5 Simple Steps to Avoid a Burn-Out — No. 2 is a Must!

Burn Out Header

“The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long” — Lao Tzu (Tao Te Ching)

As I was skimming through the enlightening pages of the Tao Te Ching my eyes fell upon the verse above.

In our modern, face-paced lives, we often fall prey to burning out. Stress and anxiety are growing — compacted by obligations, travel, deadlines, family, school activities, parenting, care-giving and the list goes on.

We try to squeeze in a yoga class at lunchtime or rush to the gym after work — perhaps take in a meditation on the train home — but even the list of what you must do to zen out can add to the stress!

That candle is blazing and we’ve lost the ability to just maintain a healthy flicker.

Here are 5 tips to ignite that wick into balance:

1.Keeping a Journal

I’m a huge advocate of keeping a journal.

Always keep one handy so you can jot down any ideas you may have that you don’t want to forget or get out what’s in your head, in general, so you can ‘tidy it up’ (schedule your time better in order to facilitate what must be done). This way you can also filter out what isn’t really important or what needs to take a back seat for now that can be readdressed later.

When you write down what’s bugging you (or things you still need to do), half of the stress is already alleviated and isn’t flurrying around upstairs, tap dancing on the floor-boards of your mind — driving you insane!

2. Keeping it Real

Right, now I’m talking to you — you know who you are. The person who has a million and one things to do and can’t find time for themselves!

There are a few simple questions you can ask yourself to keep it real. Here they are:

  1. Is what I’m doing necessary?
  2. Am I overloading my life with appointments, classes, engagements, work?
  3. Are all these ‘busy’ things that I think I need to do adding to my quality of life or taking away from it? Ask the same for your child — are all the extra classes they are taking making them happy or stressing them out? Can they pick 1 or 2 that they really excel at and want to do instead of 5?
  4. Are there any things I can let go of to give myself more time to just simply be?

I’ve spoken to parents of children whose schedules are so chock-a-block full of extra mural activities, PTA meetings and functions that it left my head spinning. Sometimes just dropping 1 or 2 things from their schedule can help them and you to function better. If, for instance, you drop a class like ‘painting/craft’ — you can always make time to do something creative with your child over the weekend (it will be a fun thing to do for you and your child will benefit from your company and attention).

I have also spoken with people in the corporate world whose routines and work hours are beyond ridiculous.

These ‘things’ that we think we must do are only choices. They are not set in concrete.

It Can Happen! Listen to this…

A close friend of mine, who worked in the corporate world for decades and was slowly killing herself through unreasonable work loads and shifts that extending into the early hours of the morning (and being on call over weekends), quit her job and is now living her dream!

She has just got back from a retreat/course in Mozambique where she has become a yoga teacher — something that she’s wanted to do for ages. She only thought she couldn’t do it when she had trapped herself in thinking that things were impossible.

Now she is making better choices.

I tried to convince her for years that her job was zapping the life from her but she didn’t want to see it at first. She had children to school/clothe/feed and mortgages to pay off — a reasonable argument but not without a solution.

  • What did she do when she quit her high paying job?

She started off slowly, doing things she enjoyed to do to make an income. She first started a home baking business and then went for her dream of becoming a yoga teacher. She down-scaled her home and sold off any excess debt incurring things.

  • Was she scared?

I’d say she was petrified but I think the thought of living an unfulfilled life scared her more.

She never had time before to enjoy the smaller things in life — watching sunsets, taking strolls on the beach with her dog or painting a picture.

3. Keeping it Simple

Life shouldn’t be just about mortgages, paying bills, keeping up with the Jones’s and dying. It needs to have the juicy things in there as well.

One of the biggest, juiciest things you could do for yourself to destress is to go BE IN NATURE. It is where our bliss is. It’s where our connection to Source is always available.

Related article: Science Proves What You Suspected: Walking in Nature is Good For Your Mental Health

The ‘busy-ness’ is not natural, the computers and electronics are not natural.

We can use them for certain things but don’t let them become your life, don’t let them take over. Most of the crankiness we experience is from sitting in front of a screen too long. It drains our very life force! Go be in nature if you want peace, happiness and bliss.

4. Know Your Limits!

Know where your cut off point is. If you’re stressed from a hard day at work, don’t come home and immediately swap your computer for a TV screen.

Take in some classical music, go for a walk around the neighborhood or in the park or even in your garden (if you have one), sip a glass of wine on your veranda and take in the sunset or the night sky — do something that will let you unwind naturally.

Watching TV may be something you think is relieving your stress but it is a form of zombification. It’s not a natural way to pacify your soul.

I’m not saying you can’t watch TV ever again. Just be more selective about what you watch, trim down how much time you sit in front of the box and try to take up a new activity like reading or painting instead of always reaching for the remote.

Remember: You can do most anything as long as it’s in balance.

Example: It’s okay to have an ice-cream cone every now and again — it can be a real treat. But when you have one or more a day, it’s no longer in balance and it is hardly a treat anymore.

5. Be Kind and Compassionate to Yourself

Don’t forget to include things like pampering yourself — whatever shape or form that may come in.

Take nice long, hot baths, get your kids to paint your toenails for you (if you’re a man, get them to give you a nice neck massage), take yourself and/or the family for picnics where iPhones are forbidden and give yourself guilt-free time and space to just sit and look at the wall if you want to (or read a book, enjoy your pets, think of 6 impossible things you can do tomorrow).

Ponder Time…

You don’t have to burn the candle at both ends or burn yourself out in this life. Find the balance, find the simplicity and find your key to a happy, natural, wholesome life.

If you feel you need to work hard to get the latest car, a grand house or the latest gadget/wardrobe then you may be sadly missing the point of life. You can still be rich and content in a log cabin driving a low cost reliable old skedonk and you’ll have far more time to enjoy the subtle pleasures in life that materialism may be robbing from you.

Think about it.

Burn out and into an early grave (possibly in vast amounts of debt) vs. living an abundant life your way NOW.

Positive Thinking Banner

“In order to carry a positive action we must develop here a positive vision.” — Dalai Lama

Stepping Up to the Plate

You’re probably familiar with the saying ‘what you think you create’ but how can you seriously filter every bad thought? There is a way, I promise. But before we delve into the amazing powers each of us possess, we have to get one thing straight…

There’s only one person responsible for what you think and do and that’s YOU.

If the thought of being the creator of your reality scares the willies out of you, then read on…

The Freedom to Be Happy

Can you remember learning how to swim or ride a bike?  Can you see how determined you were to succeed because you knew the pay-off was going to be huge?

You may have started off with water-wings, splashing about aimlessly— gulping in water — or peddling your heart out whilst trying to maintain your balance even with the training wheels on!  But that child never gave up.

Then what came next once the wheels were removed?  Probably scrapes and bruises the first week but did that deter you?  Did you give up then?  Probably not.  You wanted to ride!  You were hell-bent on feeling the wind on your face and the freedom that would bring with it.

Same goes for swimming — gliding about in the water refreshes and frees your body of weight.  You knew that swimming was going to be the biggest trip ever!

Where am I going with this?  Your thoughts need training wheels/water-wings if you want to experience the same freedom from negative thought.  And here’s how you’re going to do it…

Getting Real Right NOW

Here are a few things you can start to do today to become more aware and proactive with your thoughts:

  • Morning Motivation — When you wake up, give yourself 5-10 minutes to think about what how you want to see this day play out.  See if you can catch any worrisome or negative thoughts before they take hold of the exercise.  Put up a STOP sign in your mind and gently kick those blighters to the curb.  Then bring your focus back to visualizing your positive day ahead.  Try to smile and see/feel yourself enjoying this bright new day.  Emotions back your thoughts into manifestation. Read related article: How Good Are You Out of Bed?
  • Mind Mangle Cleanse — During the day (if you are but a mere mortal) you will probably find yourself slipping into worry, blame, anger, despair and an array of other harmful mind banter.  You may even find that your head is throbbing because of all the distorted ‘mind mangling’ that’s going on up there.  Here’s  your chance to hold up that STOP sign again and see if you can look at things from a different perspective.  Most of what we worry about never comes to pass and most judgments/situations when seen from a different angle can evoke empathy instead of anger.  See if you can alchemize your thinking — in other words, find the treasure in the trash. Read related article: 3 Ways to Alchemize Chaos
  • Marrying the Mind — When you start to get a hold on your thought stream and just how much power you DO have over it, you can start to have a better relationship with your thinking.  You are now in control and you can focus your inner dialogue on what serves you instead of calling in all the unwanted experiences.  Start your affirmations off with a strong ‘I am…’.  For example ‘I am going to have a great day today’, ‘I am going to have a safe trip’, etc.  Try avoid the phrases ‘I desire’ or ‘I want’ because it only brings more desiring and wanting for the future.  When you use ‘I am’ it is in the present tense and is happening right now not in some future timeline.
  • Re-Member — We often get lost in ‘doing’ and not ‘being’.  Try to remember all the things that make you happy and bring you joy. When you smile the world smiles with you.  So, remember to feel gratitude for life, nature and the people that make your world spin.  Look at every magnificent dawn or sunset as a blessing, every fragrant flower or birdsong as a gift, every smile or hug as a gesture of love and draw on those experiences when you’re in a negative frame of mind.  See if you can remove yourself from a negative situation and sit under a tree or listen to some soothing music.  Seek out those small but beautiful moments in your life and embrace them.  Hold them close to your chest and bring them out when you need to.  It’s bound to make you smile. You can always alter your reality at any time.  Don’t forget that.  If you choose to stay in the gloom, then just know that ‘this too shall pass’.
  • Over and Out — At the end of the day, review what happened and see if you can pick out any situations that you have turned around in reality.  Did you manage to have a good day?  Did things turn out like you affirmed in the morning?  Or close to?  Or can you do better tomorrow?  Keep trying and if you do see results it’s going to make you more determined — just like that little tike on the bicycle, gearing up for the next day’s practice.  Because you know that practice makes perfect!

“You cannot have a positive life and a negative mind.” — Joyce Meyer

You will get a grip on your oh-so-powerful thought stream and you’ll be able to eventually steer those thoughts to benefit your life in ways that will make your head spin — in a good way!

Now it’s up to you to give yourself a reason to smile every day.

Plot Twist! 3 Things You Desperately Need to Know About Game Changes

A friend posted a quirky quote to my Facebook wall the other day — it read:

When something goes wrong in your life just yell, “Plot Twist!” and move on.

I had a good laugh and then a light-bulb went on in the old noggin — that’s totally true and a helluva great life strategy!

Here’s why:

  • It was Shakespeare who cited that all the worlds a stage and all the men and woman merely players. Bearing this in mind, we are all in a kind of giant theatrical production and can, at any point, be the actor, director, script writer or producer.
  • Being part of the cast and crew is great news because whenever there is a twist in the tale or the plot thickens, we can interpretatively work it out and move along with the other players — yes, a bit like a pantomime.

How Can We Rewrite Our Scripts to Better Suit Our Needs?

I can’t help you with absolutely every twist and turn — inevitably life is going to throw a curve-ball, surprise or unexpected hurdle in the path of every living player — all I can do is offer perspective.

Here are 3 things to contemplate when you come across a “Plot Twist”:

  1. sub buttonReason — I know a lot of people despise the old adage, ‘everything happens for  a reason’…but, really it does. You may not be able to see the end result from where you’re standing but there is a greater scheme at work in our lives. If you want to call that major playwright God or your Higher Self, be my guest, but if there’s one thing I’ve noted in my life, it’s when I think I know what’s best for me and try to control my destiny — I get a plot twist. And I don’t think it’s a form of punishment, not at all. From my experiences these ‘plot twists’ have always worked better for me than anything I could have tried to dream up for myself. It’s like a slipway to your destiny. When we try to control everything, we can be very shortsighted. The universe is trying to work with you to get you what you want quicker than you could ever attempt. So when we seem to hit a bump in the road, it could be a detour to a better situation even if it may not look that way at first. Sometimes it takes years to see the outcome of one of these ‘twists’.
  2. Rhyme — this is when you end with a sound that corresponds to another. Huh? Oh come on…I had to work rhyme into reason! But seriously, we can write the scripts of our lives to some extent. If you encounter a plot twist and you feel things are unraveling at the seams, write your own ending! Use the curve ball to add an interesting turn in your life. In other words, from this moment on, get down on paper how you want to see this specific ‘scene’ turn out. Then inject the outcome with feeling, like it’s already on DVD. Rewind and replay this episode in your mind knowing that the conclusion is something you really want and can feel.
  3. Playfulness — seeing you’re already in a play, you may as well be playful! Or, in other words, find the humor in your plot twist. There’s always something to laugh about, it may as well be our pickles as much as our pleasures. Nothing kills a bad mood more than laughing. When you can do this you can be lighthearted. When you’re lighthearted it’s easier to find the up in the down. There’s nothing wrong with being down for a while but at some point, one must make the effort to get back up — humor is always going to be your greatest ally.

Have I lost the plot completely? Gone round the twist? You’ll have to wait for the sequel!

How Good Are You Out of Bed?

“I once had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall.” — Eleanor Roosevelt

You may be good (or, in the above case, not) in bed but how good are you at rising? Right, now that I have your attention…

This is Not About Sex

Sorry, I just had to come clean upfront.

This is about whether or not you’re a morning or a mourning person. Are you the kind of bright-eyed, bushy-tailed homo-erectus? Or, like me, someone who just can’t get up at the crack of dawn for love nor money.

Related article: 10 Smart and Efficient Ways to De-Clutter Your Room

As I lay in bed, one fine morn, contemplating how I could motivate myself up and at ’em, I came across this blog just strolling across the ethers waiting to be plucked and materialized for your benefit (hell, even if you are the above-mentioned chirpy squirrels — you might get something out of this!).

3 Ways to Have You Leaping Out From Under the Covers!

This is how I sometimes manage to get my sorry derriere out of the plush wonders of my warm and cozy cot, should they work for you I would be most pleased:

  1. Get Happy — my fuzzy place has always been with music. If I can listen to music and dance about the house whilst cleaning the toilet, I’m happy. No music and I’m a miserable git. So, the first thing that motivates me out of bed is the thought of putting on my favourite song. Do you have a morning song?

“Forget your troubles and just get happy. You better chase all your cares away. Sing Hallelujah, come on, get happy”

  2. Get Plotting — Director, direct! Visualize, while your still under the blankets, what this day is going to look like. Inject it with good feelings, positive thought streams and tell yourself this is going to be a great day. Dang, it could very well be the best day of your life so far! Whatever you have to face today, affirm that everything will go smoothly and that you’re going to have loads of fun and reasons to laugh. Whenever I do this visualization technique, it absolutely affects how my day starts to unfold (for the better, I guarantee!).  You will start to see just what an incredibly powerful creator of your experience you are. Related article: 16 Positive Affirmations for the Morning
  3. Get Dressed for Success! — Roxette hit the nail on the head. You can be as spiritual as punch but you’ve still got to get grooming. Why? You feel better when you look better. This is not as much a vanity thing as it is a common sense thing. You feel better when your house is clean and looks good, same goes for your appearance. If something you’re donning just doesn’t feel right, change! If you go about town all day feeling like a sausage that’s been squeezed into a pair of trousers, you’re not wearing the right pants! Don’t force a square into a round. Feeling good and clean about your appearance is vital to you stepping up to your day and saying, ‘booyah!’. I recently started gigging again and didn’t know what to wear on stage. I opted for a jeans and a t-shirt look at first but felt invisible. I then decided to bite the bullet and got togged up with jacket and boots and, boy, I felt sexy! The moment I stepped into that ‘role’ I felt on top of my game and people noticed too and started commenting on my look and performance. Dressing to how you feel does really make a difference.

Now it’s time to have that cuppa! 😉 Oh, and…

How Balanced Are You?

Bicycling Together by Cherie Roe Dirksen

Tipping the Scales

So, what is balance? It’s just the definition for an even distribution of something.  When you’re feeling out of kilter, it’s because you’re distribution is off whack. This can pertain to mind, body and spirit.

It sounds like a simple enough thing to get this so-called ‘balance’ in your life — it’s a no-brainer, right? Yes and no.

It can be simple enough. Example: ‘I’ve had too much pizza, tomorrow I’m only eating salad.’

That could be one way of bringing back equilibrium, in this case, to your body.

However, imbalance can creep up on you. Example: ‘I feel rotten…oh, maybe it’s because I’ve been on Pinterest (insert any other form of social media here) for 2 hours and my brain has turned to mush. I need to take a break and go potter in my garden.’

It can be darn right tough though with things that seem insurmountable and entrenched into the very fabric of our existence.

Example: ‘I work so much I haven’t got time for myself. It’s so hard to feel balanced.’ or ‘I know I smoke and drink too much, I feel it in my body but I don’t know what else to do to unwind.’

Trust in Your Innate Sense of Wisdom

A lot of the time our bodies/hearts whisper to us, hint at us, scream at us that something is wrong.

Our job is to listen.

We should endeavor to inject our awareness into our bodies, if there is discomfort — or into our hearts, if there is lack, sorrow or fear.

Here are some things you can do every day for more balance and harmony in your life:

  • Meditate — you know it’s good for you but do you ever get around to doing it? Meditation takes on many forms. You don’t have to sit in the lotus position to meditate ‘properly’ or go into transcendental states of consciousness for hours to achieve a quiet mind. Meditating could be to simply sit in your garden and listen to the birds or the wind. Meditating is something personal. Find the brand that works for you. Read more here: 5 Easy Steps to Meditating (No Lotus Position Required)
  • Spin — Barbara Marciniak spoke of this in her book ‘Bringers of the Dawn— Teachings from the Pleiadians’. It’s a practice I often use to get myself on track. It apparently enhances the spinning of your chakra system. The technique is to hold out your thumb and focus on that as you spin, slowly at first, 33 times — from left to right. Then you anchor yourself at the end by bringing your palms together, at chest level, and press whilst keeping your eyes open. You can read more about the exact process HERE.
  • Breath work — yup, we breathe automatically so why must we focus on that? Because most of us breathe very shallowly. Our bodies actually need focused, deep breathing to function at optimus prime. You can read more about that here:  What is Your Quality of Breath — Did You Know You Could Be Starving Your Body of Oxygen?
  • Eat Right — you are what you eat and all that blah blah…yeah, I know you’ve heard it all before but, seriously, it’s the truth! You’ve got to get real about what you put in that divine little temple of yours. It is in my personal opinion that you can still enjoy those ‘naughty’ things in life every once in a while, as long as you exercise (literally) self-control. I enjoy a glass of wine or a beer every now and again but let’s face it, if it goes out of balance and one drink becomes 5 you’re going to topple your equipoise. Too much of any one thing — even if it’s healthy — is not balanced. See what happens if you eat too many carrots…I dare you (*disclaimer: no don’t)! My husbands aunt once went on a carrot bender (I’m telling the truth!) and she turned orange. I kid you not.
  • Move — your body has muscles ergo it was made for movement. Walk, run, skip, hop, dance the fandango…do whatever it takes to build up a little sweat each day and keep that bod in tip top shape. Exercise really helps to maintain a healthy balance in your life. And if you work all day and are too tired to workout then take the stairs at the office, take a walk to the nearest park at lunchtime. There’s always something you can do to get active.
  • Watch Your Thoughts — a balanced body needs a balanced mind. You can eat organic, breathe deeply until you see cows come clambering home, exercise every God-given day, spin your butt off and yoga yourself into a pretzel to no avail if your headspace ain’t stepping up to the plate. If you find yourself on a negative downstream of thoughts, see if you can stop yourself and try to bring balance to the inner dialogue by counterbalancing the worry. In other words, start visualizing what you want to see happen and then let it go. Read more about how to here: 10 Ways To Transition From A Negative To A Positive Thinker

Try these things out and see how it makes you feel. If you can’t do every point — don’t sweat it! Do what you can.

Balance is something we all work at all the time. The key is to regularly scan ourselves for imbalance and to keep gifting ourselves with more quiet time.

The Greatest Task That Lies Before the Awakened Human Being

Butterfly on White Poppy by Cherie Roe Dirksen

“The law of attraction is infallible, and every single person is getting what they are asking for, even though most of the time each person is not aware that they are asking for what they don’t want. There is such absolute beauty in the law, which is so responsive and giving in every single moment so that we can experience our lives.

The law never changes — we must learn how to live in harmony with the law. That is the greatest task for every single human being.”

~ Rhonda Byrne (The Secret Daily Teachings)

You got to love how the ‘law’ works, right? No? Are you pulling your hair out at some of the things you’re manifesting?

Upside Down and Inside Out

Yesterday I was putting my video blog together. It’s usually a wee bit of a task and I’m prepared for that. I spent hours writing the forward blog and then got to editing and splicing the footage I’d filmed the day before.

For some strange reason, the footage came out sideways. No big deal as you can rotate it in the movie editor. My eyebrow raised. Was there some sort of hidden message in this for me today? (some of you may understand this form of questioning every nuance that is happening to you as some sort of inner reflection trying to out itself. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about — just put it down to certain madness).

I pieced the whole thing together and exported the video for YouTube. Uh…the whole thing was totally out of sync.

I went back to my editing dashboard — everything there was in total sync. Did the whole thing again. Still out of sync. I did it 3 times to no avail. My blood was boiling as I’m about to go on a trip today until Sunday and I simply don’t have time for these games.

I decided to give it a break and start my newsletter which was also due out yesterday. Another mammoth task that I don’t particularly look forward to (perhaps a clue?).

After hours of working on this, it was time to hit the send button. But what was this? My whole newsletter was suddenly out of alignment. There were boxes and sidebars in erroneous places! Oh lord!

Time to Stop, Drop and Reassess

Okay, at this point I was past mild panic and was heading straight for losing it completely. My husband reminded me to ‘take a knee’ before I blew a fuse. So I went to lie down to try and quiet the old noggin.

As I was looking up at the ceiling trying to do my breathing exercises (through flared and excited nostrils, I might add!), it hit me.

  1. I was in a hurry — I was attracting anxiety
  2. I was putting unnecessary duress on myself by demanding I complete these tasks today — attracting more stress and anxiety

Well, problem solved (almost). I was putting out general chaos and that’s what I was getting. Everything was topsy turvy thanks to me and my energy.

I had to stop and calm down before understanding what and why I was attracting mischief into my day. When I came to peace with my odd manifestations, I felt more in flow and in harmony with my projections. I accepted them and began to change the energy and move on.

After my epiphany, I sat down with my diary. I still had a couple of hours this morning to write a new blog (*a-hem*…this one), so, I reassigned the task and set my alarm to go off an hour early.

I already felt better. I had to still pack and get things ready for my trip but I did that with ease.

A Small Titbit About Synchronicity

I’m going to end this off by saying that the quote I started with came to me tsubcribe buttonhrough sheer synchronicity.

Read related article: Why You Need to Pay Attention to Synchronicity Now!

I was pondering, whilst packing, what I should write the ‘new’ blog about. I thought that maybe I should be honest and write about my little meltdown (but I thought perhaps my fiasco had the potential to bore you to tears).

I strode over to my bookshelf and ‘The Secret Daily Teachings’ lurched out at me. I picked it up and randomly opened it at the quote at the top of this article.

Read related article: How Weird, Little Synchronicities Can Actually Be the Bomb!

After reading it I started to chuckle. It was pretty much what happened to me during the course of the day and it looked like my meltdown was the very thing I needed to share with all of you upon this very morn.

I’d like to think that there must be someone out there who needed to hear this. If not, you’ve just wasted a good few minutes reading about superfluous misadventure.

3 Ways to Use Magical Words to Create Miraculous Lives

Need a Constant Flow of Money? I’ve Got Something For You…

Serenity by Cherie Roe Dirksen

Money, Money, Money

Oh boy, ABBA got it right — it is a rich man’s world!  Financial flow is a sticky and uncomfortable topic.  We all want a constant stream of income to live well, whatever your version of ‘well’ is.

“Money is only a tool. It will take you wherever you wish, but it will not replace you as the driver.” — Ayn Rand

Personally, I care not for Porches, Gucci handbags or Mansions — I want money to travel and enjoy the finer things in life (haute cuisine, theater and Belgian chocolate are more up my alley). But no matter what you want to do with your money, we all want that financial security at the end of the day because money brings choice — the spice of life!

Even better, we want to earn this money in a capacity that fulfills us. A show of hands from all the people who want to earn cold hard cash doing what they love!

So with that in mind, I knocked up this little visual money affirmation.  I hope it helps to shift your attitude or feelings towards money. Give it a try — you’ve got nothing to lose.

“You will be a failure, until you impress the subconscious with the conviction you are a success. This is done by making an affirmation which ‘clicks.'” — Florence Scovel Shinn

After all, the sky is the limit!  We are the only ones who put restrictions on our earning capacity (ask Richard Branson).

Pin it to your vision board (I have :D), save it as a desktop wallpaper or print it out and stick it to your forehead — anything to hammer this affirmation home!

Let’s do this together and see if it works!  Here it is (see below picture for download instructions):

Doubting Thomas?

If you still have reservations as to the power of affirmations, I don’t blame you. I, too, struggled with just repeating phrases over and over in the hope that they would come true.

That kind of parrot fashion manifesting didn’t seem to strike a chord within me until I questioned:

  • all my inner dialogue — I got real about the thoughts I was projecting when I wasn’t in affirmation or meditation mode,
  • my feelings — were they in alignment with what I was saying or was there a tampering emotion emerging that needed to take a back seat? Aka — doing a wealth affirmation but feeling poor, and…
  • what was it I truly wanted — sometimes I would think I wanted something but probing further into my desire, there was an underlying reason for it. In other words — I wanted money only to realize I wanted to go on holiday or buy some new clothes, etc.

3 Ways to Tap Into the Matrix of All Possibility

Dreaming Collage by Cherie Roe Dirksen

“My brain is only a receiver, in the Universe there is a core from which we obtain knowledge, strength and inspiration. I have not penetrated into the secrets of this core, but I know that it exists.”
Nikola Tesla

I came across the above quote on my Facebook feed this morning. It was a well-timed synchronicity as it’s a concept I’ve been mulling over the past few days.

Related article: Why Synchronicity Can Change Your Life

My ruminating was about music and the impact it has on our lives. Many musicians claim that they literally pluck songs out of the ether. I know this to be true as my husband is a musician and some of his greatest songs — he told me — were ‘given’ to him by, what Gregg Braden referred to as, the ‘Divine Matrix‘ (in his book of the same title).

The Cosmic Menu

Ideas, music, inventions, art — all these things have been known to come to creatives whilst meditating, dreaming or daydreaming. 3 really important ways of tapping into this field of potentiality is to:

  1. Meditate — surrender all thinking and let your mind take a break. See what comes up in the space between your thoughts (hint: that’s where the magic lies!).
  2. Daydream — children do it all the time and they have some pretty inventive ideas (and the most fun too)! Get into the habit of letting yourself daydream every day. Let your mind wander and see what emerges.
  3. Dream Journaling — try to make a habit of writing down your nightly sojourns in the outer realms — there could be a treasure trove of insights in there for you if you train yourself to remember your dreams. You can even declare/ask that you want to have direction/inspiration in your dreams before you turn in for the night.

Original Rehash

Tapping into the ‘matrix’ in this way also begs the question: Is anything ever original? Yes and no.

Matrix Icon

Did you like this article? Don’t forget to pin it 😀

If everything is in the ‘ether’ already (or the Mind of God or whatever other phrase rocks your boat) then nothing is original but what is original is you and your take on it.

You’re a ‘one of a kind’ — as unique as your fingerprints. So when the ‘quantum muse in the sky’ selects you to manifest a creative package, you will channel the information through your unique experiences/soul/spirit and give the world a truly unoriginal original 🙂

Of course, there are many musicians (or people who call themselves such) who channel nothing of the sort. This goes for any genre really — there are a few artistic duds coming directly from the ego and being controlled by the head not the heart.

“Music isn’t something to think about, at least initially. Eventually it’s got to cover the spectrum, but especially with rock ‘n’ roll, first it has to touch you somewhere else. It could be the groin; it could be the heart; it could be the guts; it could be the toes. It’ll get to the brain eventually. The last thing I’m thinking about is the brain. You do enough thinking about everything else.”Keith Richards in an interview about songwriting

7 Ways You Can Conquer Stress

Stewing in Your Juices

I’m normally quite a chilled person. Nothing phases me. Until…

  • I take on too much work
  • I get into my ‘yes’ mode and make arrangements and dates that clog my diary
  • I volunteer my services willy-nilly
  • My housework starts to mount
  • My ‘to do’ list grows around the garden (especially as I’m trying to do the whole sustainability thing)
  • I have awesome ideas but have to implement them (adding to the head clutter and time/schedule disaster)

I’m sure you can probably relate to most of the above. Then what happens is that chilled out person who thought they could take on the world in a heart beat starts to panic.

The Signs of a Meltdown

The walls of my diary close in and anxiety starts to rear its ugly head.

  • Panic attacks
  • Sweaty palms
  • Emotional outbursts (usually involving tears)
  • Temper whirlwinds
  • Depression
  • Feeling defeated and impotent
  • Losing it over the smallest things

We can experience the above on a smaller or larger scale, depending on the level of anxiety and what looms ahead.

Okay, so what can be done?

Anxiety Be Gone!

Well, I’m trying to give myself a well-deserved pep talk here ’cause I suddenly realized the other day that I was slipping off the cliff of the ‘work’ I had piled up.

Amid my darkest moment, I came to the conclusion that it was going to be done whether I fretted about it or not. And what couldn’t be done was just not going to be done. It’s really quite simple.

So, on a practical level, try to:

  1. Get what’s in your head down onto paper (this works a treat!)
  2. Now you can make a priority list
  3. Schedule your time wisely and you’ll find you can fit a lot into your day
  4. Don’t stress about how much you’ve got to do by getting tangled up in the future tasks — concentrate on the task at hand
  5. Read no. 4 again.
  6. Yip…read no. 4 and 5 again!
  7. As Yoda said, ‘Do or do not’ — in this context, do what you must do and stop whinging about it. Have you ever stopped to think how much time we waste worrying or bitching about what we have to do instead of doing it?
How to handle stress

Did you like this article? Don’t forget to pin it 🙂

Example: I have a mountain of clothes to pack away. Every morning I get up and look at this mountain and feel despair. It affects me greatly. I don’t like a messy bedroom — that’s where I’m supposed to go to relax, not stare at a heap of rags.

What not to do: Whine about the job. Look at the heap in deflated impotence. Complain about how much other stuff you have to do. Sit and have a cup of coffee and catch up on your Facebook feed. Or, in my case, write a blog about it, whilst — out of the corner of my eye — I can see into my bedroom and the washing pile is staring happily back at me.

Solution: Do it. A 5 minute rant could have you half way done by now. You can have that cuppa AND pack the washing away (what a novel idea!).

There is actually plenty of time in a day when you use it wisely. The above example is small fish compared to some of the whoppers we have to face in life and prepare for. However, inevitably, we are remarkable creatures with an ability to squeeze a lot into our lives when our minds are prepared well enough.

Let’s go back to no. 4, 5 and 6 of the tips list. This tip has helped me exponentially over the past few days. I’m a Virgo and a control freak. When my schedule starts mounting up and I feel like I’m losing control — it’s a blood bath! I have the tendency of looking ahead at what I have to do tomorrow, the next day and so on into infinity. This makes matters worse.

All we have to concentrate on is what lays before us today. You can deal with tomorrow, well, tomorrow! If it’s really a pickle, then set aside 10-15 minutes of today to work out a game-plan for tomorrow so you can at least get some sleep.

If there is ever something to remember about anxiety it’s this: one step at a time! You’re amazing and you’ll do it all, only if you tackle what’s in front of you now. As my dear mother used to say, ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’.

And now for something completely different…a little humour to liven up your stress monster:

3 Valuable Understandings to Help You Kick Fear Addiction

Dangerous Love by Cherie Roe Dirksen

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” — Franklin D. Roosevelt

Creeping in Through the Cracks

Fear is a mighty strong emotion. It could be said to be the driving force behind our collective impotence.

Why does it have so much force in our lives?

It get’s flung at us constantly via the media — TV, movies, adverts, the general public, etc.

And when we’re not ‘out in the world’ overhearing all the crime statistics and getting fed bad news from people on the street, we rush home to fall into the escapism of our daily Facebook feed because there’s nothing there to be fearful of, right?

Wrong! We get a slipstream of everything that’s messed up in the world (barring, of course, those sweet little kitty meme’s and quirky quote feeds — although even those are starting to take their toll on social media addicts).

One has even come to fear the next ‘Be Like Bob’ post or cradle in terror at the thought of another cat in a pot photo. All jokes aside…

Getting Down and Dirty

We need to take responsibility for what we give our attention to and for how we allow, yes allow, the media to manipulate our emotions and pervade the airwaves with such repugnant negativity.

We are the ones giving credence to and creating our own fears — we can literally asphyxiate ourselves with things to fret or find fear about.

Every time you give into fear you feed negativity and give it more power. Fear is a choice, like it or not.

Related article: How To Deal With Your Fear of the Unknown

The Different Types of Fear

There are, of course, many different types of fear but they are all grounded in the act of giving your power away.

When we come up against fear, we are presented with a chance to be aware, brave and face up to it.  Get to the nitty-gritty and uncover the truth about why we are so afraid or uncomfortable (i.e. the fear of heights/snakes/natural disasters/terrorism/clowns/Uncle Sam/Aunt Betty/’fill in the blank’).

When we mine ourselves for the ‘why’s’ and ‘what-have-you’s’ of our own fears, we can face them and move through them.

If there is nothing we can do but send our love, compassion, empathy or prayers to a fearful situation, then do that! Stop giving rise to a tidal wave of negative emotions.

Either do something about your fear (fight or flight), make an effort to get to the bottom of why you feel a certain way (be it through meditation, inner-examination, therapy, etc) or stop thinking about it — turn your thoughts around!

What you think about you bring about — your attention, good or bad — always feeds the probability giving it more gusto. So stop gusting away at those fearful ruminations!

Incapacitating Fear

In order to work fear back into the light, we need to find its polar opposite — LOVE.  When you inject love into fear it evaporates — it has no stronghold in the presence of love.

But how does one start projecting love when ones knees are knocking?

Well, let’s address what is called heart-centered living — I’m sure you’ve all probably heard that word by now.  People are throwing it about a lot these days (including me — guilty as charged!). As airy-fairy and lace-clad as heart-centered living may seem — there is a nugget of gold in the finding!

Related article: How to Use Your Heart Wisdom

Quickening the Heart

When you work through your heart, based primarily upon how you are feeling about something (as opposed to working through your mind and how you think about something), you are guided by a more truthful resonance of picking up subtle nuances from your surroundings rather than being directed by what reason dictates.

So even though we are in need of our minds and pensiveness, we have been dominated by left-brain thinking for centuries.  A shift is occurring, not to totally disregard our thoughts but to channel through the heart and then process through the mind.  In other words, not just to go straight to the head and bypass our hearts or how we are feeling intuitively.

Rationality can be useful but it has, in some cases, left our instinctive abilities to wither in its stoic presence.  Sometimes our ‘logic’ has actually hindered our bliss. This could be because ‘society dictates otherwise’ or ‘the norm is to be…’  — well, be careful of whose ‘norm’ you are conceding to.

It’s that age old conflict between science and spirituality (left-brain versus right-brain) — the solution to which is using both in balance.

Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live.” — Dorothy Thompson

3 Key factors to transmute fear are remembering to:

1. Spend Your Emotions Wisely

Don’t buy into fear.  Think of all the things you have feared in the past — did any of those worries come true?  If yes, did you survive it?  I take it you did if you are reading this.  The energy or vibration of fear draws that which you worry about into your life.  Have you ever been with someone who is not afraid of dogs but you are.  When a dog comes running at you both, it goes for you, my sweaty-palmed friend, not your companion! Why?  Animals, as you probably know, can sense fear — so can the universe and the universe is impartial.  It acquiesces to what it thinks you desire via your frequency output.  If your emotions are dialed into fear, expect life to become frightening.  The only thing you should fear is fear itself (thanks, President Roosevelt!).

2. Know That Love Conquers All

Get used to being tuned into your feelings and steering them to safer shores.  When you are in fear, inject some love into your aura by thinking of someone you love, your favorite pet, the infectious chuckle of your child or grandchild or a blissful memory. Change your vibration! This is how you get to expand on the feeling of love in the face of fear.  Show fear that you have too much love in your heart.  Fear is a mental construct in the absence of love.  Trust your instincts and obey your heart. Send love and compassion to all those who suffer or who are in situations you fear to be in. Even send love to the perpetrators of heinous crimes. Why? Because you won’t solve hate by chucking more venom at a situation. When you can send love to the victims and perpetrators alike, you are diffusing the energy and making a space for healing and learning to occur. The perpetrators of violent crimes will not ‘get better’ with negativity, hateful thoughts or jail sentences (that is not to say that they shouldn’t have to ‘pay’ for their crimes — we all have to face the music for our actions) but, in sending love and compassion, there may be a glimmer of hope that they will have a true awakening to spirit and show remorse or have a change of heart.

3. Take Control

Short, sweet and to the point.  If you want to be self-empowered then the first things you need are awareness and the ability to take responsibility for your actions.  These two fundamental principles are gateways for you to realize your inherent potential.  You are a co-creator, take responsibility for that and take control from this point onwards.

What Could Possibly Be More Powerful Than Positive Thinking? The Answer May Surprise You!

Gaia by Cherie Roe Dirksen

We Just Can’t Help It!

It’s January 2016 and it’s that time of year when most of us are all revved up and ready for change — we, the hopefuls, dream of stepping up our game in the new months that are about to unfold. It’s all quite exciting.

Then a few weeks into the new year — well, you know the story — some of us get disillusioned and stumble off that rickety bandwagon. Our hopes, dreams and willpower get kicked to the curb and we continue with the same old same old wondering why every year feels like a sequel to Groundhog Day.

Towards the end of last year, I overheard some folks complaining about people who make new years resolutions and all that ‘blah blah blah’…then I saw a quote on Facebook that made me laugh. I’m paraphrasing here but it went something like, ‘I’m not making any new years resolutions ’cause, let’s face it, who likes a skinny, rich woman?’

I even tried to stay away from making resolutions this year but I just couldn’t resist the pull…

Getting Real…For the Umpteenth Time!

I’m no stranger to the Law of Attraction and positive thinking and I’ve applied them to most sections of my life with great success. However, I also have some areas of my life that I’ve applied them too with little or sporadic success.

What I mean by this is that I can achieve something one month but can’t pull it off the next – it wavers (in this specific arena) and then I begin to doubt myself. And I know I’m not the only one experiencing this.

The last months of 2015 had me catching a huge wake up call.

Positive thinking is fantabulosis. But positive feeling is the vooma that lights that ignition! Some of you have probably heard of this already. I had. A gazillion times before as a matter of fact. I know this and yet I was still deluding myself and avoiding how I was truly feeling about the things I was trying to create.

Introspection and Facing a Hard Reality

My ‘a-ha’ moments with regards to manifesting finances come and go and never seem to ‘stick’. I have huge epiphanies, things go great and then I trip and fall into a rut.

I took a very serious look at my manifesting behaviors over this past year and was quite shocked to see that I was sliding down a slippery slope of limited thinking — falling back into an abyss of past experience that was dictating my future.

So I hopped to it and created a new vision board for myself in December. When I stepped back to look at it it made my eyes hurt. It was all over the place! It was so helter-skelter that I felt like crying. Why? It was such a huge reflection of what was going on in my head.

My brains and ambitions at the end of 2015 felt like watery, scrambled eggs.

Cracking the Shell

I took a long, hard, penetrating look at my life and thoughts and realized that all the positive thinking in the world couldn’t help me if I felt so ‘out of control’ on the inside.

I do positively affirm a lot of things when I wake up and even during the day. I try to steer my thoughts to positive outcomes but I was lacking in one thing. I wasn’t checking in with myself to see if I was truly feeling positive about my situation.

I got real and figured out that even though I have set goals, vision boards, do affirmations — the whole toot — I was not always feeling the outcome. There was still a little lack in my gut (your solar plexus doesn’t lie!). A little twinge to say, ‘you might not (fill in the blank)’.

That made me think further.

How did I feel about manifesting enough money for next months bills?

Exhausted. My brain was jet-lagged. I hadn’t really accomplished what I wanted to this year and I felt like I didn’t even know what I wanted for next year. It felt overwhelming and it was reflecting in my vision board

Their is No Space For Doubt

One think you need to know...

Did you like this article? Don’t forget to pin it 😀

I set to work trying to simplify my board. I got it down to the top 10 things I wanted this year. I stood back this time and felt relief wash over me. I could feel the shift within.

It was as though all the straggling thoughts had been filed neatly for me to gaze upon and the feeling was being upgraded.

I had been too chaotic in my thoughts and it was manifesting in my life through my feelings of being out of control. I was even trying to control how I manifested things. My new board reflected what I wanted and I decided to relinquish how I was going to get it.

Within 2 days of me completing the new and upgraded vision for 2016, I manifested one of the things on that board. It involved me bartering one of my paintings for it but, low and behold, the damn thing was working!

Within a week, I had manifested another thing on my board.

What changed?

I not only do my affirmations every day now but I make myself feel what it’s like to be on that holiday in Italy, sipping red wine and I can feel the wind zipping through my hair as I cycle down the main road on my new mountain bike.

Before I thought I had to concentrate on manifesting money to be able to buy things and experiences but I know now that the universe works in mysterious ways.

I’ve had people give me things that I thought I’d have to buy or spontaneously treat me to dinner or even trade with me for mutually beneficial gain. It’s opened my eyes up to new ways of manifesting and has given me a new hope that this year is going to be epic.

All I have to do is feel it. I hope you get to feel your way to all the things you dream about doing and having!

Love vs Fear: Which One Are You Going To Let Win?

Are You Carrying More Than You Need To?

Garfield-the-Cat-by-Cherie-Roe-Dirksen-680x385

“It’s hard to be clear about who you are when you are carrying around a bunch of baggage from the past. I’ve learned to let go and move more quickly into the next place.” ~Angelina Jolie

When you’re sojourning overseas and you’ve got tons of luggage — it’s a real schlep, right? It’s much easier airport hopping when you’re traveling light. And a lot less to think or worry about too.

Life is no different.

Let Go Of the Bone And Try Something Fresher

You can’t expect to be light-hearted if you’re holding on to the past.

There’s a prime piece of T-bone steak waiting in his bowl but the Rottweiler is hanging on to last night’s dried up, old bone. Sound familiar?

“You can’t reach for anything new if your hands are full of yesterdays junk” ~Louise Smith

Letting go of our past isn’t easy — no-one said it was. No matter if you are grieving a physical loss or an emotional wound — we all have ‘baggage’. Our job is to unpack it.

You don’t want to go the rest of your life carrying a backpack, do you? Not only will it give you back ache but it will also slow you down, tire you out and rob you of your present joy.

Baggage Was Never a Forever Thing

Your past was never meant to be carried as a burden. What happened to you — no matter what it was — all had a soul teaching for you to move through. Your job is to get the lesson.

If you’ve experienced abuse — perhaps your discovery is that you found your strength to move on or  your power to forgive. If you’ve experienced death — maybe your pearl of wisdom came in the shape and form of learning to let go in love or to find peace in vulnerability.

These are merely suggestions as we all have vastly different reasons for going through certain life experiences.

Every time I look back at the tougher times of my life, I can see there was always an illuminating teaching for me. You can very rarely feel it when you’re in it. It takes time to work through grief and heartache — which is perfectly natural and everyone’s period of mourning is different — just don’t get lost in the past.

A Personal Metaphor For Loss

In 2002 my husband and I moved to the UK and stayed there for 3  years. It was a thrilling experience but I did miss my homeland.

After a year of being there, I lost my father. It was such a devastating experience and I had to catch an emergency flight back to South Africa to help my mother with the necessaries.

When I flew back to the UK I began to shop. I bought everything and anything — it was pure compulsive behaviour. And to make matters worse, I shipped it all back to my mother to keep for me for when I returned, which she did.

I spent more posting the boxes of ‘stuff’ back than I paid for the items…true madness.

When I returned home for good, my mother led me to her garage where all these boxes were stacked to the ceiling. I couldn’t believe how much I’d sent (and spent)!

I went through all the treasures I had sent myself to find it was all…well, for want of a better word…crap!

I didn’t need it and ended up giving most of it away.

The Diamond in the Tale

What I did learn, in hindsight, was that I was filling a void left by my father’s death — shopping was my coping mechanism.

I could have kept the boxes but I knew that would have been holding on to the past and those boxes would turn out to be made of cement, holding me back and filling space I needed for my future.

It was the most freeing thing to do when I gave all that junk away. It even turned out to make two very special ladies extremely happy!

As I was clearing out the boxes from the garage, two Xhosa ladies came walking up the road selling beautiful hand-made baskets.

They saw some of the things from my boxes and asked if I would consider trading with them. I told them they could have the stuff but they insisted on giving me two awesome baskets. They literally danced and sang in joy back down the street with boxes piled on top of their heads.

I still have those baskets and every time I look at them I am reminded of this lesson with a smile on my face.

There is gold to be mined in our experiences — good or bad. Your job is to find out what your soul wanted to take from the experience. Then leave that bag, don’t check it in at your next stop. Live lighter.

Love vs Fear: Which One Are You Going To Let Win?

HeartShaped Love by Cherie Roe Dirksen

No More Unconscious Creating

We are now firmly rooted in a new consciousness on Earth. As awesome as boldly going where no man has gone before is, we still have a major topic we need to address – fear.

In the absence of love we are left with fear. It’s as simple as: no light = dark.

When we no longer trust our instincts we give in to fear.  You can see fear as an illusion and only becomes a perceived reality when you let it become real for you.

Illusion versus Perceived Reality

To illustrate this point, lets take the illusory nature of assumption (for more about assumption, CLICK HERE).

When you assume something  you do not possess all the facts or truth of the matter at hand.  When you form an idea of what is happening you are assuming (which is an illusory concept).

Then when your assumption has rooted itself in your psyche as the truth, you give it form and this can lead either to the creation of your assumption or the suffering of your ego based on the assumption.  And all this was made possible through an illusion.

“When you worry about something you are future-projecting a negative outcome. “

Fear works in much the same way.  Worry is a form of fear that most of us are altogether too familiar with.  When you worry about something you are future-projecting a negative outcome.

Related article: Love Is Stronger than Fear: 6 Ways Americans Are Defying Islamaphobia

Sometimes the situations we worry about never come to pass.  Worry is an illusion. As the famous saying goes, worry only robs you of your present joy.

When I talk about the NOW or present moment awareness, I am referring to the point of acceptance that one arrives at when there is an absence of fear.  There are many roads that take you to fear such as worry, anxiety, stress, panic, anger, resentment, revenge, etc but they all are rooted in fear.

So, succinctly, fear is the root on the scale of negativity.  The opposite of fear would be love.

Good Ol’ Gushy Love

The emotions that lead you to love are joy, happiness, elation, bliss, mirth, laughter, etc and these are all rooted in love.  The ultimate root on the scale of positivity.  The light and dark aspects of existence.

Without either of these perspectives we would live a very dull life.  We need a basis of comparison, in other words, how would you know not to put your hand in the fire if you had never been burnt.

How would you know just how perfect your body felt if you hadn’t had that painful full-body, extra strength Thai sports massage?

“If you choose to let fear take a back seat you will see the world open up to you in ways you never imagined.”

We need comparisons to ascertain what we do want.

Fear is generally not wanted but it certainly gains momentum — it’s a tricky little blighter.  The thing is, and always will be, are you aware?

When you can become aware of your fears you can deal with them.  If you are playing the victim role, then perhaps you are quite content to be in a cocoon of misery – the choice remain yours.

  • Do you want this?
  • Is there a better way?

There is always choice and we are always co-creating our lives.  If you choose to let fear take a back seat you will see the world open up to you in ways you never imagined.

When you can master how you spend your energy and who you spend it on, you won’t allow yourself to be sucked into the various dramas that people create.  When you no longer fear living, you will begin to truly live in a way that embraces every moment.

Be Free

True freedom can only be found on the path that leads to the root of love — the knowing that all is well and the trusting that the universe is organized and you are a part of that.

“We all need to have our eyes wide open to what we are manifesting and creating on a day-to-day, if not minute-to-minute, basis. “

Look out into the universe.  Can you see how there is structure in everything out there?  There is the cycle of life, death and even a bit of chaos thrown in-between but there always seems to be an order and organization to the universe itself.

Planets aren’t shaped like bananas or cubes, they are round (or at least they were when I wrote this).  Most of them are in orbit around a sun.

There are, of course, some free-for-alls that do not have a sun to orbit and drift through space but what a wonderful metaphor for how some of us feel!  You know, the macrocosm reflecting the microcosm and vice versa.

Bashing Fear on the Nose

Fear is something that we all deal with daily.  No matter what label you put on the emotion – if it is negative or coming from a lower vibration, it boils down to fear.  We now need to march straight up to it and bash it on the nose.

“Everything you experience is a manifestation of your thought.”

There is no more time for unconscious creating in this world.

Related article: Consciousness Creates Reality: New Thoughts = New Action = New Life

We all need to have our eyes wide open to what we are manifesting and creating on a day-to-day, if not minute-to-minute, basis.

Everything you experience is a manifestation of your thought.  Everything from the bird in the tree that is singing to the cup of coffee that sits next to you.

Most people just think about manifestations as being on the bigger scale.  ‘Oh, I know I manifested that really needy relationship’ or ‘Yes, I acknowledge that I my anger could have caused the accident’ but do we really consider even the smallest of creations.  If not, you should – because there is no chance in our world – everything is co-created and manifested through collective or individual consciousness.

Hard pill to swallow?  Good!  Nothing worth knowing comes to you on a silver platter.

Fear not, all is well.

3 Tips on How to Stay Relatively Calm…Especially Over the Festive Season!

DYGI-by-Cherie-Roe-Dirksen-680x499

Christmas Fireworks!

It’s the season to be jolly — dust off the mistletoe and pucker up for that long line of friends and family just waiting to be welcomed into your house for another round of yearly festivities.

“Christmas is a time when you get homesick, even when you’re home.”
– Carol Nelson

However, there is a darker side to the holidays (ho ho….humbug).

Being within close proximity to certain friends and family members over vast periods of celebratory time can lead to some festering issues, mounting stress and hair-raising quibbles.

Invariably, some wild words could get slung about the Christmas dining table!

We’ve all probably experienced our fair share of family squabbling during holiday gatherings but how can you ride out the storm without having a huge blow-out before you’ve even got to sample that hot, steamy Christmas pudding?

Secret Santa’s Little Helper List

“A Christmas miracle is when your family doesn’t get into a single argument all day.”
– Melanie White

Remaining calm and peaceful at family reunions is no small feat — it requires a lot of awareness, internal reflection and non-reaction.

The button-pushers will always try to work their Christmas magic but you’re going to have a Santa sack full of antidotes. Below you’ll find zap-it-in-the-butt recipes to counteract disaster:

  1. Calm Christmas

Did you like this article? Don’t forget to pin it 🙂

Reign (deer) It In — if someone is working on your last nerve ask yourself if you really need to react and cause a potential argument. Can you simply smile and walk away? See if you can be the still presence and avoid a hot chestnut from slipping down your trunks. It’s a great test to be non-reactive — can you pour ice over the coals this Christmas? Sometimes, when I feel overwhelmed by chaotic vibes I go and take 5 in the bathroom — just sit and take 3 long deep breaths and restore your essential energy. Walking away and creating space or a break in a quarrel can be the very thing needed to diffuse it.

  2. Root (beer) Yourself — ground yourself wherever possible. Take deep breaths and root yourself into the present moment. When you are quiet, calm and centered, you move into the space of still presence where you can become the observer and this can be a very illuminating place to be. You might even get some clarity on certain behavioral patterns in others which may lead to a better understanding. When we are being seduced to the dark side of arguments it’s better to keep shtum unless you have something incredibly significant to say — otherwise, you will only be adding fuel to the yule logs. Remember that most of what you say — in these heated situations — isn’t being heard because there is too much tumult around and ears tend to close whilst mouths tend to flap. Being the still observer offers you a way to stay in control of your emotions and gauge what needs to be said, done or to identify if this is your cue to take a stroll around the garden or build a snowman.
  3. Spread Good Cheer(s) — we all love our family and friends, but if you find yourself in a situation where you truly cannot contribute anything but loving them unconditionally, then do just that and send them love. Remain calm and balanced and focus on the love you have for them. Build on that and project it towards them. Remove yourself from the room if needs be and then do it in privacy — even if it means locking yourself in that bathroom again for a few minutes to gather/center yourself (your family and friends might wonder if that egg nog is acting as a diuretic but better that then a festive altercation). I guarantee you will have helped them more by doing this then by rising to the bait of drama and argumentative behavior.

Good luck and may the force be with you!

4 Reasons to Eat Humble Pie and Starve the Ego

Art by Cherie Roe Dirksen

“When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everyone will respect you.”   ~Lao Tzu (Tao Te Ching)

Easier said than done, right?

We all experience our own egos in mild to moderate doses every now and again (and for some, it’s a constant fighting battle that they’re not even aware of).

When will we actually get it through our heads that it’s okay to be who we are?

The Playing Field For Happiness and Sanity

I can only put this through via a personal encounter I had last week with my ego. It was a sneaky meeting, I didn’t even realize at the time that my ego had me by the short and curly’s.

I was having trouble with a computer-related work issue. Instead of asking for help, I tried to solve the problem when I was clearly not in the headspace or in the ‘know’ of how to fix the issue.

I squirmed and shifted in my seat whilst I allowed my temper to rise. I just couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel — the tunnel was sealed off and a huge concrete barrier had been erected to block my passage.  The clock was ticking and I was working with a looming deadline.

I began to tear my hair out (literally, at this point, not merely figuratively) and started banging my fists down on the table (real mature) — I was feeling the anger and rage mounting and I was directing all that energy at myself.

Now here is where my ego stepped in.

I felt like I was useless, incompetent and stupid. If I had to ask for help (which at this point was inevitable) I was admitting defeat and that I wasn’t coping (ego not liking the latter).

I fancy myself as a strong, independent, problem-solving kind of woman and this was just not on!

Tail Between the Legs

I bit the bullet and asked for help which I received and within an hour things were back on track.

My ego was seriously wounded though. I had proven myself to be unlearned in this specific field (which is not really my forte but, heck, that just didn’t seem to matter to my ego). I sat down to reflect and lick my wounds.

Here’s the crux of what I learned:

  • Asking for help does not mean you are stupid.  It just means you are not thick enough to stop yourself from learning or letting other people exercise their talents in a specific field. Take that one, ego!
  • Letting your guard down to show people your vulnerabilities is not disempowering it is the opposite — you’re empowering yourself to be who you are. Your vulnerabilities can make you more relatable to others and yourself.  Huh? Cut yourself some slack! We’re all trying our best and sometimes we fall. The hallmark of a pro is to get up again and dust off — that’s what makes you who you are.
  • Take a massive slice of humble pie and have a good laugh at your expense. The ego diminishes at the sound of you laughing at yourself. Don’t take things personally (even if it’s you doing the personal criticizing).
  • To stubbornly try and do something against your grain, especially when you know you are going down a slippery slope, causes you pain. Stop doing it. Trust your gut instinct — if it doesn’t feel right, don’t do it.  If you must do it, ask for help instead of getting your knickers in a knot. The ego is always trying to compare, compete or criticize — try identify any of these traits in what you are pursuing. Be honest with yourself — are you doing this for you or for someone/something else?

More Pie?

After I had my slice of humble pie, I came across the very same situation yesterday. Instead of a repeat performance of slipping into a state of panic, self-torture, anguish and dismay at my perceived lack of capabilities, I had a good laugh at myself and the reoccurring predicament I found myself in.

I acknowledged that this was another moment where I was out of my depth and I immediately asked for help.

I felt like I stepped aside from my ego and witnessed myself in that vulnerable but okay place and I wasn’t feeling diminished in any way.  I was just me and it felt good.

The actual problem was sorted in less than 10 minutes and, contrary to what I thought, I wasn’t at fault this time (yay for me!). It was like a test from the Universe to see if I had digested that humble pie I ate last week.

My conclusion was to love yourself despite your ‘faults’, accept yourself for who you are and don’t give a toss what other people think of you. Step into your power and own the gifts that are specifically you — don’t try to be who you are not.

Be happy.

Are You Secretly Opposed to Nirvana?

Words of Wisdom From Matthew Bellamy

Step Into Your Power Now With This Simple Affirmation

2 Things You Can’t Thrive Without

Girl with a Flower by Cherie Roe DirksenMy mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” ` Maya Angelou

Who can’t agree with the above statement from the late and great, Ms Angelou?  We all want the full juicy experience that the cornucopia of life can lay tumbling at our feet.

 ROFLOL, Drive and Grace

To have strong, hot passion — in whatever we endeavor to do — is the delectability of living this life.  To be able to laugh at our fragile mortality and existential situations is pure magic and can be one of the most important exercises in our daily routine.  And to be bestowed with style is simply flamboyantly fabulous, darling!  They all make life more livable (and in the case of style, our wardrobes heavier and our wallets lighter).

But the two things I think are paramount to living the life extraordinaire are to have a limitless supply of love and compassion.

“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive.” ` Dalai Lama

I think the Dalai Lama hit the nail on the head with that one.  These two ‘traits’ are our innate tools to a trade-up in human existence.

Most of us want peace on earth and the sense that we are evolving and not devolving. Although on the surface it might look like society is on an insidious degeneration, I feel that where love and compassion exist — even if it is in small packages (after all, we’re going to do this one fabulous soul at a time — one courageous community at a time) — there is hope for reprieve.

Connect, Love and Fertilize — Happy Days!

Love holds our intrinsic ability to connect with and hold space for each other (fleshy or furry) and the planet (and the universe!) — it’s the glue that holds existence together IMHO (soon I’ll be writing these articles in pure acronym — God forbid!).

Compassion fertilizes the soil for love to grow strong (*violin softly playing in the background*).  If we can’t empathize with each other we are doomed.  Truth is not singular and we need to open up to the possibility that not everyone thinks the way we do…duh!  Retaliation is never going to lead us to peace.

The antithesis would be to hold fear for others and even possibly for our planet (that can appear so volatile at any given moment).  Fear often leads us to judgment — the need to make someone right and someone wrong — which inevitably closes down the channel to empathy and understanding.

 Hippy Nonsense!

I know I’m going to get some people shaking their heads and saying that love and compassion ‘aint going to cut it — we need justice in the world!

I’m not arguing the fact that justice may indeed need to be withheld for a community to run smoothly, I’m just pointing out that you can still have love and compassion for a person(s) who has done ‘wrong’.  Instead of condemning someone for life, try to see if you can rather figure out the ‘why’ (compassion) and then treat the root of the problem (with love).

Okay, said my piece now.  Ciao until next week.

The Importance of Being Earnest

Sisters of Joy by Cherie Roe Dirksen

What a drab word — ‘earnest’ — but hang on a minute…is it really?

When one hears the word ‘earnest’ it conjures feelings of great seriousness — being diligent, sincere and fervent.  Stiff upper lip old chap!

Take a Walk on the Wilde Side!

Now let’s look at the funky and ferocious side of this delectable word — it also means:

  • wholehearted
  • passionate
  • purposeful
  • zealous
  • enthusiastic

Not such a lackluster word, eh?  In fact, it’s a word we should live up to every day.

Now, I’m no idiot — not everyone falls out of bed as perky as a Pyrenees.  So how does one evoke such earnest behavior?

Give Your Thumbs a Break

By switching off that iPad, turning off the smartphone, unplugging the television and getting that butt out the door, you could pave the way to more earnest characteristics!

Don’t get me wrong, I love the internet — that old information highway, social networking delight — but you’ve got to have balance or you’re going to stagnate.

Trouble is, inertia can slowly creep in without you even noticing it until you’re the opposite of earnest — apathetic…trivial…dare I say, frigid? *Shudder*

But wait — there is hope…

Where New Ideas Form

Go experience the great outdoors, meet new and diverse people — old and young alike.  Everyone has a story to tell, motivation to give, wisdom to impart, knowledge to share and enthusiasm to spread and when these types of people get together A-bombs go off (well, not literally…but you get the drift)!

Since my move to the country, I have met the most interesting people from 16 year olds to 80 year olds — I love ’em all and would hang out with them in a heartbeat. Every one of them has a rich blend of reality to weave and fresh ideas to bring to the global table.

Make time to hang out with your friends (you know — the real flesh and blood ones).  There’s nothing more exhilarating than hanging out with your tribe.  Don’t have a tribe?  Go find them!  And they’re not usually the ones hanging out in bars either (although it’s not unheard of).

Mingle and get to know your community — you’ll be surprised where your tribe is actually hiding out.

Kick Bunbury to the Curb

In earnest eagerness to exit this essay, I want you to stop bunburying — yes, you read right!  ‘Bunburying’ — a legitimate English word coined by Oscar Wilde in his book ‘The Importance of Being Ernest’ (after Bunbury, the fictitious invalid friend of Algernon whose supposed illness is used as an excuse to avoid social engagements) and a word I’m going to throw around a lot more in polite conversation.

Get out there and socially engage with Wilde enthusiasm.  I encourage you — my dear readers — to make merry, emblazon your passions, engage in zealous pursuits, live wholeheartedly, sow your seeds of vim and vigor and entice people to do the same with your ardent fervor!

Let’s hope it’s catchy — you might start a wave of industriously, impassioned and potently purposeful living!

And I say all this to you in earnest whilst closing my Oxford dictionary.

3 Unusual Steps to Mapping Your Way Through Life

5 Revelations That Made Me Rethink My Life On The Road To Recovery

White Poppies by Cherie Roe DirksenI’ve been down with what I call my ‘super flu’ (as it’s taken me super long to get over!) — it’s been quite a challenge for me as I’m not one who gets sick often.  I’m just about over the worst of it now thank goodness!

When I was in the thick of fever and barely able to establish if I’d slipped into a parallel reality through sheer disorientation, it was extremely difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel — let’s face it…when we’re sick our whole world crumbles!

Our routines are knocked out of orbit and our lives come to a grinding halt.

Healer, Heal Thyself!

Okay, so I’m all for the idea of being able to heal yourself through thought, visualization and feeling complete health.  It’s a great concept when you’re feeling good but what about when you’re in a state of delirium?  It’s tough, I tell you!

I did try though and listened to bountiful amounts of healing meditations (you can find a plethora of these on YouTube) that certainly bought peace in moments of panic and soothed me for hours at a stretch.

However, it became clear that my body needed to go through this process for a reason and that’s what I kept reminding myself in the tougher times.

When we get sick it’s usually an indication to hop on the ‘go slow’ wagon. Chances are that you need some severe downtime and, more than likely, time to reflect and integrate what’s been going on in your life.

Making the Most of Feeling Shit

It’s hard to conceive that there is some kind of treasure in being ill but after much thought, I’ve come to the conclusion that there are heaps of diamonds to be mined from the experience.

And now — after medding myself up with garlic, ginger, spring water and copious amounts of raw honey (boy, does it get rid of that ‘tickle’ in the throat!) — my journey is drawing to a close.

Here are a few revelations I’ve gained from the experience:

  • Reboot — Since I’ve been under the weather I have naturally not eaten any junk food or wanted to drink alcohol or coffee. I’ve noticed that all I crave is fruit, nuts, lots of water and veggie dishes like salads or steamed veg. I’m hoping to take this as a system restart and continue aligning myself to what my body truly wants. When we get sick I feel it’s an opportunity to reboot and urgently start listening to the demands of our vessel! I normally do eat very healthy but it took me getting sick to weed out some bad habits that were creeping in.
  • Revamp — While I was nursing myself back to health, I watched a film called ‘Fork Over Knives’ — a doccie outlining the health importance of eating a plant-based diet — and, although I have followed this for many years now, my meal plans were starting to get real dull and boring. This documentary ignited a fire under my derriere to get more creative with mealtimes and reinvent a menu that is not only healthy but exciting. I can’t wait to start this new culinary routine! I’ve already made a list, whilst in bed, of 12 meals I intend to start making and rotating every week.
  • Release — Another wonderful opportunity that arose while I was ill was releasing the things in my life that were just not working for me anymore. Having forced downtime gets you to do a lot of thinking while you’re staring at the ceiling. You get to reflect on your life and what needs trimming, releasing or renovating.
  • Rejoice — We’re mostly on autopilot through our daily routines. Being sick has taught me what a blessing it is to be able to garden when I feel like it or do simple chores without wanting to pass out. We take so much for granted and sometimes it takes getting sick to realize it. I now find myself relishing the fact that I can do the dishes (which I didn’t much like doing before) or weed the veggie patch (also not the nicest of chores in the past). It’s given me a new perspective of my life and how much there is to rejoice in every day. Getting to sit behind my laptop writing this without breaking out into a cold sweat is just fantastic! I’m itching to get back into my art studio to paint — the creativity is seeping through my pores just bursting to be released. I have a heart full of gratitude, not only for starting to feel my body and health return but for all the small, medium and big things going on in my life right now. Life is actually quite exciting — we just forget sometimes in the daily grind.
  • Renewal — The last thing on this list of revelations is the sense of general renewal I’m feeling. As I said in the previous point — my body feels regenerated and my lease on life has had a major boost. Being ill sucks but now I think of it like a phoenix rising from the ashes. At first I beat myself up about getting sick ‘cause I’m supposed to be ‘healthy’ but upon reflection, I realized that this has taught me to roll with the punches and to still find the good in the seemingly ‘bad’. I became aware that when people asked me how I was feeling and my response was negative, that I wasn’t walking the talk. I promptly changed my way of talking and thinking about my flu to positive healing discourse and feelings and started coming out of the funk pretty quickly.  It’s all important to refresh your thoughts and filter that inner dialogue no matter how ‘true’ feeling poorly is to you in the moment.  This now moment will future project where your thoughts/feelings are steering you.  So instead of thinking ‘I feel ill’ — try to realign that thought to ‘I am feeling better’ and then to ‘I feel/am healthy’.  Oh, and don’t give up!  If you don’t feel sprightly doing this by tomorrow, it doesn’t mean it’s not working.  We all have the power to spontaneously heal ourselves but, let’s face it, most of us are not there yet — so give yourself some time to recoup.

So that’s my rant for this week.  Things aren’t always as bad as they seem and with a bit of spit and polish about how you perceive certain challenges, you can walk away with a newfound treasure cache.

You’re Told to Follow Your Heart, But What Does That Practically Mean?

InShot_20240405_170623185

We’ve explored how to navigate our unconscious mind, heal our shadow aspects and balance our inner feminine and masculine and now Tracy will bring this together to teach how to create and live into our potential in this fourth and final blog.

Here are the links to the previous blogs:

Ever Wanted to Fly?

Do You Know the Difference Between Your Superconscious and Subconscious Mind?

How to Heal and Unite Your Inner Feminine and Masculine

Cherie:  Okay, we hear the saying ‘follow your heart’ a lot these days — what exactly does that mean in your opinion?

Tracy: Following your heart is not for the faint-hearted and it doesn’t mean giving into your egoic desires in each moment (which can often take you further away). It means having the courage to get real about who you are, exploring what your soul wants to express through you and committing to walking this path because the fullness of your life depends on it.

Yet how do we even do this?

We could have a myriad of external and internal obstacles and perceived limitations and somehow have forgotten that we are the curators and creators of our own lives.

It starts with taking our power back from the outside world and deciding to live our highest potential, beyond what’s comfortable and familiar.

Cherie:  Why is it detrimental, in this new paradigm, to listen to our heart intuition instead of our heads?

Tracy: If we rely on our brain to give us information on how to move forward, we’ll remain stuck. It only knows what it knows based on past experience and can’t give us any new information that hasn’t already been learned or experienced.

To live according to our highest potential is to break out of the cycle of fear, doubt and lack and follow the intuitive design, cycles and wisdom of nature. We need to harness the power of the seen and unseen, the superconscious and subconscious, the masculine and feminine and the heart and mind to create from a place of wholeness and balance.

Cherie:  Following the metaphor of the cycle of the butterfly — that you’ve already illustrated for us in the previous blogs — how do we use it to create what we want?

Tracy: Start with the end in mind. Begin with the butterfly, that which you are at the core of your being.

  • What is that highest vision you want for your life, for your next project, for who you want to become?
  • What are you passionate about? What do you love to do and talk about?
  • What GIVES you energy, rather than depletes it?

EmergentImaginal Model-5

Your purpose may evolve over time, but in each moment of living into your passion and truth, that path will unfold before you.

The old fearful way of creating is to keep doing what you know, work hard and then harder, with effort, sweat and tears.

You’ve lost the joy, passion and energy. You’re working from a place of lack and fear and have disconnected from your truth.

It’s all ‘doing’ and not enough ‘being’ and therefore no real creativity, which is what truly brings us to life.

Cherie: So, we’ve basically got to find the balance of our heart-mind connection to truly and fully encompass our innate creative power. Can you expound on working together with that heart-mind connection and all it entails?

Tracy: Working from the heart–mind combines the power of flow and focus, surrender and action, compassion and passion, inspiration and execution, contraction and expansion. It’s a dance that feels less like work and more like wild hearted living.

“It’s the difference between living in the world of magic and the muggle world.”

It begins with the heart –that feminine aspect that’s receptive, allowing and intuitive.

She is still, radiant, creative, nurturing, feeling, flowing, unconditional love. This is the place of receiving intuitive divine guidance. So much of that has been lost in society and yet this feminine energy is the power and source of all of creation.

Like the egg of the butterfly, be open to receiving the seed of inspiration from your highest vision.

We can access this place through meditation, being in nature, gentle movement and embracing nature’s many feminine attributes (the flowing water, the blossoming flower).

Allow yourself to imagine this space of the receptive, magnetic feminine. What do you see? What do you feel? What do you hear? How do you know when you’re in that place?

Cherie:  I love that! Thank you. Synchronicity is an incredibly powerful force in this world that guides us along our path and you’ve described it and what to do with it beautifully.  Any last words to impart before we wrap up this incredible journey you’ve taken us through?

Tracy: Remember, to the degree you experience the expansion of your vision, is to the degree that you will feel the contraction of all that’s needing to be let go of.

You will have to go through the contractions in order to birth your vision or highest version of self. The old fear cells will be threatened by the higher vibrational imaginal discs of the butterfly and your job will be to keep holding onto the truth of who you are and let the fears and doubts dissolve as you keep walking through them.

You are growing your wings and the caterpillar, who is scared of flying, will do everything to try stay in her camouflaged, black and white world – but you are born to fly!

Living and leading from the heart requires courage and commitment, yet you get to a point of no return where you can only dance the cha-cha towards your truth!

You inevitably WILL come up against your fears and doubts as they want to keep you playing small in your familiar playground. Don’t’ let the fear of feeling fear hold you back. Feel it, dance through it and walk through it.

You’ll find a pot of power on the other side that will fuel you for the next threshold you face. All the while, you’re reclaiming more and more of your personal power, building your confidence muscle and preparing you for full flight.

Cherie:  I’m sure I speak for all my readers when I say a big heartfelt THANK YOU to Tracy Russell for her time and wild hearted wisdom in this powerfully transforming cycle of the butterfly metaphor series. I think we’re ready to spread our wings and take our lives to a whole new level!

7 Ways to Tame the Ego and Become Instantly Likeable

Win the Lottery Using the Law of Attraction

Win the Lottery Using the LOAI get a lot of letters from readers frustratingly seeking advice on using the Law of Attraction to win the lottery.

I’m going to try to make it as clear as possible, in this article, as to why I think you are failing to procure the winning numbers.

For many, you tried using the techniques taught in books like ‘The Secret’ and ‘The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent’ — to name but a few — and have had relative success (meaning you may have managed to lasso your ‘parking angel’ or you manifested a great job).

But how have you done with the big things — like that elusive million bucks in the bank scenario?

What is Abundance — You Really Need to GET This!

The problem with all this new-found knowledge of the Law of Attraction is that it’s become a bit of a breeding ground for greed.

There’s nothing wrong with trying to live a comfortable, joyful life — don’t get me wrong — but just going straight for manifesting huge lumps of money is becoming a big problem and the sweat beads of frustration are pooling up on the collective forehead.

Abundance takes on many forms not just monetary wealth.

So, what exactly is it that you want to do with all this lottery money?

11:11, Lizzy’s Legs and… Bingo!

I’m going to help teach you, not how to pick winning numbers, but how to succeed at
LIFE’S lottery.

Don’t hang up on me now — if you clicked on this article there is a curiosity in you to win big and I’m going to explain why you can but not in the way you may have been going about it.

The answer is actually quite simple.

Why — when you’re quite good at manifesting in general — can you not win the lottery? You’ve got to ask yourself:

  • How many other people who are masters of the LOA (Law of Attraction) are trying to do the same thing?
  • Are you prepared to wait your turn?
  • Are you prepared to wait your turn even if it means you may only win in 20 years+ time?
  • Do you believe that you will win 100%?
  • Is your self talk, thoughts and actions all pointing towards winning the lottery or do you get bursts of highly negative, emotive feelings that cramp your style when someone else wins?
  • Are you happy for that someone else when they win?
  • Do you understand that when you are genuinely happy to see someone else succeed at what you want to do or gain sends out a burst of magnetic impulse that draws it to you even more?
  • Do you understand that to do the opposite and curse and swear for not winning sends out more magnetic energy to attract losing into your sphere?

Now the questions above require that you answer as truthfully as you can.

But even more important is why I think you are fighting a potentially losing battle — you REALLY need to read this:

  1. Book Cover CARPE DIEM OR BUST

Get this authors second book from Amazon for $8.99 (paperback) or download for FREE – click ‘free downloads’ in menu

Tunnel Vision.  When you ask to win the lottery you are picking only ONE path out of literally infinite paths to get you to where you want to be. Let me give you a metaphor: Say your friend tells you he is lonely and really wants a partner, someone to share his life with. You tell him about the LOA and he starts visualizing and affirming eagerly. A year down the line you ask him how it’s going and he replies that the LOA is a bunch of rubbish ‘cause he still hasn’t got his dream girl. He then goes on to tell you that he is in love with a married woman and he has been trying to manifest the perfect relationship with only her (he has selected only ONE path/channel among infinite possibilities). You can’t believe how much time he’s wasted! Why? Because you know that if he just asked for the ‘perfect partner’ and not one specific and almost impossible relationship he would be sitting right now with his love. Your friend isolated one option for himself and he may even get what he wants down the line — perhaps when he’s in his 80’s and this woman he has a fetish for is finally available — but do you think he’s prepared to wait that long? Do you think he should rather relinquish the ‘how’ and ‘who’ of his perfect partner and trust that the universe will take care of all the details? Same goes for the lottery.

  2. Multiple Channels for Success. The universe knows how to get you to your destination in the quickest way possible but if you hold on rigidly to only one way of getting there (aka winning the lottery) you are closing doors that would get you what you want quicker. So, you may indeed be manifesting a lottery win but it may take you 10, 20, 30 years+ to get there (like the above example of your friend finally being with the woman he loves in his geriatric years) because you’ve only selected that one channel. Chances are you’re going to get frustrated waiting for your win and your doubt will lead you down a path of negative and woeful thoughts which will kill any seed that is starting to take root. You may even abandon any hope that the LOA works in any way whatsoever and become a sad, lonely and poor skeptic. Imagine wanting to watch the movie ‘Gone With the Wind’ but you only select one channel to watch, wait and hope that it will screen. Wouldn’t you have much better success getting satellite TV and having 500 channels to scour in search of that movie? The one channel may indeed show the movie one day but it could be a long, long wait whereas the satellite option would probably play the movie within a few months.
  3. Scan for Limiting Beliefs.  If you don’t believe 100% that what you’re trying to manifest is possible, it ain’t going to happen. It’s as simple as that. When you acquire smaller stuff through deliberate intent, such as receiving a chocolate or getting a phone call from an old friend you’ve lost contact with, it slowly and steadily builds your confidence in the LOA and your believability factor strengthens. But to go from manifesting a bunch of flowers to the lottery is slightly over-ambitious for the budding believer. Most people get frustrated and give up entirely not knowing that, even if you do believe 100%, it takes the 3 P’s to manifest what you want. Patience, persistence and positivity. Oh, and did I mention patience? Patience, patience, patience…I can’t stress it enough. It’s imperative, especially when you are asking for the big things — mountains sometimes have to move to get you what you want, so start being very joyful in your present moment. That’s the only way you are truly going to get through the patience part. Which leads me to…
  4. Be Here, in the NOW.
Everything only ever happens in this moment — the NOW (one of the most powerful books I’ve ever read on present moment awareness is Eckhart Tolle’s, The Power of Now. When you are comfortable and peaceful in your present you will be in a space that resonates joy and magnetically pulls great things into your life experience. It’s always good to be clear on what you want ‘cause it’s a real cracker to wake up to the realization that the world is your oyster and that it was just your perception that was out of alignment.
  5. What’s Best?  Winning the lottery might not be in your best interest. Did you ever think of that? I believe we all come here with a purpose — it’s usually to create and grow. Cascades of cash can change people and it might just not be something that your over-soul wishes to experience. It might even set your personal growth back and make you a lax creator — this may be why you are receiving resistance in your personal arena. This does not mean that you must take a vow of poverty, it just means that you must assess what drives you to want so much cash. Whatever the reason is (because you don’t just want money – you want what money can buy) — hone in on that rather than the dosh.

I know how discouraged some people feel because part of waking up to your innate power is that you should be able to manifest anything — even the sky is not the limit anymore.

Now while this may be true, every person has varying degrees of truth and beliefs that could restrict this infinite flow of possibility.

Your job is to crack your own code.

Don’t get frustrated seeing other people manifesting what you want, rather get inspired by it — use it as fuel for your own believability factor.  We all have to mine through our limiting beliefs, Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Make the journey pleasurable by delighting in synchronous markers (for more on the importance of synchronicity READ HERE) and other magical encounters your path may have.

Delighting in Desire and Not Self-Destructing!

Desires and making them happen can be wonderful but they can also drive us to the edge of insanity.

Why?

Pink Green Spring Flower Quotes Pinterest GraphicWhen your desire consumes you and it starts to define who you are (or, more importantly, who you are not yet) — whether you’ve been successful or not — you are teetering on rocky terrain.

It can be the cause of great unhappiness, especially when your desires are not met.

The key to leading a fulfilling life is to take great glee in all manifestations.  To let go of how you are going to get what you want and experience enchantment in finding out just how the universe delivers your request.  Because the chances are you’re going to meet some interesting people along the way and find yourself on a bit of an adventure and guess what?  That’s life and it’s beautiful!

Take life as one amazing experience at a time.  It’s up to you if you choose to see the experience as positive or negative.

Okay, now that we’ve gone through the finer points, let me get to the juiciest bit — how to win life’s lottery!

Here are the steps to living your life to the fullest.

  • Get Very Clear — If it’s money you think you want then rather get clear on what you want to buy with the money — is it a house, a car, a holiday, a comfortable life? When you know what it is you are trying to achieve then create a vision board or something of the like and pin your aspirations where you can see them. Go ahead and affirm every day what you want and, most importantly, feel what it feels like to have it already (for more info on this I highly recommend you read ‘The Isaiah Effect’ by Gregg Braden).
  • Make Joy a Priority — When you take the above step you open up infinite ways for the universe to bring you what you desire without narrowly trying to squeeze it into only one solution (aka the lottery). Your next step will be to blissfully enjoy every moment of realizing your goals — in other words, be happy now. What you assign this minute manifests in your tomorrows. So invest in your future by projecting joy now.
  • Look for Synchronous Encounters — You’ve heard the saying that the journey is sometimes better than the destination, right? It’s true — every word. As I said before, become Alice in Wonderland searching for those synchronicities (or rabbit prints) that try to steer you towards even more joy. You’re going to get plenty of markers so watch out for them. They might come in the form of a dream that you live the next day or as silly as seeing a number repeating itself wherever you look. In my opinion, even the smallest synchronicities show us that we are pointing in the right direction.
  • SUBSCRIBE icon 1Thanks and KudosGratitude is not only a magnet for success but it also puts things into perspective for you. Sometimes we get lost in all the fuzz of daily life and we forget how much we have and how much we’ve achieved already. Take time out to give thanks and acknowledgment for all that has manifested in your life so far.

You can lead a happy and prosperous life.  You were born to encompass the full umbrella that is wealth.

Don’t be confined by constricting yourself to only one avenue or outlet (i.e. winning the lottery when there are many other ways available to manifest your dreams) — surrender to the universal flow and let it gently usher you with effortless ease along your way.

Do You Know the Difference Between Your Superconscious and Subconscious Mind?

InShot_20240405_164735074

In a previous blog Tracy Russell led us through the teachings of the butterfly metamorphosis — how we each have the blueprint of potential within us to work through the layers of conditioning that disconnect us from our truth.  You can recap on that blog HERE.

In this blog Tracy will take us through connecting to our highest vision or version of self, as well as the shadow aspects that will consequently arise.

“Our heart glows, and secret unrest gnaws at the root of our being. Dealing with the unconscious has become a question of life for us.” ~ Carl Jung

Cherie:  You have developed a diagram that helps us to visually understand the concept represented by the butterfly’s transitional states as a metaphor to our lives — can you expand on what the cross symbolizes?

Tracy:  In the diagram below I’ve used the cross to represent the unconscious and the conscious.

There is only ONE MIND – which, for the sake of convenience and understanding, we’ll divide, according to its functions, into the conscious and unconscious minds, which is further divided into superconscious and subconscious.

One ancient definition of the cross is ‘the cross of matter’, the vertical bar representing spirit, which interpenetrates the horizontal bar representing matter or the earth plane (horizon line). This is symbolic of bringing heaven to earth.

EmergentImaginal Model-3The world of the caterpillar is black and white, his sight is limited and he knows what to do based on what he’s been taught.

He’s conditioned to consume and stay on his isolated tree, not knowing that there’s a whole world of colour beyond his limited perception.

Similarly we go about our life only connecting to the 5% of information that is filtered via our senses and self talk forming our conscious reality and often fail to tap into the 95% that is our unconscious mind.

Cherie:  Can you expand on what roles our superconscious state of mind plays in our lives?

Tracy:  It functions best when the conscious mind is not mulling over problems, but rather focused on solving them and looking for solutions (energy flows where focus goes.). Then when the conscious mind is focused elsewhere, ideas will often flash into the mind.

When you get an intuitive flash/idea act on it immediately, the more rapidly you act on these insights the more insights you receive.

The unconscious mind communicates in pictures , metaphors and synchronicities. Visualization and imagining are powerful ways to engage in two-way communication.

Any thought, plan, goal or idea held continuously in the conscious mind will get brought into our reality by the superconscious mind, whether positive or negative. Therefore it’s important to be conscious of what you’re focused on.

Think of it as a mainframe computer that you can tap into in each NOW moment (your point of power).

SuperconsciousCall it universal mind, cosmic consciousness, infinite intelligence — it’s where we source our ideas and receive inspiration and life force energy from.

It’s not something outside of ourselves, it is at the core of our being. It’s the source of all creativity. It’s the genius mind that Einstein Mozart, Beethoven, Thomas Edison and countless others knew how to access.

Cherie:  Well, that really helps to clarify the role of superconscious. It’s definitely where I get most of my inspiration from — especially whilst in a meditative state. So how do we actively engage the superconscious to better our lives?

Tracy: Whether you’re wanting to create a new project, a new life or live more into your truth, the first step is to connect to that vision, the butterfly… the end result.

  • Imagine what it would be like to live your most juiciest, fulfilled, passionate life.
  • What would you be doing? What can you see? What can you feel? (engage all your senses)
  • If you had no limitations whatsoever, what would your life look like?
  • If you had no self-doubt what kind of person would you be?

The thing about growth is that it’s not linear, there is no A to B where you get to a grand finish line, throw your hands up in the air and shout “I’ve arrived!”

Growth is infinite and happens in a spiral of contraction and expansion.

Just remember that when you shine a light on the inner butterfly (that free, expansive liberated self) you will also be illuminating, to the same degree, the shadow self (fears, beliefs and limitations).

You’ll feel the contraction of all that’s not in alignment with your vision.

I’m sure you’ve experienced an epiphany or grand idea which lights you up completely (often at night when your unconscious is more active) and then you wake up in the morning to “What was I thinking, I can’t do that!” Then all the excuses and doubts appear and you’re left feeling deflated.

Remember your imaginal discs (potential) are a higher frequency and those fears and doubts that live on a lower vibration will fight for survival. And yet they hold great gifts and power for us if we learn how to transmute and alchemise them.

Just as any hero in a story has to slay some dragons in order to come through the other side victorious, so do we need to use our challenges and perceived limitations as tools for growth so that we can eventually bridge the gap between our current reality and desired reality.

These beliefs and fears lurk in the shadow of our subconscious mind and it’s a necessary part of growth and transformation to be able to face, feel and heal these aspects so we can return to wholeness.

This is what happens within the chrysalis — the butterfly who’s wanting to emerge and the caterpillar needing to die so that this new vision/ higher aspect of self can be re-birthed.

Yet the old dies hard and doesn’t give up without a fight!

Dictionary: (from the Latin revolutio, “a turn around”) is a fundamental change in power or organizational structures that takes place in a relatively short period of time.

This is the revolution within, where there’s a shift in power from your head to your heart — from fear to empowerment, restriction to freedom.

Cherie:  Thank you. I’m sure we can all relate to what you have outlined there about the superconscious and how we can tap into it and trust our heart guidance more. Now for the subconscious — how can we better understand ourselves through this aspect of mind?

Tracy:  The term Subconscious mind is an individual accumulation of knowledge through personal experience and ideas that have been fixed through education, repetition or impact which form your conditioning and it controls ±97% of our behavior!  Here are some characteristics of the subconscious:

  • subconsciousIt can’t tell real from imagined – whatever picture or image you send it, it believes it to be absolutely true.
  • It stores memories, beliefs, habits and generates your instincts.
  • The conditioned mind doesn’t’ know the difference between a truth and a lie, it can’t process negatives.
  • It takes everything personally… there is no one else but you.
  • It represses memories with unresolved emotions and presents them for resolution when ready.
  • Runs the body. Has a blueprint of the body now and of perfect health.
  • Generates, stores, distributes and transmits energy.
  • Functions best as a whole integrated unit, not as parts.

Cherie:  So it’s like our ‘auto-pilot’ but we’ve got to switch to manual. How do we do this?

Tracy:  Your subconscious mind contains all the mental and emotional imprints from the past, your beliefs about yourself and the world around you.  You’ve got to ask yourself:

  • What beliefs are you holding that are not serving your highest good and potential?
  • Are they absolutely true?
  • How could the opposite belief be just as true?

Some beliefs could be “I don’t have the time” I need more money” “How can I do that?” I’m not good enough” I’m not experienced enough”.

Remember every problem has a solution and it’s to keep focused on the solution.

One of the greatest obstacles is not knowing HOW to create our vision and so we find excuses and keep waiting for the right time or conditions, or a treasure map with the coordinates to land in our lap!

Yet you don’t have to know the how of creating your vision. In fact if you know the how, you’re not moving beyond your comfort zone into your greater potential.

If you know the how it means you’ve done it before.

Growing into your potential involves moving beyond the known, into the unknown. You’re blazing a new trail one step at a time using courage to slay your dragons and passion and purpose to fuel and direct your journey.

Remember this is about bringing heaven to earth… activating the vibration of what you’re wanting to create into your reality RIGHT NOW.

Start your day in the vibration of who you truly are at the core of your being (LOVE) and do those things that add joy and sparkle to your every day whilst following your bliss… this is how you pave your way.

Why Problems are Really Potentials

The Painters Universe by Cherie Roe Dirksen

The Human Condition

How often do we face troubling, irksome, unfortunate, gob-smacking, gut-wrenching, negative situations?  A lot?  Sometimes?

Is it something you fear coming up against?  Do you find yourself worrying about potential ‘what if’s’?

Whatever the answer — we all experience the downs of life as well as the ups.  It’s natural and all part of being human.  You can have it all together and be the most inimitable spiritual master sitting atop a Tibetan mountain and you will still face problematic encounters.

Problems don’t change, it’s how you deal with or perceive them that needs the changing.

Be Your Own Alchemist

What if I told you that you just might enjoy coming up against a wall in the future when you know what it represents and how to deal with it?

What we do with our potential problems is what I want to speak about today.  You can turn any situation into gold if you know how.  What am I talking about?

How Much Treasure Are You Sitting On —  Or Is It Just a Bunch of Rotten Bananas?

There is always treasure to be found in your trash.  Turning your situation around is just as simple as taking an over-ripe banana and making a banana loaf with it.

Savvy?

When life throws you lemons, make Margaritas!  When we mine what we initially deem as a negative situation, we could potentially find a myriad of gemstones in the experience.  The key is to have the right attitude and miners helmet!

We are forever expanding and learning — that’s just how our soul operates — when we get thrown curve balls they are really opportunities for expansion.

Yeah, your first reaction to something “caca” is most likely to feel down in the dumps but look back at your past — how many times did that awful thing turn out to be your greatest blessing?

Have you ever stopped to peek into your past experiences to see how things turned out?  It’s a great exercise as past experience often shows us future solutions.

If, every time something bad happens to you, you keep reiterating that your life is going to the dogs, then look at what a powerful manifestor you are!

Huh?

If you’re the kind of person who can’t ever find a positive aspect in a negative situation and all you can do is whine, complain and moan about how rotten your life is then you are creating more of that.  Kudos!

But wait, what about trying a different approach next time a truck load of sour grapes is being dumped on your doorstep?  After all, vinegar is very useful for cleaning toilets, did you know?

How to Turn Situations to Your Advantage

Okay, let’s get short, sweet and to the point of this blog:

  • Don’t fear the future — If you find yourself slipping into worry about what might happen to you and how you’ll deal with it, just affirm: ‘I am a powerful co-creator and I can bend anything to accommodate my joy’.
  • All Things Will Pass — This is a powerful realization as it works with both good and bad situations.  This is not to say you must fear all joyful moments as they will soon be gone — it is just a reminder that there is an ebb and flow to life and that when you are in the moment, it might feel like things will never change.  Thing is, the only constant you can rely on is change.  So, remind yourself that if you are having a bad day, tomorrows dawn might be a rebirth on the horizon.  And if you are experiencing joy in the moment, you are projecting more bliss into your future — so nothing to worry about there either.
  • Mine the Matter — You’ve got to dig deep into the situation (whatever it is) and scour over all possibilities to find the diamond.  Life doesn’t throw you anything you (a) can’t handle and (b) don’t need in order to grow.  And you’re just going to love the muchness that you have once you take the lesson and experience the gratification of growth!
  • Future Projection — No matter how bogged down and gloomy you may feel about things today, try to visualize how you want things to be.  Close your eyes and play a movie in your mind (in the region of your third eye, in between your brows).  Choose how you want this situation to play out.  Keep watching the DVD until you smile and really feel this outcome ingraining on your path.  Draw on that when you feel yourself slipping into dread or doubt.  Keep affirming your ideal outcome.  You are an alchemist, get used to it!

Program a New Reality, Neo

A really fun thing to do is to keep a diary of all the events that you have turned around through your own personal alchemy.  When you look back on the pages, you’ll start to see the pattern of your power emerging.

You are sitting on an immense and phenomenal ability — the power of mind, heart and emotional connection (read HERE for more about this supreme trinity and how to use it) that turns your matrix into the womb of creation that it was always supposed to be (did you know that the word ‘matrix’ means ‘womb’ in Latin?).

You create in your own personal matrix. So, don’t fear the future and what it may bring — scream out, ‘bring it on!’ and know that you can figuratively turn any base metal into gold because problems are only disguised potentials.

It’s your job to uncover the illusion and to stop buying into victimization.

Take a Lesson from the Magpie

To hammer the point home — there is an inspirational, innovative and enchanting gallery/shop where I live called Magpie

They ‘upcycle’ trash into the most beautiful art concentrating on jaw-dropping, spectacular chandeliers.

What a perfect metaphor for us — isn’t it about time we turned our trash into art?  Our lives could be sheer masterpieces of glued together strife made triumphant!

16 Imperative Choices For Healthy Living — How Many Are You Already Doing?

Look after my Heart by Cherie Roe Dirksen

Sick of Getting Sick?

“Don’t live to eat — eat to live.  Don’t let any thing come between you, your ideal body and an ecstatic life.”

Is it just me or is sickness and disease on the rise?

Just in my circle of friends and acquaintances, 20 year olds are being diagnosed with cancer and healthy 50 year olds having fatal aneurysms!  Never mind the tragic amount of other illnesses and disease doing their rounds and incapacitating people.

I went into town the other day (and, believe me, it’s a small town) and in no less than 45 minutes, heard of 4 people who have been hospitalized in the past week — all suffering with different afflictions and all pretty young.

What the hell is going on?

Healthy Living No-Brainers

I was listening to a talk show last night and the doctor being interviewed was speaking about the imperative nature of healthy living, especially nutrition.

“You may say today that you don’t give a shit about what you’re putting into your body but let me tell you — the day your body starts packing up is the day that you’ll bloody eat those words!”

She stressed how the western diet is atrocious and how something  very drastic needs to be done.

The things she was addressing seemed like a no-brainer to me until people started calling in and I was shocked to discover that most of the listeners were hearing these things for the first time.

Quit Bugging Me!

One example was a caller saying that a friend of his was growing her own vegetable garden and she didn’t use any pesticides on it — he thought she was doing it for religious reasons.

The doctor said something that was smack on the button (and I’m paraphrasing):  “If I made you a beautiful, fresh salad and then sprayed Raid all over it — would you eat it?”

The caller said no and the doctor said that this is exactly why his friend is growing without chemical sprays.

Keep Your Finger on Your Pulse!

Well, I was inspired to whip up a quick blog checklist.

Life changes are necessary and, as the good doctor said, if you want to stay alive and healthy, some of these so-called ‘sacrifices’ are detrimental.  And I put sacrifices in inverted commas because they only seem that way until you get used to them and they become part of your daily practice.

Hell, you may (and probably will) come to love some of these healthy habits — especially the way they make you feel.

“You may have the healthiest diet and the fittest body, but if you are holding onto resentment or anger, you could be a breeding ground for dis-ease.”

Let’s keep it simple and to the point (some of these things may push your buttons but try to keep an open mind at the very least).

As with anything you read or hear, use your discernment — these are all suggestions:

  1. Drink Water — 10 glasses a day and make sure it’s pure, clean water and not tap water that is over-chlorinated and contains fluoride (yes, fluoride isn’t good for you — READ MORE HERE).  Coffee and alcohol actually dehydrate you, so don’t think that you’re drinking water in your beer or caffeine fix.  It’s especially dangerous as the first sign of dehydration is thirst and when you drink other things it satiates the thirst but doesn’t help the initial problem of dehydration.  Dehydration is only solved when you drink WATER!!!!  Don’t kid yourself otherwise (and totally stay away from the flavoured water!  It’s full of sugar).
  2. MSG, Preservatives, Artificial Colouring and Sweeteners BEWARE!!!  Rule no.1 — just stay 10 miles away from any of the aforementioned things.  They are found in about 80% of products at the store but you can actually survive without them.  Quick tips:  Instead of buying crisps eat non-GMO popcorn or lightly salted crisps (they usually don’t have the MSG) and make yourself a groovy avo dip to accompany and satisfy those taste buds.  Instead of getting packaged soups and stocks (which are loaded with MSG) you can buy vegetable stock powders (look in the health section of your supermarket).  Look for alternatives!  Your great-grandmother didn’t have all this crap in her diet and neither should you.  READ MORE about the dangers of MSG HERE, food colouring info HERE, preservative info HERE and Sweeteners HERE.
  3. Cut back on the Sugar (then cut it out) — You can do it!  Yes, I know — what about the ice-cream cravings in summer or that one indiscretion after a meal out?  It’s better to ‘treat’ yourself every now and again than to have a larder full of sugary shite and kid yourself it’s okay!  Seriously, sugar is a major carcinogen.  What is a carcinogen?  A substance capable of causing cancer in living tissue.  Be informed!  I sometimes have a nice gooey dessert but it’s seldom and at home I don’t keep the stuff at all.  Stevia is a great supplement and it’s natural.  Honey in moderation also is a great alternative.  I have been making my own chocolate (cause I’m a choc-o-holic) and it’s completely satiating and de-fricking-licious!  Here is a recipe for mouth-watering choccies that you can make from scratch:  CLICK HERE.
  4. Meat-Free — As a vegetarian, this is a controversial subject and I’m sure many of you have your heckles aimed at me.  I believe we are healthier not eating meat but many will disagree — that is your choice to make and I certainly refrain from judging anyone on this point.  There is loads of information out there about the dangers of meat consumption — READ HERE for one.  Thing is, if you can’t give it up entirely, try at least to incorporate 3-4 meals a week that are meat-free.  And when you do buy meat, please buy it responsibly by supporting your local organic/free-range farmers — do it for them, yourself and for the animals.  You are what you eat, so make sure the animal was pampered as much as possible and not treated appallingly in some over-crowded factory farm.
  5. Exercise and Movement — Most people shudder at the ‘e’ word but come on!  We need to move our bodies and build up a sweat every day.  Find something fun to do — it doesn’t have to be all grind at the gym, you know.  READ HERE for 25 fun alternatives.
  6. Lactose Leery —  Yip, my favourite — not!  I love my dairy, especially milk.  Although I still smuggle a piece of cheese every now and then, I have cut out most dairy.  I supplement rice milk powder in my hot drinks and smoothies it’s actually quite yummy, so I’m not really missing the cows milk much.  Here is an article about the dangers of dairy CLICK HERE.
  7. Organic, Fresh, Raw — You guessed it!  Eat as much organic, raw fruit and veg as you can — especially the green leafy kind.  The more alkaline your body (as in at least 51% alkaline) the less your changes of getting cancer.  Why?  Cancer cannot survive in a body that is predominantly alkaline.  Do yourself a favour and check this chart out — CLICK HERE.  Better still, start your own edible patch — after all, the word on the street is that revolution starts one veg garden at a time!
  8. GMO Wary — Frankenfoods should be setting off alarm bells in your head.  If you’re still not sure why, then you can  READ MORE HERE.
  9. Cut Back on Carbs — Yeah, carbs are delicious but here is some food for thought about these sticky starches:  10 Dangers of Carbohydrates by Dr. Dana Myatt.
  10. State of Mind — You simply cannot thrive on stress, anxiety, anger, fear, regret or other negative emotions.  You can experience them but know that it too shall pass.  If you find yourself harbouring ill-feelings, especially the inability to let go or forgive, you need to explore those emotions and release them in any way you can.  You may have the healthiest diet and the fittest body, but if you are holding onto resentment or anger, you could be a breeding ground for dis-ease.  You’ve got to shovel through your muck and turn them into compost for future growth.  Remember to water that compost with copious doses of healthy self-love!
  11. State of Heart — Listen to your heart and trust your gut instincts.  We all have the natural ability to gauge situations and using our heart-sense will help steer us in the direction of healthy choices for joyful living.  The best thing we can do for ourselves is engage in complete awareness and to take responsibility for our actions.  The ability to drop into our heart centers for guidance will make for a more switched on humanity.
  12. Get Dirty — Right, bear with me here…has she lost her mind, you might ask?  Perhaps, but there is something truly magical to be gained in working with you hands and/or feet in the dirt.  Get into the garden and connect with your planet.  Feel the earth beneath your feet.  Play in the mud.  It’s actually got a name and it’s called ‘earthing’.  For more about this glorious practice and the many ways you will benefit from it — CLICK HERE and HERE.
  13. Smoke and Drug-Free Zone — The less chemicals we pump into our body the better.  Enough said! Still not convinced?  Okay, READ MORE and HERE.
  14. Medicinal Laughter — l mean, seriously — who doesn’t like a good belly wobble?  But did you know that giggles and guffaws come with some seriously wicked benefits?  Like reducing the risk of strokes and heart attacks!  READ MORE HERE.
  15. Get Plenty of Sex!  Just when you thought I’d suck all the joy out of life with this list, I go and totally redeem myself! So, if you are of consensual age and understand what a true and loving relationship built on a deep sense of trust, integrity and openness is then this is the kind of intimacy I’m talking about. Sex has a number of proven benefits for your health but I’d like to reiterate that sex is a sacred union and should not be engaged in flippantly.  READ MORE about the benefits of the side-ways tango HERE.
  16. Candid Coffee and Caffeine — Interesting that I stuck this one at the end…not really.  I LOVE coffee but I know that it affects me badly.  I still sneak in a cup or two every week (*slap on the hand* ) but I am totally aware of what it does to my body (severe lower back pain due to the detoxification of the adrenal glands on top of the kidneys).  You can READ MORE about it HERE.  I know, it’s a real bummer and believe you me, I’ve tried so hard to debunk that coffee is bad for you but, alas, to no avail — got to tell it like it is.  When I went through my coffee detox I climbed the walls with my eyelashes for 8 days — the pain was that bad!  Coffee is toxic and make no mistake, it’s a drug.

Will doing all these things above guarantee a disease-free body?  I can’t answer that.  The only thing I can guarantee is that you will regret not trying.  It’s more difficult to live with ‘what if’s’ than knowing you tried your best to look after yourself.

Rome wasn’t built in a day and don’t completely overwhelm yourself trying to adopt these life changes.

Start slowly and steadily by choosing one thing from the above list to incorporate every week and see how your life and body starts to change.

Attitude vs No-Tolerance Bullshit-o-meter

You may say today that you don’t give a shit about what you’re putting into your body but let me tell you — the day your body starts packing up is the day that you will bloody eat those words!

Get real and start treating your body like the divine temple it is.

If, after reading this article, you ask (and, yes, I can read your mind):

  • What’s the point in living if you can’t eat sugar, fast food and alcohol?

My answer has to be that you are sorely missing the point of life.

Life is for grand adventures, loving relationships, meaningful encounters, creative expansion and joyful explorations — if you are only living for your next oral fix then you’re kind of missing the game entirely.

Don’t live to eat — eat to live.  Don’t let any thing come between you, your ideal body and an ecstatic life.  Besides there is much to be enjoyed by eating healthfully — you’ve just got to give it a chance.

Make a New LIFE Resolution (It’s Much More Powerful than a New Year’s Resolution)!

New Life Resolutions Cherie Roe Dirksen

New Year, Blah Blah…

“When you map a way to your success by gradually achieving your markers, then you are proactively making new LIFE resolutions.”

We’ve just entered our first week of the new year and I bet a lot of the best-intentioned resolutions you made have already been kicked to the curb.  Was it all just a bunch of yada-yada on New Year’s Eve?

Thing is, it’s difficult to suddenly change a way of doing something overnight.  Of course, it is admirable to make better choices in our lives but we also need to be kind to ourselves.

What does that mean?  Are you off the hook to go binge drink or keep smoking that pack of fags?

Not entirely.

Decisions for Life

“The key is to be gentle with yourself and take baby steps to a goal.”

When we make resolutions, they are usually set with the intention of bettering our lives by improving on health, wealth, relationship, etc. — right?

Here’s the part where you have to be kind to yourself — Rome wasn’t built in a day!

When we make resolutions to sever bad habits ‘from this day on’, we don’t usually allow ourselves to digress — it’s make or break time.  However, we are all human (well, most of us anyway) and we all make mistakes.

The key is to be gentle with yourself and take baby steps to a goal.

Sustainable Solutions

It’s brilliant to want to make improvements to your life.

When you map a way to your success by gradually achieving your markers, then you are proactively making new LIFE resolutions.

Whatever you want to quit, try to first cut back on — this way you won’t overwhelm yourself and plunge into old habits after your first deviation.

Become more aware if you do fall off the bandwagon.  Don’t judge yourself.  Just pick yourself up and dust off — reassure yourself you’ll do better next time around.

For example:  if you really feel like something, have it (within reason).  Consciously consume it with the awareness of what you are doing.  This way you bring your consciousness into the forefront of the behavior or addiction and you can simply observe yourself in the act.

In moments of quiet reflection, ask yourself:

  • How did this make me feel?
  • Is that why I did it?
  • How do I feel now that I’ve done it?
  • How can I better serve myself next time?
  • Is there something else I can do to get that fix naturally?

Awareness is salient to change.

Change is the only constant and we are all always in flux — it’s something we simply can’t avoid.  So embrace your new intentions with the will to slowly and steadily shift into that new way of being.  Forgive yourself for veering, if you do, and congratulate yourself on what you have achieved.

New Life Resolutions With Staying Power!

As we see the old year out and get ready to welcome the new year in, let’s try to make our new year’s resolutions ones that will stick.

It’s easy to make big plans for gigantic change but not so easy to stick to the program, especially as the best laid plans are usually made in the peak of our festive celebrations where the punch, and not the person, is talking.

Here are the simplified 10 steps I wrote about in my manifesto, ‘New Life Resolutions’ (which goes into more detail of how you can practically apply these steps — you can download it for FREE when you sign up HERE).

These are changes anyone can introduce into their life in a sustainable manner.  Even if you start off by doing 1 of these things a month, by the end of the year you will be a new person.

Good luck and may 2015 be a most magical year for you!NLR Quote by Cherie Roe Dirksen

System Reboot

I don’t know about you, but I’ve kind of slipped off the bandwagon lately with regards to ‘me’ time.  I don’t know if its got to do with moving house and having an endless list of things to do or being in the midst of the silly season but quiet, reflective time is relatively scarce.

Or is it?

I realized that all that is really needed when we fall from the above-mentioned carriage is to get up and dust off.  A kind of rebooting is required.

Simple Ways to Reconnect with Spirit

So, as I was thinking about all the yoga, meditation, reading and general connecting with spirit I have been neglecting, I saw that all I needed was a swift kick in the derriere to get myself motivated again.

All we need are simple tweaks in our daily routine to get back on track.

Speaking of tracks…when I was composing my mood music albumNature Calling’, the first song I wrote was called ‘Harmony’.  I actually composed it as a zoning out, meditation tune — a quick 5-minuter that can realign you and make you feel at peace with self and nature (which I will be offering to you as a free download below).

So first on the list of reconnecting with self is:

  • Take 5 — As little as 5 minutes meditation time can give you an added boost to your day. You can do this in silence, you can find a guided meditation that works for you (there are loads on YouTube) or you can pick a relaxing tune to chill to. I am offering my track ‘Harmony’ as a FREE DOWNLOAD HERE so you can have a go-to track readily available whenever you need it.
  • Stretch It — Do some stretching exercises to release tension and get you feeling all loosey-goosey. I have been doing a quick 5 minute yoga stretching routine for years now  — something I picked up from a Deepak Chopra book — and it works wonders. You can type in ‘stretching yoga exercises’ into Google and get some quick and easy ideas of how to do this.
  • Grounding/Earthing — This one is uber simple to do. Go outside (where there is earth or grass), take your shoes off and feel Gaia’s energy! This is such an awesome practice and it is so healing. Read more about Earthing here on CLN: Grounding for Body Equilibrium and Health
  • Hu — No, this is not taking time out to perve over Hugh Jackman, Hugh Grant, Hugh Laurie or any other fine Hugh-named celebrity. It’s an ancient practice of sounding out the word ‘HU’ (pronounced like ‘Hugh’ or ‘hue’) to get in touch with the God-self. It’s a great mantra to use for overall well-being.  For more about the HU technique CLICK HERE.
  • Reading — This is also something that I love to do but sometimes find little time for. But really? One doesn’t have to finish a novel to get the benefit of a bit of reading down-time — you can surely put your feet up for just 10 minutes to get the advantage of loafing with a book?!
  • Get Real — This last one is about what you’re putting into your beautiful, divine body! Yip, I can just feel you rolling your eyes. It’s especially hard to remember to honour your sacred, fleshy temple when Christmas feasting is just around the corner. I’m not saying you can’t indulge a little, just try to be mindful. A few minor adjustments could mean a world of difference to how you’re feeling. Drink lots of pure water before and after drinking things like coffee or alcohol. Remember to add equal amounts of fresh fruit and veg to your daily meals. Tune into your body on a regular basis to see if what you’re putting in is affecting what you’re getting out.

Use this list as a little bag of tricks that is doable and doesn’t require a hell of a lot of prep work or time.

Especially now that we are in the peak of the holiday season and spending oodles of time with family and friends, never mind the over-indulgence that is brimming on the horizon (brace for impact)!

You’re going to need all the help you can give yourself.

The Remedy for Everything at the Tip of Your Tongue

I want to share an ancient mantra/prayer with you and it is simply to sound out the word HU (pronounced like Hugh or hue). It is used to harmonize and retune the very atoms of your body.

Background Credentials

The HU has been used by various different cultures over thousands of years.  It is a way to align with God or Source.

HU is actually an ancient name for God and is thought to be derived from the Sanskrit word ‘HU’.

Ancient Egyptians and Greeks also referred to the word HU as a reference to God.  It is interesting to note that we are HUmans — God in the form of (wo)man.

Many different religions, such as Sufism and the Kabbalah, talk about the HU as the original sound of the universe.

Using HU Now

When you sound out the mantra HU (you can also do it silently in the mind but I prefer to chant it out loud) you are aligning with source.  I feel, it gives off an immense sense of personal power.

The first time I ever heard of it was on an Art Bell show — I, unfortunately, don’t remember the guests but it was a couple (it could indeed have been this couple: http://www.divinedecisionmaking.com/Just_Say_HU_Technique.html).

I tried it immediately and I now do it every evening before bed. I remember them saying that it sealed off your aura.  So, if during the day, you had any breaks, bleeds or leaks in your auric field, the HU makes sure they’re healed.

I do it by:

  1. Taking a deep breath and then
  2. Letting out a long HUUUUUUU until all the air is out of my lungs
  3. I then repeat this 3 times (you can do it as many times as you like).
  4. Make sure you do this as a daily practice for optimum results.

When I first started this practice, my husband would always finish off my chant with a ‘Grant’ or ‘Laurie’ or ‘Jackman’ — the joker he is! 😀

Reasons to start HU-ing today:

  • Relieves anxiety, fear, tension and depression
  • Induces joy, love and serenity
  • Wards of psychic or negative emotional attacks
  • Tunes you in to your higher ‘God-self’ vibration

HU today, (negativity) gone tomorrow!

“You can always alter your reality at any time.”

Owning Your Power

You’re probably familiar with the saying ‘what you think you create’ but how can you seriously filter every bad thought? Surely it’s a struggle worthy of giving up on before you even get started?

Certainly not.

There’s only one person responsible for what you think and do and that’s you. If the thought of being the creator of your reality scares the willies out of you, then read on…

The Freedom to Be Happy

“Emotions back your thoughts into manifestation.”

You will get a grip on your oh-so-powerful thought stream and you’ll be able to eventually steer those thoughts to benefit your life in ways that will make your head spin — in a good way!

Now it’s up to you to give yourself a reason to smile every day.

6 Essential Steps to Manage Stress

Peacock Nymph by Cherie Roe Dirksen

The Joy of Moving, Not!

It’s not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it.” — Hans Selye

I’ve just recently moved 300km from the outskirts of the Mother City to the rolling hills of the Karoo countryside.

Yes, it was a stressy move (especially as we had a cat who sulked at us for weeks for transporting her in a car) but once we had unpacked the mountain of boxes and had everything in its right place — it was time to relax. Or was it?

Stress Building Exercises

I have never felt more stressed out in my life!

Firstly, let me say that we had rented previously and this was our first home we’d actually bought. Now for all the home-owners out there you’ll know what I mean when I say that buying your own place — as exciting and gratifying as it is — comes with a never-ending ‘to-do’ list.

My partner and I have been working day and night, week day and weekend.

So in amongst the drilling, painting, erecting, digging, measuring, assembling, cleaning and various other forms of stress-building activities, I started getting some pretty clear signals — via my body — that I was starting to take my anxiety levels to new heights.

My symptoms went a little like this:

  • My shoulders ached (‘carrying’ too much — in this case it was anxiety)
  • My head hurt (too much on my mind — ‘what to do next’)
  • I kept on scraping and scratching my fingers and hands (perhaps a message to stop doing and rest?)
  • My legs started cramping and finally, I walked into an old and rusty steel rod that took a bit of my ankle out (another sign from the universe to stop and rest?!)
  • My emotions were running high and tears were at the ready too often (overwhelm)

Another thing weighing heavily on me was the fact that I had stopped working (as in ‘career’ working) for over 2 months and bills needed paying.

HELP!

I was drowning.

We’ve all been down this road before in some form or another. The thing is, what to do when we feel this sense of overwhelm and helplessness creep over us?

Tipping Point

When I had reached my tipping point (when I was actually getting ‘grounded’ by my physical aches and strains) I started looking at where I was going wrong. Oh boy, was I straying way off path!

Here is what I learnt:

  • Frequent Breaks — This is such a no-brainer but I actually need to remind myself to take 10 minutes out every now and again. I am the kind of person who starts a job and wants to see it done NOW. That’s actually just self-defeating and stupid. When you do that you usually rush the job and don’t do it properly. So, remember to take little breaks to become more productive in the long run and keep your sanity and body in check.
  • Hydrate and Nourish — Again, sometimes we are so ‘in the zone’ that we forget to take time out to eat and drink (or at least I do) which can cause a sudden drop in your blood-sugar levels. When you run yourself into the ground like this it isn’t easy to pick yourself up again. I get very ratty and irritable and the mood just spirals downwards. Before it gets to this stage make a point of drinking lots of water and eating healthy snacks.
  • Schedule — This step probably helped me the most. I sat down one morning and it took me just 10 minutes to figure out a game plan. I did a quick list of what I wanted to achieve work-wise and with house/garden chores for every day of the week. I have been sticking to this and my shoulder pain and head-aches have gone away. I don’t feel overly anxious all the time and now I feel I have an achievable order in which to get the jobs done.
  • Importance List — Sometimes we just need to organize ourselves better as in with the above ‘schedule’ step. But to go a step further, try to — on a weekly basis (or whatever suits you) — sort out the order of importance of each task. When you start knocking ‘em down you’ll feel great!
  • Joy — This comes to me in the form of just sitting/walking in nature and being. You can also call this step ‘meditation’. You’ve got to connect with your core daily in order to have a balanced existence. I went totally off the rails when I moved, feeling so overwhelmed with everything that needed to be done, that I forgot this vital step for weeks! Now I make a point of doing this as often as I possibly can every day.
  • Sleep — I am going to bed a lot earlier because I’m pretty much pooped every night (in a good, satisfied way though) but I am sleeping like a log. When I wake up in the morning I am refreshed and I start all over again with a spring in my step. I can’t express enough the importance of a good night’s sleep.   Make it happen! Drink chamomile or Valerian tea in the evening, wind down by listening to soothing music before bed, take a warm bath in lavender essential oil — do what you must to get that proper downtime that your body deserves.

These small and totally doable exercises helped me to take the edge off my stress levels, I hope they help you too.

Seriously, Did You Really Need to Say That?

Words quote

“Be Impeccable With Your Word. Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.” — Miguel Angel Ruiz

Sometimes we can blurb things without thinking.  However, when we make these slips we can do some serious damage.

Words are powerful and we hold the power to use them to impact negatively or positively on another.

Here are a few pointers to clarify if you should speak your mind or not:

  • What you are about to say might be the truth but is it necessary?  We sometimes feel that we should speak the truth, no matter what, but sometimes that is not the case.  Besides, whose truth is it anyway?  Try to ascertain if this particular truth is essential to the persons growth or safety and not just your ‘IMHO’ — if not, put a sock in it if it’s going to hurt them!
  • Is what you are saying necessary or are you just trying to be clever or right?  It’s difficult to try to bite your tongue and not give into making yourself right or fighting a point to the bitter end.  See if you can stop yourself if you can sense an argument brewing over a difference of opinion.  If you are trying to show off your incredible IQ, don’t.  If it’s for pure show-off purposes then I assure you, no-one likes a smartass.  Best to zip it.
  • Do you know — that split second before the words roll off your tongue — that you are about to hurt the person/s you are speaking to?  If the answer is ‘yes’, then no matter how much you feel justified to say it…think twice.  Just remember that if you intentionally are trying to cause someone pain it will visit you back (and some believe that it will be as much as 10 fold — or as little as 3 — but, shucks, who needs that?) in some way.

Try to see if you can identify unnecessary criticisms or remarks when you are interacting with your fellow human — no matter if they are friend, foe, colleague, family, partner, etc.

Next step — see if you can be impeccable with your word instead of blurting out your opinions.

Good luck!

Do You Believe in Magic?

Heather with Blue Butterflies by Cherie Roe Dirksen

I’m not going to be talking about the kind of magic that sees rabbits being pulled out of hats or pretty pink-clad fairy princesses riding on unicorns pulling candy-floss out of their arses.

No.  Magic exists, it just might not be in the shape or form of what we’re told magic is.

Magic is something unique and individual.  Miracles happen too, they’re just in the eye of the beholder.  Beauty is as paradoxical as magic and miracles but beauty exists, doesn’t it?

Beyond Your Boundaries Lies Wonderland

I am doing a 6 week course with the multi-talented, Eleftheria Kakambouras (you can visit her beautiful site HERE), and she said something that really stood out for me, ‘Magic happens outside of your comfort zone”.

Ooooooh — love that!

How profound!  But what does it mean?  Does magic even exist, I mean really?

Well, like I said before, I do think magic exists — it’s going to be different to each individual according to your beliefs, filters, experience and perspective.

Magic Redefined

What is magic for me?

The dictionary definition for magic says it all:  “The power of apparently influencing the course of events by using mysterious or supernatural forces.”

I find magic in synchronicity.  When you start to pay attention to synchronicity and how these ‘meaningful coincidences’ can change your life, you’ll start to rethink your definition of magic.

What about telepathy?  I have a few friends that share this awesome ‘magic’ trick every now and again.  It may not be your conventional idea of telepathy but we sure as hell read each others minds from time to time and across vast distances.

Magic is about bridging the seen and the unseen, however that looks in your universe.

So, what Eleftheria said about magic happening outside your comfort zone is all about pushing yourself beyond your own limitations — what you believe or think you are capable of and/or what ‘magic’ may really look/feel like to you.

The ball is in your proverbial court.

Try to conceive magic as going beyond your boundaries of what is ‘real’ and hoisting your ass out of comfort and normality (thanks for that pearl of wisdom, El!).

Fear Versus Magic

My phobia has been filming myself.  I’ve done it once or twice before and absolutely hated it.

That was so outside of my comfort zone because I had to deal with how I sound (eeeek) and all the idiosyncrasies of how I pull my mouth or flick my hair (yes, a bit OCD, I know!) or just what an absolute idiot I can be (now I just call it mad and proud!).

Magic Come Forth and Carrots Be Gone!

The magic arose for me whilst I was filming.

I am attempting to put together a series of vlogs for Youtube, so, I knew I had to face this demon and step out of my cushy little world of typing behind a computer screen.

I started off by video journaling every day (baby steps) — just little 2-3 minuters about my day or anything that popped into my head.  As I continued to do this I realized I was actually starting to become more ‘loose’, fluid and confident — a little more of ‘me’ in there.

I always felt that in the past, when I filmed myself, it was like someone had inserted a giant carrot up my backside because my ‘performance’ was so stiff and contrived.

Finally my ‘magic’ had seeped in and I was outside my ring of comfort and actually enjoying the results.

You Define the Magic

This is what I mean about magic being what you bring to it (how you define it not what society says it is).

A few weeks ago I would have told you it would take a miracle for me to be comfortable in front of a camera and now I am actually liking it!

I hope that this ability will open new and exciting doors for me — even if it is only to be able to truly express myself (all carrots removed).

Abraca-fecking-dabra!

Magic is what you make of it.  If people laugh at you for believing in magic — let them!

Are you having fun with your version of magic?  Yes?  Well then that’s all that matters.  Leave them to create their own reality without magic — there should be no judgment from either side.

How do you step out of your comfort zone and experience magic? You can make a start by asking yourself these questions:

  • What is it that you’re avoiding?
  • Is it something that makes you feel uncomfortable?
  • Do you know that this is the one thing that could unblock a lot for you?
  • Perhaps even lead you to greater opportunity?
  • How could you plot a course to overcome it bit by bit?
  • Are you willing to give it a try?
  • Are you willing to look at the world in a new light and experience magic of your own making?
  • Can you think of 3 things that happened in your life that had a magical essence about them?  This could be dreams that have come true to situations that turned into miracles when you thought the worst would happen.

See if you can give magic a more personal meaning.

A Request For More Videos

I have managed to record a short and sweet blurb on following your bliss for all my readers out there who are more keen on watching than reading :D.  You know who you are!

“Of all the spiritual and self-help books I’ve read, courses and workshops I’ve attended and inner work I’ve done – one question keeps popping up:  What is my purpose?  With equal vehemency, I’ve also found that the answer to this question is always and emphatically:  Joy.  Joy is your purpose.”

I’ll be discussing the steps you can take today to recognize and follow through on your passions.

  • Ever thought of leaving your job to do something you really want to do?
  • Been too scared to take the leap?
  • Finding it hard to take action?
  • Or perhaps you don’t even know what you want to do?
  • Maybe you don’t know how to make the transition?

I may be able to help.

Of all the spiritual and self-help books I’ve read, courses and workshops I’ve attended and inner work I’ve done — one question keeps popping up:

  • What is my purpose?

With equal vehemency, I’ve also found that the answer to this question is always and emphatically:

  • Joy.

Joy is your purpose.

Why You Should Start Loving Money Today!

Beach Fun by Cherie Roe Dirksen

How About Singing a New Tune?

Love is an amplifier — when you feel love it’s the most powerful energetic vibration in the universe (IMHO).

When you feel lack it brings more lack.  Ergo, shouldn’t we start packing up all our preconceived and deep-seated feelings that money is the root of all evil?  How about we start declaring that we LOVE money.

Did you feel a shudder just then?  It’s difficult for a lot of us to say that we love money!

It’s especially hard when you’re on a ‘spiritual’ path — aren’t you supposed to renounce money?

Why think that?

Money is a Tool — Nothing More, Nothing Less

Money is our current form of energy exchange.  It is a useful tool to get what we need.

The only ‘evil’ is what you do with the money.  We need to start getting VERY clear about why we want the green stuff.

If it’s to impress someone outside of yourself or gain some sort of prestige, you’re going to hit a wall.

Here’s a quick guide to check in to see if you’re wanting money for the right or wrong reasons (I use the terms ‘right and wrong’ very loosely as they are only perspectives — but I think you’ll know what I mean):

  • To want money to prove to your friends/parents that you’re successful — not so good reason (you’ll be out of alignment when you seek fulfillment outside of yourself).
  • To want money to travel the world and experience different cultures, etc — good reason (you’re doing it for yourself).

It can sometimes take the slightest of tweaks to align yourself with your true desires.

If you’ve always wanted money to buy a house and find that deep down inside you’ve wanted this desperately to impress your parents, well, try to align your new desire for a house to satisfy your needs (i.e. I want a house so that I can plant a sustainable garden and/or feel like I’m part of a community).

Manifestation, as far as I’m concerned, needs to be in line with your spirit (i.e. your specific journey).

Letting Go of Brainwashing

If you’ve had blocks regarding money now is the time to chuck ’em out the window!

Money isn’t to blame, you are.  Harsh, yup…but for those of us who have money blockages, we need a cold bucket of water dumped on our heads now to snap us out of this cycle.

There is a fear of success, did you know that?

Why would you fear success/wealth?

  • You may fear the tax man. Being rich means a lot of taxation and paperwork, right?
  • You may fear what people think of you if you were loaded (how do you view the rich — with loathing? Contempt? ‘Oh, he’s such an arrogant bastard, rich son of a b**tch’…bingo!  You are going to subconsciously worry about mirroring these beliefs and not want people to say those things behind your back).
  • You may fear the wrong type of attention you’ll get when you’ve got a fat bank balance (you know, the vultures come a-hovering).
  • You may fear that people will then only like you for what you’re worth or what they can get out of you. There is a fear of being taken advantage of.
  • You may fear that you’ll go off the deep end and wind up sipping cocktails, snorting coke and dancing with loose naked men/women on yachts and totally neglect your spiritual path.
  • You fear that money truly is from the devil and all it will bring is material, superficial pleasures that will lead to pain.

I’m here to tell you…bullshit.

You can actually be a really nice person and be rich…lol.  There are plenty of them in the world.

Dissecting the Nonsense We Tell Ourselves

If you can’t tell a genuine friend from a blood sucker by now, money is the least of your problems and growing a backbone may need to take top priority.

If you fear inland revenue, you’re always going to — whether you’re rich or poor.  Bonus is, if you’re rich you can hire an accountant.  So, don’t use that excuse as an obstruction.

If you fear what other people think, then you need to read this article and give yourself a kick up the arse: 9 Truths to Stop You  From Caring What Other People Think

If you really think money is from the devil, you may want to navigate to another site at this point.  People created money and it was actually a rather splendid idea — it solved a lot of problems that bartering alone couldn’t solve.

If you fear what you may do if you are rich (as in getting jacked up with too much honey and funny business) I think you’d know by now what kind of person you are.  You’re not going to suddenly change your tune if you get money and if you do, well, then there is a massive lesson in it for you that you had to obviously experience.

Just don’t let the ‘what if’s’ be your crutch.

Energy Exchanges and Changes

However, the true test is to not become attached to money.  If another system comes along that works better than money, great!  Just don’t see money as the enemy cause the only person you end up hurting is yourself.

Your perception of money could be the very thing holding you back from your wealth.

Declare every morning without guilt, shame or any other crappy little negative nuance, “I LOVE money”.  Remember to mean it!

If you feel constricted in your solar plexus (stomach area) or anywhere else you need to deeply go into why you feel anxious about declaring your love for loot. Be honest with yourself — there’s a lot at stake.

When I first tried declaring ‘I love money’ I felt really agitated in my solar plexus and I went on to discover that I felt a lot of fear around success (most of the above list was ticked!).

Then I got clear about it and realized it was all nonsense and stuff that I could chuck out quite easily.

Money isn’t the problem — people are.  Money can be a great tool for both good and evil.  The choice is yours.

Trust yourself to be a human being who wants the best for all humanity — abundance is our true birthright.  Start believing it!

By the way, ‘I love money’ can be used for anything you want to manifest.  For example:  ‘I love being healthy’.  Use the word ‘love’ as your new amplifier and trust in divine flow.

Why Rejection Can Be a Blessing

Rejection Blessing Header

You’re Such a Reject!

Rejection is not something we take kindly to.

Rejection, for most, is something to be avoided at all costs and if encountered we tend to slip into self-doubt, shame, self-flagellation and a variety of other negative emotions.

The thought of entering a situation that could lead to rejection makes us feel vulnerable. Eeek!  Another word that sends shivers down the spines of the most hardy.

But why?

Vulnerability — The Gateway to Testing the Waters of Potential

What is interesting is that vulnerability can indeed lead to rejection but rejection only ever equates to not being in vibrational alignment or frequential match to what we think we want.

Rejection QuoteWe should not take rejection personally.

In other words, when we experience rejection it is actually the universe saving us time and trouble when something is not in alignment with our destination.

We may not see it at the time and pine for what we think we ‘lost out’ on but we need to realign with the truth that it wasn’t meant to be in the first place and something else that is a frequential match is on the way.

Sometimes we are so hung up on the rejection that we miss the opportunity that the rejection made way for.

Savvy?

Embracing Rejection

Now you can face rejection with the renewed optimism that it is a divining rod that will eventually lead you to that bountiful spring!

Allow yourself to be vulnerable when you need to test the waters of a potential desire.  If rejected then allow yourself to hold your head high as you stride over to the next potential.

Rejection ultimately leads to refining your path.

Warning: 4 Reasons Why You Should Avoid Venus Fly-Traps

Girl with Flower Banner

“If everybody minded their own business, the world would go around a great deal faster than it does.” — The Duchess (Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland)

Hmmm, yes.  What is it about human nature that keeps our noses continuously stuck in other people’s affairs?

In my short and humble opinion, there are 4 possible reasons that instantly spring to mind (and they all involve a Venus Fly-Trap).

  1. The Smoky Mirror (a definite trap!)
  2. Avoidance (another trap that doesn’t involve Venus but a sticky void and a particularly intriguing dance.)
  3. Self-Importance/Ego (just like an irritating fly that won’t go away — where’s a trap when you need one?)
  4. Drama Addiction (the fully grown Venus Fly-Trap, or, perhaps more of a ‘shut your trap!’)

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall — Who’s the Smokiest of Us All?

Let’s take no.1 — that smoky mirror analogy.  People that volunteer themselves to get entwined in the business of their fellow man, usually have some characteristic of what they are judging about others lurking about in their own foggy behavior.

Sometimes we hide these attributes so well, that we can’t seem to see those attributes in ourselves.  This takes a lot of introspection to weed out.

Next time you find yourself judging someone else’s behavior, try to see if there is any essence of ‘you’ in the opinion.

The ‘smoky mirror’ (smoky = hard to see through, mirror = others reflected in us) is not going to be the case every time you identify or see a particular unnerving trait in another but the projection of our own inadequacies sure does tend to happen a lot, so be aware and look out for it — best to nip this mannerism in the bud before the bud turns into a fairly peckish Venus Fly-Trap and makes a meal out of you.

Dancing in the Void (A-Void-Dance)

No. 2 is similar to no. 1.  Avoidance is just not being able to take responsibility for your own short-comings, so you deflect the attention to make yourself look and feel better.  In other words, you know you’re a gossip but you make sure you let the world know what an even bigger tittle-tattle Peggy-Sue is.

Now you’ve safely fudged over your own issues.  However, before success settles in just remember that you’ve  got to face your shadow head-on or that Venus Fly-Trap is gonna get ya!

Shoo Fly —  Don’t Bother Me!!!

“…nothing kills the ego more than hilarity and humility…”

Good ‘ol no. 3 is that juicy little shit-stirrer — the ego.  The ego thrives off drama and misery and putting itself ahead of the pack.  Sticking your nose into someone else’s business is ego-fodder.

You can make yourself better than, slimmer/tottier (I’m sure I just made that word up!) than, prettier/handsomer than, cleverer than, more successful than so-and-so just because it gives your ego those 15 minutes of superiority— even if you don’t say it out loud.

The silent ego is just as dangerous as the overly loquacious  e-goo (terribly gooey and all that jazz).

Just like the sticky residue in the Venus Fly-Trap — your icky e-goo can get you into some sticky situations if you are not aware it’s rearing that self-important head (down boy!).

When the ego has you by the short and curlies, you tend to compare yourself and you’re usually the one that comes out on top.  However, don’t be fooled!  The ego is cunning and manipulative and can make you feel less than too.  Both are a trap and both are easily avoided with the light of your illuminating awareness.

Have a good laugh at your ego if you find yourself in its throes — nothing kills the ego more than hilarity and humility.  Show the ego who’s boss — they key is to control the ego and not to let it control you.

The Amateur Dramatics Society — Putting on a Show Near You!

“Remember that taking offence is a choice.”

No. 4 is like the smorgasbord of the lot — you can find a little bit of each trait in no. 4 — the drama addict!

Have you noticed how some people cannot live without drama?

There you are trying to get off the wheel of karma and leave your drama at the door while others are trying to hook you back into the cycle.

There are some people who will purposefully go out and purchase a ravenous Venus Fly-Trap, stick their finger in the jaws of the plant and howl when it clamps down and draws blood.  If you are one of these eager consumers, I wish you luck on your journey and can’t quite understand the pay off.

However, if you are someone who wants to keep a potting shed full of petunias rather than a carnivorous plant, take my advice and set your boundaries.

If someone is trying to lure you into drama, don’t try to run away from them (fence-sitting is just not an option anymore — you know it will always come back at you until you face it), don’t confront them with the ego (as in start an argument — you will then have stepped right into the trap and fed the drama) — simply speak your truth or stand firm in your conviction (whatever that may be) and walk away if appropriate.

Empowerment is always about standing your ground and not letting people overstep your boundaries and doing that in a way that does not provoke aggression or submissiveness.

You’ve got to aim straight down the center and tell it like it is — speak your truth and straight from the heart.  If you offend someone, that is their choice and they will have to deal with it.  Remember that taking offence is a choice.

The Long and Short of Your Schnozzle

As you probably figured out by now, this article has got very little to do with Venus Fly-Traps — disappointing, I’m sure.  So, what’s the moral of this tale?  Live and let live.

You can powder your nose, you can blow your nose, heck, you can even pick your nose if that’s your thing — but whatever you do, keep your nose out of other people’s business.  If they want your hooter present they’ll ask for it.

Feel Like a Rug Has Been Pulled Out From Underneath?

The Boys by Cherie Roe DirksenI’m here with another sneak peek that I was able to grab from the producers of the When Everything Changes, Change Everything: Highlights from an Extraordinary Spiritual Renewal Retreat with Neale Donald Walsch DVD, which presents a huge number of the tools in his book and how to apply them into real life situations.

Ever Got Your Hopes Up For Nothing?

One attendee felt like he had lost it all. He was a filmmaker who had mad passion for his film, only to have his project be picked up by a studio. All his dreams and aspirations looked like they were finally going to come true. Contracts were being drawn up, production schedules being set. He felt he had finally made his big break.

And then, one day, it all stopped.

The studio dropped his project, and it was deemed “impossible” to be made even by another studio due to the specific type of project. He felt his dreams shatter. He said he understands that he should be okay with it and move on, but it’s easier said than done. “How do you let go?” he asks.

Neale offers these words:

Sometimes we confuse purpose with function. And we think that our purpose is to achieve something and that there’s only one way to function that out. But if we get very clear, we get very aware that the fulfilling of a purpose does not require the performing of a specific function in a particular way. There may be other ways to meet that same purpose.  Most people because of the limited perspective that they hold confuse function and purpose. And when the function is taken away it looks as if the purpose can’t be fulfilled.

Neale also explains what happens when we realize that there are other ways to fulfill our purpose than just one, and explores how to determine what one’s purpose is.

Waiting For the Right Door

It’s important to remember that just because one door closes it doesn’t necessarily mean that your idea is not sound — there are plenty of other doors that will make themselves available to you when you are in alignment with your purpose.

Sometimes those doors also don’t look exactly like what we expect — so it’s also important not to try and control the outcome (i.e. ‘I only want a pink door with oak finishes‘ instead of allowing: ‘I trust the Universe’s door will be the quickest way to my success’).

We sometimes give up just before the right door is about to open.

Is Today the Day to Take Charge and Change your Situation?

If you are at a loss as to how to navigate the changes in your life, I recommend this informative and memorable time with Neale, all packed into a 7-disc DVD set of highlights from his Spiritual Renewal Retreat, which has just been released today, Thursday, April 24th.

Obviously nothing can compare with attending one of Neale’s retreats in person, but these highlights, filmed at an actual live retreat, give you the next best thing.

Just click the link below to gift yourself (or a friend/loved one) with this life-changing DVD set.  Or, perhaps you know someone who you feel could benefit from a new perspective on the changes we all face in the world right now…

10 Reasons Why I Don’t Care Anymore and Neither Should You

Elegance by Cherie Roe Dirksen BannerCan You Relate to These Questions?

There has been too much coincidence of people experiencing these symptoms for me to ignore this any longer.  Let me jump right in the deep end:

  • Are you feeling a great amount of detachment lately from things that would normally bother you regarding your career, home life, worries or life in general?
  • Do you have a ‘devil-may-care’ attitude all of a sudden (as in ‘I don’t give a hoot’ or you couldn’t be asked to bat an eyelid)?
  • Are you struggling to get going this year?  Like you’re stuck in neutral?
  • Do you try to shift gears and get things done but more stuff is piling up and you just don’t have the vooma to carry on?
  • Do you feel that nothing is worth the effort anymore and it’s time to throw in the towel?
  • Do you feel like you’re trying to fit a round into a square?  Things just aren’t fitting anymore and there you are huffing and puffing trying to make it fit!
  • Have you been asking yourself, ‘What’s wrong with me?’

You’ve just stumbled upon a major quagmire that has got most of us quasi-global citizens in it’s lethargic grip.

“What is it, what’s going on?”  I hear you cry!

I’m not 100% sure but I’m going to give it a shot filtering it through my own realizations of late.  We are experiencing a death and rebirth of our selves.

Goodbye Old Me and Hello New Who?

I’ve gone through the above questions like an old computer trying to scour for an answer to a rather outdated formula.  What have I come up with?  Here it goes:

  • I don’t care what people think of me (their opinions are none of my business)
  • I don’t care what other’s expect of me (I’m doing my best!)
  • I don’t care if I die tomorrow (acceptance rather than denial)
  • I don’t care about my career or where I thought I was heading just a few months ago (it’s not really that important in the greater scheme of things)
  • I don’t care if I end up under a bridge (bridges can be quite nice actually)
  • I don’t care if this world is or isn’t experiencing a shift of paradigm (such hype!)
  • I don’t care if everything I believe to be true isn’t (ooh, there’s a big one!)
  • I don’t care that I don’t care (this is where I stick my tongue out)
  • I don’t care….well, yes, I’m sure you get the picture now

But the crux is, I think I just died to my former self.  Who am I?  No, just rather — I AM.

It feels like my mind, spirit and body have had a rather cleansing enema.  The moment I started detaching from what I wanted to manifest I, you guessed it, started to manifest all those things at a rapid pace.

I suppose you could call it your very own eternal sunshine of the spotless mind so you can start with a clean slate to create this dream life you’ve always wanted.

Why It’s Necessary to Experience Your Own Death (Metaphorically Speaking)

In my humble opinion, I think one has to truly and utterly — with every fiber of your body — die to your old way of thinking/operating/being to open up to the new paradigm that is practically kicking down your door to be let in.

This entails detaching from past auto-responsive behaviours to make way for new neural connections that will allow you to react in a way that is grounded, balanced and coming from your heart and not your head.

Detaching from the expectations and opinions of others about you — there is no more need to defend yourself, your career (or lack of) choices, your partner (or lack of) choices, your beliefs (or lack of…lol), your version of reality (or illusion) or anything else you may have felt defensive about in the past.

IT DOESN’T MATTER ANYMORE AND YOU HAVE NO NEED TO DEFEND IT.

Phew!  What a bloody relief!!!

What Needs To Stay and What Will Depart

Those who will love and respect you enough to let you be will remain in your life and those who will not be able to bear not being able to manipulate you anymore will leave (albeit kicking and screaming).

Be the still presence and just watch how things unfold.  Don’t give in to external demands (not unless you’ve made peace with what is being asked of you) — just be silent, bask in the stillness. Eventually what needs to fall away will.

Where there is no two opposing energies feeding a situation, the energy will move on.

Walk the Talk and Dance the Tango

Now is the time to stop talking about what you know or believe and to LIVE it.  Show others by example (how cool would that be?) and not by rabbiting on about it (unless someone asks you for your opinion).  Dance like no-ones watching — even if it is down the aisles at your local supermarket.

Be the change you want to see (thanks, Gandhi) and live for joy and upliftment for yourself and those around you.  If someone or something tries to drag you down — alchemize them/it.  What does that mean?

Keeping You in Suspenders (a Phrase my Father Would Say in Lieu of ‘Suspense’)

How to alchemize a situation?  Ah, that’s for next weeks blog.

For now, be kind to yourself if you are going through this death/rebirth stage.  Drink plenty of water, eat wholesome foods, meditate, do yoga/go for a walk, be in nature (ground yourself!) and keep setting your intentions to feel bliss every day.

What Popped Up in a Guided Meditation and How it Coincided With Plato

Manifesting What You Do and Don’t Want Well, this year showed up with a tremendous thump on the head (thanks to inland revenue — need I say more?) followed by some truly spectacular fireworks and major realizations! The good and the bad have been a-knocking at my door, testing my patience and resolve.  How have the first few weeks of this year been for you? To sum it all up:  This year is going to be about manifesting big time!  Trouble is, if you’re thoughts aren’t in alignment with what you want, you’re also going to create what you don’t want with extreme haste (as I found out a week ago when I faced ‘external authority’). That’s why I urge you to sit down and draw up 7 things you wish to make happen this year.  Read the blog HERE. My Tribe and the Guided Meditation Now, I want to share something uber personal with you.  I got together with my tribe of 4 fantastic femme’s last week for a guided meditation and goal setting orientation for the year. It was an eye-opening experience.  But I didn’t truly ‘get’ it until I stumbled upon an animated 8 minute video illustrating a theory that Plato had (I’ll show you at the end of this blog — please do yourself a favour and watch it.  You are going to be amazed!). It totally coincided with what my higher self was showing me in my meditation. I’m going to try to be short and to the point and I’m going to show you the actual drawings I did whilst having the vision (so it’s going to be a bit rough). Totems, Temples and the Source At first, in our guided meditation, we were taken by our animal totems to a temple:

  • My totem was an owl who flew out ahead of me as my guide.

    Sun Illustration 1

    Illustration 1 – the Sun/Source

  • I got to the temple and sat down on a bench.  I looked up and saw a door and went to look through it.
  • There I saw a lake with reflections of trees in it.  I turned to my left and saw the sun/source — a brilliant white light surrounded by swirly whirly’s (see illustration 1).
  • I turned to the right and saw tree silhouettes turn into a circle (a kind of mandala — see illustration 2) and then the trees morphed into human figures (for those of you who know my art — it was very much like what I paint…see picture at the top of the blog), the branches entwining to make hearts and DNA.  I got the feeling that the tree’s represented our higher selves and the spirit realm wanting to express love and unity in our 3D reality/the dream/game of life being shown to us in the ‘higher’ realm of communication.

    Tree Circle Illustration 2

Illustration 2 – Circle of Trees

  • In the center of the circle was water and the reflections of the trees.  It sometimes shifted into the sun in the middle as well.
  • I got the impression that the water was reflecting back to us what we are creating through feeling/emotion and that the trees were actually our ‘higher selves’ or the spirit realm conducting the creations in the pool of water (our 3D reality).
  • The keywords with this vision were about love, reaching out (or ‘branching out’, as the case may be), water reflections (our 3D experience being mirrored back to us in the spirit realm and vice versa), strong unity connection (the roots of the trees were entwined as a collective experience).

The 2014 Focus What I got from this guided meditation was to:

  1. Ground Yourself Daily — Feel connected to the earth and nature (i.e. be grounded BIG TIME!).
  2. Get Creative — Express that soul connection through creativity as often as you can.

When I tapped into the crux of what my soul was trying to convey, I got this message:

“Show what cannot be spoken.”

Now this is all great, but how does this affect you?  And where is Plato in all of this?

Well, here is the video I want you to watch:

I was introduced to this video through an article on a site called ‘2012 The Big Picture’ — You can read the article here. After seeing this video, I got the bigger picture of the message behind the visualization I received in my meditation.  Don’t you just LOVE how synchronicity works!!! 😀 UPDATE:  I have completed the painting I saw in this meditation — you can read the blog about it HERE:  The Tree of Life — Can You Relate?

2014 — The Year to Sculpt Your Life!

Goodbye and Don’t Let the Door Hit You on the Way Out!

With a warm and cheery smile, we wave goodbye to the year 2013 — what a ride it has been!

Weaving Reality CRD

I have to admit that it was the most trying year I’ve had for a very long time.  It had some epic moments — I met new and wonderful people and I sorted out a lot of mental and physical debris that needed spring-cleaning and reshuffling.

On the other hand, it has been a year of lessons, trials, endings and constant testing.  Anyone else experience this on a grand scale?

It has been the year of exhaustion — both mental and physical.  I have never spent so many hours with my feet up staring at the ceiling!

New Hope, New Beginnings — List Your 7 Wonders

But, what have we here?  A new year.  What ho!

A chance to start a-fresh, to set some new intentions and to hone down on our desires.

What is it you want to see manifest this year?  Have you given it a thought?  If not, now is the right time to set down, on paper, some of your hopes and dreams for the next 365 days.

  • Try think of 7 things that you want — big or small.
  • Start off with something believable, like for instance, a visit from an old friend or a bunch of flowers.  Then work your way up the scale until you’re plotting out your dream home/job/partner/situation, etc.
  • Give yourself a time-frame that you want to see these things manifest.
  • Make notes on how you can take action where applicable to realize these desires.
  • For all the rest, visualize your butt off!  Or, even better, make or update your vision board.
  • Have fun doing this, don’t see it as a chore.  Look at it like you are a magnificent artist sculpting your life into an awesome masterpiece!
  • Lastly, take out this list every morning and read it out loud to yourself.  Don’t skip this step.  It’s not about hocus-pocus or fairy-dust wishes, it’s about aligning to your desires daily and exciting those neuro-peptides into action.  Sometimes we inadvertently forget what we want, so to verbalize this list every day brings you back to the core of your request and direction.

I wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year.  Let’s make 2014 the start to something brilliant!

Why You Should Strive to be a Nobody

Give Up Caring!

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt

There is nothing more freeing than to give up caring about what other people think of you or expect from you.

Some people will just thrive on categorizing and putting you in a box.

Your job is to remember that this is not for your benefit, it’s for theirs. If you are kept ‘small’ and constrained in that little box with all its sticky labels then they don’t have to feel bad about their own perceived inadequacies.

Gone with the Wind

Let your hang ups on how other people perceive you get carried away on a gentle breeze (or a tumultuous tornado — the choice is yours).

You can literally stand on your head and fart Bohemian Rhapsody and they will still see you as tiny so-and-so from school with the braids and the knobbly knees instead of the musical genius you are that would take their breath away (in more ways than one)!

Pull the labels off your box (whether you or someone else has stuck those tags on) and give up on any kind of classification whatsoever.

You’re an Amazing Little Dumpling!

You are as unique as your fingerprints!

If you label yourself you restrict the flow of life and creativity especially when you start identifying with that role.

Meet Your Cosmic Self

You are everything and nothing — infinite possibility!

What I mean by that is you can achieve anything you set your mind to (as thoughts create your experience) but without identifying with what you are creating you become ‘no-thing’ — detached and at peace.

You will only suffer when you attach yourself to what you do because eventually you will move on and then you will feel loss as your identity slips out the window.

If I could be so bold as to suggest a new mantra when you awake to each new day —

‘I am whatever I choose to be today’.

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.” ― Bernard M. Baruch

“The eyes of others our prisons; their thoughts our cages.”

Here’s Your Crown — You Are Sovereign!

Butterfly on Red Poppies

You’re Bloody Amazing!

Let’s cut through the brown stuff here and get straight to the crux.

  • Most of us have been on a journey of breaking down our programming that we are ‘less than’/sinners/victims/mortal and we are starting to let our heads venture out of our tortoise shells to catch a glimpse of our innate, immortal muchness.
  • We have been clearing out and sifting through all our crap to ‘find’ ourselves and where we belong in this crazy world.
  • We are building a bridge to the ‘other side’ to cross over into a new paradigm/dimension where we are 100% co-creators of our experience.
  • We have had it up to here (*hand on forehead*) and our bullshit-o-meter has finally tipped.

So what is this crazy woman on about?

Stop and Feel that Energy!

Forget about all the past rubbish, karma crapola, wobbly bobbly stuff that keeps you tethered to the past in those dramatic scenarios like:  ‘what was I in a past life?’;  ‘I’m ironing out my karma’;  ‘I need to work through this stuff before I am enlightened’;  ‘when will I see the light at the end of the tunnel’ type balderdash and own it today. It’s just too easy to get stuck looking back and forget to move forward.

This is the first day of the rest of your existence, you immortal powerful little sausages!

Don’t buy into it anymore — you are YOU now.  Right this very moment you can void out any contracts/implants/agreements you have made that ties you to ANYTHING. You have the power and have always had the power — you’ve just been suffering with a bout of amnesia.

It’s time to re-member that you are:

  • Sovereign/Divine/Part of God/The I Am that I Am (whatever you want to call it)
  • In the Now (not tethered to any karmic contract/past life ‘wrong’/programmed belief — you just are.  Full stop. Declare that you will now release any karma or trapped emotions in your body and that you revoke any contract you made that is holding you back from your higher purpose and at-one-ment with God/Source.
  • Required to be authentically YOU.
  • Reminded to do whatever you like as long as you do not infringe on anyone/things right to freewill/choice, etc and is in line with your higher self. Spirit wants you to be in joy.

If you have gone into information overload (which it’s easy to do in this cyber age), remember that it’s also healthy to unplug from other people/channels/ascended masters/archangels/ET’s who are telling you what to do, how to act or anything else that comes from OUTSIDE YOUR SELF.

Be very aware of what your gut instinct is telling you and discern the truth by checking in with your spirit or innate awareness.

Let This Moment Mark the Beginning of a New You!

Fellow souls, rise up today and let’s own our divine birthright together.  Today we stand up and declare that we will not be taking it up the arse any longer.

Affirmation (feel free to adapt):  I AM GOD SOVEREIGN.  I WILL EXERCISE MY FREEWILL FROM THIS MOMENT ONWARD.  I GOVERN MY OWN EXISTENCE.  I AM THE LIGHT, I AM THE LOVE.

Repeat this daily until you live, think, eat, breath and truly embody this truth.

3 Ways to Alchemize Chaos

How to use a Little Spiritual Alchemy

Do you sometimes feel that you are manifesting the good along with the bad? The good manifestations are fantastic but what do you do when you have created a not-so-desirable situation?

The best thing to do is to start to see your potential problems in a new light — what can they teach you?

Once you figure out why they are there and what your lesson is you can turn them around.  Does it work?  Hell yes!

Here’s some helpful advice:

  • Accept — when life throws a curve-ball (or 3 or 4 or 12 or whatever your circumstance has chucked at you recently), you need to give yourself some time and space to absorb.  To give your acceptance to what cannot change because resisting it will fuel its growth or allow more negativity to enter your slipstream.  Acceptance can even transmute the problem as you give it no power.  You can visualize how you would rather see it and then let it go.  I did this with many problems I have recently faced to see those very situations change to positive in a very short time and I did very little (just a bit of positive affirmations and visualizations) to make it happen.
  • Act — take action with what you can do and don’t stress about what you are not able to do.  Simply knocking down one thing after the other gives a great sense of satisfaction even if you have a mountain of things to do.  You will conquer Everest one step at a time.  Then when you look back, you’ll see just how much you can get done and how powerful a being you are.  I felt completely swamped lately with so much to do but little by little I got things done.  Most of the ‘struggle’ was actually in my mind.  I still have a few things to wrap up but I know I’ll get it all done in divine time!
  • Trust in the Flow — I find myself surrendering to the present moment a lot and blissing out even amidst the most chaotic times.  I just have a knowing that I am in that Universal flow and everything is going to be alright.  So exercise that grounding present moment awareness and trust that everything is in divine order.  I have literally sat back and watched the most astounding things flow and fit into place like a giant jigsaw puzzle that I could never have orchestrated if I tried to control the outcome.

Try and perceive your problems as learning curves and transmute the bad to good — after all, you’re an alchemist you know?! Read related article: Why Rejection Can Be a Blessing

The Definition of Alchemy

In times bygone, alchemy was turning matter into gold (the short and sweet version :D).

What you are going to achieve with ‘spiritual’ alchemy is turn your ‘matter’ (situations, etc) into ‘gold’ (treasure/abundance/wealth).

To alchemize a situation is to step inside it and transmute it from the inside out.  Get into what is bugging you (through meditation or quiet visualization) and start working your magic — find that gem of understanding/learning that the situation has to offer and morph it (through picturing what you want to see in your mind’s eye) into what you do want to see manifest in your life.

Keep on aligning yourself to your ‘new’ vision especially when you feel that sinking feeling in your stomach (solar plexus) when thinking about the distress it may be causing (keep alchemizing it!).

Please let me know if this works for you (leave a comment below). 🙂  I love to hear your feedback.

How to Add Spectacular Drama to Your Life!

How to Add Spectacular Drama to Your Life!

Got your attention, right?  Surely it should be illegal, if not banned, for a self-help writer to promote drama in one’s life?

Yes, under other circumstances — as in ‘karma drama’ and negative or destructive repetitive behaviour) but I’m referring to a good type of drama.  Huh?  Yes, there is a good kind of drama.

“Every man can transform the world from one of monotony and drabness to one of excitement and adventure.”
Irving Wallace

Here’s one of the dictionary definitions for the type of drama I’m referring to:

(def.) an exciting, emotional, or unexpected series of events or set of circumstances.

Ground Hog Day Revisited

Ever feel like you are on a life-loop — repeating the same thing day in and day out?

Well done if you answered ‘no’ to this — you’re doing great.  However, most of us have our moments when we feel the  monotony of our daily schedule creep up and douse us with the cold, watery pangs of tedium.

Thing is, what do we do to add some spice?  Come on…think!  What can one do to inject some adventure into life?

Well, I suppose I should offer up some advice, so here it goes:

  • Get Creative — start looking at your schedule and see if there is any way you can add a sparkle to your routine.  Even if this means dressing up like Ziggy Stardust or Cyndi Lauper whilst vacuuming (after all, girls just want to have fun and boys keep swinging).  Anything out of the ordinary can add zest to your life.  Or perhaps it may come in the form of you and your children listening to an old classic audiobook, that you have been threatening to read to them, whilst commuting to school or extra-mural activities.  You’ll be surprised how everyone starts to enjoy being stuck in traffic!
  • Do Something Unexpected — this depends on your personality type, of course.  Try doing something out of character.  Show the world you’re unpredictable (in a good way).  This doesn’t mean sticking pencils up your nose at the office but it could entail wearing your AC/DC shirt to the PTA meeting or treating yourself to a night on the town with your BFF’s.  Give yourself a shake-up, prove to yourself you’ve still got a pulse.  Boring is as boring does (thanks for that one, Forrest!)
  • Tourist Hangouts — here’s something different that’s usually a hoot!  Go hang out where there’s a lot of tourists about.  I tell you, it’s great stuff!  You get to see and experience different cultures on your own doorstep.  I like to loiter at Boulders in Cape Point (a penguin colony near where I live) because I see all types there and it’s great fun to watch all the different reactions to our little black and white flightless seabirds (especially with the foreign children who have never seen one before).  I know this may seem like a strange suggestion but it really bolsters that sense of unity with the rest of the world and sometimes gives you an unexpected appreciation for your own roots.
  • Read — I know some of you reading this are already bookworms but for those who haven’t set foot in a library since the dawn of reality TV, dust off that library card and go scouting for some good books.  Just reading about other people’s adventures can kick-start your own ideas for merry pursuit and wild exploits.
  • Commit — lastly, just commit to trying to seek out adventure.  Catch yourself when you slip into complacency.  Go for a walk when you feel bored or give yourself that extra little nudge out the door when it comes to socializing and networking.  There is a whole world out there.  I won’t lie to you, it’s full of crazed weirdo’s but there are also some incredibly fantastic people just waiting for the opportunity to thrill you within an inch of your life (when you meet them, please inbox me their contact details).

Know thyself but try to get to know others too.  People have the strangest way of providing irrevocably bedazzling information and star-studded ideas that gets our saliva flowing and all we need to do is make the effort to mingle or strike up that conversation.

I hope this list has given you some fresh new ideas to start cooking up a few new recipes that will let the flavor of life carry you to tastier grounds.

“When all is said and done, monotony may after all be the best condition for creation.”
Margaret Sackville

Right, in saying that, where did I leave my gorilla costume?  I need to go out and get some bread and milk and frighten a few prospective tourists.

How to Destroy a Frown with One Simple Trick

Looking through the window...Cherie Roe Dirksen

Kiss the Rain (Kiss My Butt!)

I woke up this morning with a cloud of doom and gloom hovering over my head — a mood that can only most succinctly be labeled as feeling utterly ‘crap’.  There is just no other word to encapsulate the emotion that would do it justice.  The weather even reflected my dull mood as it was freezing cold and raining heavily.

My leaking roof dripped dulcetly into a bucket reminding me that, metaphorically speaking, I had leakages and the dams were getting ready to burst.  It sure felt like it as I gulped back the tears.

I had had a bad dream and I felt like the floor could just swallow me up as I sat on my couch not even bothering to make myself a morning cuppa.  The dream was bringing back uncomfortable memories of earlier life experiences and issues.

Lunatics and Full Moons

I pondered these issues and came to my resolutions but still felt completely voided — I really intensely can’t bear this zero-point energy!  2013 was labeled astrologically and esoterically as the ‘Year of Full Moons’ and it sure is living up to all expectation.

One minute you’re on a high and the next minute you’re begging for the earth to swallow you whole.

My husband meandered down the stairs and after settling down, got the rundown of why my face looked like I was sucking on a sour-worm confectionary — a sight he is not that unfamiliar with.

Ebbs and Flows

We are both used to each others severe energetic mood swings by now and, no, it’s not because we are schizophrenic or in any dire need of a high dosage of Lithium — it’s a part of our reconfiguration to all this new energy influx, what some are calling the birthing of a new age or the ascension of humanity.  Read more about that HERE.

But let’s get back to this 3D life of woe and misery…

Music is My First Love

I had things to do; dishes to wash, paintings to package (a chore that has me getting my knickers in a knot with tape in my hair and cardboard lying all over the floor — suffice to say, not something I relish) and other tedious work-related stuff.

What to do?

RHAPSODY IN BLUE RB lo rs

I reached over for my iPod and placed it on the docking station.  The Beatles started playing ‘Rain’ (how appropriate!) and I instantly felt my mood begin to lift as I boogied down to some good old ’60’s rock.

I know I’ve banged on about this before but I just feel it needs reiterating;  MUSIC CURES ALL AILS!

Seriously, I thought nothing was going to bring me out of this pit but within 30 seconds my arse was swaying to the synchronized sounds of the fab four.

Mike looked at me, eyebrows raised as if to say, ‘And now?’.  I just smiled…sweet music, my hero!

4 Ways to Motivate Yourself Out of Bed

Painting by Cherie Roe Dirksen ss

“I once had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall.” — Eleanor Roosevelt

You may be good (or in the above case not) in bed but how good are you at rising? Right, now that I have your attention…

Are You a Morning or a Mourning Person?

I love to sleep in (don’t we all?).  But at some point of the morning one has to muster up the pluck to actually get out of that nice warm bed and brave the cold/the kids/the untidy house/the boss/the traffic/the kitty litter/(insert general problematic encounter here).

As I was lying in bed this morning, blearily preparing to pry open my eyes, I started with my morning ‘head banter’.  I then realized that my thought process on this fine and sunny morn would make for a titillating blog (always capitalizing on my life!).

If you are one of the lucky few (0.001% of the global population) who eagerly jumps out of bed at the crack of dawn with a glint in your eye and a spring in your step — bully for you!  However, even you may glean value from what I’m about to divulge.

“You will start to see just how incredibly powerful you are as a creator of your experience.”

Here it goes, my list of morning motivating muses:

1.  How Do I Want Today to Turn Out? As Will Pharrell sang, ‘It might seem crazy what I’m about to say, Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break. I’m a hot air balloon that could go to space. With the air, like I don’t care, baby, by the way…Because I’m happy‘ — try to start your awakening mind rolling in the direction of a positive affirmation, like telling yourself just how bizarrely splendid today is going to be.  Hell, it could be the best damn day of your life!

Let your thoughts steamroll with the idea of having good things happen to you on this day.  If you have something to do today that you are dreading or feel uneasy about, now is your chance to manipulate that situation to how you want to see it play out.  If it is a dreary task or something with unavoidable lackluster, tell yourself that it is going to go quickly and smoothly so you can get on with something fun afterwards.

2.  How Is Today Going to Look?  As you lie under your cozy covers, start to visualize this splendid day — make a movie in your head.  Start to see how you want it to pan out — direct, director!

You can draw it out with a detailed synopsis or you can conjour up a quick run-through.  Just remember to see yourself smiling and laughing a lot.  Have copious amounts of ‘good times’ squeezed into this productive day.

Whenever I do this visualization technique, it really does affect how my day starts to unfold (for the better).  You will start to see just how incredibly powerful you are as a creator of your experience.

“You’re only as excited by life as how exciting you can be…”

3.  Who Do I Want to Be Today?  Express yourself!  You’ve got to ‘dress for success’.  Jeez, I feel like I’m writing about Pop songs here.  This may seem like a bit of a strange and unspiritual thing to put in this article but I’ve only just started seeing this from a new perspective.    Men, this applies to you too.  There is nothing wrong with expressing how you feel or your personality externally and it is becoming more and more acceptable for men to convey this type of sassy style and creativity.

I can also get into the rut of ‘dressing for comfort’ but have recently realized that it can get uber boring!  I’ve been exposed to the delights of that online ‘visual’ feast site,Pinterest and, oh boy, have I got some fashion ideas!  It can really broaden your style horizons (and I could do with a bit of that).  After brain-storming, I have taken my existing wardrobe and fallen in love with it due to a few tweaks and accessories.  I now dress according to my mood.

I could be a rock chick one day, a jeans and t-shirt girl the next, a sweet-16-and-never-been-kissed maiden (yeah, right!) to a sophisticated business woman — anything goes where the mood flows (and, yes, I can also just be in a sweat- pants and jumper mood).

It’s heaps of inventive fun!  To add even more pizzazz to this daily routine, I sometimes tease my hair and stick it up in a beehive like Elvira or create a rat’s nest, for those of you who can cast your minds back to the ‘80’s, looking like Kim Wilde or Bonnie Tyler. As the saying goes ‘change is as good as a holiday’.  My husband has a good chuckle on these ‘hair’ days when he sees me emerging from the bathroom after hearing the spray can at work.  However, the main thing is to please and dress for yourself — if other people don’t have the guts to go a-la-mode, don’t let it put you off your pursuit.

Don’t take yourself too seriously either — experiment with your individual taste and mood and make this about fun.  This is just another way of spicing up your life and getting creative.  You’re only as excited by life as how exciting you can be or, to put it simply, exciting is as exciting does.  You have a corporeal ‘Earth Suit’ while you are incarnation — you may as well use it to have some shits and giggles.  Just remember when you look good, smell good and feel good — you exude confidence, which is key to having a good day.

Metamorphic Dilatation Painting by Cherie Roe Dirksen 250x259 4 Ways to Motivate Yourself Out of Bed4.  What is the Soundtrack of Today?  This is my favourite step of the feel-good program — figuring out what musical mood I’m in.  When I make up my mind, my toes are already itching to hop out of bed.

After having your first cup of the day accompanied by catching up on the latest articles on Lightworkers World (*wink*), music can be a terrific motivator — especially when you are doing something mundane like housework or on your commute to work.

Put on that Queen greatest hits CD and hoover to ‘I want to break free’ or plan what music to listen that will elevate your mood whilst on your way to work.   I actually cannot do the dishes without having some form of toe-tapping tune on the stereo.  Spoons make for great pretend microphones and dishcloths can be stretched to make great air guitar solos.

When I’m driving, what I’m playing over the system has a tremendous effect on how jovial my trip is.  Seriously though, music has a tendency to make things better and kick-start your day.  Combine a cup of coffee or ginseng tea with Jimaroquai and you will be instantly transformed into a Duracell bunny.

I hope these tips works for you!  Please do share your thoughts or successful morning rituals in the comment area below.

Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility.

The Weight of the World

Hello Earthling! How nice of you to have dropped by this titillating planet filled with such great diversity and beauty.

What was that you said?  Did you say that you:

Feel burdened by society and all that is wrong with the world?

You feel an overwhelming pressure to change the world?

Did I hear you right?  Did you say that you even feel guilty or responsible for the state of the world?

What an awful burden it is to bear when we decide to take on the weight of the world, or on a lesser degree, the weight of another person’s choices or life.

Are you guilty of this?  Yes…no…perhaps a little?

Are You Suffering From Mad Cow Disease?

Let me get clear on this.  Sit down and make yourself comfortable because I need your undivided attention.

Holy cow!  I only recently realized that I’ve been a complete idiot — a buffoon of the highest degree.

In what textbook did I read that I need to change the world, take over if I saw someone else suffering along their path or put every effort into making people see the world the way I see it?

Nope, can’t think of the name of that book so I must have somehow imagined it.  But how many of you can say you feel the same way?

You may feel responsible for your partner, your grown up children, your friends and other members of your family.  You may even take on the responsibility of complete strangers.

Light Bulbs and Cricket Bats

Let’s get straight to the juicy bit of this article — either you’re going to have an ‘a-ha’ moment or you are going to have to beat yourself over the head a couple of times with a bat to whack the sense home.

You were born here on planet Earth and the global problems were here, social structure (no matter how much you may dislike it) was already in place.  Thanks to our ancestors, the worlds configuration was in place the moment you catapulted into reality — the good, the bad and the ugly.  You are not responsible for what came before you.  However, you ARE responsible for how you affect the world with your presence from this moment onwards.  Every choice you make is part and parcel to your responsibility.  Own it.

You were born on planet Earth and you needed to work out some of your own lessons and you’re doing great.  When you decide to shift your focus onto another person’s lessons and try to tamper with their version of reality — you have made a crucial mistake.  You don’t think the other person is capable of handling their own lives so you intervene.  You may think you need to because your version of reality and what you think is the right way as it is working so well for you.  True?

Nope.  It is YOUR truth but it may not necessarily be another’s.  When you try to control another individual or their path you are basically saying that they are weak and you are strong.   Oops…not very nice.  What’s more is you’re not even helping yourself out, you’re just taking on extra baggage.

Helping or Hindering?

SittingEveryone needs to work out their own journey through life.  It is your responsibility to love and respect them enough to give them space and to only help out when you are asked to.  Get it?

You are disempowering another human being when you try to seize control or mold them into how you want them to fit into your life.

You are not responsible for any other human being but yourself (barring minors under your care, of course).  Focus on yourself and be the best person you can be so that you can be that shining example to others.  That is the only way you will make a positive change in someone’s life.  You can’t go into their space and try to effect change.

The Prime Directive

You are responsible for your life.  Your main responsibility is to be happy — you could even call this your ‘prime directive’or ultimate goal.  If you are not happy it is your responsibility to sniff out the causes as to why you are not living in joy.

So, now say you have found your bliss but it hurts you when you see other people suffer and you want to help.

Keep Your Nose on Your Face

The stark truth is that they need to take responsibility for their life and choices.  You can always help another human being but you should never force yourself or your way of life onto someone else.

To truly love someone is to accept them as they are and respect their life path.  Can you do that?

Can you step into owning your life and taking responsibility for your choices today?  If you do, the weight of the world will be lifted from your shoulders and you will experience a freedom like no other.

It’s okay to be here, it’s okay to be you and it’s okay to let other people be themselves.

You are only responsible for you.  And thanks to the wise words of Gandhi, try to be the change you want to see in the world.

Be Impeccable With Your Words

Don Miguel Ruiz wrote about this in his book ‘The Four Agreements’ but I’d like to touch on it today as it is something that has been on my mind lately.

You see, I believe there is a difference between speaking the truth and saying what needs to be said.

What Does Impeccability Really Mean?

CosmosTo be impeccable with your word simply means to have the ability to filter your thoughts into productive or empathic speech.

It sounds simple but it can be most difficult for some who find themselves impulsively speaking the first thing that comes to mind or for those who think that to tell the truth in any situation is perfectly alright.

Yes, we should be able to speak our truths but sometimes it is not appropriate.  Do you have the capacity to discern which is which?

For example:

You come across someone who is a little slow and less sharp than what is deemed average.  Do you tell this person the truth that he/she is stupid?  It is, after all, the truth (as seen by you).

Well I hope you answered no, because it is neither a productive thing to say nor is it necessary.  This would be like marching up to someone who is mature in years and decrepid and telling them that they old and falling apart.  It is an unnecessary truth.

Now of course there are people out their exercising their right to stupidity that are really going to grate your butt down to the bone but it is best to walk away or try to help them out rather than be unproductive and start hurling abuse.

Do not justify your blurb by saying, ‘well, it is the truth’.  Be very careful when you justify your behavior without taking a long hard look at yourself.  As that very famous phrase from the movie Forest Gump goes;  ‘Stupid is as stupid does!’.

Question Time

When you are at that split-second junction where you are about to say something, stop yourself and quickly assess:

(a) is what I’m about to say going to be helpful (productive) to this person?

(b) if so, how can I phrase it with tact (empathy)?

To Use Euphemism or To Euthanize!

Cosmos 2I often feel like ringing a person’s neck when they feel entitled to blurt out something mean and uncalled for to someone else, don’t you?

Especially when you can see the hurt in the other persons eyes.  I do understand that we must all face our karma and learn to take these things on the chin (see my article called ‘9 Truths About Letting Go of Opinions that Taint Us’) but it still pisses me off no end when someone is tactless.

Let the words that fall from your lips be that which your heart agrees upon.  Venomous words will only result in being toxic to yourself and to others.
