saviour! You can check out some of the ideas I’ve collected on my board HERE.

I’ve been scrolling the many ideas on Pinterest, in my free moments, gathering a treasure trove of ideas to implement. I want to share these ideas that I’ve tried and tested with all you creatives out there wanting to make a bit of extra cash whilst letting the inner child out to play!

Read related article: 5 Amazing Super Powers You’ll Develop When You Get Creative

Below I’m going to share some of the crafty recycled tit-bits I’ve been making in my classes to give you some quick and easy ideas of how you can turn your garbage into gold. Not only can you sell these but you can give them as gifts or make useful things for around your own home.

Polystyrene and Magazines

These cards were made out of magazines and polystyrene.

Find a picture you like for the main focal point of the card and glue it to some polystyrene.

Then cut it out and glue to the card for a great looking raised effect.

These really look super in real life and a great way to impress friends and family at birthdays!

Bottles and Bottle Caps

Old soda, beer or wine bottles are great for making these vases or candle stick holders.

(Left photo) I apply my design with an acrylic glass paint tube — let that dry — and then fill in the color with acrylic paint. When that is dry I use an epoxy to glaze over the bottle (now you can safely hand wash it).

These are good sellers and make excellent gifts.

(Right photo) This project is done using any glass jar (this one happened to be an empty olive jar).

You glue the entire bottle with craft glue and then wrap twine or string around the bottle.

Then, to decorate, get some old bottle caps and cut out pictures
from magazines, old cards or wrapping paper — stick them inside the caps and glue them to your jar.

I use a bit of varnish or epoxy to glaze the pictures inside the bottle caps — it gives it a nice finishing touch.

The card is also made using bottle caps.

Magazine Craft

This is an old trick I learned when I was young — recycled magazine beads (see photo to your left).

This is done by cutting magazine pages into strips. The strip is done from the top to the bottom of the magazine page — start cutting at 2cm width and taper to a point.

Apply glue to the one side. Now take a match stick and — with the widest part of the strip — start rolling the strip onto the match stick. Keep guiding the strip towards the center as you are rolling to give the bulbous ‘bead’ shape.

You can dazzle your mates with the fabulous jewelry you can make with these super easy beads.

The white bracelet (also in the picture to your left) is made by braiding a plastic bag and then taking a glue gun and sealing the edges to form a bangle. It doesn’t get easier than that!

Plastic Bottles

This is by far my most favorite thing to make — flowers!

I stick these in my garden and use them in vases.

They are made by cutting a plastic soda bottle in half and then cutting leaf shapes and bending them to form a flower.

You use both sides of the bottle to accomplish this and then glue them together. I also use the bottle cap for the center of the flower. You practically use the entire bottle! How cool is that?

I then use acrylic paint or spray-paint to decorate.

That’s all the recycled stuff I’ve done to date. I hope I’ve given you some ideas about turning your trash into treasure!

Happy crafting!

Harmony — My Christmas Gift to You

A New Vision by Cherie Roe Dirksen

System Reboot

I don’t know about you, but I’ve kind of slipped off the bandwagon lately with regards to ‘me’ time.  I don’t know if its got to do with moving house and having an endless list of things to do or being in the midst of the silly season but quiet, reflective time is relatively scarce.

Or is it?

I realized that all that is really needed when we fall from the above-mentioned carriage is to get up and dust off.  A kind of rebooting is required.

Simple Ways to Reconnect with Spirit

So, as I was thinking about all the yoga, meditation, reading and general connecting with spirit I have been neglecting, I saw that all I needed was a swift kick in the derriere to get myself motivated again.

All we need are simple tweaks in our daily routine to get back on track.

Speaking of tracks…when I was composing my mood music albumNature Calling’, the first song I wrote was called ‘Harmony’.  I actually composed it as a zoning out, meditation tune — a quick 5-minuter that can realign you and make you feel at peace with self and nature (which I will be offering to you as a free download below).

So first on the list of reconnecting with self is:

  • Take 5 — As little as 5 minutes meditation time can give you an added boost to your day. You can do this in silence, you can find a guided meditation that works for you (there are loads on YouTube) or you can pick a relaxing tune to chill to. I am offering my track ‘Harmony’ as a FREE DOWNLOAD HERE so you can have a go-to track readily available whenever you need it.
  • Stretch It — Do some stretching exercises to release tension and get you feeling all loosey-goosey. I have been doing a quick 5 minute yoga stretching routine for years now  — something I picked up from a Deepak Chopra book — and it works wonders. You can type in ‘stretching yoga exercises’ into Google and get some quick and easy ideas of how to do this.
  • Grounding/Earthing — This one is uber simple to do. Go outside (where there is earth or grass), take your shoes off and feel Gaia’s energy! This is such an awesome practice and it is so healing. Read more about Earthing here on CLN: Grounding for Body Equilibrium and Health
  • Hu — No, this is not taking time out to perve over Hugh Jackman, Hugh Grant, Hugh Laurie or any other fine Hugh-named celebrity. It’s an ancient practice of sounding out the word ‘HU’ (pronounced like ‘Hugh’ or ‘hue’) to get in touch with the God-self. It’s a great mantra to use for overall well-being.  For more about the HU technique CLICK HERE.
  • Reading — This is also something that I love to do but sometimes find little time for. But really? One doesn’t have to finish a novel to get the benefit of a bit of reading down-time — you can surely put your feet up for just 10 minutes to get the advantage of loafing with a book?!
  • Get Real — This last one is about what you’re putting into your beautiful, divine body! Yip, I can just feel you rolling your eyes. It’s especially hard to remember to honour your sacred, fleshy temple when Christmas feasting is just around the corner. I’m not saying you can’t indulge a little, just try to be mindful. A few minor adjustments could mean a world of difference to how you’re feeling. Drink lots of pure water before and after drinking things like coffee or alcohol. Remember to add equal amounts of fresh fruit and veg to your daily meals. Tune into your body on a regular basis to see if what you’re putting in is affecting what you’re getting out.

Use this list as a little bag of tricks that is doable and doesn’t require a hell of a lot of prep work or time.

Especially now that we are in the peak of the holiday season and spending oodles of time with family and friends, never mind the over-indulgence that is brimming on the horizon (brace for impact)!

You’re going to need all the help you can give yourself.
